Recently had lunch at Cubaneo! It's a great spot for a casual bite - the inside is cute but still gave off a very chill vibe. Our server was accommodating and detailed when giving us reccomendations Transparently my meal kind of missed the mark. I had their Cubano sandwhich which I thought leaned cold, and it felt more greasy than flavorful. That said I feel like it would be unfair to give a lower rating as I only tried one item on their vast menu

Very good dinner at Cubaneo. Very casual & relaxed setting, some candle light as it got dark outside. We shared the beet salad, dressing is served on the side, which is great. Ample for 2, maybe even 3 people could share it. We had an order (2) of the Empanadas filled with chicken, they are really wonderful, flaky pastry & moist chicken inside. We also shared the Ropa Vieja, it had a LOT of beef & 3 slices of plantains (Maduras). Very delicious! I forgot a picture, but substantially more on the plate than last time. A couple other main dishes sounded very very good but Ropa Vieja can be hard to find & we really enjoy it. Our server was very sweet but a little distracted. Really enjoy this restaurant!

Cutely decorated Cuban spot! It was empty when my friend and I came in for a weekday breakfast so we were seated and served very quickly. I ordered the mango lemonade and an omelette. The mango lemonade was so yummy. Perfectly sweet and tart and an amazing way to start my day. The omelette was pretty basic with bell pepper, cheese, and ham. The potatoes were fine as well. At the very end of our meal, our server gave us a cream cheese pastry which was actually the best cream cheese pastry. It was served warm and crispy, and the filling was sweet and a little tart. The pastry had a bit of turbinado sugar which was perfect as well. Overall, cute spot! I'll be back for those pastries someday!!

We were able to find an open table on a Friday night, but the place filled up quickly! We were served plantain chips with a cilantro aioli that was to die for. My friend had the lavender margarita which was a perfectly crafted cocktail flavor wise. Out of all the food we ordered, we all agreed the homemade empanadas were our favorite! They had a choice of chicken, beef, and spinach/mozzarella. We tried all of them and thought the chicken had the best flavor. I personally ordered the mango shrimp which was so good. I loved that it was served with tostones which were delicious. Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. The decorations inside are beautiful and the staff was so friendly! I also saw they had some guava pastries up front by their counter.

My and my friends came here and we had a really great time. The decor inside was cute, the staff were friendly and the service was fast. We each got a sandwich and all thought they were delicious and the ingredients were great quality. I had the pan con bistec and I would come back and get it again. I think the sandwich size was good and did fill me up but if you tend to be on the hungrier side you may need to order a side with it as it doesn't come with one. I would probably not come here just for drinks, it's pretty standard city cocktail prices but my mojito was very average. All in all though would recommend to a friend!

Had a stellar experience at Cubaneo. Conveniently located in Lakeview. Offers authentic Cuban food at a reasonable price in a clean, comfortable Cuban decor designed restaurant space. I didn't get a pic of the plantains (obsessed), but my friends and I ordered a variety of items to share. Food was great and employees were friendly and welcoming.

Very cute ambience but food was unfortunately bland. The Ceviche lacked citrus but the ingredients were fresh and the plantain chips were crispy. The Cubano was well-toasted and got a good filling. Similarly, the Wrap was full of buttery rice and tender pork. However, they both could have used more salt or some sauces. Prices were high. Service decent.

I would say the best part of my experience was the coffee. The three stars is simply because the food was edible, but nothing stood out. In fact, the food I got was completely different looking from the photos posted. For example the patatas bravas comes out in a bowl with a watered down sauce that's more soup like. However, other pictures show the same dish to be layered flaky cubes with minimal sauce on top but with a nice coating of seasoning. Basically, the I was not really satisfied with the offerings I ordered compared to what I expected. However, the food was not necessarily bad. Patatas Bravas: 2 of 5 Soggy, somewhat fried potatoes. Seasoning was good but weirdly watered down. Churrasco (skirt steak dish) 3 of 5 Looked good, but didn't taste like much and the potatoes around the board were unflavored. Cafe de Leche: 4 of 5: Good coffee flavor, perfect temp. I wish the cup was bigger.

Delicious Cuban food on Broadway. We usually stick to the sandwiches, but their main dishes like the Arroz con Pollo or Mojo Chicken are worth it. The only downside is the food service takes a while. It looks like there is a single chef in a relatively small kitchen. Last time we went we ordered the Cubano and the Pan con Bistec sandwiches, both delicious. We ended it with the Guava Pastelito - a flaky and butter pastry with a guava jam inside.

This was my second time at cubaneo and it was even better than the first! We made a brunch reservation and our table was perfectly set when we arrived with flowers and all, kinda felt like a wedding reception in the best way. The service was great! I got the Dulce de leche banana smoothie, the tostones, and the breakfast wrap which came pressed and was huge! My favorite thing here is still the tostones - I dream about them, but I loved everything and the ambiance here is so nice. Will definitely be back!

Such a cute place! The service is nice. I got the burger and it was pretty tasty along with the sauce, which is kind of like a big Mac sauce. I would definitely come again to try other things on the menu.

