Upon entry you have a speakeasy-vibe with hidden door to the restaurant. We opted for the standard 12 course omakase and every bite was fantastic! Service was great and attentive. We also ordered the lychee yuzu cocktail and that was also a good pair with the sushi. Would come again!

The best meal I've ever had! Each course was an experience, each chew was a different flavor note, SPECTACULAR! The GM Skye was amazing and so helpful! She suggested the Sake pairing which you absolutely NEED! Jackie the waitress was so kind, made sure we had everything we needed. The Chef Pete was a genius! Absolute master of his craft, each course was so beautifully plated with complex flavors but simple and clean at the same time. Just wonderful. The vibe of the place was also fantastic, it felt high class but also inviting. Overall, the staff was so kind, considerate and helpful, the chef was a culinary genius and the vibes were spectacular. You have to check this place out!

Love sushi by bou! The sushi is so fresh and so creative. We've gone to all the locations and while the sushi was great, this location is probably lowest on the list. The room is like in a service hallway and you have to wait in the hotel lobby before you go in. The actual dining room is pretty cramped as well. Still a great meal just not my favorite of the locations. Service was great however do want to note it was my actual birthday and they didn't do anything special even though my husband noted it in the reservation and called them before hand. Maybe don't celebrate anything special but otherwise service was great.

Wow!! I don't give 5 stars often. Dinner was phenomenal. The place was cozy and intimate. The staff was amazing, friendly and good service. Being short, it was hard for me to get up on the bar chair. Sebastian was a good chef and the tastes of the different piece was spectacular. Melt in your mouth with flavor that made you want more. First time for omakase. Did not disappoint. Tried some fish that I never had. Being a simple sushi of salmon and unagi. Hamachi, raw scallop, uni all delicious. First time but will not be the last.

From making the reservation online to my entire experience for omakase, my party and I had a great time. Everything went by smoothly and the staff was friendly. Each sushi piece was delicious and well done by the chef Sebastian. We were also helped by Roger and Tashon. My party and I would highly recommend and come back.

My husband and I dined on 2/13/26 at this Sushi by Boū location inside the Emily hotel. Chef Jens was phenomenal, professional, and being served by him was the highlight of our evening but unfortunately many other factors led to a poor overall experience. First off, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get seated. For our 8pm 60-min 17-course Boujee omakase seating, we checked in at 7:55 and were told they were running 15 min late. We did not get seated till 8:35pm. We were then rushed out of the counter seating at 9:15pm and moved to the couch. Meanwhile, there was a party of 8 also seated with us at 8:35pm who continued to sit at the bar counter for at least an additional 10 minutes finishing their wine, beverages and food. We've been to other locations of Sushi by Boū and have never been kicked out of our seating, let alone in under 60 minutes. Additionally, we had planned to get an additional add-on hand roll at the end of the tasting experience, which is always allowed other times we've dined, but were strictly denied and asked to pay the bill because they were "running late." To try to remedy the situation, the bartender brought my husband a sake shot but it felt rather unprofessional and meaningless. Overall, this experience felt quite disappointing and not up-to-par with what we'd expect.

Stopped in on a Monday evening for a birthday dinner and decided to try the "Bougie" Omakase experience, which is a 17 course. We absolutely loved how fresh and flavorful each piece was. Me being a newbie decided to ask for soy sauce on the side, later realizing that it was not needed as the chef dresses each piece in its own way. The experience is an hour long but it was just perfect. 10/10

A phenomenal Japanese culinary experience at Sushi by Bou. This has a speakeasy setup, tucked away at the back of Emily hotel. It is best for celebrations or even tasting. The fish quality is very good. Service is really great as well. The chef makes the entire course in front of you. 12 pieces of the adventure costs $65, and 17 pieces costs $100. 20% gratuity is to be added. I highly recommend Sushi By Bou. They only have room for 10 people at a time. Reservations is recommended.

Wow what an omakase experience hidden inside the Emily hotel. A unique experience from the moment you arrive there is a little lounge to have a drink before or after your sushi experience. The menu is listed on the walk in the order you receive the sushi pieces. If you choose the bougie upgrade the additional 5 pieces rotate and change from time to time. The apple high ball cocktail was phenomenal and a nice twist on a classic cocktail. Service was great and the experience with the chef describing everything before each course is wonderful. Overall great experience to try omakase or return for more .

Waited to eat here during restaurant week to get a bang for my buck! This was also my first ever omakase experience and I loved it! For restaurant week, the deal is a 12 course omakase menu for $60. It's located inside the Emily Hotel and is kinda hidden. The place itself is just one small room that only seats about 10 people at the counter. The vibes inside were cool and intimate with hip hop vibes and dim lighting. They were accommodating as I was late to my reservation but thankfully my friend was there on time. Since I was late they just plated my sushi for me so I was able to snag a decent picture! The fish itself was so fresh and it's cool to see the chefs making each piece right in front of you. I used to not like raw sushi but lately it's been growing on me. Cool experience and I highly recommend!

