Fantastic experience. We ordered almost all items on the menu for the table to experience all dishes. Great service and even better food

Visiting my son and we came here for lunch. We are a party of 5 and had reservations. We were promptly seated and given menus. Since this was our first time dining here (my son has been here many times), we took a bit of time trying to decide what to order. We decided to try the Smoked Ribs, Pike fish and chips, New England Lobster Roll and the Warm Parker House rolls. Our waitress asked if we wanted the appetizers to come first - since we were sharing we said to bring it out whenever it's ready i.e. no specific order. The ribs and fish and chips entrees were the first to be served. We had also asked for some ice for the table. We waited quite a while before we inquired about the bread and the Lobster roll. Our waitress at this point had not come to check on us - it's about 15-20 minutes since our food arrived. She also forgot about our ice request (We never did get it!). The fish and chips were delicious - crispy on the outside and tender flaky fish on the inside. It was also not greasy and tasted delicious. The chips (fries) were also well done; howeveer, it was a bit on the salty side. None the less it was delicious. Took a while to get some ketchup and "tabasco" (they do not have tabasco but did have crystal hot sauce). The smoked ribs was excellent. Nice smoky flavor and meat was tender. Portions were very generous. As to our missing food order, she was apologetic and informed us that the Lobster roll was made in another kitchen and she had to go and check on it. Not sure what happened there but the rolls turned up really fast. The parkerhouse rolls, on the other hand, did not show up. We inquired again and she was surprised and said "You still want the bread?" and went ahead and placed the order. We surmised that she probably forgot about the order in the first place! The lobster roll was delicious. It came with chips not fries. The chips were also salty. The Parkerhouse rolls finally turned up with the black truffle honey & grass fed butter (5/5). The butter was sooo good - well worth the wait. We were rather stuffed by this time but managed to eat 2 of the 4 rolls! Took the other 2 home. The restaurant manager came over to our table and was very apologetic and informed us that she took care of our table as she felt that the service we received today did not reflect their usual level of service (My son also commented that he's never had poor service here). I appreciated this gesture and feel that restaurants should own up when they fail to provide the service expected at a reputable restaurant. For this reason, I did not ding them any stars. The food was really good and it was unfortunate we had subpar service when we visited. The restaurant was cozy - they have a few outside tables but we sat inside. There are booths as well as tables. The tables are a little closer and the seats are very comfortable. Would definitely come back and try other items on the menu next time we are in Chicago! read more

Great date night restaurant. Dark lounge-like. Good happy hour options and attentive service. The menu has so many different options! You can order sushi and you can order handmade pasta. Options for everyone. Will be back to try different things. Started off with the Hugo spritz and HH espresso teeny martini. Both were really good and I would order again. From the happy hour menu we got the cheeseburger and hot chicken sliders and Crab Rangoons. The hot chicken was a little dry. The cheeseburger was so good! Should have ordered more. The crab rangoons had a good taste but felt like it was more cheese than crab meat. A little messy as the filling kinda spills out when you cut it, but still would order again. Then we ordered the baked crab cake. This thing is MASSIVE. A lot of crab meat. It was a little chunky so you would get a bite of all crab meat and another of all breading or whatever it is mixed in. Would have preferred for it to be mixed a little more so that you get crab meat in every bite and it is not huge chunks. Also could have used a tad more seasoning. My husband ordered the French onion soup. It was pretty good. A LOT of cheese, which I love. The "crouton" was a pretty thick piece of bread and it soaked up a little too much in my opinion. Still tasted great! Last, we ordered the sticky date cake. I think this dessert is a little overhyped. It was a light cake (not dense) and not rich, nice warm light cake. I wouldn't say it was bursting with flavor. The caramel and crunchy topping definitely elevates it. My husband loved it, but he is not a huge dessert person. I love dessert and although good, I wouldn't say you HAVE TO try it. But if you're there, might as well order it. It was good, not great. read more

