First, the vibe of the place is so cute, has very Italian looking outdoor seating and the inside is dark and vibey. Absolutely loved everything we ordered here. The lobster mac and cheese and crab wontons apps were sooo good. The truffle pasta and vodka rigatoni were amazing, perfectly al dente and the sauce for both was so tasty. The date cake for the dessert was super good as well. Service was also great, replacing plates and silverware constantly between each course. Definitely want to come back next time I'm in chicago!
If you haven't been to Trivoli Tavern, then you are completely missing out on some amazing food and a beautiful restaurant! My recommendations: 1.) Either make a rezzy ahead of time or be willing to wait (I like to put my name down with the intention of walking/shopping West Loop for a while). 2.) The outdoor patio is worth the wait and hassle 3.) Try the Sticky Date Cake and Cornbread... you can thank me later!!!
This is probably my least favorite Hogsalt restaurant so far. I'd only come back for the mushroom casserole. On the bright side, everything came out to about $200, which wasn't bad for everything we ordered. The Warm Parker House Rolls (5/10) reminded me of Hawaiian rolls but with a thicker, slightly rubbery crust. The truffle butter was sweet and delicious, but the rolls themselves were a little salty and not as soft. The Pigs in a Blanket (6/10) were pretty standard. The mustard had a strong kick, and the puff pastry with sausage was tasty without being memorable. The Prime Rib (6/10) was fresh and paired well with the béarnaise sauce, but the meat came out a little cold and I got tired of the flavor after a few bites. The Truffle Mafaldine (6.5/10) had perfectly al dente pasta, but it wasn't creamy at all and arrived almost at room temperature. The truffle flavor was pretty light too. I definitely prefer the creamy version at Ciccio Mio. The Mushroom Casserole (9.5/10) was easily the star of the meal. Super creamy with an addicting garlic flavor and an amazing crunchy topping. For dessert, the Sticky Date Cake (7.5/10) had great textures with warm rum cake, brown butter ice cream, and crunchy date crumbles, but the toffee sauce was way sweeter than I'd like. The Butterfinger Pie (7/10) also leaned too sweet, though I liked the crunchy Butterfinger pieces and perfectly firm crust. Service was good overall. 7.5/10. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, but the food came out pretty slowly. We waited around 20 minutes just for the bread after ordering. The vibes were classic Hogsalt with dim lighting, jazz music, and a cozy speakeasy feel. I especially liked the cobblestone alley outside, though it was pretty loud inside. 8/10.
I came here twice during my trip just for the date cake and let me tell you it is worth the hype!!! We were seated inside for our first reservation and loved sultry vibe. We opted for happy hour the second time so we were seated outside. If you love martinis, you neeeeed to get the gin martini with blue cheese olives For food, we had the spicy orecchiette and crispy fried chicken - both pretty good, but nothing to rave about.
I visited Trivoli during a last minute trip to Chicago, and was lucky to get seating outside with a big group. We ordered the Vodka Rigatoni, Steak Frites, Chicken Pot Pie and Pigs in a Blanket as our main food items. The Rigatoni was cooked to al dente and the steak was a perfect medium rare. The star of the show was the Sticky Date Cake! I was soo impressed by this dessert and can't wait to return to Trivoli next time in Chi!
I had the pleasure of checking out Trivoli for dinner while in town recently and my mind was blown. To start, the interior is gorgeous. It felt like an old school Italian eatery and the dining room just kept going with booths and plenty of other tables. Our server was absolutely incredible (I think her name was Sierra?). She informed me of all the amazing gluten free options I could enjoy including the corn bread, sushi (gluten free soy sauce, yay!), and pasta. This menu is surprisingly vast for my gluten free foodies out there. The corn bread is something I'd add to my last meal on Earth. It was warm, fluffy, with a crispy cheese top and honey butter. I need the recipe ASAP. The caesar salad made with potato chips instead of croutons was f*cking genius. I wish I had thought of it! The steak frites, although small, were expertly seasoned with a herb crust that didn't negatively affect the juicy and tender cook on the steak. So, so, so good. The vodka rigatoni was the best vodka sauce I've ever had. I must crack the code on how they do it -- I've been thinking about this dish ever since. It was smooth, with small chunks of tomato and a nice kick. Although I didn't get to eat the lobster roll in its true form due to the roll, I enjoyed bits of the lobster on the accompanying potato chips and almost lost my mind. So fresh. The sushi roll was maybe my least favorite thing we tried but it was still good so that's saying something about the rest of the food. It just felt like such a novelty to have all the other dishes we did PLUS sushi, so we had to indulge. I mean, what other place is doing that?! We were all totally blown away. I recommend booking in advance for a larger party as reservations fill up weeks in advance and the wait can be long for walk-ins. Thanks for a terrific, gluten-free friendly meal that I'll be thinking about for a LOOOONG time!
