Great ambiance!! After taking a river cruise with friends who were visiting from Mexico, we decided to get some Italian food. Instead of the typical Chicago style pizza, we decided to try Eataly. First, you walk into a marketplace with Italian products from olive oil, cheese, pasta and wine as well as a bakery. An excellent place for Italian food. We headed upstairs to LA PIZZA & LA PASTA. We were greeted and seated promptly. Miguel, our server, did an excellent job of explaining the food as well as the wine, beer and cocktail options available in both Spanish and English. Kudos to Miguel!! I had the Gnocchi and the caponata. They were both delicious. The others had different pizza and pasta dishes. Everyone agreed that all the food was very good. Thanks to Miguel and Eataly for making this a memorable experience for us and our guests!!
This Italian grocery and restaurant in one place. This unique market has many departments. It has grocery, dessert, wine, kitchens ware, fast food, restaurants and more. The aged beef and Kobe beef can be found here. I got the mango gelato for the taste. We also got some cookies for souvenirs. I did not try their distillery beer. The food restaurants at second floor seem like delicious.
Don't want it to get too busy but they do have a great $9 only spritz for two weeks! Only at their la pizza resto upstairs ! I got the limone gin spritz and the Campari spritz! My server Carlo was warm and kind. He's from Genoa where I visited in sep of 2022! It's not a larger city like Milan or Venice but it has its wonderful Italian charm! Highly recommend these two drink! Boozy and refreshing!
I love going to the Eataly in NYC so I was excited when I saw that there is one in Chicago. Eataly has everything! It sells baked goods, desserts and gelato, seafood, pasta, wine, and it also has a restaurant. The gelato was great. I ordered the tagliatelle alla bolognese. The pasta was made in-house and delicious. I wish it had a little more sauce though. The restaurant was packed so the pasta took a while to arrive.
The most amazing, beautiful and elegant space. I wish I was able to have captured all the spaces within the Eataly space. We weren't aware of the different aspects within. If you love Italian food, Italian pasta, pastries, pizza,wine they have it all. We had fettuccine, with a side of chicken breast. The chicken was so moist. It was grilled to perfection. The focaccia was out of this world. It was airy. Just amazing with the best olive oil. They gave us a side of salt for the bread to add with the dipped olive oil and it just blended and melted together. Every bite was just beyond words. My wife had the Branzino. It was stuffed with aromatics that not only you could see, but also smell and taste. While garlic , rosemary, and lemons. It sat on a bed of fingerling potatoes, lemons and tomatoes. This was one of the most amazing experiences we have had. We cannot wait to visit another Eataly.
First time ever at eatly, and I'd go again. We had the pizza, charcuterie board, tiramisu and the wine flight. It was all great, I wish I knew more of the place to start. I rushed to get a pizza on the first floor. But later found the restaurant upstairs. If I lived in the city I would absolutely shop for food or eat here often. It's a nice chill place and I can tell people love to hang out here especially on Friday night. Place was decently clean, service at the places we are also decent. All in all great experience
Eataly is a cool spot. I got to Chicago super early before my hotel was ready, so I hopped on Yelp to look for a cafe. This was close to my hotel, and I've obviously heard about it as a tourist destination, so I was excited to go. The cafe space itself was great to get work done and grab a coffee. Seating was ample and over all clean. They serve Lavazza coffee which is great, and definitely elevates the experience. This counter/ cafe area low key reminds me of a mini food hall, and I really loved the amount of options that were offered. They have pizza, a bakery, gelato, pasta, and packed/ ready to go options. Since I had time, I decided to stay parked and grabbed a slice of pizza. It's Roman style, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. It wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad! It was hard to decide which one to get, but I got prosciutto. It is a bit pricy, but that's downtown Chicago. I got a chance to look around at the market area and the store is really cool. They have everything you need for the kitchen. The staff was super awesome too, I thought I lost my wallet and they were very helpful. I'd go back and try something else next time!
Beautiful ambience not too busy and chaotic. We had a reservation but definitely didn't need one. We were seated promptly after doing some shopping on the bottom floor. Server came to us rapid fast and placed our order within minutes. The cheese wheel served table side was PHENOMENAL 10/10 recommend. The pizza was also fresh out of the oven we were able to watch from our table. Truly a heartwarming experience and would absolutely go again.
I ventured to this store several years ago and it is still the same. It has multiple floors with various imported gourmet Italian goods. It is literally a mecca of all things Italy. There is a small market doenstairs with easy to grab pre prepared meals and wines as well as other snacks and beverages as well as trinkets and souvenirs. Since everything in the store is pretty expensive, I don't really purchase much. I have other family members gift a meal or two for me which was eggplant parmesean and I have to say that it was pretty tasty. The portion size i think is generous as well though it did make me really sleepy and nearly almost put me in a coma Nonetheless, it was pretty delicious. They have a wide variety of other goods to choose from as well downstairs. When you take the escalator or elevator to the upper floors, there are dry goods such as breads, tomato sauces, cheeses, bread, and much much more. The wine wall was pretty spectacular as well amd they divided the wines by region. The other part of the store has a stand alone restaurant towards the back which was packed. They also had these stations woth an open concept kitchen so you can see the chefs cooking as well as the bartenders preparing drinks. That was fun to witness as I walked by. It was very hustle bustle and they had one lounge style sit down eatery with waiters and another casual restaurant in the back with waiters. I highly recommend it if you have not gone. I think it's a Chicago must do!
I went to Eataly solo today! I always wanted to come here because we don't have Eataly back then when I was living in NYC. I got some candies, a pint of gelato, and a sandwich! The sandwich is so freaking professional! Because I want the sandwich hot, they disassemble the lettuce before heating it so it won't wilt! Such care and attention. That carmalized onion on the sandwich is absolutely delicious! We had the pint at dinner! Love this place. The staff is friend and patient. The poor pastry staff is super patience with me and have to handle stupid question about the options for a husband that got got a super weak stomach and lactose intolerant (like you are in a freaking Italian grocery! Daily and oil and coffee is a must!). Another I was drooling on the cheese and meat section but cannot get any. The other staff is super patience to help me check out with a pint! The self checkout is easy to use even for a first timer. There were so much stuff I want to get but I got no room in my suitcase! I really want to try the pizza but I think I have to switch to a different travel companion next time! I will definitely return whenever I am in the area!