Let's begin with the interior design in this restaurant; absolutely cozy vibes. I loved everything about this restaurant. The service was good but not great. The food is where we had our problem a bit. 3 of us ordered the streak and it didn't come the way we ordered. All 3 of us wanted garlic fries but only 2 of us received garlic fries and 1 mashed potatoes. The cook on the steak was incorrect. 2 of us wanted medium well and 1 wanted medium. 1 got well done, 2 got medium. The food got cold real quick. Overall, the food was tasty but it didn't leave an impression of wanting to come back.

Very cute spot! And their smoothies are so flavorful. They are not overly sweet and hit the spot and beautiful presentation. Will def come back for dinner.

It was the right move because it had the kind of chill vibe we were seeking after a long flight from SFO. Fortunately there were two seats at the bar with our names on them. Figuratively speaking. They had quite a signature cocktail list on hand, and we felt it was our obligation to try as many as we could. At least that was what we said to ourselves as the evening wore on. Each cocktail was $14. We started with a couple of familiar libations. Jamie ordered the Mint Julep, a delightfully Deep South mix of bourbon, simple syrup, and fresh mint (photo: https://yelp.to/u-td8LdPLj). I went further south with the Pineapple Margarita which was emboldened by a tropically potent mix of pineapple infused tequila, lime juice, and agave (photo: https://yelp.to/V-Sf6Q_2qK). We got a bit bolder with our second round and found mixed results. Jamie had the Not Your Mom's Daiquiri which amped up the margarita by blending pineapple-infused tequila with Bacardi 8-year rum. Along with fresh lime and simple syrup, this one definitely had more of a kick (photo: https://yelp.to/1ZijDf6wMV). However, my order, the Pontiac Pony, was a spicy miss for me. It was a rather oddball mix of apple-cinnamon infused vodka, pear liqueur, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and ginger beer (photo: https://yelp.to/5dQoFdzG98). There was just a harshness that didn't sit well on my tongue. Oh well, the mellow vibe was cool. I happened to discover LNF during a Yelp Event when LNF turned into Rudolph's Bar, a jolly holly Xmas Extravaganza! I do not believe there was a single spot in the bar that had not been covered in Xmas decorations. It was total sensory overload to the point I did not put up any directions 2025 because I had seen enough at LNF. HAHAHAHAHA! On the strength of the food and drinks that night, I decided to go back once all of the Xmas hoopla was over. Going back in 2026 was a more subdue, but enjoyable time for me. As I mentioned in my 2025 review, even with all the Xmas decoration, the overall vibe was a step up from the typical bars around the Cubs playground. I would have loved a regular girls night out there instead of the last hurrah of me and The Queen. I had mentioned to her about the cocktails and the pizzas I had during the Yelp event and we decided to stop in before heading to the Alamo Drafthouse for a movie. Me and The Queen go the Spicy Sausage pizza and those fries, since I talked about the food to her. Again it was really good, with the crust still being nice and thin. The Queen did not think it was all that spicy, but she eats Hell Ramen Level 4, so I do not look to her for confirmation of hotness when it comes to food. We had cocktails and The Queen (because she was driving) had a Margarita made with a zero proof Tequila. I have to say it was not that bad and I got one and added Prosecco to it...delish. Me and The Queen had a great time chatting, eating and drinking at LNF, but were both sad that we were going to miss out on the opportunity to turn this into one of our rotation hangouts. But I will always be grateful for them introducing me to their Red Bull Winter Spritz. Since that Yelp Event, I have bought three cases of Red Bull Sugar-Free Fuji Apple and Ginger Winter Edition Energy Drink to make the cocktail. Not sure if it is exactly how they did it, but it works for me. So long LNF, it was good knowing you, even if it was for a short time. Deuces!

My goal is to try 50 new Chicago restaurants in 2025!…read moreRestaurant: 63/50 Month tried: November Favorite dish: I would not eat here again Woooof. We had a reservation for 9 am the day of the Michigan/Northwestern game at Wrigley Field. Figured we would have a quick brunch then go enjoy the pre-game atmosphere. Well, when we had been sitting for nearly 30 minutes with no server to be found, we started to get nervous. She finally came over and while she was sweet, really just nothing went right. A food runner brought out a tray that appeared to have all of our orders, but then only served one plate before walking away. It was a solid 10-15 minutes before anyone else's meals were brought out, and even then it was one plate at a time every few minutes, not the rest of the order at once. And everything was cold. Every single item. The chicken and waffles felt like it came out of the fridge it was so cold. And the worst part - we had a member in our party with a severe nut allergy, who told the server 3 times. She noted it, and made sure he would get white toast instead of wheat. When his meal came, there were two huge pieces of wheat toast with visible nuts across his ENTIRE plate. Touching every piece of food. He said again that he was allergic, and they just removed the toast and handed the plate back. It had already touched everything! Since at this point we had to leave soon for the game (and because we now couldn't trust a kitchen that doesn't understand a nut allergy), we just had them remove his order from the check and he didn't get to eat. The server did take 20% off the total bill and gave us a gift card to make up for our terrible experience. Like I said, she was very nice and trying her best. She was just at the mercy of the kitchen being behind and screwing up. But as a Wrigleyville restaurant, you MUST be able to handle lots of customers on a game day. That's like the one thing Wrigley bars need to be good at. This is just not an environment I would choose to be in again, especially for the steep prices. We'll use the gift card for drinks at the bar on a non-game day, and wipe our hands of Lost Never Found.