Finally made it Trivoli Tavern to catch up with a friend. Luckily we snagged a reservation for an early Friday dinner because it was fairly packed. Everything we ate was great and would could out with impeccable timing. The butter with the rolls was not as truffle-y than what I read about. The spicy tuna roll was in point and the drinks strong but hitting the spot. We tried the pork chop and while great we would opt for something more savory next time. The vodka rigatoni was great but again I have other items on the menu to try. We closed out with sticky date cake which was a bit sweet. I took a few bites and ended up sharing the rest. Had such a great night out with my daughter at Trivoli Tavern. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. We started with the artichoke gratin and the salmon Caesar salad, and both were absolutely unreal. The flavors and quality were next level. My ribeye was cooked perfectly -- an incredible char on the outside, medium rare inside exactly as ordered, and seasoned unbelievably well. The mushroom casserole may have honestly been the best mushrooms I've ever had. My daughter's vodka rigatoni was top notch and packed with flavor. We finished with the sticky cake for dessert, which was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. On top of all that, our server Jenna was a total pro -- attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. One of the best dinners we've had in a long time. So happy I snagged a reservation for this spot -- this was a highly rated restaurant and it definitely lived up to the hype In regards of food: -- Pike Fish & Chips: 10/10 the reason I ordered this is because I read a review from someone who was British who said this was the best fish and chips they've ever had and I have to agree. The fish was so flaky and tender that it was falling apart. The breading was perfect. I also loved the fries it came with because they were crispy on the outside and had a good amount of potato in each bite -- Crispy Fried Chicken: 9/10 the breading was also perfect but I do think it's missing a good sauce. the dish is included with a bottle hot sauce but because I don't do spicy sauces, I did find the fried chicken a little dry on its own. Loved the coleslaw and mashed potatoes that came on the side though -- Lobster Mac and Cheese: 8/10 very creamy and cheesy but not much lobster flavor. wasn't a bad dish at all but I probably would skip this for next time because the other dishes were more of a standout -- Sticky Date Toffee: this is the dessert they're known for and I have to admit I was reluctant to try it at first. I don't really like dates or toffee and I had read a few reviews who mentioned it was a little salty. I'm not sure if they adjusted the saltiness based on feedback but I didn't find the dessert too salty at all. It felt so balanced- the warm sponge cake, the toffee sauce, the cold ice cream and crumbs for a little bit of texture all came together perfectly In the future I hope to try their vodka pasta with spicy sausage, their chicken pot pie, their cornbread, and Bella Punch or Cosmo In terms of service, our waitress was extremely attentive and sweet -- multiple wait staff were keeping our water filled and checking in with us But outside of the food and service, I will say I was a little disappointed they charge for reservations here - it's $2.50 person and even though the cost isn't that high, I think the concept of charging for a reservation versus taking a deposit or charging a no show fee is hard for me to get behind Keep in mind they also have a 3% surcharge included in the bill as well But overall I loved my experience dining here-- I think the have so many amazing dishes to try and it was so hard to choose so I definitely would love to come back to try more read more

Ordered various appetizers, salad,pasta, prime rib and the burger. Burger was probably the best by far, pasta was okay, the rigatoni was maybe a little firm and needed a little more time. We stumbled upon Trivoli Tavern quite by accident. Walking the streets, Thank goodness we made a right when we did. This is a sheer delight! Everything from the music to the leather booth to the chandelier and the wallpaper it's like a gorgeous hunting lodge located in Tuscany somewhere. We loved the meatballs and marinara sauce. I've been trying for awhile to get a reservation here and finally snagged one for a Tuesday night - it was definitely bumpin' when we arrived! Note: it's a cute cobblestone alley to walk to the entrance, so maybe skip the heels! There were some tables outside, but we were seated at a 4-top inside so we got to enjoy the cool decor and vibe. I just wished the music was lower - I had to lean across the table to be able to even *just barely* hear my friend. Their menu is an interesting mishmash of options, so there's something for everyone. To start, I got the Bella Punch cocktail, which was nice and refreshing - a good balance of flavors. My friend got the French martini and it was on the sweeter side but she still liked it. For food, we split a bunch of different dishes, starting with the artichoke dip and garlic bread (7/10). The spicy sausage orechiette