My family came here after a long day of walking around the city. They didn't have a full menu due to us getting there after 10pm. I asked if they had any Shepherd's Pie left because it was just after 10 and to surprise they did and it was delicious!! The potato soup had a great flavor as well. My wife had the fish and chips and she said it was very good! My son had the mac and cheese he said it was the best he had ever had. Kitty O'sheas is a life saver after getting in later than expected they were the closet place open late near our hotel. The server was amazing very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was delicious and came out surprisingly fast given it was late and pretty packed after a nearby concert. The restaurant did give Irish pub vibes which I applauded given the fact of it being in a hotel and had the main entrance locked so you had to go through the hotel lobby. The cons were the food delicious but other photos I saw had a different set of fries which looked heartier and thick cut versus these regular fries also the Italian beef was better than the burger. I did have one issue with the server who brought the food out. The ketchup ramekin was in the fries as soon as he set it down and I was going to grab a fry his hand came swooping into the fries to grab the ramekin saying it was bbq sauce not ketchup. I did find that a little rude and by all means slightly disturbing to violate my fries like that instead of just bringing out a ketchup ramekin or asking if it was okay. read more

I'll start off saying it's a nice bar with friendly service, it's huge and a chill atmosphere. But for the price I would expect better drinks. If I'm gonna pay 14 bucks for a drink there should at least be enough alcohol to notice. Might as well have been an expensive glass of soda and ice. Located in the Hilton, the decor is reminiscent of an Irish pub. There was open seating when we stopped in (grab a table) and World Cup soccer on all the TVs. Great spot to watch sports, but it is loud and when the door to the street opens there is quite a rush of air up the middle of the restaurant. We ordered drinks and food and Dana took great care of us. I had a bowl of the potato soup. It was delicious with the bacon chunks and side of Yorkshire pudding (which was meh). Fun spot to celebrate a bears win! We walked in after a cold game and managed to find some standing room and eventually got a seat at the bar. Service was quick even though it was quite packed. My glass of Pinot noir was great, and our food came out pretty quickly too. The wings were tasty and pretty standard for a bar but nothing extra special. The sauce is supposed to be Jameson-infused but just tasted like a standard buffalo sauce. The side salad was a fresh addition to the meal. The fish and chips were the star of the show with real flakey fish that had a nice crispy light batter. The fries with this dish (chips) were tasty too, and even more tasty dipped in the tartar sauce. The Mac and cheese was rich and heavy with delicious bites of short rib, but pretty expensive for being Mac and cheese. Overall, we had a great post game time here and enjoyed the grub! read more

