I chose the petite wedge salad, with grilled salmon, while my daughter and boyfriend both had the poke bowl. The wedge salad was excellent... hard boiled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, bleu cheese, and delicious dressing. Booked this place to eat on OpenTable. This place is located upstairs. You'll need to take the stairs upwards to get there where you'll find this place very trendy with a lot of customers. Noise wise it was happening - music, people enjoying their food, drinks etc. The one dish that stood out the best for me was the mussels and clams. It was so good. The broth had a kick to it that was good!!! I could have literally drank it all up but I ordered a side bread to continue my feats of enjoying the umami flavor!! The Caesar salad was huge and was served whole leaves which everyone in our group enjoyed. I had ordered the prime rib sandwich and it was good. I was so full from the appetizers that I took the remaining of my sandwich home and worked out and enjoyed the rest of my sandwich as a late snack. Our waitress was very friendly and nice. I found this place through a local friend. It has become my new go-to when I am in town. If you have ever been to a Houston's or a Hillstone, this place has the same vibe... Perfect lighting. Impeccable service. It is fancy without being pretentious. The staff are all very accommodating and very professional. The kitchen and sushi bar are open, so you can see the works of art coming out. We've had two trips to Chicago and both times we have eaten here, absolutely love it. It's fairly quiet at lunch and we love a good bar seating between shopping. Dinner was a bit loud but not intolerable, just a different fun vibe. We sat by the windows but I think towards the back it may have been a bit more quiet. The escalator was down and although there was an arrow, it was still confusing. We actually had to ask security at the building next door how to enter. We started by saying we wanted the Restaurant Week lunch menu, but the waitress seemed a little clueless about it. We later realized it's basically the same as their corporate lunch menu. She also seemed like she might have been having a bad day, but service aside, the rest of the experience was pretty good. I had the chicken club and my friend had the wagyu hot dog. The Evie is located on the second floor of a building on the Magnificent Mile. Be sure to make an advance reservation to be able to get a table and I suggest asking for a window seat table if you actually want the views over looking the Mile. I did not make that request, so our booth was set away from the street-views. The ambiance is great for a date night or work dinner and we did have good customer service from our waiter. We each ordered an old fashioned and felt it was average. Overall we were impressed at the food quality and surprised by some of the flavors. My friends noted the spice level with both the hot dog relish and the salsa side for the artichoke dip. The carrots were my highlight as there was some good roasted notes with the garlic toum and a price that can't be beat ($5). As time progressed, it was very noticeable how popular this restaurant is. Our service was great overall, we sat at the bar as there were extra guests at the table. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. One review I read mentioned the char taste being bitter and a bit overwhelming and that is how i felt about the steak and broccolini. We ordered it medium and it was a little more medium-rare. I was a huge fan of Bandera, the place that occupied this space for years. Once I saw Evie came into play, I didnt know what to make of it. I often wondered were changes made or if they did a major overhaul of the space. I stopped in for lunch recently since I was nearby and as I walked in, I realized nothing had changed except for The Evie being on the walls. Took a look at the menu and noticed it was damn near the same as I remembered Bandera, except now there is sushi. Grabbed a seat at the bar since it was just me and started with an old fashioned...the homie Alex makes a pretty good one. I saw on this site the mag mile sushi roll was very popular so I had no choice but to get it. Walked in with a group of 5 people for dinner on a Friday night and were able to quickly score a 5 seater circular table that had a great view of Michigan Ave/Magnificent Mile. I had no idea this place had sushi offerings, but it's actually a quite large portion of the food menu. Our server Paige was nice and efficient throughout our meal and provided great service / checked up on us quite a bit. All in all, the food and drinks are pretty great here. I often feel like restaurants downtown are kinda corny but this was definitely more of an experience! The ambiance was great, but they were still accommodating to the children in our party! This place is located on Michigan Ave above the Allen Edmonds shop. Came here for happy hour which runs till 6 PM. They had a few wines for $10 as well as select spirits. The menu was a little unclear as to what the cocktails were but we asked the bartender and he gave us some options. We got a French 75 and old fashioned. The old fashioned was a bit diluted since it was only 2 oz of whiskey with a lot of ice but I enjoyed my French 75 which was the proper amount. We also got a spicy tuna roll for $12 which came with 8 pieces and spinach artichoke dip for $9 which came with chips and sides of salsa and sour cream. It is a dimly lit, warm restaurant nice for a date but lively enough to let old friends enjoy themselves without feeling self conscious. The volume of food here was overwhelming. We got the Restaurant Week menu and felt we could have ordered one order for two people and would have been satisfied. That said, we got 2 orders and ate it all! The smoked salmon appetizer could have been an entree. It was moist and full of flavor and served with 6 toast points that were well buttered. The other appetizer was a soup that was also wonderful. The entree for my partner was a pork chop with greens cooked to perfection and nice and thick. The beef, mushrooms, and carrots I got were also great. I was so full, I left some of the mushrooms (and I love them). Luckily I have that extra stomach for dessert--the key lime pie was solid and I had the tres leches cake--divine! Spontaneous dinner on a Friday, driving into Chicago for a weekend getaway, hungry and ready to kick things off right. My wife pulled up Yelp on the drive in. Evie popped up, looked great, checked for a reservation, nothing available. Didn't matter. We were pulling into the city hungry at 5:30, short walk from the hotel to meet our friends, it was going to be a food night, and all four of us wanted good food and good drinks at a good place. So we walked in anyway. The hostess didn't flinch. Warm, welcoming, got us in without a reservation and put us right next to a window overlooking Michigan Avenue. Not a bad way to start a weekend in Chicago. The space is beautiful, upscale without being stiff, the kind of place that actually lives up to its photos, which isn't always a given. Our waitress was perfect. Attentive without hovering, knew the menu, never rushed us. The kind of service where you don't notice it because everything just...works. The food was the real story. We went hard on sushi, the Osaka Style Pressed Sushi, Red Dragon Roll, Volcano Roll, and the Signature Roll, and every one of them landed. The Osaka is sashimi-style ahi tuna stacked with avocado and spicy tuna, the Volcano comes loaded with Maine lobster, and the Red Dragon brings the heat with shrimp tempura, spicy crab and jalapeño. Don't overlook the starters either, the Fresh Baked Bread, Smoked Carrots, and Spinach & Artichoke Dip all earned their place on the table. Drinks were on point across the board. My friend's wife went with the Midnight in Peru, Hendrick's with chicha morada purple corn, pineapple and honey syrup, and was evangelical about it all night. My wife went off menu with a gin and pineapple and the bar handled it without missing a beat. My buddy and I locked in on the Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, private barrel Wolf Point bourbon, and look...we had multiples. Each. Zero regrets, full accountability. Worth it? Completely. Great food, great drinks, great company, great view. Honestly could not have picked a better first stop if we'd planned it for months.
