Caesar* and we paid for added on chicken and it was so small for $30!!
    Marissa M.

Was so excited to try this restaurant as it seemed popular and was recommend by some locals, but can honestly say for the price point and the amount of food we got, I was really underwhelmed. We shared the truffle focaccia which was great, but for over $20 and only a few pieces I can't say it was entirely worth it. My friend and I shared the caesar salad and added on chicken and were shocked at how small it was for a nearly $30 salad....not something I'd order again as it also wasn't cut or tossed and was not sizable enough for even one person really. The calamari was good and the drinks were fine. Overall I wouldn't say the price point matches the quality or amount of food.

Came for dinner tonight and we came before the after work rush. We were seated upstairs with the very gorgeous tree as the centerpiece of the room. We were brought water and we ordered our dinner. We ordered the bar Siena chop salad, salmon and the gnocchi. And of course, still had room for dessert / tiramisu and the bombini doughnuts. When we left, the hostess area was crowded. Good place to come for after work or to celebrate.

We went on a busy Friday Lunch. service was great. She was busy and fed multi tasking but took care to be sure we were good. We had the burrata, the focaccia with prosciutto and I had the soup and he had a burger. The burrata was tasty and the jam with it good. The focaccia was different filled with cheese and not as fluffy but very tasty and the prosciutto was as delish. When my soup came out it was cold. They took it back and brought a new one out and comped it no questions asked. Super nice of. mgt. Bf burger was ok. Seemed to be a frozen product and not super smash burgery but wasn't terrible. The spritz I had was good. I would go back and do a pizza next time.

Came here in a Friday evening with reservations and was seated in time. The place was fully packed but the service was great and everything was delicious. Tried their burrata, bufala margharita, truffle mushroom, Parmesan fries, crispy garlic potatoes. And some of their mocktails as well. Will definitely be coming back.

We came here for an early Saturday lunch. The place was empty when we arrived, and pretty much stayed that way throughout our meal. The service was great but disappointed to find out that they closed Bombobar. We ordered their Bufala Margherita pizza and their Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Both dishes were really tasty. My daughter really enjoyed the pasta. We still wanted to finish off our meal with something sweet so we ordered their Mini Bombolini. I've had these before at their other restaurant and loved them. Glad they still have these. I can definitely see myself returning.

Stopped in for a bite on a Saturday afternoon. There wasn't a lot of booth seating but there were a lot of high tops open, plus they let us bring our stroller to the table! We got the hot chicken sandwich and the gnocchi sausage pasta. Both were good dishes but didn't amaze us, plus our sandwich was a bit cold. The spot has killer reviews, and a cute ambiance so I will give it another try at some point!

The perfect nightcap after an evening in West Loop! We stopped in and grabbed seats at the bar, an old fashioned, and espresso martini. I would order either hand crafted drink again, and like the dim, but strong light lit ambiance. Great place to grab happy hour, dinner, or even watch a game with a more upscale vibe.

I love pasta. And I've eaten a lot of pasta. And the crab spaghetti I had here is easily top 2 best pasta dishes I've had in my life. So this rating is purely based on that dish and the vibes. The restaurant itself was dark, a little loud, but good bar vibes. Service was super nice and attentive. Back to the star though. The spaghetti! It was a lemon cream sauce and it was so delicious I was so sad when I finished. They better still have it when I go back. 10/10 will 10000% be back just for that pasta dish.

