The service, food and ambience were very good. Definitely will go back there again next time I visit Chicago.

(Kari's Rating 8/10) TLDR: -Attentive Staff -Smaller portion sizes -Dark atmosphere Came here on a weekday with a friend and had a reservation for Monday at 7:30pm. We had to wait a little bit for a table so we sat at the bar because my friend and I aren't drinkers. We just had glasses of water while we waited for our table. Once we got seated, our server took our order relatively quickly and we ordered the House made for Kasha with a goat cheese and honey topping, the grilled octopus appetizer, and because we were enjoying our conversation so much we ended up just skipping Wright to dessert and ordering the gooey butter cake. For a light meal, this was relatively satisfactory. Our server said they come to the octopus because we waited so long, so it was nice that the staff was acknowledging that we waited a little bit for our table and we're willing to compensate us. As someone who lives in the river north area, I have actually been here, probably a dozen times, and it's always a good little spot but a little bit pricey for what you're getting. I would still probably come back with some friends, but I wouldn't go on my way to come here if I was bringing people off from out of town.

We recently took a large party from work for lunch at Bar Siena. Beautiful restaurant, fantastic service, great food. There is indoor and outdoor seating and both are elegant. Outside, vibrant with hanging flowers and tasteful covers. Inside is bright with stark woods and black accents creating a classy but casual atmosphere. We had a table of 8, and our waiter was on point, making great suggestions, was charismatic and did a great job. Every time service came, there was help to expedite the service. We ordered the calamari and meatballs for appetizers. Both were exceptional. They went quickly. I couldn't get pictures. I had the focaccia with prosciutto which was a suggestion and it was the perfect blend of savory and sweet...fantastic. Likewise, my rigatoni was exceptional. Most of the table had their signature burger and they raved about it. If you're in Chicago looking for really solid Italian food, I highly recommend Bar Sienna.

Wonderful brunch experience. Ran a 5K event in Fulton and stopped here for the patio seating experience. The entire staff team was fantastic and very helpful. BOMBO burger OR breakfast sandwich are a must - try. Thank you so much Bar Siena team!

Caesar* and we paid for added on chicken and it was so small for $30!!

Was so excited to try this restaurant as it seemed popular and was recommend by some locals, but can honestly say for the price point and the amount of food we got, I was really underwhelmed. We shared the truffle focaccia which was great, but for over $20 and only a few pieces I can't say it was entirely worth it. My friend and I shared the caesar salad and added on chicken and were shocked at how small it was for a nearly $30 salad....not something I'd order again as it also wasn't cut or tossed and was not sizable enough for even one person really. The calamari was good and the drinks were fine. Overall I wouldn't say the price point matches the quality or amount of food.

We came here for an early Saturday lunch. The place was empty when we arrived, and pretty much stayed that way throughout our meal. The service was great but disappointed to find out that they closed Bombobar. We ordered their Bufala Margherita pizza and their Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Both dishes were really tasty. My daughter really enjoyed the pasta. We still wanted to finish off our meal with something sweet so we ordered their Mini Bombolini. I've had these before at their other restaurant and loved them. Glad they still have these. I can definitely see myself returning.

West loop happy hour must have! Enjoy their Paloma's and that pepperoni pizza is delicious. Sitting on the patio and enjoying a few cocktails with my girls for a yap session. Great service and get the donuts for dessert such a treat!

Great patio! Happy hour pizza and drinks. Palomas, Rose and Margherita pizza for the win.

Stopped in for a bite on a Saturday afternoon. There wasn't a lot of booth seating but there were a lot of high tops open, plus they let us bring our stroller to the table! We got the hot chicken sandwich and the gnocchi sausage pasta. Both were good dishes but didn't amaze us, plus our sandwich was a bit cold. The spot has killer reviews, and a cute ambiance so I will give it another try at some point!

Came for dinner tonight and we came before the after work rush. We were seated upstairs with the very gorgeous tree as the centerpiece of the room. We were brought water and we ordered our dinner. We ordered the bar Siena chop salad, salmon and the gnocchi. And of course, still had room for dessert / tiramisu and the bombini doughnuts. When we left, the hostess area was crowded. Good place to come for after work or to celebrate.

We went on a busy Friday Lunch. service was great. She was busy and fed multi tasking but took care to be sure we were good. We had the burrata, the focaccia with prosciutto and I had the soup and he had a burger. The burrata was tasty and the jam with it good. The focaccia was different filled with cheese and not as fluffy but very tasty and the prosciutto was as delish. When my soup came out it was cold. They took it back and brought a new one out and comped it no questions asked. Super nice of. mgt. Bf burger was ok. Seemed to be a frozen product and not super smash burgery but wasn't terrible. The spritz I had was good. I would go back and do a pizza next time.

I went to Bar Siena for dinner on Saturday night and loved sitting outside to enjoy the bustling weekend atmosphere. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, and the staff were super nice. We ordered the rigatoni (with chicken added), a Margherita pizza, and a Caesar salad. Everything was delicious, and I have zero complaints!

The perfect nightcap after an evening in West Loop! We stopped in and grabbed seats at the bar, an old fashioned, and espresso martini. I would order either hand crafted drink again, and like the dim, but strong light lit ambiance. Great place to grab happy hour, dinner, or even watch a game with a more upscale vibe.