was the highlight for me (9/10) and the salmon was fine but nothing to write home about. The service was pretty good in terms of keeping our water glasses full, but they comically kept coming to take plates away right before our last few bites. Our waiter was kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert for a milestone and we also got the date cake everyone raves about - this was absolutely phenomenal, the hype is real! Love the atmosphere I was just in London and you felt like you were there and not in Chicago got there early and they were able to seat us it was still happy hour and nice they offered it at the tables too and not just the bar. After years of hearing the hype, my family and I finally planned far enough ahead to get a reservation at Trivoli. We sat inside and the ambience was great - dark lighting and intimate seating in booths or small tables, pretty lamps and fun lighting fixtures throughout the space. Our waitress Ruby was attentive and so kind - she gave great recommendations and explained the philosophy of the restaurant's focus on simple ingredients and high quality flavors very well!! We had crab rangoon and the pigs in a blanket for starters - both super tasty and a good portion to split amongst multiple people. I got the streak frites and a limoncello spritz - the steak was a perfect medium and large portion with the frites and the limoncello was the best mix of sweet and tart! Others got the branzino, shrimp scampi, prime rib sandwich and the vodka rigatoni; all loved their meals and found them super flavorful! We were visiting family in Chicago for a few days, and Trivoli is their top-recommended dinner spot. I 1000% can see why! We had a 7:30PM reservation - even though we arrived a few minutes late, it seemed that the restaurant was running behind as well, so we headed over to the bar first. As soon as I stepped into the main dining room, I felt transported - completely immersed in the walls of this establishment. From the staff's outfits to the decor on the walls, everything felt perfectly on theme. It was bustling on a Friday night, and there was just such a warm energy emanating from everyone enjoying their meals. Even the cobblestone walkway leading to the entrance is a fun, picturesque moment. The customer service was out of this world - a 10/10. Idk what I was expecting but it wasn't a full sushi roll! But I guess the chop sticks they dropped off should have been a give away. For our mains we selected the fried chicken and the rib eye. Again, both great. I'm a steak girly but surprisingly the fried chicken was my favorite!! It was extremely crispy and crunchy but not hard or stale. The flavor was full and meat extremely tender. Normally I don't like NON bone in fried chicken. But this was really good! My rib eye was good too. It was more peppery than charred but had a solid flavor overall. For sides we selected the steamed broccoli and the mashed potatoes. The steamed broccoli was steamed broccoli. Nothing special. I wasn't a fan of the butter sauce but the lemon really did wake it up. Even though it wasn't my fav...fiber is a must. lol The mashed potatoes were delicious. We also selected the vodka rigatoni to share. Ya know. It came so well recommended and hyped up but I wasn't really a fan. The noodle was TOO al-dente and the sauce was flavorful but something about it didn't really hit home for me. It was nice to have but definitely not a must have for me. We ended the night with a generous scoop of brown butter ice cream and a slice of key lime pie. The pie reminded me of my grandma's and I felt like a child again... wanted to wiggle my toes with joy. The ice cream was rich! Def tasted like it's made fresh back of house. Dare I say the best restaurant in Chicago. If you are visiting this is a MUST. To start, the French onion soup was no notes amazing. The wedge salad was also 10/10 incredible. Obviously I got the vodka rigatoni and my mom got the steak frites but subbed the French fries for the other potatoes. All which were 10/10. To end the night we got the sticky date cake which is probably the best dessert I've had ever in my entire life. If you don't order this honestly don't even come here. That's how much I recommend it. Yum! I've always heard good things about this place but also the long wait times with impossible reservations, but somehow we were able to snag a spot and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chicken pot pie and at first I was skeptical, but it was a burst of flavor and was quite large with a great presentation. I received some Hogsalt gift cards from my colleagues during the holidays. We decided to play hooky and take advantage of Trivoli's lunch reservations. I feel like if you've been to one Hogsalt restaurant you've been to them all. You're going to get great service, in a dimly lit environment. This place had elevated saloon vibes. We came mainly for the sticky date cake which is a must order every time. The balance of this dessert with the mix of textures is just perfection. I ordered the steak frites which was really good. I appreciate the consistent sear they get on their steaks. My wife ordered the prime rib sandwich. It was good but lacked a little flavor without the Au jus and horseradish sauce. Ok. We had an outstanding experience at Tripoli Tavern. It was a little tricky to find the entrance. It's in a little brick alley way and courtyard. Once you walk in you check-in with the hostess and you can check your coats. