Some other AYCE places start to rate limit our group once they catch on that they're probably going to lose money off of us, but they continued to be prompt and quick with successive plates. Three-- cuts are thick here. I almost got full off of the first round because the salmon and tuna nigiri were surprisingly heftier than expected, and at a good fish to rice ratio at that. They have a good selection of nigiri and rolls. Only con is that the only way to get sashimi is via a sashimi salad on their menu, but that's no issue when the service and variety with everything else is fantastic! We did the all you can eat special for $31.99 per person. Great deal! Everything you order you can absolutely share. The appetizers we ordered were the calamari, softshell crab, and Goza. Exceptional! The calamari was my absolute favorite. We then ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls, eel, salmon, scallop, red snapper, and tuna Nigiri. The spicy tuna rolls were my absolute favorite along with the eel! The spicy tuna rolls were very spicy! Proceed with caution. The eel was amazing. The red snapper was light in taste, dipping it in the soy sauce definitely brings it up a notch. The service we received was attentive. Our waitress was very kind & helpful, she explained everything thoroughly. We did order a calamari towards the end of our day and didn't receive it, they were pretty busy but by that point we were pretty full. We concluded our meal with a miso soup and a macaroon. I'm a little torn with this place. I had a wonderful spot snap dab in a busy walk through. Yet I seemed like it wasn't as busy a Saturday night should be. I'm not complaining, we got sat in 30 mins or less. The food looked amazing but there were subtle hints where the par was slightly dropped. We were visiting Chicago and had gotten there around dinner time. We saw this place right down the street from our Airbnb and decided we wanted to go. I noticed it was very very busy and we had to put our name on a little tablet thing that kept track of where we were in line. It took around an hour to get seated but that was partially our fault for not checking if we could sign in beforehand. They have a cute patio area that's pretty big and the restaurant itself had a lot of seating and was gorgeous! It seemed very clean and the staff seemed very focused and nice. We ordered salmon, scallop, some tuna, yellowtail, squid, and a smoked salmon for our mains. We had also ordered their fried oysters, the ika salad, miso soup and their special drink at the time! Everything was beyond good. First off, the price for all you can eat being under $40 per person was crazy to me and I was even more blown away when I tasted how fresh and delicious the fish was. Some of the best tuna and yellow tail I've had! The drinks were yummy and had a nice balance of bitter, sweet, sour, I would definitely order it again. The only thing we didn't love was the oysters... They didn't taste bad but the texture threw us off even though we love oysters. The other thing we didn't love was the smoked salmon nigiri. I remember when it was around $20 per person when they first opened, and even though prices have gone up to around $32 now, the value is still incredible. The quality has remained remarkably consistent, which is something that's hard to find, especially in an AYCE sushi restaurant. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are well made, and the menu hasn't changed which is good because change doesn't always mean good. What really sets them apart is that they don't skimp here. Even after all these years, the food quality, portion sizes, and overall experience have stayed at a level that keeps me coming back. The service is just as impressive. The staff is attentive, efficient, and always friendly, making every visit smooth whether you're dining with a small group or bringing a table full of friends. This place was packed late on a Sunday night! Great AYCE deal on sushi and apps. We waited about 15 minutes to be sat as they add you to a Yelp waitlist upon arrival. Once seated, service was quick! Decent sushi and good apps, which were a great deal for the price. Restaurant was clean and had a nice, modern feel to it. This is the only AYCE sushi place I've ever seen give to go boxes when we still had a good amount of sushi left (without the extra charge), so that's a big plus! read more

That said, it's so worth it! If you order enough sushi rolls at once they'll bring it out on a boat! We were just shy so we got the sleek platter instead -- still looks cool! I love how many appetizers and small plates esque menu items are included in the all-you-can-eat too! Been 7 years since I last dropped a review. Glad to see Sushi Taku is still going strong. I only come for weekday lunch ayce so seating hasn't been an issue and service is fast. Each time they take your ayce order slip, they leave you an empty one. The restaurant is spacious. They even have patio seating for when the weather is nice and the walls open up for fresh air. After a long day of travel, I was craving sushi and decided to finally try out Sushi Taku, which had been on my list for a while. I went with a takeout order and got the Crab Rangoons, Edamame, and the three-roll combo for $23, a pretty solid deal, especially for delivery. For the rolls, I chose the spicy Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Salmon, and Mexican Roll. Out of the three, the Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Salmon were definitely my favorites both had good flavor and texture. The Mexican Roll was just okay, probably wouldn't order that one again. Still, for the price, it was a good amount of food and satisfied the sushi craving. The Crab Rangoons were decent, nothing to write home about, a bit on the smaller side, but still tasty. Edamame was exactly what you'd expect, solid and simple. Overall, I'd say this was a solid 4 out of 5 experience. The food isn't high-end sushi, but it's a great value, especially if you're ordering takeout and want something quick and filling. Was sooo excited to try this place after seeing hamachi kama on the menu for AYCE, I don't see that often. Sushi Taku did not disappoint! We appreciated that all the appetizers came in smaller portions so we could try more. We ordered hamachi kama, soft shell crab, grilled chicken wings, calamari, octopus karaage, seaweed salad, ika salad, takoyaki, lot of nigiri, rolls and handrolls. For the appetizers, we enjoyed all except the wings were okay, would pass on that next time. The fish tasted fresh and there was a great fish to rice ratio, as you know some places can overdo the rice to fill you up but not here. They have hand rolls on the regular menu but aren't listed on the AYCE menu, but the server confirmed we could order them. The spicy salmon handroll was FAT lol so filling but sooo good. stopped in to sushi taku on division last night before heading to the suburbs for a haunted house and it was the perfect pregame for that! i'd only ever been to the logan square location even though i live quite literally down the street from this one. ordered a miso soup with a spicy tuna roll and have zero complaints, good as ever and super quick! also nibbled on some karaage chicken, gyoza, cucumber salad, and sesame balls - all of which were excellent, and fresh!