Overall, I did not enjoy this strange turn from Italian food I am used to. I am not sure if this place is a fusion restaurant with another culture because the food that I was expecting to be Italian was not giving Italy. Typical bruschetta you see has tomato, which was what I was hoping for when I ordered it, but there were no tomatoes at all. Instead, there were green peas, and a whole lot of cheeses on top consisting of whipped ricotta cheese. The taste made me regret getting the bruschetta, which I usually love. And the gnocchi dish... don't even get me started. The texture made me think I was eating raw dough from my baking sessions. It looked promising when the dish first came out, but the mozzarella cheese on top was chewier than the gnocchi itself. The gnocchi would just become a strange mash when poked with by my fork. The gnocchi was overcooked which resulted in a mushy paste when it should have been pillowy and have a slight resistance when bitten into. Maybe their other foods may have been good, but the combo I got was not filling. I barely touched the gnocchi. read more
On a recent work trip to Chicago, I had the chance to experience all of Eataly's offerings. During my first visit, I picked up some sweet treats to enjoy after dinner. First, I explored the endless snack aisles and selected a bag of chocolate-hazelnut biscuits to take home. I couldn't resist the gelato and tried the pistachio flavor (yum!) On my next visit to Eataly a couple of days later, I ordered a cappuccino, and while my beverage took a long time to prepare, the espresso tasted very high quality. The pastries looked stunning and decadent, and I imagine they'd pair wonderfully with espresso if you have time to linger at the cafe (I was in a hurry to get to a work meeting). The next day, my team and I visited Eataly's restaurant for lunch. I selected the anchovy toast as my starter and the gnocchi for my main as part of the lunch special. The toast consisted of two slices of sourdough bread topped with creamy lemon spread and anchovies. The contrast of the bright lemon flavor with the ultra-salty anchovies was tempered by the creamy butter - these all paired together quite well. The gnocchi, on the other hand, was underwhelming. The gnocchi was much too soft (it had the texture of mashed potatoes), and the red sauce was bland. All in all, visiting Eataly was a cool way to experience gourmet Italian food. read more
We have never been here before and saw they offered a summer Fridays tasting event. The event itself I wouldn't recommend - they give you tiny sample portions of preselected items on paper hotdog containers. Considering this place is supposed to have some class, we were pretty appalled that they seemed to do the bare minimum for this event. I felt very deceived by how this event was advertised online vs in real life. It seems they intentionally left out details and was marketed as five tastings at five counters, but we receieved barely a sample at each sation. The website said 1. house made pasta - you have one option and it was three bites, no vegetarian option 2. roman-style pizza - only thing I won't complain about although still a small portion 3. Curated drink from Caffe Lavazza - this was a dixie cup portion of a blended Frappuccino 4. house made pastry - they gave you the option of literal bite sized dessert, not a whole pastry 5. the artisanal salumi and formaggi - pathetic, literally 1 piece of meat, three pieces of the same type of cheeses, three olives, and dry stale crackers. Honestly for what they offer this was a slap in the face and from a consumer perspective Eataly's attempt at a summer money making scheme. I would find it hard to believe anyone who rave about this event, in fact I imagine most left very underwhelmed and still hungry. Eataly itself might be a great experience but we did not have the opportunity. We enjoyed the spritz drinks we ordered for their $9 summer special but this event did not make me want to return at all. It unfortunately dangled everything they could have offered in front of us, but then gave us the lowest tier. Driving in traffic to do this was not worth the time, gas, parking or inconvenience and the best part of our city night was when we stepped out of Eataly. read more

