    Earthy, upscale atmosphere.

Located in the heart of Magnificent Mile, hidden away on the second level across from Men's Warehouse sits the reinvented gem of Chicago, The Evie. Formerly 'Bandera", a legendary restaurant with live jazz, The Evie sets out to redefine the space with amazing food, modern earthly flair and a great relaxing feel that soothes you after a long day downtown. The plates are large, the drinks are strong and they have possibly the best spinach dip I've had in my life. Its got a pretty hefty price tag, but you get your money's worth. If you want a hidden, cozy, chill spot to treat yourself to a real meal and drink, Check out The Evie.

I found this place through a local friend. It has become my new go-to when I am in town. If you have ever been to a Houston's or a Hillstone, this place has the same vibe... Perfect lighting. Impeccable service. It is fancy without being pretentious. The staff are all very accommodating and very professional. The kitchen and sushi bar are open, so you can see the works of art coming out. Located on Michigan Ave, atop a building, the view is electric from the windows. The music is always the right volume. The lighting is just the right amount of dimly lit warm lights. There is not a bad thing on the menu. For real. They keep the menu small, and execute perfectly. Love this place!

In the mood for sushi without having to get in a cab or rideshare. Convenient to the Marriott.on N. Miracle Mile. Hip, classic vibe with a great bar for solo patrons. Nice bartenders who are efficient and attentive. Dirty Greek martini is excellent. The kalamata blue cheese olives and hint of cucumber are excellent. The Mag Mile Roll hit the spot. Great sauce, texture (soft and crunchy), and flavor. Tough not to order another roll but was tempted by the "hand-cut" fries. false advertising becuase they were nothing more than frozen shoestring fries. Pass. Would return to try something more meat and potatoes.

Nice ambience and sushi. Great location, good overall service, so no complaints. A bit on a higher price tag.

What a pleasant surprise this was! Just needed to find someone serving brunch close by an event at the Marriott (across the street) and hit the jackpot! Sat by the window overlooking Michigan Ave. Beautiful! Our server Juan was outstanding. Started with beignets which were warm and tasty I got the Hugo Spritz cuz I love elderflower. It was delightful Started with shrimp Rangoon roll I don't eat sushi often so I was delighted that it tasted so good. Then I had the breakfast skillet. Eggs are how you want. I loved it esp since it had a bit of jalenpeño in it. Definitely going back

We've had two trips to Chicago and both times we have eaten here, absolutely love it. It's fairly quiet at lunch and we love a good bar seating between shopping. Dinner was a bit loud but not intolerable, just a different fun vibe. We sat by the windows but I think towards the back it may have been a bit more quiet. This last trip we ate dinner one night and lunch the next day. The waiter remembered us and gave us delightful service. It's becoming a tradition for us, highly recommend!

So glad I checked out The Evie! Moody lighting, on the 2nd floor with windows, buzz of lively conversations, background music, this place has a very movie-esque feel. Loved the vibes, the food, and the service. The smoked carrots -- wow! So surprising that carrots could be Delicious!! Something about the garlic sauce, pepper flakes, delicate sweet, BEETS, and pumpkin seeds, that create this fantastic flavor that you must try for yourself! Also had two sushi rolls, both were so tasty! Only thing I missed was trying their cocktails. Next time!

Came here to celebrate anniversary. The food was really good! Bread & Butter was a very good starter. Bread was super warm and soft, but definitely made our hands really messy because of the grease. Portions of entrees are large. Prime Rib sandwich was loaded with meat. Very juicy and flavorful. I'd say the crust for white fish was flakey. It adds texture to the dish, but overall still very tender. They also have a variety of drinks. But it is pricey probably due to location.

Street parking is rare in River North - good luck! Popped in for lunch. Seated quickly and service was good. Spacious interior with many tables. Veggie burger - the patty didn't hold well and broke apart as you were eating it. Chicago hotdog - exactly how you would imagine it. Chicago style means no ketchup so get your Chicago on.

Here's your fully updated Yelp review with those details added: Went here for lunch during Chicago Restaurant Week while celebrating my friend's birthday and overall we had a good experience. The restaurant is from the same owners as Wildberry Cafe and it's located in the old Bandera space on Michigan Ave, so the location is great. The only challenge at first was getting in. The escalator was down and although there was an arrow, it was still confusing. We actually had to ask security at the building next door how to enter. We started by saying we wanted the Restaurant Week lunch menu, but the waitress seemed a little clueless about it. We later realized it's basically the same as their corporate lunch menu. She also seemed like she might have been having a bad day, but service aside, the rest of the experience was pretty good. I had the chicken club and my friend had the wagyu hot dog. Both were really good and came out fresh. The only thing I didn't really care for was the key lime pie. Everything else was solid and it was still a nice spot for a birthday lunch. I would come back and give it another try.