Ask the Community - Bar Siena

Is this restaurant kid friendly for brunch? Celebrating a family member and wondering if I can bring my 9 month old.

Brunch should be fine with a kid, they have a patio so if the weather is nice I'd suggest doing that

Do they allow bottles of wine to be brought in?

No, however they have a wine list.

Is it 21 and over ? I'm turning 20 and want to celebrate there it's looks so nice

No it's open! Not an actual "bar."

Hello! Does this spot serve tea as a drink option?

Yes. Such good choices. Love their tea service! Honey, Lemons, Milk, Sweetener Caddy, Extra Hot Water Pot. Love love love!

Is this restaurant pet friendly ( not service dog) and if it is, is the patio open now in winter?

They even have a puppy menu!!!! It's great! A menu just for my fur baby!

Any tips on parking? We're headed there for dinner tonight.

Your best bet is just to valet it, especially in this weather. It's notoriously difficult to find parking on or near Randolph street. There's a valet stand right across the street in front of the little goat diner.

BomboBar - I know we can get it from the outside window but on cold days I know you can order from inside Bar Siena too. I was just wondering if it's okay to sit inside Bar Siena but only order BomboBar?

Yes, you can sit in Bar Siena and only order from BomboBar. I've done this before and the waiters were totally fine with it.

Is this a lettuce entertain you restaurant?

Hi Mandy. It is not. We are a DineAmic Group Restaurant!

Are you allowed to order from Bombobar if you're dining there? Maybe we can save time and not have to get in line if we're going afterwards to Bombobar, anyways.

Yes.

I want to preface my review with the positives, Londyn was our server & was truly so kind, thorough, and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean & all tables have clear views of the TVs on game days. Now for the room for improvement- the food was very underwhelming. Being from the Chicago area previously, I regularly advocate for the Chicago food scene, and this unfortunately did not meet those standards. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, buffalo cauliflower, wings, and sesame ginger salad: -Brussel sprouts: tasted like they weren't seasoned just air fried and drenched in balsamic dressing -Buffalo cauliflower: soggy, unseasoned, runny buffalo sauce -Wings: PERFECTLY CRISPY, but no flavor (we ordered lemon pepper & buffalo) -Sesame ginger salad: sloppy mix of vegetables tossed in an overly sweet sauce with no sesame or ginger flavor in sight If you're not going to eat, this is probably a great spot, but from a food standpoint, there is room for improvement.

October 1, 2026 TL;DR: Arbella was this close to a five-star…read moredate-night experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, our server struck the perfect balance between attentive and giving us space, and both cocktails I tried were creative and delicious. The truffle fries were pretty mediocre, but even that wouldn't have stopped me from giving Arbella five stars. What did? Discovering afterward that a 5% "service charge" had been added to the bill. I really dislike this growing practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees rather than simply pricing their menu accordingly, and it was enough to cost an otherwise excellent experience two stars. Ambiance: 5/5 Arbella absolutely nails the atmosphere. I came here on a date, and it was a great choice for that. The music was good, the lighting and decor created a really intimate vibe, and our booth was comfortable enough that we could settle in and actually enjoy the evening. There was energy in the room without it being so loud or overwhelming that we couldn't have a conversation. Even the menu design and presentation fit the experience. If you're looking for somewhere that feels elevated, interesting, and still comfortable for a date, Arbella definitely checks those boxes. Service: 5/5 Our server was fantastic. This was one of those rare occasions where someone found exactly the right balance between being attentive and not constantly interrupting our date. We never felt forgotten about, but we also had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves and talk. I especially appreciated the recommendations. Whenever we had a question or wanted guidance on what to order, our server was knowledgeable and genuinely helpful rather than simply pushing something on the menu. Excellent service from beginning to end. Drinks & Food: 4/5 The cocktails were easily the highlight. I tried the First You Take The Graham and the Trankilo Melon, and both were really good while also being different enough from what I would normally order to make the experience more memorable. This is exactly what I want from a cocktail bar: drinks that make me curious enough to try something new and then actually deliver. The truffle fries, however, were mid at best. They weren't terrible, but compared with how impressive everything else felt, they were forgettable. I'd absolutely come back for the cocktails, but I'd choose something different to eat next time. About That 5% Service Charge... This is unfortunately where Arbella lost me, and ultimately why I cannot give the experience five stars. I didn't notice until reviewing my bill afterward that a 5% service charge had been added. I strongly dislike this increasingly common practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees to the bill. If operating costs have increased, I would much rather an establishment incorporate those costs transparently into its menu prices so I know what I'm agreeing to pay when I order. Calling it a "service charge" also creates unnecessary confusion, particularly when customers are still expected to decide what to tip their server. At a cocktail-focused establishment, where you may be ordering multiple drinks throughout an evening rather than paying attention to every line of the check, I think fees like this need to be extremely clear and prominent before ordering, not something a customer discovers afterward. For me, it feels like an extra charge for simply using the establishment in exactly the way it was intended to be used. Overall: 4/5 The frustrating part is that without the service charge, this probably would have been a five-star review. Arbella gave us a genuinely great date night: beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, creative cocktails, and a space I otherwise would have happily recommended and returned to. Instead, that 5% fee left a sour final impression on what had been an excellent evening. It may seem small, but transparency around pricing matters to me. Arbella did so much right that I want to come back, but the service charge is significant enough that I would think twice before doing so.