Be prepared, it's crowded and loud. When alcohol is involved, people get loud. I ordered a margarita and chicken pot pie. My margarita was good and strong. The chicken pot pie was good, too. Basically, Kitty O'Sheas is an Irish theme pub. And, it does a very good job of filling this bill. But, it is much more than that. To describe this business, what you will find is a whole lot of people throwing back a whole lot of alcohol. Pretty much all around the place you'll see people coming to talk about sports, coming from their business meetings, coming just to come here, coming to have a drink. Thus, the drinks do flow. But, there is another side of this business. That side is they have a very good menu of Irish influence dishes. Specifically, I think they do a really great job on their shepherds pie. Check it out if you have the chance. In terms of seating, and the generalized atmosphere, what you will find here is a business broken up into various sections. Each of these sections is lined with barstools and there are a few tables. Plus, just a couple of booths. If you're lucky enough to grab one of those booths, like I was at my last visit, feel very blessed, because you can really sit back and enjoy the ambience, the atmosphere, the food, and the drink. In the evening, they have a singer belting out Irish themed tunes. I don't know, that stuff kind of drives me nuts. Maybe you love that. But, for me, it's just one step above karaoke. This is no insult to the singer. As I am sure is a true musical craftsman. But, it's just not my cup of tea. So, I try to come in a bit earlier before the singing begins. Other than that, this place is a must visit along the Chicago/Lake Michigan shoreline. In terms of location, this pub is housed in a corner spot at the Hilton Chicago. So, it's very easy to find. During my second visit to Chicago, I stayed in the hotel in front of Kitty O'Sheas but didn't get a chance to stop by. I promised that when I was back in town, I'd make it a mission to stop by -- and so a few friends and I did. It's self seating, but we were sat for a while before a server came over. We had a cider each and it was a bit of a wait before we received it (despite there not being much foot traffic), so we decided to continue on elsewhere. Excellent food!!!! I was very impressed. I loved the potato leek soup. My farm house salad was delicious too. My salmon on top was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend loved his shepherd's pie, and my mom really enjoyed her fish and chips. My uncle really liked his bangers and mash too. Fabulous desserts! The Jameson blueberry cobbler and Bailey's bread pudding were sooooooo good. Strong drinks! The old fashioned was powerful!!! Fun atmosphere. Kitty O'Sheas was a solid four-star stop for me. It has the feel you want from an Irish pub inside a big Chicago hotel: easygoing, comfortable, and built for a pint and a real meal rather than anything fussy. The fish and chips were the highlight. The fish pieces were cut nice and thick, with enough substance that it felt like a proper plate instead of mostly batter. The roasted lemon was a small touch, but a good one. It made the dish feel a little more intentional and gave the fish a better lift than the usual wedge on the side. I also really enjoyed the bread pudding. It was rich, warm, and delicious, and the ice cream was not just decoration. It was needed to balance the dessert and keep it from getting too heavy. This was the restaurant of my hotel and I stopped in to grab a snack and watch a basketball game! It's a fun vibe with cool seating options for both single diners and big groups. My server was great but slow, I think they forgot to put my pretzel order in but luckily I wasn't in a rush since I was watching the game. Off Michigan Ave, opposite Grant Park, and attached to probably the number one conference-hotel in the city, I'd assume there isn't ever an extended down time here, much less in the evening, much less with sporting events on. So that's exactly when I came. I had just seen a show at The Revival Improv Theatre and walked about a block and a half to get here (mostly because I had already street parked on Wabash - you're not likely to find much closer). I didn't recall that it was a seat-yourself sort of affair, which can lend a certain level of chaos if you're not a frequent bar-goer, are from out of town, or both. Luckily, it was easy enough to find two open seats at the bar, and being at the bar meant attention was given pretty quickly (though that did slow as time went on). Pretty darn decent food. The fries were excellent and the bacon that was added to our burger was the kind that's worth adding. A boozy milkshake felt not too far off from eggnog (but that's just December on the brain). If you're the type to sympathize with the poor folk walking in circles trying to find seating, well- at least there are TVs to distract you! Whatever team is playing (it was Thursday night football when I visited), you can almost guarantee someone will be watching and audibly reacting. And that is really living. read more

This place has a captive audience from the Hilton which owns it. The place was very busy but not for any good reason. Things started disappointingly when I ordered a Smithwick's ale. It was the worst pour of this beer I've ever had. A proper Smithwick's should be on nitro and poured slowly to create a big creamy head. Any proper pub knows this. This is not a proper pub. The beer came with zero head. Pathetic. Other reviews have talked about the bad service. We did not experience that. Our young server was attentive and did everything we asked for. He didn't know a damned thing about beer as my friend asked for a Chicago beer and he told him that Fat Tire was from Chicago. But he's young and he was trying at least. Clearly not trained well. Some of us enjoyed our potato leek soup but my wife found the bread served with it to be too sweet. Was it supposed to be Irish soda bread? I had the bangers and mash. Seemed like a dish that couldn't be screwed up too much. The sausages had that proper blandness and the mash was tasty but the gravy was pure Kitchen Bouquet. Too sweet and one dimensional. It came with carrots and peas, the carrots were fine but the peas were oddly crunchy with blackened bits. Were they reheated in a hot skillet? The real disaster was the wedge of cabbage. It was cold and raw at its center and appears to have been pan served with about 10 per of it cooked. My second beer from Revolution was much better. read more

Visiting Chicago for a conference, I discovered Kitty O'Sheas conveniently located near my Marriott Hotel. The bar was LOUD, and it was Sunday night football. I grabbed a high top in the middle of the crowded bar and was waited on by Sara. The Baked Pretzel with dipping sauces was really good as was the IPA on draft. Conveniently located inside of Hilton Chicago (at least if you're staying there), Kitty O'Sheas is an interesting spot. Propped up by a historic hotel as its setting, one would think it would be something more akin to fine dining but it really does just feel like a typical Irish pub, although the prices are a bit steeper. The inside felt old fashioned but clean, polished even. We arrived at the hotel VERY late into the night so this being an option was very welcome. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed with other parties who were definitely a few drinks in, but we were seated quickly and our orders were taken fast as well. Typically the menu here has a solid amount of typical Irish options, but since we arrived so late we had to order off the late night menu which is a peeled back version of their typical dinner menu. We went with the Chicago style Italian beef sandwich, short rib mac and cheese, and buffalo wings. The food came out relatively fast, considering the time of night and our party size, and it was hot--smelled great too. The Italian beef sandwich was a sloppy, delicious mess that while lacking any structure, tasted fantastic. It came with thick cut fries that were great too, salted just right and had a good texture to them. The buffalo wings were good too, a bit too much on the buffalo side, which may sound weird to say, but it tasted a bit too saucy. Still, the wings had the perfect texture so it was definitely worth the bite. Last, but certainly not least, the short rib mac and cheese was incredible. The mac and cheese was gooey, cheesy, creamy, and all other slightly discomforting words you could use to describe it. The short rib was soft and tender, almost melting in our mouths. Easily the best part of the meal and one of the better mac and cheese dishes we've had in a very long time. Kitty O'Sheas is a great little Irish spot that more than packs a punch from a food perspective, but unfortunately probably isn't the most accessible place to get to considering it's in a hotel lobby. However, we strongly recommend giving this place a shot if you're in the area and doubly so if you're actually staying at the Hilton Chicago. read more

