    Chicken tenders; fry basket

We stopped in for a night cap and a snack on a Friday evening! We sat at the bar and I liked how big and comfy the chairs are. We also had front row seats to watch March madness, and more importantly the beer filling mechanism that fills glasses from the bottom! Kinda fun to watch. The bar also has purse hooks, which I am always grateful for. The food came out pretty quickly and was super fresh and delicious. The bartender was sooo sweet, very attentive and quick, and made sure my soda was always topped off. I loved the vibe and the moody lighting! The menu is definitely River North prices -- nothing terribly surprising bht on par for the neighborhood. At the time of our visit, cocktails were $15+ and the fry basket was $10. Again, not terrible but definitely paying to be in River North. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely worth it!

Was craving a burger and a drink, and found no vacancy which did have vacancy on a Saturday night. We were greeted and sat at the bar immediately. I ordered the picture me drink, and a burger. The cocktail was sweet and refreshing. Great bartender. The burger came out shortly after and it was huge. It was perfectly cooked and super juicy as well. Fries were hot and crispy too. Overall, pretty good spot for some solid food and drinks. The vibes are dark and quite loud, but to be expected for a dive bar.

The ambience is vibey, everyone was so lovely and the bartender is such a treat. I will be back they have the comfy bar chairs! We stop in for drinks and a snack, I'll be back.

Indoor and outdoor seating, experienced bartenders and servers made watching Crosstown pleasurable. The cocktails are delicious, the beer is cold, bathrooms are impeccable! Definitely a must place to stop in.

Caitlin made this experience for us! She was welcoming, attentive, kind, knowledgeable and efficient! Amazing service! No Vacancy is a neighborhood spot and we were fortunate to be able to be seated immediately. It is clean and comfortable and we experienced top notch service. The food was very good. We got there after six and enjoyed our meal and good conversation. About seven the music was turned up beyond comfortable levels. It was near impossible to hold a conversation - one actually needed to yell. That was unfortunate but otherwise a very good experience.

Ain't too many cities can go toe to toe with the Chi with its amazing food scene and hospitality. After arriving in Chicago with tons of protests and busier than average streets, after checking into my hotel, I needed a quick spot for my mom and I to go in and gain some strength and energy after the tough travel and journey making it to the Chi with just a lot of political noise going on. With that said, we were welcomed at No Vacancy and our server was a sweetheart and did a great job filling up water and being attentive, patient, and provided excellent hospitality with that Midwestern friendliness. She and the kitchen staff were polite and attentive to what we needed. The seared brussels sprouts were so dang on great, we ordered a second round. The server had nice attention to detail and allowed my mom to try both buffalo and BBQ sauces to determine which one my mother preferred to go with her wrap which showed dedication and care which was nice. My grilled chicken power salad with veggies and egg was fabulous and healthy. I washed my food down with a beer and just felt energized not bloated or tired after receiving my protein and nutrients without too many carbs. The food was great, as the Chi never disappoints with its amazing culinary scene, atmosphere, and stellar customer service that is apart of numerous restaurant experiences in Chicago. The food and the service both receive exceed expectations or a grade of "A." If you are from the Chicagoland area or are travelling here, please stop by at No Vacancy!

Pleasantly surprised at how good the burger was as well as the curly fries. Curly fries came w the burger and there weren't much of the fries but they were light and crispy and not salty. I wish they added more fries. If you add it as a side it's $7. I wouldn't pay $7 for a side of a small amount. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The drinks were good but pricey and we loved the drink w the Rosemary. Overall a great place for quality food and drinks! Outdoor seating also.

Stopped in for a pub crawl cocktail. Packin' Heat was a most excellent cocktail. Rye and patron Cafe xo, nice balanced and tasty...food awesome. Bartender was excellent!

My new favorite spot in Chicago! I stopped in here late Sept '24. As I entered I heard some Queen playing followed by multiple musical artists of similar styles. Definitely a bonus for this big music nut! John at the bar was very friendly and advised me on the menu items. I stayed for a little bit and had a friendly chat with other folks at the bar. Food was very good - buff chx wrap grilled for me. I will definitely be back!

Perfect cozy winter bar. Great Birria egg rolls and spicy buffalo cauliflower appetizers. Great happy hour deals. The place is way classy and warm. Bartender was great on service and recommendations.

