Declan's surprised me in the best way! There is outdoor dining along the front and side of the pub, which is perfect for summer nights. Our server, Connor (I hope I'm remembering right!) was just the best. Attentive, friendly, and so welcoming. We loved him! What surprised me the most though was the food. It's so good?! Typically pubs like this have pretty mediocre offerings, but Declan's is definitely a step above the rest. Collectively we loved the fried pickles, but my grilled chicken sandwich was also fantastic. Came here to hang out with some friends and watch a few games - there were plenty of screens, so no matter where you sat, you could see the game. It was quite busy on a Saturday. We had a reservation and got a table in the back area. Staff was nice and attentive! This is a great spot for a casual hangout/drink. Used to love this place but yesterday was disgraceful and won't be going back for awhile if ever. Usually its empty and on bigger days they're reasonable about lines but yesterday they held the line for at least an hour not letting anyone in while a lot of people left. It was also bitterly cold. Criminy, how many Irish pubs within a mile? Declan's is yet another one. It has more of a hipster feel than somewhere like D4 and Dublin, with a laidback too cool for you kind of atmosphere that fits in around Old Town. Gets busy at times but it hardly gets rowdy in here. This is more of a place where bartenders discuss their indie playlists rather than belligerently talk about boobs and stuff. Beers of course include Guinness. It also has a fairly good amount of crafts, with many that are local. They also have plenty of liquors but a surprising lack of variety of Irish whiskey. It's $8 for a Jameson. That seems kind of a lot but oh well. It's ice cold. They also have a better than expected food menu. Besides the typical pub grub, vegetarians can have a Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It's $14, which is definitely overpriced. This comes with on a brioche or a pretzel bun with a side. It's the only thing I've eaten here. The rest of the menu is meaty. For another Irish pub it has charm. It also has an upstairs good for private events. This is best for large groups and parties. read more

Grabbed a bite to eat here. Not bad. Decent Guinness. Wings were good in terms of meat, but the buffalo sauce was weird -- I'd suggest they use normal buffalo sauce rather than whatever smoky bbq buffalo was used-- not great. Also, the two spicy sauces that come with the fries (for $1 each which is silly) were bad. Just do one spicy, then one aioli-don't need two spicy dips with fries, nor should you charge for them. Waitress was great, solid spot. Fix the buffalo wings and the fry sauces and you're golden. Appreciate the half off wings too. read more

We tried going to another restaurant not even realizing it was brunch, our original pick was PACKED. We ditched that idea and walked down Wells when we spotted the golden sign in the sunshine. When in doubt, go to the pub. :) It was busy, but nothing crazy. We were able to sit at a table right away and a server took our orders for drinks. Beer menu was good. My Husband enjoyed his selections. Lunch was ordered and scarfed down pretty quickly. lol I had the Grilled Chicken as a wrap. It was loaded with chicken, roasted red peppers, garlic aioli, avocado, and pepper jack cheese! It was wonderful. The fresh cut fries served with it were also tasty! My Husband ordered the Reuben. Made me wish I had ordered that as soon as I saw it. The corned beef on it was tender and very flavorful. The homemade thousand island dressing was a nice touch. This was our go to brunch spot after a WICKED fun wedding the night before. We all strolled in at different times hungover as ever- some not even have slept. I recommend big groups go to the upstairs part of the bar. Our server- forget her name but she has strawberry blond hair- was amazing!!! She did separate bills for a huge group ordering 100+ drinks. She remembered every person's name each time we ordered. There were like 20 of us and we were moving around. Genius! Spent a glorious Saturday on the patio last week! Service was fantastic, drinks were decent (would it kill you to make the mimosas a little bigger ). Food was good and came out very fast. The inside bar was very cute - very Irish bar feeling and there is a lot of space! More than what it looks like from the outside for sure. I'm not sure what the nite life looks like here - but I'm getting too old to drink after 7pm, so I will probably never know. I've been eating here now for a year and a half as it's the sponsor bar for my volleyball league. They have good food and beer with good specials for our volleyball league. However my number one complaint is their slow service. I have been here on multiple evenings and waited 30 minutes for a glass of water and 90 minutes or more for food. Maybe it's the type of fish used and/or the size. Request MALT VINEGAR for a to-go order. Pub FRIES supposed to be limpy? I still like it. Sea salt! Housemade TARTAR SAUCE tastes like mayo, it must be mayo with a green color. Lol. Great for dipping limpy fries. FISH TACO -- the best choice between beef and chicken. TO-GO -- food was ready for pickup in 10 minutes. It was still hot 10 min after in a foil container.