The Evie is located on the second floor of a building on the Magnificent Mile. Be sure to make an advance reservation to be able to get a table and I suggest asking for a window seat table if you actually want the views over looking the Mile. I did not make that request, so our booth was set away from the street-views. The ambiance is great for a date night or work dinner and we did have good customer service from our waiter. However, the food prices are a bit on the high side for what you get. I got the lobster roll, which was $55 and only came with a side of french fries that were way undercooked. Also tried the pomme puree mashed potatoes and smoked carrot sides that were good.

    Quiana S.

It was my first time coming here and it owes me nothing. You have the views of Michigan Avenue and great service. They start you off with complementary beignets and on the weekends. They have a fabulous brunch menu. We got the Rangoon sushi roll as an appetizer and it was delicious. It tasted just like a crab regular but in sushi form. My friend and I opted for the skillets and it was so flavorful why my other friend did a build your omelette with smoked salmon goat cheese in Spanish. She said it was delicious. The cocktails were $10 and we each had two and they did not disappoint. Our server Jose was so nice and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

Happy hour review Happy hour specials only available at the bar - which has limited seating. We were able to sneak in right before 6 and order a couple of items for our party of 3. We each ordered an old fashioned and felt it was average. Overall we were impressed at the food quality and surprised by some of the flavors. My friends noted the spice level with both the hot dog relish and the salsa side for the artichoke dip. The carrots were my highlight as there was some good roasted notes with the garlic toum and a price that can't be beat ($5). As time progressed, it was very noticeable how popular this restaurant is. Both the bar and restaurant filled up to the point that folks were standing near the bar with their drinks and mingling with others. If you're shopping near the area, the Evie would be a great spot to pop in and take a meal break esp during happy hour.

Is this restaurant kid friendly (ages 7-10 well versed in restaurants) for an earlyish dinner, 6:30p?

I would say absolutely. Well, the bar area is very busy. The tables accommodate families very nicely.

    What's the parking situation?

You will need to find parking. There is street parking on Ohio or on Grand. There is a parkinglot on Fairbanks and Ohio or you can pay a lot at Marriott across the street. No valet that I've ever seen.

Are they strict on the dress code?

    It's casual

The first thing I noticed walking in was the ambiance. Nice decor with a city hotspot feel. We had a teen and tween with us and both found something on the menu. Most of us ordered bowls with sesame sauce which were delicious. We each ordered different meats with our bowls and no complaints. My son had a crispy chicken sandwich which he devoured and my daughter had a quesadilla which they prepared especially for her without any sauce. Everything was tasty. We had a problem with our order when my daughter found a small piece of plastic wrapper in her food. We told our waiter and he immediately informed management. The manager came over and offered a new plate but my daughter was fine having the current plate. So instead, she comped her meal and gave her a choice of dessert with a gigantic milk. Despite the minor glitch, this place deserves 5 stars for the way they handled this issue. We feel they went above and beyond to remedy the situation. If only all restaurant management were like this. If we are ever in Chicago again, we will be back.

No notes. The sandwich had candied bacon on it with this perfect sweet flavor, and it normally comes with honey Dijon--but I don't do Dijon, so I swapped it for this garlic sauce ‍ And when I say that garlic tanginess mixed with the sweet candied bacon... whew. Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. It is a must visit - if only all hotel restaurants were this good. We had a late dinner reservation on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was almost emptied out. So that made for a lovely, semi-private dining experience. Selecting a wine was dicey, as earlier that week flooding had damaged the cellar (!), but our server, Alex, was very helpful and worked with us to find something to my liking. We landed on a 2015 Cornas which was showing beautifully and matched perfectly with our meal. Alex did a fantastic job taking care of us during the wine reconnaissance and throughout the meal. Speaking of which, we started with the deviled eggs, which were amazing. An elegant balance of cream and salt from the caviar. For my entree, i had the venison. It was a seared filet on I believe a sweet potato puree, and it was rich and tender. Order it rare, if its on the menu. Kelly had the filet, also rare, and found it to be superior to most Chicago steak house filets. Our side was the divinely creamy Aligot mashed potatoes. Don't skip on these! For dessert, there was a decadent, gout-tempting chocolate mousse preparation. Served tableside, its all you think you can eat. I had a heaping serving, ate some, took the rest home. Kelly had the (also) Decadent Chocolate Cake, which too was superb. Cocktails were excellent, as is the bourbon selection. Service was impeccable. In fact, I don't think I've ever been spoken to so rudely at a in my life. From reading other reviews, it seems this is the norm for this particular server. To their credit, it appeared that the restaurant was understaffed in terms of servers. However, it's unacceptable to speak to customers that way. Finally, there was an issue with the food. I ordered a beef pot pie with potatoes on the side. The potatoes came very quickly, and were delicious. Unfortunately the rest of my food and my dining partners' food did not arrive until at least 10 minutes later. I can understand that mixups happen, but I was annoyed because I could see that the rest of our dishes were sitting under the heating lamp but no one delivered them to our table for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, 2 tables near us who had arrived significantly after us, had already received all of their food and started eating. When I received my beef and gravy pie, it was dried out (having ordered this the past 2 visits, I knew it wasn't right). Based on this recent experience, I don't think I'd return.
