Oysters, Rockefeller

Oh my goodness! When I tell you not only did this place have excellent food, but the people were so nice! I actually went there by myself. I was treated so very kindly! And I did not have one bad bite! I will definitely be going back! I can't wait!

What a great option steps away from McCormick place convention center. Surprisingly high end (and expensive) but still felt casual. We started with a dozen oysters - two each of six different kinds. A very nice mix. The crab cake starter was NOT a typical Midwest version. This was 99% crab and no filler. Well seasoned. Lobster bisque was good. They also have a variety of sushi and my husband enjoyed the rainbow roll. We had no alcohol and our party of two had a 20% gratuity automatically added and about 10% in sales tax so the bill was just over $200. Hadn't anticipated that but an enjoyable evening and arguably worth it.

Chicago Oyster House definitely had the oysters IN THE HOUSE. I came to participate in the National Oyster Week Special being that this was one of the few locations to have unlimited oysters. The menu was only available in the bar area. I waited 5 minutes to be checked in for my reservation and my seat at the bar was already prepared for me. The decor and ambiance was for intimate date nights or drinks and chatting with a friend or family member. Overall I enjoyed every oyster and the garlic bread was VERY soft and butter Not pictured a glass of Riocondo Rose Prosecco

Cute, trendy little restaurant. We stopped by on a rainy Wednesday on a whim while on business in the city. We were craving oysters so we ordered the platter that had 2 of each grilled oysters. All were just okay - a little too watery. We also got the clamp chowder (amazing), the crab cake, and a sushi roll that had crab inside and steak on top - it was alright but needed something else such as jalapeno or a sauce. We enjoyed our dinner enough, but we were expecting more for the price we paid.

Oysters. Was suppose to be medium in size. Wondered what small looked like. Mariano's on Friday's serve bigger ones for $1 each.

I wanted to love this place. At least like the place. But no.... I should've went with the reviews and I wouldn't be out of $253 for garbage. Let's start with the positives, because the customer service is on point. Friendly from beginning to end. Even tried to find out sports team on the TV. They always checked on us through the meal. Love good service. Now the food.. if your main thing is Oysters than this is the #1 thing that should be on point. The medium oysters were very small and not the delicious plump ones I had at other places. The seafood pasta dish.. the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery and the marinara sauce was just terrible. It was dry and the other seafood was just blah. I love sushi.. it was also blah. The drinks were ok but overpriced. My wife had $15 side dish of asparagus because everything is ala carte. Her Chilean sea bass was actually cooked pretty well and so was the asparagus just extremely overpriced. The key lime pie we took to go had way too much lime in it. All in all I would never go back here.

Surf and turf special (butterflied shrimp)

Despite the name, there are many menu choices besides oysters. No one in our party had oysters. Several of us enjoyed the surf and turf special- 4oz filet with grilled shrimp. I appreciated not having to order an 8-10oz filet and wasting food. Service was exceptional. Our server handled a food allergy very well. Nice to have a coat rack up front.

Nothing is lackluster about this restaurant! The food was on point and seasoned well. We had garlic mash, garlic bread, New York strip and the sea bass! The service was excellent she was attentive but not to the point where it was bothersome. It's a small quaint place with great ambiance.

I was at a conference and went alone to Chicago Oyster House. I sat at the bar. The bartender was phenomenal. She made terrific recommendations. I started with a sake martini and a selection of grilled oysters. They were delicious. I then had the Blackhawks sushi roll. It was amazing. The bar area is attractive and comfortable. Food and drinks are a good value. I'm looking forward to going back!

Lobster roll and calamari

My daughter and I were going to the theater and decided to give this place a try beforehand. We found street parking right around the corner and in having a reservation we didn't have to wait at all. In fact it was so early in the evening that there were only two other tables. We had the calamari and the lobster roll for appetizers, both were very good. (The lobster roll comes with fried pickles, which we did not care for.) They cut the lobster roll in half for us and by the time we finished those two things we didn't have a whole lot of room, so we ordered one sushi roll each. We had the Chicago and the Volcano and they were perfect. We had one drink each and splurged on brownie a la mode ($14!) for dessert. Their prices are a bit on the high side, plus they add a 20% service charge to every bill. I didn't mind this because they are upfront about it and tell you on the receipt that the service charge is divided among the staff, and you have the option to tip additional to your server, although it's only "suggested." And they have a few amounts calculated for you. Our server was Beckie and she was very attentive so I did add more. It was $175 for the two of us so we won't do it often, but everything was fresh and delicious so for special occasions it would be great.