Incredible, the vodka pasta was so good. Outstanding service, and overall just the perfect vibe. We sat outside which was so lovely with the string lights!
This place is gorgeous with a lovely atmosphere. We sat at the bar. I got a cosmo which was very solid, nice and refreshing without being too sweet. Truffle mafaldine: 4/5. If you love truffle flavor and always feel like people don't add enough, this is the pasta for you. This packs a HUGE truffle punch, perfect for me. You can add a protein to it and I chose ribeye which was cooked to perfection with a good crust. The pasta sauce was a little over salted and the pasta a bit undercooked but I'm going to put that on them being close to closing when we ordered. I'd come back and try it again for sure. Sticky date cake: 4.5/5. This cake was hot, sweet, moist, soft, and absolutely soaked in syrup. The ice cream is the perfect addition and they have like a salted toffee crumble topping that adds a great balance to the dish. Will absolutely be returning.
I've been wanting to try Trivoli Tavern for a while, but it is notoriously hard to get into. Since they only book 21 days in advance, I actually set an early alarm just to snag a reservation for my birthday dinner, and luckily, I managed to secure a 6:30pm spot on a Tuesday night. Tucked away in an alley with a great outdoor seating area, the place is super cute and has a wonderful, old-school vibe. We were seated inside in a comfortable booth, and from start to finish, the experience was flawless. I started the night with a classic cosmo, and right away, our server was incredibly accommodating. She was very aware of my gluten allergy and proactively asked about my comfort level with cross-contamination. The menu has many items clearly marked gluten-free, which made ordering a breeze. We shared the GF cornbread to start, which was absolutely delicious. For my main, I ordered the GF rigatoni alla vodka--all of their pasta is homemade, and you can truly taste the quality. I also got a side of the au gratin potatoes. To top it off, our server brought me my own separate side of chips and reassured me that they have dedicated fryers for their fries, which is always an amazing bonus when dining out with an allergy. They generously brought out a complimentary sundae to celebrate my birthday, and we also ordered the flourless chocolate lava cake to share. Between the exceptional food and the top-notch service, it was the perfect birthday celebration. Trivoli Tavern is absolutely worth setting an alarm for!

I will say it's a little overpriced for what you're getting so I will deduct one star for that but I love the ambience of the patio area and the staff were nice.
Visiting my son and we came here for lunch. We are a party of 5 and had reservations. We were promptly seated and given menus. Since this was our first time dining here (my son has been here many times), we took a bit of time trying to decide what to order. We decided to try the Smoked Ribs, Pike fish and chips, New England Lobster Roll and the Warm Parker House rolls. Our waitress asked if we wanted the appetizers to come first - since we were sharing we said to bring it out whenever it's ready i.e. no specific order. The ribs and fish and chips entrees were the first to be served. We had also asked for some ice for the table. We waited quite a while before we inquired about the bread and the Lobster roll. Our waitress at this point had not come to check on us - it's about 15-20 minutes since our food arrived. She also forgot about our ice request (We never did get it!). The fish and chips were delicious - crispy on the outside and tender flaky fish on the inside. It was also not greasy and tasted delicious. The chips (fries) were also well done; howeveer, it was a bit on the salty side. None the less it was delicious. Took a while to get some ketchup and "tabasco" (they do not have tabasco but did have crystal hot sauce). The smoked ribs was excellent. Nice smoky flavor and meat was tender. Portions were very generous. As to our missing food order, she was apologetic and informed us that the Lobster roll was made in another kitchen and she had to go and check on it. Not sure what happened there but the rolls turned up really fast. The parkerhouse rolls, on the other hand, did not show up. We inquired again and she was surprised and said "You still want the bread?" and went ahead and placed the order. We surmised that she probably forgot about the order in the first place! The lobster roll was delicious. It came with chips not fries. The chips were also salty. The Parkerhouse rolls finally turned up with the black truffle honey & grass fed butter (5/5). The butter was sooo good - well worth the wait. We were rather stuffed by this time but managed to eat 2 of the 4 rolls! Took the other 2 home. The restaurant manager came over to our table and was very apologetic and informed us that she took care of our table as she felt that the service we received today did not reflect their usual level of service (My son also commented that he's never had poor service here). I appreciated this gesture and feel that restaurants should own up when they fail to provide the service expected at a reputable restaurant. For this reason, I did not ding them any stars. The food was really good and it was unfortunate we had subpar service when we visited. The restaurant was cozy - they have a few outside tables but we sat inside. There are booths as well as tables. The tables are a little closer and the seats are very comfortable. Would definitely come back and try other items on the menu next time we are in Chicago!