Stopped in to buy a bottle of wine for the hotel room and decided to grab a couple of slices for lunch. I had a Margherita slice and my wife had a Soppressata. At 9 and 10 bucks respectively, they aren't cheap but they're pretty large slices. They were also pretty bland. read more

Eataly Chicago is a massive 63,000-square-foot Italian food hall in River North that perfectly balances a gourmet market with high-end dining. It's a "choose your own adventure" destination--great for a quick espresso, a sit-down meal, or souvenir shopping. * The Food: The second floor is the heart of the action. La Pizza & La Pasta serves incredible Neapolitan pies and authentic pasta. For something more casual, grab a slice of Roman-style pizza or fresh gelato on the ground floor.I could live my entire life on that fettuccine Alfredo; the kids spaghetti was also spectacular and so was the pizza . * The Market: You'll find top-tier imported olive oils, house-made mozzarella, and a massive selection of Italian wines. It's an excellent spot to pick up specialty ingredients you won't find at a standard grocery store. * The Vibe: It gets very busy on weekends, so aim for a weekday lunch or early dinner if you want to avoid the crowds. If you have time, check out their cooking school for a hands-on pasta-making class. Pro Tip: Head to the central "Piazza" on the second floor to enjoy a glass of wine and a cheese board while people-watching. read more

What a wonderful surprise. Reserved a table because Italian called to us (I blame the gangster ghost tour). Turns out, there are 3 restaurants, a cooking class, and a wine tasting all inside this authentic Italian grocery store. The food was magnificent, the service, SPECTACULAR. It was a little louder than I would have liked but it was like being in my Nona's house, so all is forgiven! read more
Hands down my favorite Italian grocery, to go food, and restaurant all in one. You can't go wrong with anything from the menu here. Service is quick, lots of open tables, not crowded. I like how quiet and quaint the second level of the store/restaurant. Also a nice place to burn off some calories while browsing groceries/souvenirs that are available after dinner. read more
It has been a while since we were here so we decided to treat ourselves and go again. We were not disappointed. Our server was Scout and she was wonderful. Big help working our way through the wine list, gave us a couple of tastes and zeroed in on one that was just right! Her recommendations for food were spot on as well. Cool place. Love that you have the grocery store and also cafes and restaurant. Dinner is okay, good staple if you are in the area. Not a place I make a plan to go to, but more a stop if I'm there. The grocery store part is nice tho! Service was good. Nothing memorable. read more

