The burger was flavorful and a great price for how filling it was. The chicken was phenomenal. Packed with flavors and you can taste each spice used. Spectacular food. Service (5/5): Service was great. Our server was nice and filled up waters when needed. He would come by when we were in a convo lull, just watching the COCOs drive around, park, wait, then drive off again. It was very entertaining. Ambiance (5/5): It had a clean vibe. Lots of plants to add to the vibe. It was very welcoming. We were seated at the window bar stools, though all the other tables in there were empty. The bathrooms were also very clean. I randomly stumbled upon Cubaneo to grab lunch with a friend in town on a Monday, and it was such a pleasant experience. The restaurant was mostly empty, but the environment was so cute and cozy. It was a great ambiance, and the server was also really friendly. We ordered a good mix of things from the menu: guava pastelito, empanadas, plantains, omelette, and latte. Everything was very well executed. I loved the flavors of each dish. The guava pastelito was flaky without being too sweat, the empanadas had a great texture, the plantains were savory and sweet, and the omelette felt fresh. No dish was necessarily standout, but everything was good. I had a great experience here, and I could see it being such a nice place to go to with friends on a sunny day in the summer. Our server was accommodating and detailed when giving us reccomendations Transparently my meal kind of missed the mark. Ample for 2, maybe even 3 people could share it. We had an order (2) of the Empanadas filled with chicken, they are really wonderful, flaky pastry & moist chicken inside. We also shared the Ropa Vieja, it had a LOT of beef & 3 slices of plantains (Maduras). Very delicious! I forgot a picture, but substantially more on the plate than last time. Cutely decorated Cuban spot! It was empty when my friend and I came in for a weekday breakfast so we were seated and served very quickly. I ordered the mango lemonade and an omelette. The mango lemonade was so yummy. Perfectly sweet and tart and an amazing way to start my day. The omelette was pretty basic with bell pepper, cheese, and ham. The potatoes were fine as well. At the very end of our meal, our server gave us a cream cheese pastry which was actually the best cream cheese pastry. It was served warm and crispy, and the filling was sweet and a little tart. We were able to find an open table on a Friday night, but the place filled up quickly! We were served plantain chips with a cilantro aioli that was to die for. My friend had the lavender margarita which was a perfectly crafted cocktail flavor wise. Out of all the food we ordered, we all agreed the homemade empanadas were our favorite! They had a choice of chicken, beef, and spinach/mozzarella. We tried all of them and thought the chicken had the best flavor. I personally ordered the mango shrimp which was so good. My and my friends came here and we had a really great time. The decor inside was cute, the staff were friendly and the service was fast. We each got a sandwich and all thought they were delicious and the ingredients were great quality. I had the pan con bistec and I would come back and get it again. I think the sandwich size was good and did fill me up but if you tend to be on the hungrier side you may need to order a side with it as it doesn't come with one. I would probably not come here just for drinks, it's pretty standard city cocktail prices but my mojito was very average. All in all though would recommend to a friend! read more