Great date night restaurant. Dark lounge-like. Good happy hour options and attentive service. The menu has so many different options! You can order sushi and you can order handmade pasta. Options for everyone. Will be back to try different things. Started off with the Hugo spritz and HH espresso teeny martini. Both were really good and I would order again. From the happy hour menu we got the cheeseburger and hot chicken sliders and Crab Rangoons. The hot chicken was a little dry. The cheeseburger was so good! Should have ordered more. The crab rangoons had a good taste but felt like it was more cheese than crab meat. A little messy as the filling kinda spills out when you cut it, but still would order again. Then we ordered the baked crab cake. This thing is MASSIVE. A lot of crab meat. It was a little chunky so you would get a bite of all crab meat and another of all breading or whatever it is mixed in. Would have preferred for it to be mixed a little more so that you get crab meat in every bite and it is not huge chunks. Also could have used a tad more seasoning. My husband ordered the French onion soup. It was pretty good. A LOT of cheese, which I love. The "crouton" was a pretty thick piece of bread and it soaked up a little too much in my opinion. Still tasted great! Last, we ordered the sticky date cake. I think this dessert is a little overhyped. It was a light cake (not dense) and not rich, nice warm light cake. I wouldn't say it was bursting with flavor. The caramel and crunchy topping definitely elevates it. My husband loved it, but he is not a huge dessert person. I love dessert and although good, I wouldn't say you HAVE TO try it. But if you're there, might as well order it. It was good, not great.
Finally made it Trivoli Tavern to catch up with a friend. Luckily we snagged a reservation for an early Friday dinner because it was fairly packed. Everything we ate was great and would could out with impeccable timing. The butter with the rolls was not as truffle-y than what I read about. The spicy tuna roll was in point and the drinks strong but hitting the spot. We tried the pork chop and while great we would opt for something more savory next time. The vodka rigatoni was great but again I have other items on the menu to try. We closed out with sticky date cake which was a bit sweet. I took a few bites and ended up sharing the rest. The service was amazing and the restaurant itself gave off old school meets modern vibes.
Visited on July 19th with my sister and had a great lunch! Our server, Alex, was extremely hospitable and gave some great recs. Firstly, the ambiance and decor was extremely comfy cozy. We were seated at a table with big arm chairs, which was so relaxing. The lighting is dim, and there's moderate noise. My favorite items were the crab Rangoon (the spicy mustard is the star), frozen cosmo (so strong and yummy), and the branzino (light and flaky). My sister ordered the vodka rigatoni, which was pretty good. As were the rolls! If you do not favor truffle, you can ask for regular butter on the side. Of course the girls love a Caesar! It was made with potato chips instead of the typical croutons, which was cute. I did end up sending back the creamed spinach. It almost tasted as if it were made with blue cheese; there was a really "funky" taste to it I couldn't get past. Overall, we had a fine time. I'd love to come back to try different items. read more
Vibes are immaculate here, makes sense as to why this place is so hard to get a spot in. Friends and I came early and were able to secure a spot at the bar. This place is really busy, so try and get a table if you can for better service. As for the food, it's excellent - the pastas and the Parker house rolls are amazing. The truffle mafaldine pasta was the best dish, I'll definitely be coming back for that one. The date cake was a little too sweet for me but still really moist and the perfect treat. read more

The ambience is beautiful. It was my friend's 21st birthday. I remembered this night very vividly. I am still there. It is so interesting because everyone was so sweet but everyone looks like they are in school uniform uniforms from over the pond. This was a nice place and the ambience and lighting is beautifully dim and my friends look so beautiful and the match their food as well. We have tried vodka pasta from everywhere in Chicago and this one tasted uniquely like Gigi Hadid's pasta from TikTok. They were amazing with food allergies and so attentive and caring. Great staff and great service. The sticky Date cake was just absolutely heaven sent. Epic read more