Always a great option for good Italian food. Three different restaurants, a bar, gelato, coffee - everything is served here. Amazing for an afternoon coffee or even breakfast at the main floor. You then find thousands of wines upstairs from all regions of Italy. Servers are always friendly and food is served very quickly. Go for pizza and you will not regret it. read more
Always a great time at Eataly. I've been to the Boston location but last weekend was my first time at the one in Chicago. We ended up sitting at one of the wine bars upstairs and ordered a couple spritzers, meatballs, and a flatbread pizza. The place was PACKED and the service was a little slow. We had a lot of time tho, so we didn't mind sitting and chatting while we waiting for service and food. The drinks were very refreshing and exactly what we needed. The foot was all DELICIOUS. I honestly wasn't expecting much from a place that's kind of touristy like this, but I loved the meatball. I would definitely come back and recommend this place if you're in town visiting. read more
I've been wanting to check out an Eataly location for a while. I always thought I'd get to one of the NYC locations first... but I discovered they had a location in Chicago (where I was going to be on vacation for a couple days) and thought "hey, what the hell... I'll try it for dinner some night and then wander the market and check things out". I'd made reservations (because I had no idea how crowded this place might get - I'd never been to one before) for dinner at La Pizza & La Pasta. My travel buddy and I arrived early, but there were only a couple other folks in the restaurant (Wednesday night a bit before 8pm) and so it wasn't a problem for us to get a table (and the reservation definitely wasn't needed). Once given a small table (note: I had asked for a booth on my OpenTable reservation, and we didn't get one even though there was almost nobody there), the service was pleasant and attentive, and the general ambience of La Pizza & La Pasta was nice enough. We ordered drinks, an appetizer to share, and each of us ordered a pizza. Nothing from our meal ended up being especially memorable... not for the $160+ (including tip) amount that we ended up paying for the dinner... but it was fine (and we took leftovers back to the hotel that we ended up having for breakfast the next morning). We didn't order dessert from the restaurant because apparently they don't offer desserts to go? At least not the pistachio cannolis (which we had both been hoping for). The server did note that we could get pre-made pistachio cannolis from the dessert counter in the downstairs market area; unfortunately, once we got down there, we were told they don't offer cannolis after 8pm (even though plenty of other desserts are available for purchase). It was a bit odd, honestly... but we ended up asking for dessert recommendations from the folks at the counter and purchased those. As an overall market, I found a bunch of things at Eataly that I might have purchased to try in other circumstances. Since I was flying home though (and already limited in suitcase space thanks to plenty of souvenirs that I was bringing back for friends and colleagues), I didn't end up buying any of the pastas, sauces, oils, pestos, or anything else. I would have easily wandered the wine selection for things to try too... but again, that would have been an annoyance when flying home. Maybe I'll order online? Ya never know. TL;DR A fun experience, if perhaps a bit cliche and touristy. I'd probably shop here from time to time if I had an Eataly location closer to me and was perhaps in search of a unique experience. Maybe take a class at the cooking school. Is it necessary to visit though? Meh. read more
This is my first time at this location. I've visited other cities. I really enjoyed calm, clean atmosphere. We were sited right easy. Service was promptly. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We started with an order Focaccia. The bread was a little dry. For the main dish, we ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. It was good. Perfect portion for dinner. Eataly is always a fun place to pick up something to eat. read more
Went to dinner here with my wife's work colleagues. We got seated easily but we were a large party so one end of the table couldn't talk to the other. The wait staff was pleasant but the drinks came out very slowly. They were good, but not worth the wait. My wife and I split the carbonara and a salad. The carbonara was great and the salad was nice, but it needed something. Everyone was happy with their meals so I would recommend this place. read more

Stopped by Eataly after a pretty lackluster dinner at Doc B's, and it completely turned the night around. We grabbed a tiramisu and it was absolutely delicious, rich and balanced and exactly what I was craving. I paired it with a coffee, which was the perfect way to finish things off. The market area is a nice touch and actually reminds me of Phoenicia Market in Houston, with lots to browse and a fun mix of foods and treats. Great dessert, great vibe, and an easy win if you need something reliable and satisfying in River North. I will definitely be back. read more
We had a lovely lunch at Eataly today in Chicago. We hit one of the smaller counters downstairs for a slice of pizza and a sandwich. They were both very good although neither of them were very hot. They probably could've spent an extra couple minutes in the oven. The coffee drinks were good and the whole place is generally pretty amazing. I would highly recommend going to check out this cool place, grab a bite to eat, and pick up some good Italian items from the store while you're there. read more