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us right away. From reading other reviews, we got lucky. You don't see the seating when you walk in and it seems really quiet. When the hostess took us to our table, we walked into another room which was very lively with an amazing speakeasy vibe. It was a fairly large open space with a fun bar. Everything was in rich colors and dark wood. The food was amazing. I ordered the Truffle Mafaldine. If you like truffle, this was superb! A must try! Others at the table ordered the Vodka Rigatoni. They loved it and wished they had more. Someone else in our party ordered the Chicken Pot Pie which looked amazing and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We're visiting Chicago and we were excited to check this place out. The ambiance is a 10/10. Such a beautiful spot. The hostess with the black glasses was ehhh. Didn't feel genuine. We thought the girl with the red hair/pigtails was really nice! The food is subpar. Especially the ribeye steak (dry eyed). It was $80 dollar and it tasted like a steak from BJ's restaurants definitely not worth it. We also ordered the spicy shrimp pasta. It was good. We give it a 8/10. Memorable highlights are the house salad, corn bread, crab Rangoon, fries, truffle pasta, sticky date cake. Steak and salmon were great too but I was too full to enjoy those after eating the starters and sides. Our server, I think his name is Ryan, was great and was appropriately attentive and helpful! Trivoli Tavern has the most beautiful outdoor seating I have ever seen. It transported me back to Europe. Definitely visit during the summer! Between 6 people we ordered their Vodka Rigatoni, Spicy Orecchiette, Crispy Fried Chicken, Double Cheese Burger, and Crispy Shrimp Roll. It was the perfect amount for everyone to get a full plate and be satisfied! Their pastas were creamy and the burger was juicy. I'm not a fan of fried chicken or sushi so I didn't try it but everyone else raved about the chicken being very crispy. Clam chowder and Caesar salad. Rolls. Steak frites and the vodka pasta. Date cake for dessert. Everything was 10/10 except for the Caesar and the clam chowder. Those two left a lot to be desired. However it allowed us to keep extra room for all of the food. Our server Maggie was on top of things and made us feel like the only table she had, yet the place was packed. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Hands-down, one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. The waiter gave us several recommendations off of the menu and we decided to get all of them and every single dish was out of this world. There wasn't a single thing that was even mediocre, Everything was incredible. The salmon crudite appetizer was so fresh and amazing. The iceberg salad was awesome with the pork belly in it. Crab Rangoon's were 10 out of 10. The pot pie with the bone marrow in it was absolutely insane. One of the main highlights of the meal for me was the mushroom Casserole and I don't even like mushrooms and I was obsessed with it. The waiter was excellent, very funny and engaging. Pretty difficult place to get a reservation and walk in waits are long. We were very lucky to come on a nice day and be able to sit outside. I had the French onion soup and potpie. Pretty good and filling although I prefer a potpie that's more moist. I would have skipped the mushroom side my husband and I got. It was too salty and rich. read more

Tucked away down an alley, Trivoli Tavern feels like an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Reservations are somewhat hard to come by so we were only able to secure ours on the outdoor patio which gave me European vibes with the cobblestones, exposed brick and string lights. The indoor has a dark and rich tavern feel. The menu gives steakhouse vibes, with plenty of proteins and seafood options alongside some handmade pastas. They even have a lobster bar and sushi rolls section of the menu. I appreciated that you could order a carafe of table wine for $19. That was perfect for us but more elevated wines can be had starting around that price for the glass. Between the 2 of us we ordered 3 items and split everything. The half house salad exceeded expectations as far as salads go. The vinaigrette was really tasty and the ingredients were nice and crisp. The Spicy Shrimp Pasta and the Famous Prime Rib completed our order. The crust on the prime rib was really tough and basically inedible but the cook on it was done well and we enjoyed the pasta.
