I've tried many things on this menu and they have a pretty tasty pizza selection. If you like a thin crust and brick oven style pizza these are really delicious. They charge a "cost of doing business" fee of 3.9%. I'm sick of restaurants owned by groups of rich investors that feel the need to charge for "owning" a business. If you can't do business without charging people this fee, then maybe you shouldn't have a restaurant. Figure it out people. I always ask if the fee goes to the staff, and if it doesn't then I ask them to remove it and tack it back on as additional tip for the staff. This restaurant also uses an app called Sunday App that the server suggested for convenience, but when you go to pay, guess what? Yep, there's a charge of almost 5% to just use the app to pay with your credit card. Sure, you can just pay through your server and avoid the fee, but WTF? So if you don't pay attention, which I think is most people, you're paying almost 10% just for shits and giggles. And yes, I understand that just eating at this restaurant is an expression of privilege, but at what point do we just call bullshit on the owners. It's like going to Target and paying an additional fee just to shop there and then getting charged another fee when you choose to use the self-checkout lanes. Food was good. Crab Spaghetti with additional shrimp was very rich and tasty- not sure how much crab there was though. Ahi Tuna Crudo was ok, definitely crazy expensive for three small to medium slices of fish. I have been to bar Siena many times. I always have fun here. The place is huge with tons of seating on two levels. The bar on the first floor is so cute with a big tree with lots of lighting in the middle. I have tried various cocktails here and the espresso martini has been my favorite so far. The food is good too. They have great pizza and fries. Getting a reservation is almost impossible on the weekend but you can easily walk in on weekdays. The Queen and I met a good friend here for a girls night out. This was kismet as I had earlier attended the Yelp Event for the opening of Chef Fabio Viviani's dessert place Jars, so I was curious about what he had to offer here. The Queen and I got down there around 6 pm and there was plenty of street parking in walking distance, but we did a Spot Hero because it was cheaper than feeding the meters. Let's start off with the prices and get that out of the way. Some of the prices for the portions seem a little on the high side, but it is downtown. Normally this is not an issue for me, but some items will stand out for me, like the grilled octopus. This was a $21 dish with heirloom potatoes, red fingerling chiles, celery, white wine, aged balsamic and a large tentacle of perfectly grilled octopus. I just would have like more of the pus and less of the potatoes. We also had the Focaccia (stracchino, arugula, truffle honey, sea salt with prosciutto. Although this is presented as an appetizer, it is big enough to serve as an entrée. Adding the prosciutto was $5 extra, but I would so do this again as it was a perfect complement to the Focaccia. Another appetizer that was very good were the roasted meatballs with the polenta bread. I am a big fan of polenta and the idea of having it as a bread with meatballs was wonderful. For her main course, The Queen got the Lobster Linguine with a spicy lobster cream. She loved this dish, saying that while the sauce had a kick to it, it wasn't overpowering. But honestly I can't trust her on levels of hot because she is a level 3 for ramen at Hell Raman...HAHAHAHA! The presentation of the dish was nice, but The Queen said she would have preferred a little more pasta. Now if you want pasta, definitely order the baked lasagna. This was a heavy, but tasty dish and I ended up taking it and a meatball home to have for breakfast the next day. Both heated up nicely. My GF got the Bucatini "Cacio E Pepe" (pecorino, black pepper, belper knolle cheese). I had a little taste of it and it was very good. I am glad I got the lasagna, but would definitely go back to try this dish. This is a deceivingly simple looking dish to make, but there is an art to it and Bar Siena hit the nail on the head. I had had this dish with other pastas but prefer Bucatini because of the way it interacts with the sauce, if done right. This is actually a dish I would get to go because I would love to add some pancetta to it....Chef don't shoot me! Atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with good solid service. The décor is lovely and I loved having the tree made of lights as decoration. If there was a sticking point for me it was the ladies room. There is a single occupancy one on the second floor and there was a line to get in. Fortunately we were seated nearby and could gage the crowd so we didn't have to wait too long to get in there. Because I consider brunch to be one of my food groups, I would love to come here and check it out with The Doctor. But not going to lie, I would come here just for drinks and those yummy appetizers. I haven't been back to Bar Sienna since I lived in West Loop a few years ago. It was great, just as I remembered it. We went on a Sunday evening so it wasn't crowded at all. They initially tried to seat us at a high top but were able to accommodate our request for a booth. It's a cozy setup and they are known for their big tree decor right in the middle of the restaurant. We shared the focaccia, which was incredibly fresh. It was topped with arugula and truffle honey oil. I also had the rigatoni alla vodka which never disappoints. We ordered the truffle mushroom pizza, pepperoni pizza, vodka pasta, and a round of cocktails. The pizzas were amazing! Super thin and wood-fired, I believe. The pepperoni was crispy and flavorful on the pepperoni pizza. The mushroom truffle pizza was delicious with a garlic cream base. The vodka pasta was also a fan favorite. The frozen aperol spritz was sweet and refreshing, and the espresso martinis were strong and classic. The menu isn't huge but it has just the right amount of options with most of them being Italian and American food options. The service was also great. Our server was super sweet and helpful. Ordered, two drinks, Margherita pizza, and the bomboburger (delicious!!) and all the food was high quality but not high enough for what we paid for. On top of this, the service was good too. I love the low lighting and busy yet intimate feel of the restaurant. Our table overlooked Randolph street which was great for people watching. Our sever was so knowledgeable with the menu and helped guide us through a delicious meal. To drink we had a pitcher of sangria. It was sweet but not too sweet and we easily finished it off.