I was really excited to try Eataly, but unfortunately our experience at La Pizza & La Pasta was disappointing. From the start, we felt rushed while placing our order, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. We ordered drinks, a salad, and bread (which, surprisingly, is not complimentary). The bread came out very cold--as if it had just been taken out of a refrigerator--which was not appetizing at all. The biggest issue was the portions. The adult pasta portions were extremely small--honestly smaller than what you'd expect from a kids meal. My husband and I finished our pasta in about three minutes. For the price point, the portion sizes are absolutely not worth it. I ordered the seafood carbonara, which only had three pieces of shrimp, and the taste was very underwhelming. On top of that, our drinks and bread didn't even arrive until after our food came out, and we had to repeatedly ask for them. Once we finished eating, it took about 20 minutes just to receive the check--even after our plates were cleared. The service was inconsistent from start to finish. Our total came out to $140 for two adults and one child, which felt completely unjustified given the experience. If you're in the mood for Italian, I highly recommend checking out La Scarola or Italian Village instead. You'll likely spend the same or less and actually leave satisfied--with leftovers. Overall, very disappointing. I expected much better. read more
The fresh baked Foccacia at Eataly is incredible! (We had the rosemary one--unfortunately ate it before taking a good photo)--luxuriously soft and flavorful 5/5. You can also pick up fresh pasta to bring home. We sat down for the Restaurant Fest fixed menu option ($26 for two course) and picked the butternut squash antipasto with ricotta and gnocchi. The ricotta was tasty and the bread crunchy. The gnocchi beautifully plated but average. Maybe I am just not a fan of gnocchi as much; their beef ragu (not photographed) was very good. Somehow in all my years in Chicagoland I had never been to Eataly, so when in this neighborhood we stopped in. If you are a foodie, prepare yourself. And your wallet. Because you are going to want to load up on everything. Cheese, pasta, candy, cookies, salumi, fish, dishware, liquor, and more. Not to mention pausing at the bar upstairs for a beverage. This is the kind of place where another shopper sees the brand of pasta in your cart and unbidden goes into paroxysms of joy about how great it is. You get the idea. I was transported back to Italy! I love visiting Italy for many reasons and one of the big reasons is the food. The quality and freshness of the meats, cheeses, pastas, wine, limoncello, chocolates, gelato and more. This place has all those things! This place is huge! What a wonderful multilevel venue of goodness! I love the decor and layout. Spacious and easy to explore. I loved looking at everything and I can't wait to go back. Lots of food kiosks and restaurants. I enjoyed my pizza and gelato for dinner. Great places to shop for food, pantry items, perishables, cooking supplies, and more. The meats and cheeses I bought were delicious and high quality. I can't wait to return and try more things. They have a pistachio spread that looks fantastic. The pizza was really delicious, very authentic tasting. Our server was really nice and brought us extra cheese and red pepper flakes. I ordered a Diet Coke and was brought a Coke Zero which was a little disappointing, but I guess that also happens in Europe as well! It was also $6, which felt like highway robbery for a soda. I love "European style" combined market and eateries. Especially ones where you can go get a glass of wine and then roam around the market while sipping on it - not a bad way to shop. We decided for a sit down lunch though, not just a grab&go or over-the-counter service. This place has two proper sit down dine-in restaurants, they are more or less the same. Seating was quick, server arrived promptly, but despite it being almost no other patrons the food took quite a while to arrive... I usually order the bruschetta since it's a quick to arrive; not so here. We waited a good 30mins to get that starter. Sure, once it arrived it was presented nicely and the flavors were all on point and really set up your expectations for the rest of the meal. But still, 30min wait for a bruschetta is kind of insane. The pasta was what I would consider perfect al dente, others may prefer it to be cooked just a few seconds more to get that center a little less chewy. To each their own. I love the Eataly concept. This is a good spot to check out, get some chow, pick up some wine, etc... esp. good if you want to pick up some gourmet treats, drinks, etc. while staying in a hotel for a while and you have a fridge. A good location, I prefer the NYC store near 23rd St, like Boston too. I'm looking forward to trying the new location near my home that recently opened in Aventura, FL. We decided to check out Eataly before our flight home from Chicago, and it was a great final stop to wrap up our trip. We shared the truffle pizza and the seafood linguine, pairing them with a Nebbiolo and a sparkling rosé. The Nebbiolo was a standout--a perfect match with the rich, earthy truffle pizza--while the sparkling rosé was a bit sweeter than we usually prefer. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable--light, flavorful, and full of fresh seafood without feeling too heavy. For dessert, we headed downstairs for baked goods and a cappuccino, which made for a nice, relaxing end to the meal. Eataly is a great spot if you're looking for a taste of Italy in a vibrant, market-style setting. Whether you're shopping for gifts, grabbing a bite, or just exploring, it's a fun and casual experience. You can walk around the entire facility, purchase things get some espresso, etc. But if you're going to eat at any one of the restaurants and there's a number of them I would highly recommend a reservation

We found Eataly during our last visit to Chicago and loved it. We are returning in March over a weekend and heard that the lines can be very long. Are there certain times which are better, maybe 5 or 6pm?
On the few times I have gone, it's best before noon and after 8pm. People go for lunch and after work people get together for wine and charcuterie boards

An American style breakfast was not however if your looking to enjoy a good cappuccino / espresso and pastry or cold cuts and bread or a sweet nutella crepe this will work.
