The steak frites was to die for and most definitely we will come back for. The broccoli cheddar soup was very good. Artichoke casserole was definitely not a casserole but very tasty. Mac n cheese was delicious! Chris, our waiter, was super knowledgeable, polite, funny, and personable. It was our anniversary so he brought us out champagne on the house which I did not expect but was super appreciative to receive. It was such a great start to our night. The dessert was also amazing and Chris even brought us out more espresso so I could drenched it just the way I like. What an unassuming spot for a hotel restaurant. It's obviously located on the 21st floor of the LaSalle Hotel, and it felt like a very posh place. It has this elegant old world type of feel to it. I came here for a vendor hosted lunch with my team. I have been meaning to try it out as it was a new restaurant in the area that I hadn't yet tried. I believe our waitress was Olga, and she was a doll. She came back to check that we enjoyed our food and that it was cooked to our liking. I had gotten the clam chowder and the filet mignon and it was delicious and memorable. The red wine reduction sauce was absolutely incredible. It is very reminiscent of the red wine reduction sauce at another restaurant we love. The temperature at medium for the steak was perfect. The asparagus was cooked at the right temperature and the mashed potatoes were on point. I would love to come back here and bring my husband whom I think would really enjoy the food here as well. read more

I found this place on TikTok. It was definitely a hidden steakhouse on the 21st floor of a hotel. It was a nice atmosphere with great live music, but I didn't realize there wouldn't be any windows up there. We had the best waitress I've ever had, she was so attentive, willing to make a specialty cocktail, and was extremely friendly. The wedge salad was very tasty and fresh. The tuna tartare was a 4/5, not the best I've ever had, but definitely tasty (mostly avocado). Wish there were more chips. The wagyu was absolutely incredible, but wish it included sides. The merengue ice cream dessert was good and different, but mainly just ice cream and kind of hard to eat. We made a reservation, but it wasn't that busy. The grill is good. I stayed at the Le Méridien and the restaurant was convenient. Food was good, I had breakfast and dinner here most days. Small menu, but adequate choices. Service was the downside to the restaurant. Slow to come and check in, do refills, ask how food was. On Monday evening 6-24-2024 I asked to be sat at an open booth because I have a back problem and sitting on a barstool is painful. I was told none were available, when clearly I could see several. When questioned, he told me they were "reserved" and after further confusion he finally sat me at the open booth. Interestingly, several more booths opened up and that darn reservation never showed up. The tables remained open as long as I was there. This gentleman was then my waiter. I ordered quickly as I knew what I wanted. He left and never returned to my table. Someone from the kitchen (a food runner?) brought my food. I had to go to the bar for refills on water and Coke, and when I had finished, I had to hunt down the waiter to pay my bill. You've been warned. Great food, horrible service. My BFF and I stopped in twice during our weekend stay at the La Salle. This is saying a lot because we are travelers that don't tend to stay at the hotel bar/restaurant because they're usually nothing to write home about. However our experience at Grill on 21 was different. It totally warranted two visits during our stay. The first time we dined at the restaurant we stopped in for lunch prior to starting our Chicago adventure. The cocktails were delicious. I had the Cranberry Ginger Fizz but added alcohol. The second cocktail I had on the second time we ate at Grill on 21 I had the Timeless Spritz. This drink was no lie one of the most refreshing and enjoyable cocktails I've had in recent memory. As for the food, my friend ordered the G21 Burger and I had the roasted turkey sandwich. It was truly outstanding. The second time we dined we stopped in for dinner before the Beyonce concert and I had the G21 Burger and wasn't disappointed. The ambiance had a modern yet cozy feel. The space is spacious and inviting. For both times we dined, the service was great, our server Brandon M. during the lunch service was outstanding and made our experience even better. Very nice, upscale restaurant at The LaSalle hotel. Take the elevator on the right (can't see the sign from the middle entrance) or ask the helpful lobby guys. The interior is plush, library-esque with booths that give it an open feel to it. The amuse bouche was a shot of vodka with flavorings. 1st time I've had an amuse bouche that was a shot. It was good! I had the lonster bisque which was exactly what I wanted- not overly salted, creamy tomato base with real chunks of lobster. I would get this again and may crave this in the future. I also ordered the Steak Frites and swapped a house salad for the frites. Server was friendly and caring but she didn't ask what dressing I wanted. The steak was cooked perfectly Medium and was tasty and tender. The red sauce was fine. Seemed very bloody red but I think it was the sauce. Didn't notice much flavor other than the yummy char on the steak. The salad was good w hearts of palm which you don't get every day. But when I asked for dressing, the server pushed back saying the dressing was on it. No it was not, that salad was DRY. So I kinda had to challenge that and I was there for work so I didn't make a big issue of it but didn't really like the attitude. She said it comes with a green goddess dressing and I said ok can I get some? That's when she said it was already on it. I said "no it wasn't but could I get some more then?" She brought it out and I added it to my salad and then after a couple bites I realized that I definitively do not like that dressing and I didn't finish it. One star off for the salad issue as I would've enjoyed it if I was able to select my dressing. Will go back if in the area again! read more

My daughter and I had dinner at Grill on 21 on September 8th. We absolutely loved our dining experience. The decor was elegant and in keeping with the original design of the building. There was live music (piano and singing) playing in the background. The wait staff was very attentive and the chef even checked in on us a few times. We enjoyed the Shellfish Cocktail, Burrata, Steak Frites (the park was an truffle fries were delicious) and the Westholme Wagyu Coulotte with mushrooms and micro greens. Everything was perfect. The cocktail menu was very interesting, we tried several and would love to go back and try more. Overall 10/10 for us. read more

Otherwise, the decoration is very upscale and refined, new and reserved, on the darker side. It looks like it could be out of an architectural digest magazine. Really good customer service. Our waitress was truly great, but the salmon entree was super salty-I couldn't even eat it. Gave a little piece to my dog and she threw it up.
