Our server Luis was magnificent. Extremely attentive, always kept us in a sight and before we asked for anything it appeared on the table. It went as far as my wife accidentally dropping her napkin on the floor and not knowing it 10 seconds later he walks over picks up the napkin off the floor and hand her a brand new napkin. Might sound routine, but I've not seen that in any restaurant I've eating in in a while. The food was outstanding. First you offered the bread with the garlic oil to dip into. We ate a whole loaf. Then we dined on an appetizer of calamari which was perfectly cooked and seemed as if the batter was a buttery flaky thing of goodness. I had the lobster bisque with shrimp has my meal and was mad when I took the last spoonful because it was so delicious. I did not want it to go away. My wife had something that I thought was in genius. I don't have the name in front of me, but it was essentially flat noodles with lobster and shrimp and a red sauce when I tell you, this was a showstopper. I am not kidding. We recently had dinner on a Monday night at Piacere Mio Uptown with a group of ten neighbors. The restaurant is small, but beautiful. That said, we opted to sit outside. It was a little chilly, but it was a beautiful night, and the restaurant has heaters, so no one was cold. My husband and I arrived early and pre-ordered appetizers and two bottles of wine for the table. Monday nights, they have a half-price wine bottle special, so that's a nice perk. The table was beautifully set, and we were greeted by the person who would be our server for the night. He did an excellent job keeping our water glasses filled and making sure that everyone had what they needed. Cups of bread sliced into thick sticks and served with a dipping sauce were complimentary and delicious--a nice touch. For appetizers, we ordered the meatballs, calamari and burrata caprese. I heard good things about the burrata, but I did not get a taste. I was able to try the meatballs and calamari. They were good, but there was nothing to set them apart from versions that I have had at other restaurants. Piacere Mio Uptown makes their own fresh pasta, and there are many excellent pasta choices on the menu. There are many fish, veal, and chicken entrée choices, too. I had the Rigatoni Rustica--with braised short ribs, wild mushrooms, garlic, and ricotta. I have to say, it was one of the best pasta dishes that I have had in years. Not only was it incredibly flavorful, but the portion was very generous. Although I could have taken home a doggie bag, it was SO good, I had to finish it. My friend sitting next to me ordered the tuna--I believe it was a special that night. The portion was generous, and it as covered with a flavorful mix of herbs and such. It looked great, and my friend said that it was delicious. We had great service, and the entrees were delicious--we plan on returning soon. I highly recommend Piacere Mio Uptown. Our first visit to Piacere Mio Uptown completely stole my heart. We went on a Monday mainly because of their half-price bottles of wine, but the food ended up being the real highlight of the evening. Before even sitting down, we noticed how adorable the outdoor dining area is--perfect for a relaxed evening in San Diego. Inside, the main dining room has a warm, lively ambiance that feels both cozy and energetic, making it a great spot for a family dinner or a night out with friends. We started with the lobster bisque with shrimp, which was lovely--smooth, creamy, and delicately flavored without being overpowering. For dinner, The Doctor ordered the Pappardelle alla Bolognese (braised pork, veal, and beef in a light tomato sauce), and The Queen chose the Tagliatelle Aragosta & Gamberoni with lobster, shrimp, tomato cream sauce, and brandy. I tried both dishes and they were excellent. The bolognese was rich and meaty with great depth of flavor, while the Aragosta came with two lobster tails and plenty of shrimp. The noodles appeared to be house-made and were impressively long--something I've never quite seen before, but we loved it. For my entrée, I ordered the Stinco di Agnello (lamb shank served over parmesan risotto and Calalbrian sauce). The lamb was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone, and the risotto was perfectly creamy. The sauce had a bit of a kick due to the Calabrian chili peppers, which added a nice layer of flavor. We finished the evening by sharing a fig tart with goat cheese gelato--an unexpectedly perfect pairing and a wonderful way to end the meal while finishing my bubbles. Overall, what started as a visit for half-price wine turned into discovering a restaurant we'll absolutely be returning to. read more

We came to Piacere Mio for our Valentine's Day dinner after seeing comments about how well they handled celiac and gluten-free food. I have nothing but praise for our experience. Food-wise, everything was delicious. The grilled octopus was the perfect starter followed by some delicious pasta. For dessert, I went with a tiramisu, which was splendid. Our waiter was great. He was super knowledgeable about the kitchen precautions and made us feel very safe about potential cross-contact. As to the vibe, it's a very cute restaurant. The smaller interior makes it feel intimate without losing the charm of a nice Italian restaurant. Overall, we had a fantastic time. Every aspect of Piacere Mio was amazing on my first visit today for a dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday. We dined on the beautiful outdoor patio. We both had the lobster bisque, which was the best we've ever had. I had the Salmon fillet accompanied by delicious fresh vegetables and spinach. The birthday boy had the special Branzino (sea bass) fillet. For dessert I had the crème brûlée (amazing) and my friend had his favorite, tiramos. I cannot wait to return!! read more

