Was excited to come here for the flamenco night and our anniversary dinner! Unfortunately the experience left a bit to be desired. The decorations and music were nice inside, but the service was spotty. We got seated and forgotten about until we had to flag someone down to ask for menus and water. The staff were nice and apologetic, but the service continued to be slow throughout the meal. The food was tasty, but definitely overpriced for the size and each dish that we ordered seemed to consist of mostly potatoes. The best part of our meal was the flamenco dancer and she did a great job of interacting with patrons and getting kids involved. TLDR; might be understaffed or just having an off day but the food quality is lacking too much for me to return. Maybe a good spot for sangria if you're not in a rush I have been looking for a tapas place that isnt BaBaReeba and this spot... kinda fit the bill. My partner and I arrived at around 5 to a sign that told us to seat ourselves, no issue there. The weird part was then waiting over 30 minutes for someone who works there to notice we were there. We tried to make noise, say hello, politely let someone know we were there, but alas finally someone wandered to the front and gave us menus. Food left something to be desired. The fry oil NEEDED to be changed the day we were there. All the potatoes tasted off and were cut so small it was awkward to eat with a fork. It was like they were the frozen diced potatoes that would typically be used for hashbrowns. Pan con tomate was straight up bad. Bacon goat cheese dates were great, I'll give credit there. We intended to order more than we did but after the first plates came out we just called it a night. My wife and I have lived in the neighborhood for 22 years now and this place has been here since shortly before the pandemic, but we never ambled on over to give it a try until last week. When you walk in, the music is just short of ear-splitting volume. You actually have to elevate your voice to talk over it. My date did ask if they would please turn the volume down slightly, and they said yes, but they never did. Either they didn't understand the request (maybe the first time ever anyone asked for that?), or they got waylaid doing something else and forgot. Also, we sat by the front door at the window on a fairly chilly day, and the door kept getting stuck open on the mat that's on the floor in front of it, and the cold air would whoosh in. It happened several times in the first ten minutes until I myself actually got up and repositioned the mat so that wouldn't happen any more. I let the waiter (owner? manager?) know, and he thanked me for that. So, on to the food. They start you with a bread basket that's pretty good, very warm. We asked for another one eventually--they charge for the second one. It's a buck fifty. You can afford it. We started with a manchego cheese plate, an asparagus plate with manchego, and bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops were excellent--big and juicy and tender and warm. The bacon wrapped around it was more like Canadian (back) bacon, and it was quite good. The asparagus was cold, maybe cooked just barely. Not my thing. The cheese was cheese. The first two dishes also come with a chocolate balsamic sauce which is interesting, and a pretty good fit for the dishes. I wouldn't order it special, myself, but you might like it. I also had a brandy alexander which I thought, I've never had one, what the hell, give it a try. I had no idea what it was. It comes in a martini glass. I'm not exactly a martini guy. But hey, I took a flyer on it. It's an interesting drink, a real nurser (not a chugger). My wife had the pinot noir. It's wine. My wife was getting full but I wanted something more, so I got the steak skewer (pincho de carne). Really good, really tender. I recommend that if you're a beef person. All that came out to $122 after tax and before tip. It also includes a 3.5% "market price" charge, basically for using a credit card. We paid cash. I told them we were going to pay cash. They included the charge anyway. So, I shorted them by about 3.5% of what I would normally have paid including the tip had I used a card. Follow? The waiter/owner/manager was very cordial and responsive whenever we needed anything else. The guy serving the water was older, maybe even the waiter's dad, who knows. Very cordial guy, too. The people there are good. I'm not sure we're coming back because a lot of the food simply wasn't our thing, but if you like tapas, I'd say, give this one a try. First of all, there was an automatic 20% tip on the bill. That being said, the service was lousy. Most of the food arrived cold and they tried to charge us for octopus that never arrived. However the portion size was too small for the price and was served with a ridiculous amount of green coated with a vinaigrette. Delicious for sure, but if I want a salad, I'll order a salad. Give me a larger portion of tortilla for that price. Meatballs (albóndigas) were tasty. My daughter loved the octopus. I enjoyed the paella. Perfectly sized for 2-3 people. For my last review of 2022, I have to say I do love this location. I believed a second location was opened, I had visited the original location on Ashland. It turns out that location had closed. Which was told by our server, which was phenomenal he made our experience amazing. Hats off to him. Very clean and spacious location, plenty of space. With seating at the bar. Friendly staff as I mentioned. Our server went above and behind. The food was top notch, the sangria was amazing. The taste is one of a kind. The pitcher is the best option, perfect for two people or more. I am thankful for the new location, about an 8 to 10 minute walk from the western blue line stop. The food is outstanding! Every dish I have had has been amazing. The atmosphere and ambiance is great and comfortable. Service... the red haired bartender likes to jump in on conversations adding judgmental Christian comments. If you ask for shots on a Sunday and use the term "Sunday funday" he'll correct you saying "this is Christ's