Went here for a simple burger. She asked me how i want it done. I said medium. When it came out the meat was rare. Not medium rare, like really rare. I asked for it to be fixed. I got another burger that was literally not medium but just above rare, slight improvement i guess No cheese on it and no ketchup for my fries. Does medium cook mean something different here than in Texas? I do my steaks medium rare but i don't do burgers raw. And when do you not include all the toppings and condiments that are supposed to come with it when fixing your mistake? read more

The corned beef was served as though it had simply been thrown on the plate without any care or added flavor. The portion of potatoes served comically small next to the pile of beef. The photo shown is before I ate any of them. The carrots were noticeably undercooked, lacked any caramelization despite being worded caramelized carrots. Zero depth of flavor and were barely warm something I noticed other reviewers had mentioned as well. I am writing to share feedback regarding my dining experience at Kitty O'Shea's this past Sunday evening. While we enjoyed the ambiance of the pub, the service and food quality did not meet expectations. I visited at 7:30 PM with my mother, sister, and four-year-old son. Upon arrival, we waited a significant amount of time to be greeted. It appeared the restaurant was understaffed, as our server seemed overwhelmed throughout the evening. Our primary concern was the quality of the food. After waiting nearly an hour, the potato leek soup, corned beef dinner, and chicken pot pie were all served cold. Despite requesting that the items be reheated, they were returned lukewarm or still cold. Given the price of these entrees, we expected a higher standard of quality. Ultimately, we returned the entrees and departed at 9:30 PM without eating our main courses. Furthermore, the complimentary ice cream included with the child's meal was never offered. We paid for the child's meal, the cold half eaten soup, and our beverages before leaving. While our server was nice enough and provided a complimentary Yorkshire pudding for my son because he was so hungry and was getting restless from waiting, the overall experience was disappointing. I am not someone who likes to ever return food even when I am not enjoying it. I find that to be quite frankly embarrassing, but this is not something that I could accept. I work hard for my money and paying $70 for a freezing cold soup and two entrées was not something I was about to do however I did pay for the soup which was so bad. *Drinks and service review only* My husband and I were downtown for our anniversary last week, and on a whim, when I realized we had more time to kill before our dinner reservation, I looked up Irish Pubs, and the first one I saw was Kitty O'Sheas. Now, when we were in Ireland 2 years ago, we went to an incredible restaurant called Kitty O Sé's, so seeing the same name (knowing they weren't the same company or anything, but loving the serendipity of the name), it went on the list! We stopped in about 2pm in the afternoon on a Wednesday, and seated ourselves at the bar. Our bartender was Margaret, who happens to be from Waterford Ireland, and she was absolutely amazing. We had a few drinks over an hour or two, and had the best time chatting with her about our time in Ireland, living in Vegas, and our vacation in Illinois. Margaret also makes an absolutely delightful espresso martini. We really enjoyed our time here. Next time we're in town we will definitely return, and will likely try some food too! read more

I was here with a larger group and surprisingly even with how crowded it was we were able to find a spot for us within a few minutes. Currently staying at the Hilton and with my status they offer a credit to use at the on property restaurant so I decided to try Kitty O'Sheas. After reading the reviews I was a but hesitant but I was hungry and didnt want to leave out. The consensus about the service is accurate. Its a very casual place. No formal host or people to greet you. I looked over the menu for about 20mins and finally just decided to walk around the bar to find someone (because no one greeted me or asked if I wanted anything) I placed an order for fish and chips and about 8mins later it came out. That shouldve alarmed me because it should be made to order but i looked at it and it looked fine. Or so I thought... After trying the fish you can see the batter is not all the way cooked on both pieces. It w gummy and slimy when I pulled the first layer off. Wouldn't recommend this place.