This is more like a neighborhood spot! I'm surprised we hadn't heard of it. It's an Italian place that has indoor and outdoor seating. When we went it was pretty empty and spacious. We had good service and good food. I loved the orrechettie. Also family friendly and my toddler loved the pasta. read more

Finally managed to try this nw place early on a Friday night. We were absolutely delighted with the fabulous warm focaccia with a very garlicky dip. Next we ordered the mussels and after devouring all of them, I actually asked to take the remaining thin tomato sauce home! I didn't want to waste any of it. My entree was the Fussili pasta with sausage and my husband ordered the Branzino with asparagus. Mine was ok, but nothing to justify going out for. I did think the Branzino was better. I think I'll stick with the fabulous appetizer, wine and complimentary bread next time. read more

A good option if you live in the local area, not worth making a special trip to try. I came to Piacere Mio after seeing it rated as a top new restaurant in Chicago Magazine. It's a cute restaurant in a quieter section of Uptown. Well designed but with family owned vibes. Parking in the area was a challenge and the local redline stop isn't the safest. The service was good! Very prompt, friendly, patient, and checked on us frequently. I tried the special Halibut Filet- it was good but slightly overcooked and I wish it was served with some type of carb. The veggies it came with were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The bread and cheese sauce they provided complimentary was also delicious. The truffle fries were okay- a little soggy and seemed like they probably came from a frozen package. They generously offered free limoncello after the meal which was a nice touch. Bottom line- Chicago Magazine definitely oversold this as a "top new restaurant". However, it's a cute and decent option if you live in uptown and want something local. I wouldn't recommend trekking too far to try it but it wasn't a bad meal. read more

As fine Italian as you'd find anywhere in city-- and in this city that's saying a lot! Zucchini florets were perfect! Best I've ever had. Pure flavor, crispy, filled with creamy cheeses, and all with zero oil or "greasiness ". Truly best ever! Pasta dishes were quality-- and abundant. Plan to take some home. Even the bread was served ( without asking for it) with an amazing, buttery garbanzo bean spread. Delicious. Besides great quality food, the service is professional, but very personal. Attentive without being "on top" of guests. There was no interruption of table conversations, although we had staff serving and following up all night. And the desserts-- creative and light! We enjoyed everything about this restaurant, including how easy it was to park nearby. We will return - not about 20 minutes north of the "higher priced" restaurants. Enjoy! read more

I had a great time here. The wait staff was so nice and interacted well with us. We asked questions about certain foods and they were right there with an explanation. It was a warm evening so we sat inside and also because the restaurant is close to the bus stop. They seat you quickly. We chose our food and it was there within 10 minutes. I'm not a big Italian food eater, but this food has changed my mind. It's in a neighborhood so there were a lot of locals there. I'd say give it a try. Everything was perfect. read more

What a wonderful night I just had at this new gem in the Sheridan Park neighborhood of uptown. It's a wonderful addition to the area. I had a delicious and authentic Italian meal that was topped off with the best tiramisu that I've ever eaten. What a way to finish an outstanding Italian dinner. The atmosphere and restaurant itself is quite charming. I can only imagine in the warmer weather once they have their outdoor seating available. What a wonderful extension that will be. This is truly a hidden gem. We have a lot of options for Italian food in Chicago, and this ranks among the best at this price point. I had the Vitella Al Limone which was tender and delicious. My friends had the Rigatoni Rustica, the Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe, and the pasta with pesto sauce. All were superb. We also split a number of appetizers, including the calamari and meatballs. The weather was nice so we were able to sit outside on the wonderful patio. Service was fantastic. This section of Uptown has a great vibe, and this is a great addition to the neighborhood. I went here a a Birthday dinner. The restaurant has a nice dining room with large windows facing the street. It has an upscale atmosphere without being stuffy. The menu has a wide selection of items. We started with the Pork, Veal & Beef Meatballs in a spicy Puttanesca. It was tasty, piquant and spicy (but not too spicy). We split the pasta special which was four cheese gnocchi in a cream sauce with shaved black truffles. Very light and airy gnocchi. The portion was so large we had trouble finishing it. For our entrees we had the Salmon fillet and the Chicken Saltimbocca, both of which were excellent. We finished off with the chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato and the Crème Brûlée which was deliciously creamy. The waiter gave us complimentary Limoncello shots after the meal as it was a Birthday celebration. Five of my friends went to the restaurant with me for a restaurant week. We were placed in our back room that looked like a dungeon without any atmosphere. We were not offered a drink for the first 15 minutes and then the service continued to be slow. I was very disappointed since the food is usually great there and the atmosphere in the front of the restaurant is usually lively. I think they should not have overbooked if they have to put people in the back room very disappointed for the money we paid. read more