day". I've eaten there several times and somehow he's the only staff member that has waited on us and each time, he always says something religious and judgmental. We stopped by Bulerias with a party of three on a cold, rainy Chicago night and when we walked in, there wasn't a single person there! So weird for such a fantastic restaurant! We were greeted right as we walked in and were taken care of immediately. The server went over drink specials and how Tapas work! Though we were familiar with the family style of Tapas, it's always nice that they take the time to explain before we looked at the menu. I order a Paloma after hearing they didn't have the liquor necessary to make a capirinha (sad) but the Paloma was awesome! Our table ordered four different dishes to share, one mushroom dish, one chicken dish, one steak dish, and one cheese dish. I really wish I would've taken pictures but the food smelled so good that we dug in right away! Each dish, though unique, was fantastic! My personal favorite was the steak dish because the gravy that was included on it was to DIE for. I will definitely frequent this place when I am back in the area! My friend and I had dinner early; I was there around 6 PM. There was not a soul when I got there and I loved it, the music was at a perfect volume for me to hang out while I waited for my friend and even when she got there, it was very easy to hear her. I ordered a "Tinto de verano," because it is my favorite Spaniard drink and it was good! Note that the bartender and waiter is the same person, at least the night I was there. He was incredibly fast and attentive. Everything I ordered was brought in a timely manner and surpassed my expectations. REMEMBER, tapas plates are smaller portions. I got the following: Iberico ham platter: Perfect to split between two or three people, depending on your appetite. It comes with bread and cheese. Chorizo empanadas: It comes with 5 small empanadas and two, very savory, sauces. These empanadas are THE BOMB. Last but not least, Spanish Chorizo: The chorizo comes on a bed of potatoes or as they call it "patatas," and I asked them to make them spicy or "patatas bravas," which if you can handle spice should be an awesome plate for you. The chorizo was the best plate I had and I ended up eating it all by myself. IT WAS AMAZING. The price for two people to split a few dishes is perfect. We ordered the larger skirt steak, the herb roasted chicken, the bacon wrapped dates, a large salad, a sangria, and 2 glasses of wine. It was just over $100 before tip. Not bad at all. The portion sizes were decent too. Every item was ok to good. Nothing was great though. Great new spot in Logan/Wicker. Super cute inside with a bar and regular seating. Pretty dim inside. We started with the bacon wrapped dates which were good but not anything too special. Then we had the patatas bravas which are basically their version of fries but they were really good. Well seasoned and comes with a mayo sauce and a spicy marinara (yum!). The beef empanadas were also very good but your typical good empanada. The best thing we had that everyone should order are the pinchos de pollo. They are chicken skewers that are so delicious and a side of caramelized onions and rice which were both incredibly yummy! Lastly, we ended with the paella marinera. We really wanted the paella negra but they were out of it but the one we got was not bad. I'm admittedly a paella snob though so it wasn't my favorite but I would eat it again! read more

Food was great, service not so much. Sangria was awesome!! As for food we ordered the dates, goat cheese, meatballs, ribs, patatas bravas, and a chicken dish. Meatballs were the favorite. Everything else was great with the exception of the patatas bravas which were covered in a unappetizing overly spicy slime. Potatoes should be crispy, not soggy guys and the spice isn't adding anything. Annoying part was that the waitress assured us that she didn't like spicy things and they were not very spicy. We later informed her they were way too spicy and didn't eat more than a bite. Would have been a nice touch for her to just remove them from the bill at that point. Service was the low point. It's not a big place. There were at least 3 front of house people staffed for the 3 occupied tables, however only one of the ladies was tending to the tables. I can understand it might take a while for the food to come out (which it did) while a new restaurant works out the kinks but when you've been sitting awkwardly trying to make eye contact, waiting for someone to ask for the bill for 10 mins and then it takes another 15 mins for them to bring out your bill, another 10 mins to process payment while the whole time some guy stands behind an empty bar, that's just annoying. read more

The server and busser were really nice, but with only the two of them holding down the fort on a Saturday night, the service was slow and we often waited a long time for refills and to order more tapas. Went in on Valentine's Day and expected it to be super packed... thankfully we were able to snag a reservation on open table. It's super low key. A very nice spot without having to go too deep into west town or downtown or any other place that's hard to snag parking. I appreciated this quality restaurant bringing a gem to the Humboldt neighborhood. The ambiance is nice and romantic, very true to tapas-spanish feel. The dishes we had were shrimp, goat cheese platter, and chicken skewers;All were amazing! I could make a post about how perfect their goat cheese dish is alone! Very generous portion sizes for tapas. Super reasonable and in line with tapas market pricing. Service was great. The only heads up is their is live flamingo music sometimes...and it's very loud for the space but it adds to the feel. If you want a quiet date make sure to check online and see if their will be live music. P.S: The five stars is based on the food alone as the flamingo singer dressed a bit immodestly and their is no sign on the restaurant but snag a good back seat...look away and enjoy the shrimp and goat cheese dish! read more