Love the vibe of this restaurant. If you come for happy hour (half off draft, wine, and appetizers), be prepared for happy people. It gets loud. Our server, Joey, was awesome! He made recommendations and gave us honest feedback. He served so many tables inside and outside the restaurant (patio) -- he was everywhere -- and he managed to pay attention to all our needs...with such a friendly smile. The food is pricey but is very good. The chef, Chris, came out to our table to check how dinner was. He interacted with other guests as well. He explained his goal of elevating the bar food experience. One last thing -- the S'mores Cake is fantastic! Joey was right v

Surprising how much cheese they got in there. The steak tartare was also great. Super flavor, though probably didn't need the sriracha sauce. The wagyu burger was great but not worth the $30 price. That's a lot and not as good as other Chicago great burgers. The skillet cookie was a great way to wrap up the meal. Fantastic flavor from the brown sugar cookie and tons of chocolate. I wanted nothing more than to ring in year 45 with a great glass of natural wine... and I walked out having had a 7-glass flight and one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. The bartenders deserve their own star. They weren't just knowledgeable--they were genuinely fun to talk to, the kind of people who make you feel like you've been coming there for years. We went from discussing funky wine profiles to diving deep into '80s horror films, which is absolutely my idea of a perfect tangent. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the whole experience feel personal and spontaneous. As for the wine: unique, surprising, and delicious, even the pours I didn't expect to enjoy. Good Funk leans into exploration in the best way--nothing feels generic or predictable. Every glass had its own personality, and the flight felt like a curated adventure rather than a lineup. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, stylish without being pretentious, and perfect for either a solo wind-down or a lively night out. It's the kind of place that encourages you to linger, taste one more thing, have one more conversation. Good Funk turned what could've been a quiet, forgettable evening into an unforgettable birthday-eve celebration. If you're in Chicago and love natural wine--or just love a spot with genuine heart--don't miss this place.

We ordered a flight of whiskey sours, which contained whiskeys from Japan, Vietnam, and Wisconsin. I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The bathroom took my a second to find, which should have been intuitive considering it was on the opposite end of where you come in. I blame the lighting as things are already pretty hard to find in the dark, but eventually I made it there-Pat myself on the back.

Taylor for a lower price. Sold! I made a reservation and stopped in that week (if not that very day). The Old Fashioned was fantastic! It had strong whiskey notes without hitting you with a wall of spirit the way a Manhattan, for example, does. The other additions of bitters and syrup did a perfect job rounding the cocktail out, adding sweet and savory notes. As much as I love variety, I loved it so much, I ordered two! I can't lie and say this wasn't at least in part due to the reduced price, that notwithstanding, me ordering two of the same is some of the highest, non-verbal praise one could get from me. For a main, I had the opportunity to try the burger, a special only available 5:00 - 6:30, and mind you I eked in by the skin of my teeth. Before I attempt to break this down, though, I need to take a slight tangent: Do any of you remember the quote from The Menu where Anya Taylor-Joy says: "A real cheeseburger. Not some fancy, deconstructed, affluent b***s***, a *real* cheeseburger."? I am pleased to report the burger here was somewhere between Chef Slowik's "very traditional cheeseburger" and the one Taylor Joy describes! In other words, just fancy enough to feel like I am getting a unique, creative, well thought out dish, but without all the pomp and circumstance! There's just one little problem: as soon as I bit into it, the juices erupting from within soaked the bottom bun, and turned it into a fork and knife affair with an unseen level of precision and speed. Very regrettably, this was the burger's undoing. That first, heavenly bite that had angels singing showed what the burger was really made of (and I mean this figuratively and literally). The beef was of the highest quality, well-seasoned, cooked medium and juicy, with a perfect sear that would have Louis Camille Maillard crying tears of joy. Two types of cheese (one being crisp and airy, the other thoroughly gooey and savory), the perfect amount of bacon, moisture and flavor from a tempura tomato, and divine sauces! One of them was a little sweet, which elevated the flavor like no one's business. Together, all these flavors were a symphony that could give Beethoven a run for his money. However, that unfortunate fact that the thing fell apart so quickly meant that symphony was limited to one bite, the rest being encountered piecemeal. I would rather skip fries than skip dessert (which I did), and ordered the Mango cheesecake. Such velvety perfection! Neither the sweetness nor the mango notes were overpowering, and while it didn't have the crust of a traditional cheesecake, the more gentle variant here absolutely works. I also appreciated the tart sorbet to offer some contrast in flavor, temperature, and texture. Now, let me talk about the service. Given that the restaurant was at capacity, the bar service and speed to get my items was reasonable. Could it hypothetically have been just a touch faster/more attentive? Yes, but in practice, when you have a full house, this is as good as it can get before robots take over. Finally, there is the matter of prices. There is no doubt in my mind that the quality is up there, at the same time, the reason I skipped the side of fries was it would have set me back $11. I suppose the real question is whether or not the quality equals the price, and after some reflection, I think the answer is yes, but one must be prepared for the sticker shock ahead of time. That said, the final verdict: The Franklin Room absolutely delivers on an all-around fantastic meal. I think whatever you order will be in the 90th percentile, at worst! However, this comes at a cost. Therefore, I would love to return to the Franklin Room, but it would likely be more a very occasional treat than a place where I'd be a regular.
