Had a rez for a party of 7 at 9pm on NYE. when we arrived, they told us it was going to be a 40 minute wait. I was not thrilled. However something changed and we were able to be seated only 10 min after our reservation time. What the heck is the point of a reservation if it doesn't actually secure you a table? I watched our server spend 10 min catering to the table next to us, but we couldn't even flag him down to get more water. Food came out fresh and most dishes were well prepared. Back of house earns 5/5 for this visit. Front of house earned 1/5, so 3/5 feels pretty generous. Expectations are always higher on a holiday. if you can't execute, consider being closed, having more staff on hand, or limiting your seating.

My friend was in town from Austin and had an admittedly rather large group of us (like 9-10 people) walk-in to Mama Delia for drinks and apps to catch up. The Mama Delia crew was super, super helpful and appreciated for grabbing our group a table in the back and allowing us to just kind of show up during Happy Hour and take over the space. I ended up ordering a like Earl Grey Tea + vodka cocktail off the menu, and this one came with peppercorns, I loved it!! Order it, it's super unique and obviously crafted by a mixologist. I didn't end up eating there because I had dinner plans, BUT the menu looked good, and everyone around me seemed to enjoy their apps. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just wanna give MD their flowers for letting us hang out unannounced![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a breathtaking establishment. I was completely blown away. It's like you stepped into a romantic town in a movie for a bite to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu did not disappoint. While I didn't know what to order, my server for the night was a dream to have. She helped me to pick out items, was knowledgeable and patient. My drink, the cobbler, was so refreshing and light. It was a perfectly mixed drink. I then had the patatas which was a burst of flavor in my mouth. The aioli sauce on top was so tasty. The gilda was okay. It has a very rich and salty flavor. For dessert I had the torta vasca. I almost didn't get it because of the onion chutney. But let me tell that the blend of flavors worked so well. Sweet and savory. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, this is a great spot to stop by if you are in the area. It's romantic. It's whimsical even. It's the place to be![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really cute ambiance for a girls night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like that the plates were shareable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Was not super impressed with the food but the ambiance itself made up for a lot of the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very calm with lots of ambient lighting and unique cushions and furniture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant itself was busy but the service was good and food came out quickly.

We had a reservation but they told us the only open table was a communal table where we may need to share with other guests. We ordered the scallops, a salad and the paella. The scallops were extremely salty but the paella was pretty good.

One of my favorite spots to hitup in Wicker Park...no matter the season. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've sat on the very nice patio in summer and inside during cold winters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also love that its downstairs from one of my favorite cocktail lounges, Bordel. Great Spanish tapas going on here and I've never had a bad meal at Mama Delia. Some highlights are: Arroz Negro (Squid ink paella) Get it! Datiles De La Mancha (Goat Cheese Smoked Dates w/fig & bacon) Jamon Ibericos Cinco Jotas Crispy Sunchokes Presa Drinks are awesome as well. Grab an old fashioned or a nice sangria....decent wine selection as well. Always great service here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Setting is nice and fantastic for dates or group outings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Lunch at this neighborhood Spanish restaurant, the Gazpacho was really amazing. Inside beautiful decor, you feel like you could be in Spain.

Came here for restaurant week on a Saturday night at 9pm. It's street parking so better to take an Uber or park in a garage. The restaurant was interesting. We checked in at the front then was brought up through a flight of stairs. The vibe and decorations gave off a very homey feel. We started off with some drinks and the drinks were all very tasty. We came for the pre fixed dinner menu so we got to pick 2 starters, 1 entre and 1 dessert. We couldn't believe that they ran out of the croquettes! It was sad that we couldn't order it, since everyone raves about it. We got the peppers, sardines and the jamon platter to start off. Then we got the pork cheek and the shrimp dish as the entree. The pork cheek dish was super good! We also ordered a paella (squid ink). That was delicious! We then got the 2 desserts. I gotta say, there is something in the hazelnut ice cream dessert that tasted weird. It was like a bitter taste. Overall, this was a great place for a last minute restaurant week. Will have to come back again to try to the croquettes!

I'm obsessed!! The sweetest staff/best vibes. This place is huge! Service was very quick, bringing everything out in increments. I had the daiquiri to drink which was phenomenal, rum and banana is the perfect pair! We had a group of 4, and got a lot to share! Some of my favorite were the scallops and the croquettes. These scallops were amazing, some of the best I have had, melt in your mouth. And the croquettes were so full of flavor. I love this place! They have a little bit of everything! Cant wait to come back!

My favorite part of this place was the atmosphere. I really enjoyed the mosaic tile, cushy seating, and warm ambiance. The stuffed dates were my favorite dish. They really didn't taste very sweet, but the meat and cheese inside them were quite tasty. The croquetas were very soft, but tasty. Not greasy-tasting. The scallops were cooked to a very nice texture and tasted quite good. The green sauce that cane with them was very smoky, and I would probably eat less of it on the scallop next time.

First time trying this place. I would see so many people raving about the food. Personally for my experience it was not anything special. They plated everything beautifully however the taste was just not up to par. The chicken dish we tried was slightly dry. The drink was strong and had a good flavor to it. The overall ambiance was really nice, loved the way they decorated. Not sure, maybe it was an off day but not overly impressed and don't see the hype unfortunately.

At this point in our food tour we had already eaten A LOT, so we gave our server the assignment: pick two of your favorite dishes for us. He absolutely nailed it. I started with the patatas, which were a good bar-style bite, followed by the croquetas de setas. The croquetas had a nice crisp exterior with a savory mushroom filling, making them particularly well suited for sharing. I also tried the sliders, which were a nice addition to the spread and substantial enough to keep the happy hour from feeling like it was all small bites. For drinks, I went with both a martini and a margarita. Having both was a good way to experience the range of the cocktail menu, and they paired nicely with the food. Overall, Boqueria's happy hour makes sense for an after-work stop or a casual evening when you want good drinks and a selection of smaller plates. A nice way to get a taste of the restaurant without sitting down for a full meal.

The patatas bravas were flavorful. The garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly. The fried calamari was the only dish that missed the mark for us, as it was a bit too greasy. The highlight of the meal was the seafood paella. Both the shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly, but what really impressed us was the rice. Paella can be difficult to get right, and the rice had excellent texture and flavor, making the dish a pleasure to eat. We ended with the butterscotch custard which was perfect and the almond caramel bar. After several disappointing dining experiences during our short trip to Chicago, Café Ba-Ba-Reeba finally delivered a meal that left us satisfied. The service was great.