Food - Espresso Martini (vodka) was pretty good. Our server said it can be served with either vodka or tequila and told us a lot of people prefer the tequila (I didn't really care about the $2 upcharge but it was not mentioned to us when ordering). We ordered both and liked the vodka one better as the tequila comes through pretty distinctly that I didn't find very pleasant. The Bar Siena Chop salad was not bad, but it was a little salty for my palate. Not sure if they crack more salt on the salad after making it, but adding more lettuce in general would probably make the dish overall better. Considering some people might go in to just eat a salad for dinner, the portion itself is quite small for a $17.99 price point. The 16oz Delmonico ribeye was disappointing. We ordered it medium rare and it just didn't feel like it was cooked right. The end pieces possibly were but felt fatty/grisly not in a good way. And the other pieces closer to the center felt a bit more raw to us than rare. Whatever the reason was, for $69.99 I kind of expect every bite to be at least good but this fell well short of that expectation. Looking around, it seemed like most tables were going with safer options like pizzas, pastas, and burratas. Service - It started off really well. Being our first time here our server did a great job giving us recommendations on what the most popular items were (the ribeye included in that list). But then, he kind of disappeared and rarely checked in on us. We found ourselves waiting to get the bill, to get to-go boxes, and just some other confusing things (e.g. declining dessert and having to ask later for the check, asking if we could get our food boxed up to go and then him only taking one of our dishes where we had to ask a busser to bring us another box). He didn't seem weeded and he didn't seem like he was new the way he was explaining the menu to us. I will say he himself was friendly, but with a full staff of food runners and bussers, I felt over the course of the meal it was difficult to be understanding towards the worsening service we were experiencing. Ambiance is great. Typical of what you'd expect at a little bit of a nicer restaurant in Chicago.

Went to Bar Siena for the first time recently on a Friday night. The general location was busy and it was the first 60 degree weather in a while and was worried that we would have a long wait time, even with reservations. We got seated immediately and our server was very attentive and making sure we were taken care of. We had someone in our party with Celiac and our server was knowledgeable about accommodating their dishes. I got to try lots of bites and drinks this visit. Their espresso martini was okay, not bad, but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend ordered their No. 5 cocktail and raved about it the whole night. I had their Siena sangria after my martini and it was definitely a lot better and more refreshing. We had their burrata with gluten-free bread and they also gave us regular bread for everyone else in the party. I loved their burrata, which came with an apricot jam that went excellent together. I ordered their baked lasagna, I wasn't sure if there was already protein in it so I added chicken and I was stuffed. Their lasagna was perfectly baked and wasn't too overbearing or heavy. Someone in our party ordered their Flat Iron steak medium, but it was definitely on the more on the rare side. I enjoyed my time here and wouldn't mind coming back. Service was great and this spot is in a great location near other bars.

I love bar Siena , the service was so good. We did restaurant week menu and it's the perfect way to get a full experience of the menu. I wasn't a big fan of the gnocchi but the meatballs were great. I always love the music and vibe. Def recommend.

Came here for dinner recently and had an amazing experience. I sat outside and the people watching in West Loop and decorated street is amazing. Service was extremely nice and food and drinks came at the right time. We had the baby kale salad to start which was great and refreshing. The gnocchi was delicious and I couldn't get enough of the sauce. But the half chicken dish was the star of the showwww! The chicken was juicy, perfectly seasoned. The sauce was sooooo tasty to dip the perfectly crisp potatoes in. I would recommend that dish to anyone. My friend also got a frozen aperol spritz and it was very yummy and refreshing for a hot, humid day. Overall: my favorite restaurant in the West loop area thus far, great vibes, amazing food and service.

During my visit, I decided to try this place out for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Since it was close by to where I was staying it was convenient. For lunch I had their lunch special. For the app, I ordered the meatballs, rigatoni, and an espresso martini. The martini and rigatoni were pretty good but the meatballs were a let down. They came out not even room temperature. It was border line cold. I'm not sure if I would go back? Maybe to try the pizza and I would say skip the meatballs.

Ask the Community - Bar Siena

Is this restaurant kid friendly for brunch? Celebrating a family member and wondering if I can bring my 9 month old.

Brunch should be fine with a kid, they have a patio so if the weather is nice I'd suggest doing that

Do they allow bottles of wine to be brought in?

No, however they have a wine list.

Is it 21 and over ? I'm turning 20 and want to celebrate there it's looks so nice

No it's open! Not an actual "bar."

Hello! Does this spot serve tea as a drink option?

Yes. Such good choices. Love their tea service! Honey, Lemons, Milk, Sweetener Caddy, Extra Hot Water Pot. Love love love!

Is this restaurant pet friendly ( not service dog) and if it is, is the patio open now in winter?

They even have a puppy menu!!!! It's great! A menu just for my fur baby!

Any tips on parking? We're headed there for dinner tonight.

Your best bet is just to valet it, especially in this weather. It's notoriously difficult to find parking on or near Randolph street. There's a valet stand right across the street in front of the little goat diner.