Had such a great night out with my daughter at Trivoli Tavern. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. We started with the artichoke gratin and the salmon Caesar salad, and both were absolutely unreal. The flavors and quality were next level. Weekday dinner reservation booked via resy 3 weeks ahead. Cook interior vibe and the restaurant was packed. Service was excellent and thorough. Ordered various appetizers, salad,pasta, prime rib and the burger. Burger was probably the best by far, pasta was okay, the rigatoni was maybe a little firm and needed a little more time. Prime rib was probably my least favorite. The smoked salmon Caesar was salty. Date cake was great, very sweet and shareable. Visited Trivoli Tavern with my cousins, and experienced the most wonderful and caring wait staff, with a special shout out to Branden for the phenomenal service! The restaurant was gorgeous, and very accommodating of my party, we had lemon drops, amaretto sours, margaritas, and the food was amazing. Steak frites and Sushi rolls were definitely a hit as well as their pasta dishes (key thing to note is that all their pasta is made in house, and tastes like it!). We finished the night off with the dates cake and strawberries and cream, and honestly it was one of the best nights out I've had in a long time. First off, we came here for my daughter who just recently turned 21 and is looking at law schools in Chicago. She decided that this is where she wanted to go for her special dinner. She didn't disappoint. The food was amazing the hamburger everybody said to have , which she did - she is still talking about two days later! my husband had an amazing steak and mash potatoes , I wasn't as hungry so I went with the French onion soup, which was pretty delicious. Happy hour is on point and the ambience and all the staff were amazing. I would definitely recommend you go here. It is a little on the more expensive side , but all of Chicago is. read more

Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the real star of the show was the sticky date cake dessert. You cannot skip this! We stumbled upon Trivoli Tavern quite by accident. Walking the streets, Thank goodness we made a right when we did. This is a sheer delight! Everything from the music to the leather booth to the chandelier and the wallpaper it's like a gorgeous hunting lodge located in Tuscany somewhere. We loved the meatballs and marinara sauce. Great wine list. And the music... the music is just everything here. It's romantic it's nostalgic, a little dark and sexy. Great for a date night or a family gathering, birthday. I would come back here again and again. It is the perfect spot to be in the midst of a modern city. read more

I've been trying for awhile to get a reservation here and finally snagged one for a Tuesday night - it was definitely bumpin' when we arrived! Note: it's a cute cobblestone alley to walk to the entrance, so maybe skip the heels! There were some tables outside, but we were seated at a 4-top inside so we got to enjoy the cool decor and vibe. I just wished the music was lower - I had to lean across the table to be able to even *just barely* hear my friend. Their menu is an interesting mishmash of options, so there's something for everyone. To start, I got the Bella Punch cocktail, which was nice and refreshing - a good balance of flavors. My friend got the French martini and it was on the sweeter side but she still liked it. For food, we split a bunch of different dishes, starting with the artichoke dip and garlic bread (7/10). The spicy sausage orechiette was the highlight for me (9/10) and the salmon was fine but nothing to write home about. The service was pretty good in terms of keeping our water glasses full, but they comically kept coming to take plates away right before our last few bites. Our waiter was kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert for a milestone and we also got the date cake everyone raves about - this was absolutely phenomenal, the hype is real! Overall, I personally enjoy a restaurant that has more unique twists to the menu but if you want a fun West Loop spot that does some classics well then give Trivoli Tavern a try. read more
I recently treated myself to a downtown staycation and decided to kick off my birthday celebration at Trivoli Tavern. I'd dined here before and had such a great experience that I knew I wanted to come back. When I checked for reservations, there weren't any available, so I decided to take my chances as a walk-in. While waiting, I overheard that the wait was about an hour, especially if you wanted to sit outside. Luckily, there was a single stool open at the Lobster Bar, so I was able to grab a seat almost immediately. Sometimes dining solo has its perks! To start, I ordered the Coconut Shrimp, and they were fantastic. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired beautifully with the orange-chili marmalade, which added just the right balance of sweetness and tang. To drink, I had the Harvard Manhattan. It leaned a little heavy on the booze (), but it was incredibly well made and delicious. For my entrée, I went back to an old favorite, the Truffle Mafaldine. I ordered it during my first visit and honestly hadn't stopped thinking about it since. If you're a truffle lover, this dish is an absolute must. Before you even take your first bite, the aroma of fresh truffle fills your nose. It's rich and packed with flavor. The portion is generous, so I happily took leftovers home. For dessert, I grabbed a slice of the Butterfinger Pie to go. Unfortunately, it was the one miss of the evening. The