First time dining at the Chicago Oyster House in years, but unlikely that it will be our last visit. Delicious Cocktails--a traditional Espresso Martini and truly unique Tiramisu Martini. Highly recommended. A good but not great slightly limited wine list was the only disappointment. The food was generally outstanding. If you want a really different soup experience I urge you to try the Gumbalaya Soup: slow-cooked brown roux sprinkled with thyme, tomato, onion, garlic, celery, green bell pepper, paprika, okra, chicken, andouille sausage, rice, mussels and shrimp. The grilled oyster offerings were plentiful and the raw oyster options sufficiently varied. To experience the oyster options I urge you to order the Grilled Oysters Combo comprised of 2 of each C.O.H -- garlic, cilantro and cheese; ICHI -- jalapeño, scallions, ginger and zesty soy; FIRECRACKER -- spices, herbs and lime juice; and the traditional Oysters Rockefeller offering -- spinach and cheeses. We didn't think there was room left for entrees so we had two remarkably fresh seafood appetizers: Crab Cakes consisting of lump crab meat seasoned and baked not pan fried (refreshing); and, the Lobster Roll -- succulent tail meat served chilled New England style with mayo and celery salt in toasted bun with deliciously seasoned fried pickles. Tiramisu and coffee for dessert completed a wonderful meal.

New England Clam Chowder

We had dinner here during restaurant week. I chose the clam chowder, lamb chops, and cheesecake. I could not have been more impressed. The chowder was full of large pieces of clam and had a beautiful creaminess. I've never had lamb that was this tender before and it was cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with cheesecake that had a rich creamy consistency. The wait staff anticipated every need we had before we knew we had it. Neither of us had ever had oysters on the shell before and our waitress helped us pick out a selection that was perfect. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of the restaurant week offerings.

She asked what we liked, helped us navigate the beer selection and recommended a hazy that was spot on. While we were still talking, our beers magically appeared. She laughed and said, "Welcome to Fatpour. This is the service you'll always receive here." That perfectly captured Jess. She wasn't just doing her job--she genuinely cared. We noticed the same woman constantly jumping in to help the staff. Jess smiled and called her the "captain of this ship." Watching her manager work was just as impressive. She wasn't standing around acting like the boss she was right beside her team bringing drinks, grabbing dishes and helping wherever needed. We asked Jess if she ever felt nervous having her manager around, who we found out is the General Manager and her answer said everything. she loves when her manager is there. She told us her manager supports her, teaches rather than tears people down, and still holds everyone accountable when necessary. Jess told us she has felt supported all around since her first day and that her colleagues have truly become like a family. Honorable shoutout also to the gentleman who was working amongst them with the rad leg tattoo! We dont hope just Fat Pour is here next time we visit but that this same crew is here

Reggie's is best known as the sports bar near the McCormick Center station. For those wanting a dive bar experience, the lower part is pretty cool. The rooftop is where it's at though, so make your way to the upstairs. Back in the day they used to have more specials that brought people in on weekdays at the upstairs bar. It unfortunately doesn't have most of these anymore, and also doesn't seem to have as large as crowds. The last time here there were only a few others on the rooftop. A good thing about that was service was fast. The prices are unfortunately what have increased. It's about $10 for Long Island iced teas, which used to be cheap. These were still pretty strong though. It's about $9 for shareable bites. We got the Hummus. It came with quite a lot to dip. There was a generous amount of pita slices and vegetables. Atmosphere here still is pretty cool. There's a pool table and they still play hip music. Good to use the bathroom before. It's pretty gross, especially the one on the rooftop. The weather can play a part too, as the rain gets in everywhere, including on those at the pool table.

Apologies was nearby our hotel, the Marriott Marquis. We started with a cappuccino and an O.J. Both were perfect and my daughter commented that it tasted like they had just fresh squeezed the oranges moments ago. We considered ordering the pastry tower, but instead opted to share three dishes. It eneded up being more food than we could finish. Portion sizes were big, especially for the quality and price. We shared 1 savory and 2 sweet dishes: the banana business croissant, the warm cinnamon roll, and the fritatta Espinosa. Each one completely impressed us and we're so delicious. We told the server we couldn't belive they were both baking high end pastries like this and preparing amazing savory dishes. Overall, our service was quick and friendly. The room was clean, spacious and modern. If I visit Chicago again from the East Coast, I would happily visit Apolonia again. I would love to try some of the brunch drinks and more items.

They were really fast and good at getting us out super promptly, which was appreciated. I didn't take a photo of everything we ate so I don't remember all of what we ordered. The food was good but a four stars because some items were really delicious (the black truffle bread and mussels toast for example, maybe some of the pastas) but some of the items were just fine (e.g., red prawn carpaccio). If Yelp did fractional stars, I'd probably do a 4.5 or 4.25, but because the food is more expensive I expect every dish to be more impressive. I found the pistachio dessert that a lot of people mentioned in the reviews to be underwhelming although fun to look at (however what I care about is taste).