BomboBar - I know we can get it from the outside window but on cold days I know you can order from inside Bar Siena too. I was just wondering if it's okay to sit inside Bar Siena but only order BomboBar?

Yes, you can sit in Bar Siena and only order from BomboBar. I've done this before and the waiters were totally fine with it.

Is this a lettuce entertain you restaurant?

Hi Mandy. It is not. We are a DineAmic Group Restaurant!

Are you allowed to order from Bombobar if you're dining there? Maybe we can save time and not have to get in line if we're going afterwards to Bombobar, anyways.

    Yes.

This is not the place for a quiet conversation. It may be one of the loudest restaurants I've visited in quite some time, and a nearby birthday celebration only added to the energy. That said, the atmosphere is part of the appeal. If you're looking for a fun, celebratory evening with friends or family, Gilt Bar delivers. I can't imagine choosing it for a business dinner. We started with the Tenderloin Steak Tartare and onion rings. Both were excellent. My daughter was craving the Bolognese, while I ordered the vodka rigatoni. The portions were generous, and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The truffle mafaldine appears to be the menu's most celebrated pasta and receives plenty of attention on Yelp, but we were very happy with our selections. Service was spot on throughout the evening. Food arrived with good pacing, drinks were refreshed promptly, and our server struck the right balance between attentive and intrusive. For dessert, we shared the gooey skillet cookie. Be warned: this thing arrives at the table with nuclear-level heat. The vanilla ice cream isn't just there for flavor, it's there for protection. One unusual observation: the floors seemed surprisingly slippery throughout the restaurant, something we noticed more than once. Our bill came to $159 before tip, which felt reasonable given the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. Between the lively atmosphere, strong food, excellent service, and vibrant bar scene, it's easy to understand why Gilt Bar has remained popular for more than 15 years

As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, which creates a cozy atmosphere but also presents a few challenges. We arrived a little early for our reservation and quickly realized there was really nowhere to wait inside. That wouldn't have been a big deal except our table wasn't ready at our reservation time because the previous diners were lingering. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes outside. I understand that reservation timing is more art than science, but it would have been nice if someone had at least acknowledged the delay or offered some small gesture while we waited. Once seated, service was mostly quite good. Our server's start was a little uneven--he stopped by but didn't initially take our drink order--but after that both he and the rest of the staff were attentive throughout the meal. The space itself is interesting. The open kitchen is enormous relative to the dining room. I found myself wondering whether they could have squeezed in a few more tables, though obviously the food coming out of that kitchen is the reason people are here. And the food was a mix of hits, misses and one absolute knockout. We started with the pâté en croûte, which had a bánh mì-inspired preparation. And just so you don't end up disappointed like Nigel: Don't expect a smooth, spreadable pâté. Instead, you'll got a chunkier, terrine-style version. I thought it was an interesting take. The escargot didn't do much for me. It arrived swimming in herb oil and I found it lacked flavor, though others at the table enjoyed it more than I did. We also tried the corn dog, a very fancy and elevated version of the summer fair staple. It was tasty, but surprisingly small. The standout dish of the night was the 10-day duck breast. Absolutely delicious and easily the best savory item we ordered. The calamari was less successful. There simply wasn't much calamari in the dish, making it difficult to share among the table. It felt like there were nearly as many potatoes as pieces of squid. The halibut, on the other hand, was quite good. The fries were fine--nothing special--but aggressively salty. Then dessert arrived: a raspberry-coated chocolate mousse that was one of the best desserts I've had in a very long time, possibly ever. It was the perfect ending. Pricing was another pleasant surprise. We landed at about $100 per person, which was actually a little less than expected. Overall, Obélix delivered some memorable dishes, especially the duck and that phenomenal dessert, along with a few frustrations around timing and pacing.

It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. Great food, amazing drinks, beautiful ambiance, and a meal you'll be thinking about long after you've left. We make a point to visit every time we're in town, and it never disappoints.

First time visiting the Windy City, we came to the city for the great eats! I'll Porcellino…read morecertainly did not disappoint! For appetizers, we ordered the While Garlic Loaf Focaccia and the Stuffed mushrooms. I wished I took a video when the focaccia arrived. The waiter, holding a plate with a round and fluffy focaccia and proceeded to pour the garlic et al on top of the bread! Very freshly-made and fabulous! The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!