pie was overwhelmingly meringue, making it difficult to taste much chocolate or Butterfinger. It just didn't deliver the flavor I was expecting. The restaurant was incredibly busy, so the service wasn't the most attentive I've experienced. Sitting at the Lobster Bar ended up being my entertainment during the extended wait times though. Watching the chefs carefully prepare each sushi plate was mesmerizing. Their precision, speed, and technique were truly impressive. Don't let the tough reservations keep you from coming here. Just walk-in and you can probably get a reservation especially in the summer with them having more tables available with their patio. We went on a gorgeous summer day on Saturday at 5:30pm with anticipation of waiting for a reservation. We were willing to wait and just walk around Randolph St but they had a table for us at their Lobster Bar. We didn't care where we were seated as long as we got to order from the full menu. I would say the main dining room and patio is preferred bc there isn't any AC in the room and it's bar like seating with stool seating. We were just happy to have a table and get to eating! Everything we ordered was so good! The lobster sushi took us all by surprised that it was A. Available to order being an Italian restaurant and B. Being one of the best sushi we ever had! Always order the vodka rigatoni and do not share ;) get your own! You will be licking your plate. FANTASTIC. Before I talk about the food, I have to give Trivoli its roses for its service and ambience. The staff was very attentive and made me feel taken care of, and the vibes, WOW. The lowlight and 1920's decor make it feel exactly how you would expect a Chicago restaurant to feel/look like. Food: The wagyu burger OMG. It melts in your mouth and all the flavors truly come in. For dessert, I had the date cake which was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Ironically, the scoop balanced out the sweetness of the cake, making it the perfectly balanced dessert. read more

Atmosphere 100%. Food display 100%. Drinks 100%. Service 100%. BUT food is SO SALTY . We prolly drank more drinks and water than eating the food cuz all we could think of is salty ! The steak was charred on the outside so even the inside was tender the outer shell made it bitter while chewing . Mushrooms and potatoes are the saltiest side dishes. Would want to come back again but PLEASE improve the saltiness. read more

The pigs in a blanket were decent, but I could have gone without it. One downside to this experience was that the steak came out a tad too raw from the request of medium rare. We were visiting family in Chicago for a few days, and Trivoli is their top-recommended dinner spot. I 1000% can see why! We had a 7:30PM reservation - even though we arrived a few minutes late, it seemed that the restaurant was running behind as well, so we headed over to the bar first. As soon as I stepped into the main dining room, I felt transported - completely immersed in the walls of this establishment. From the staff's outfits to the decor on the walls, everything felt perfectly on theme. It was bustling on a Friday night, and there was just such a warm energy emanating from everyone enjoying their meals. Highlights from our meal included the wedge salad, mushroom casserole, and vodka rigatoni. We also got some warm rolls and a dessert on the house - we were properly stuffed by the end of the night. I felt like I stepped into a 1950's movie. The lights are low. The music is on theme. The servers are in sports blazers. Even the cobblestone walkway leading to the entrance is a fun, picturesque moment. The customer service was out of this world - a 10/10. Our server, Brad C, was phenomenal, patient and a complete dream. We were a larger party celebrating Galentine's Day and no ask was too big for him. Now the food was the cherry on top. I loved the Truffle Mafaldine and sauce was delicious. The Vodka Rigatoni was really good as well. The pasta choices were the perfect mix of flavors all complementing each other. I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. It was really that good. My Peach Bellini-Tini was yummy. Not too sweet or too strong. A perfect balance. I enjoyed my visit here so much and highly recommend it for the excellent customer service and the food. read more

That's not be a bad idea. We were asked if we had one. A place can't be busy. You can make one online through Resy.
Anyone know if this where RM Champagne used to be? One address shows as 114 and the other as 116. I'm wondering if it's the same building.
It is not the same location, but it is down the same alley as RM was.
Is it casual dress?
I would say yes, although it looks fancy I was wearing a top and jeans with flats & so were others. I wouldn't however show up in sweat pants :)
Do they offer valet parking?
No. We had to valet at Sienna Tavern and walk over.
Hi, are children allowed?
I can speak for my 7yr old daughter who is accustomed to dining out at several WestLoop restaurants. She's always has a great time there and the staff has actually said they adored her.…