I would say the best part of my experience was the coffee. The three stars is simply because the food was edible, but nothing stood out. In fact, the food I got was completely different looking from the photos posted. For example the patatas bravas comes out in a bowl with a watered down sauce that's more soup like. However, other pictures show the same dish to be layered flaky cubes with minimal sauce on top but with a nice coating of seasoning. Basically, the I was not really satisfied with the offerings I ordered compared to what I expected. However, the food was not necessarily bad. Patatas Bravas: 2 of 5 Soggy, somewhat fried potatoes. Seasoning was good but weirdly watered down. Churrasco (skirt steak dish) 3 of 5 Looked good, but didn't taste like much and the potatoes around the board were unflavored. Delicious Cuban food on Broadway. We usually stick to the sandwiches, but their main dishes like the Arroz con Pollo or Mojo Chicken are worth it. The only downside is the food service takes a while. It looks like there is a single chef in a relatively small kitchen. Last time we went we ordered the Cubano and the Pan con Bistec sandwiches, both delicious. We made a brunch reservation and our table was perfectly set when we arrived with flowers and all, kinda felt like a wedding reception in the best way. The service was great! We were heading to another place but it was too packed, so we kept along Broadway and saw a place a bit calmer with good ambiance. My son and I decided to stop there. The servers were so informative. Everything felt so personal, like they are cooking just for you. Now the food, we had chicken empanadas (perfectly crisp and seasoned), patatas bravas (the sauce on the potatoes made the dish decadent), then the beef stew was so melt in your mouth good, topped with avacados and pico and served with fried plantains) - however the star had to be their take on the simple beans and rice-... definitely get an order on the side. Stopped in with my daughter a few weeks ago, and even though they were busy, the staff went out of their way to make room for us at the bar and made us feel so welcome. They even offered us a sample of non-alcoholic wine, which was such a kind and unexpected touch. The restaurant is cute, warm, and inviting, and the food is consistently excellent. I've been back multiple times now, and it never disappoints. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. We've tried the empanadas and yuca fries, and for entrées the ropa vieja, arroz con pollo, and even the burger -- everything has been absolutely delicious and clearly made with love. On a chilly late winter night, I was ready for a date night that could help me escape the chill of Chicago winter. Cubaneo has been on my list for a while and that night was the perfect night to try it out. On a Friday night, the place was about half full (probably due to weather) and we were able to pick a nice table. The place is full of vibrant decor, plants and different colorful chairs (but they are a bit narrow, so keep in mind if you are wider in the lower half of your body). We were able to order on our phone and opted to each order a drink, split two appetizers and two sandwiches, which was definitely enough food for the both of us. He ordered the Spicy Mango Mojito which was a 10/10. I went with the lavender margarita, which was a little too heavy on the tequila for my mood that night but still tasty. I definitely wished I had ordered the Mojito! The patatas braves were pretty simple. I wish there had been more brava sauce or seasoning on the potatoes but the aolio and manchago cheese made up for it. The croquettes were the star of the show though, wit the chorizo really coming through without being oily. The pan con busted and cubano were both toasted to perfection and full of flavor. Because the drinks were a bit slow to come out and the patatas bravas were a bit bland, I dropped the review to a 4, but I wish I could have given it a 4.5! i've been wanting to try Cubaneo for a long time because it looks super cute and i love the aesthetics including the menu/logo/etc!! i think their overall vibe is great. the drinks also look amazing and i think they might be what sets Cubaneo apart from other restaurants. the menu is great but pretty much everything on it is really heavy, so you need to be anticipating an inevitable food coma if you come here. i wish they had some lighter menu options, like maybe some sort of salad, i don't know, maybe the omelette is a good choice for that but my friends who got it said it felt like something they could have made at home. i got the cuban wrap and it was really good and i loved the flavors. i also absolutely loved the hot sauce that they have!! it's very vinegary as opposed to being spicy but it was delicious. the staff is also really friendly and nice. would recommend if you're in the mood for a super filling meal:) read more

5 stars because this place had delicious food combined with some of the best prices I've seen in Chicago. Their sandwiches are delicious and only cost $13 which is rare for this quality of food in the city (easily filling enough for dinner). The strawberry mojito was delicious and made better by the fact that it was jam packet with mint while still being a decent sized drink. For service, you order on your phone and the food is brought out to you. My food and my fiancé's were brought out at different times (about 10 min apart) which was maybe the only downside of the restaurant because it would've been nice to get at the same time. The other factors make up for it though so I will definitely be returning. read more

Regret not coming here sooner!! Well-balanced is how I would describe my entire experience. Cheerful, comfortable, clean space with just enough plants. Music adds to but doesn't overwhelm experience. Menu has something for everyone. I chose the Maria Green salad and added shrimp. Perfect ratio of each ingredient with well-seasoned and perfectly cooked shrimp. The house dressing is sweet and tangy. I finished with a Cuban coffee that complimented the flavors already in my mouth.
