[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to watch football on a Sunday afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came with a big group and were able to get a table right away. The service was really fast too. They really know how to make ranch.

    Patio was baby approved!

Declan's surprised me in the best way! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is outdoor dining along the front and side of the pub, which is perfect for summer nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server, Connor (I hope I'm remembering right!) was just the best. Attentive, friendly, and so welcoming. We loved him! What surprised me the most though was the food. It's so good?! Typically pubs like this have pretty mediocre offerings, but Declan's is definitely a step above the rest. Collectively we loved the fried pickles, but my grilled chicken sandwich was also fantastic. Great spot all around. Will definitely be back!

Came here to hang out with some friends and watch a few games - [[HIGHLIGHT]]there were plenty of screens, so no matter where you sat, you could see the game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quite busy on a Saturday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation and got a table in the back area. Staff was nice and attentive! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great spot for a casual hangout/drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have half off salads on weekends and $5 bloody mary's!

Awesome spot and highly recommend. Great burgers and sandwiches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very dog friendly patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner volunteers at the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue to help dogs in need. Safe to say mine will be back to have another Guinness.

Hosted an engagement party here in 1/18/24 and it was the right choice ! The service was great and the food was very good. Plum, our bartender, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Declan's has a private space upstairs that feels like you are in a bar in Dublin![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dave, the owner , made sure everything ran smoothly. Make Declan's your next party event!!

Criminy, how many Irish pubs within a mile? Declan's is yet another one. It has more of a hipster feel than somewhere like D4 and Dublin, with a laidback too cool for you kind of atmosphere that fits in around Old Town. Gets busy at times but it hardly gets rowdy in here. This is more of a place where bartenders discuss their indie playlists rather than belligerently talk about boobs and stuff. Beers of course include Guinness. It also has a fairly good amount of crafts, with many that are local. They also have plenty of liquors but a surprising lack of variety of Irish whiskey. It's $8 for a Jameson. That seems kind of a lot but oh well. It's ice cold. They also have a better than expected food menu. Besides the typical pub grub, vegetarians can have a Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It's $14, which is definitely overpriced. This comes with on a brioche or a pretzel bun with a side. It's the only thing I've eaten here. The rest of the menu is meaty. For another Irish pub it has charm. It also has an upstairs good for private events. This is best for large groups and parties.

A fun spot to go to with friends! We always sit outside and enjoy a beer bucket after our intermareal volleyball games and the servers are always able to accommodate our large group. The food is pretty good for bar food; the tater tots are my favorite. Declan's is a nice bar if you're in the Old Town area and want a cold drink and to watch a sports game or hang out with friends!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun place watch college football.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However Guinness is really bad. See side glass does not stick at all. Supposed be Irish bat so was really surprised how bad their Guinness was

Multiple orders were forgotten about, prompting us to remind our waiter 2-3 times. A friend of mine ordered Nachos and was not served for over an hour, prompting us to, again, remind our server who told us there were nachos sitting in the kitchen for hours and nobody knew who they belonged to. We were left waiting most of the night, which made it all the more frustrating when we needed to remind our waiter of a forgotten order. It got to the point where everyone at the table was making jokes about how poor the service was and how we wouldn't see the order we put in for another two hours. Me and my party can handle some poor service and organization skills. It's the beauty of our extreme American tipping service; you just tip lower or not at all. This was unavoidable, however, because when we received our checks, there was an included 20% gratuity. This may be a standard practice of the restaurant for parties our size(9), but I wanted to bring this up for Green Street leadership to see, because I think it is a direct reason why our service was so poor. The gratuity was already included and our server did not need to worry about ensuring we had a good time, for he would be paid the same regardless. The unfortunate part for him is that we probably would have ordered more food and drinks, raising each tip even higher. And that's not to mention the nachos that were picked up by the house after the hour wait. I want to make sure I say that the rest of the tables around us, belonging to other waiters and waitresses, seemed like they were getting wonderful service. It may have just been a bad egg. I really think Green Street Local seems like a wonderful restaurant which I have heard great things about, but my experience was definitely not on par with that. I know some may look at this and say, well there's two sides to every story, but if you had asked our waiter, I think he would have agreed. He essentially said so himself. Everyone has bad days and all is forgiven, but these things don't go unnoticed! I do not want anybody fired or reprimanded or anything like that. I really just wanted to use this place to vent and to, again, bring Green Street leadership to attention on some practices that I noticed needing improvement. Automatic gratuity is a necessary evil as there are certainly patrons who like to skimp out on money that hard-working waiters/waitresses deserve, but if it is going to be enacted, please make sure your employees are not taking advantage of the customers. That is my piece. I hope to be back one day and have a wonderful experience where I can redact this review and leave a good one. Fin

I was surprised by how busy it was for a Monday night at 7pm. Super chill bouncer at the door checking ID. I situated myself at the corner of the bar and was served the cocktail menu right away. I got a Mountain Mama cocktail, which was a citrusy gin cocktail. Fruity, refreshing, and not too sweet thanks to the bitters. The cocktail was so tasty that I came back for a night cap after I had dinner. For my 2nd round I got the Do Not Carrot All. Loved the smokiness of the mezcal and balance of flavors. Toward the end of the night, two of my friends left, and the remaining two of us paid our bill and were finishing our drinks while waiting for our Uber. At that point, the bartender came over and told us she needed our table for a large group. The table wasn't reserved, and we were clearly just finishing up. We told her we were about to leave anyway, but the way it was handled felt really abrupt and rude. What made it worse was that she immediately brought a group over to take our table, and even they were apologizing to us because they seemed uncomfortable with how it was handled. I've worked in bars and restaurants myself, so I completely understand needing to manage space, but there's a way to do it respectfully, and this wasn't it. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and despite having been here multiple times before, I won't be returning.