Had Sushi by Bou in Lincoln Park location before so I made a reservation to try this location. I was a bit disappointed; perhaps it comes with expectations. Same menu as Lincoln park location. I didn't like that it's super dark and also feeling crammed without having much personal space with the people next to me. Sushi chefs were not friendly as LP location and they did not engage in any conversation.

Sushi by Bou is my favorite sushi in the city. The fish is fresh, the drinks are delicious, the team is friendly and entertaining and the 90s hip hop theme is so fun. For the price point and experience, I cannot recommend it enough. If you love sushi and want to try an omakase experience, you NEED to try Sushi by Bou!

Sushi by Bou offers a great omakase experience for newcomers who haven't had the experience before. I took advantage of their $70 BOGO deal this summer. The space channels an old school speakeasy atmosphere, which I respect their dedication to the bit but finding restaurant was a tricky. Shoutout to the helpful front desk at the Emily Hotel! I appreciate how casual the whole occasion was. Our chef even moved to give me a better angle to take pictures. Each serving was fresh and it was fun chatting with the chef in between courses. I admittedly have a big appetite and had to grab a bite after my meal. Sushi by Bou does offer an al carte menu for anyone interested at the end of the experience but the venue is small (12 seats) so my friend and I wanted to try something new afterwards.

I could hear the sizzling from the grill, smell the food cooking, and by that point I was more than ready to eat. Our server was really nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations. Everything sounded good, but I ended up going with the Pork Belly Yakisoba. This dish was packed with flavor. The noodles had that smoky, slightly charred taste, and they were coated in just enough sauce to make every bite rich. The sauce brought a nice balance of savory, a little sweetness, and plenty of umami that soaked into the noodles. The pork belly was easily the best part. It was incredibly tender and juicy, with just enough fat that it practically melted in your mouth. Every piece had those caramelized edges that added even more flavor. Then you get the crunch from the cabbage and bean sprouts, the freshness from the scallions, and the little nutty flavor from the sesame that tied everything together. Hahaha I'd definitely come back. This is one of those dishes that sticked with me long after I left.

I got the pork okonomiyaki lunch set and added a fried egg to it. I like that the table has a built in grill to keep it warm (I'm a slow eater, so this is extra beneficial for me). The bacon was quite salty, compounded by the okonomi sauce. Hoping the kombu vegetables would offset this, I mixed them into each bite to no avail. The pandan coconut mochi donut holes I chose were probably the highlight. They were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and there was ample sauce for dipping. I think some people would find the service top notch here--constantly checking in on me and keeping water refilled. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Then wiped his fingers on a dirty rag and proceeded to finish making the bowls. A short time later, we were served that same bowl of ramen. Watching an employee use their bare hands and mouth on food that was then served to a customer was extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a food safety and hygiene standpoint. It ruined the experience and made us lose confidence in the restaurant's food handling practices. I hope management takes this seriously, retrains their staff on proper food safety procedures, and ensures this doesn't happen to anyone else.

The way it's written implies that you can choose an udon from the udon section, not the case. Minor gripe, but annoying nonetheless. The maki is fine, spicy tuna was bland but decent quality and the shrimp tempura maki was good but also lacking. Personally I prefer a spicy tuna with more tuna texture and this is basically puree, personal preference I guess. The udon is where my meal fell apart. For a lunch menu focusing on udon I expected a more flavorful broth and noodles that weren't overcooked. It's not like the underlying flavor is bad or anything, it's just barely there at all. The dashi is very weak and one dimensional, and the noodles taste like plain flour with a spongy overly soft bite. The toppings are extremely basic, I can't even comment on them because I'm not sure if I hallucinated them having any flavor or not. They might as well not exist. The shredded cabbage side salad is also mediocre. Dressing was weak and the cabbage could've been cut thinner. People I went with told me "maybe you just got the wrong things" but I don't think a chef should have losing items on their menu to begin with. Overall quite disappointed considering the name attached to this place.

The 23-course Omakase ($890 total for two, including two drinks) was culinary perfection, exquisitely crafted, beautifully presented, and fascinating to watch from the bar seating. The restaurant's interior is clean, moody, and Zen-like with dramatic lighting on the prep area. It starts off pin-drop silent, but as the night progresses, the room warms up into a pleasant communal energy. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. The atmosphere among the staff was cold and stiff. Roles were confusing (asking for a oaper napkin resulted in odd glares), and when my guest unrolled their wet towel (oshibori), a staff member scolded them for not "pinching" it correctly. Furthermore, after calling ahead regarding a birthday, I was told they couldn't accommodate a candle or small dessert. Handing out a signed paper menu at the end of the night feels like a cheap substitute for real celebratory effort at a Michelin-level price tag. The chefs are brilliantly trained, but the awkward hospitality and rigid micro-aggressions meant we left without that warm, satisfied feeling you expect from fine dining. Great food, but the overall guest experience needs work.
