I came in with high expectations. We loved the family style menu . The vodka pizza and the Caesar salad . The pasta that came with our chicken parm was outstanding . Husband said the martini was amazing ( chicken pretty good too ) . We loved the dim lit cozy atmosphere and the service was A plus. It took me over a year to snag a reservation at this quaint restaurant and it was worth the wait . Excellent !

The family and I snagged late evening reservations. My sister found Dimmi Dimmi on TikTok - I told her I wanted tavern style Chicago pizza and she totally delivered. The sausage pizza was my favorite, and it paired nicely with the Caesar salad and stuffed shells. Washed it down with a nice lager too. If I was shameless, I would've ordered another sausage pizza just for myself.

Managed to snag a weekend lunch reservation on RESY. Overall, although everything looked booked at first glance, there were a lot of cancellations on the notify list, so if you are reasonably fast and flexible on your time, it wasn't hard to get a weekend reservation with 1-2 weeks advance prep. Interior is very classic, with a dark older aesthetic and some nice stained glass features. The menu is short and very American-Italian forward. We got cocktails which were tasty but didn't stand out. The food leans more comfort food classics. While everything was delicious, they didn't really stand out. Portions were a bit small for the price. We got the famous pizza, and I found it very unique. I can see how it would be love it or hate it. The pizza is pretty small given how thin it is, and we easily split a pizza between two people without feeling stuffed. The crust is extremely thin and crispy, it was almost like eatting a pizza on a tortilla thickness amount of crust. It wasn't very reminiscent of tavern style pizza as much as it's a specific recipe Dimmi Dimmi does. The pasta and apps were all excellent, but I don't think the pizza was really for me Service was stellar and everything came out very quickly.

After a long month of waiting for our reservation, we finally had the pleasure of dining at Dimmi Dimmi. The vibe is quite intimate with fantastic service. The menu is made so that you enjoy a bit of everything from an Italian meal. Our main issue was value of meal as portions were quite small with everything we ordered Food reviews: Manhattan--must order drink. Crisp and perfectly balanced in flavor. Tuna Crispy Rice-- our favorite dish of the evening. Good ratio of rice to fish Gnudi pomodoro--very light and airy. Tomato sauce wasn't too rich either Vodka pizza--slightly disappointing. Not crispy compared to some of the other thin tavern spots in the city. Flavor of the ingredients also got lost

We were delighted to get a late afternoon Saturday lunch reservation off of priority notify on Resy. The restaurant smelled amazing upon entry and immediately prepared me to be eating some outstanding Italian food. We were seated in a small booth by the window which was lovely. Service was great and the food was outstanding. For lunch we ordered the Dimmi salad with chicken, cavatelli bolognese and the vodka pizza. The salad was simple but so so good with juicy perfectly cooked chicken and the pasta was piping hot and al dente, but of course the star of the show was the pizza. It's truly unbelievable how thin they are able to get this pizza! Hopefully I will be back in Chicago sometime soon because I would love to try everything else on the menu.

Very yummy chicken parm with vodka pasta! Recommend walking in for bar seating, we only waited like 15 minutes! Good vibes inside.

Stopped by Dimmi Dimmi last night to check out the hype, and this place gets a 5 star rating from me!!! We stopped in around 6:30 on a Thursday and had to wait approximately 20 min for a seat at the bar as we couldn't get a reservation. The women at the door were so kind and helpful, and it made the walk-in process way less stressful. The bar staff was super friendly, and they offer full menu service there. We ordered the crispy rice as an appetizer then got some dishes to share. The farfalle pasta and the vodka stuffed shells blew me away! I was dreaming about them the next morning. I hear the chocolate cake is amazing, but we, sadly, didn't leave room for dessert last night. We'll have to come back!!

Tiramisu

Solid 4.5 rating! Went on a Thursday night with a reservation. Service was pretty good, but the waitress could have checked up on us a tiny bit more. Still very solid and everyone there is super friendly! Ambiance is pretty cool as it's also a well-decorated establishment. Overall I was very happy with the food and I can't wait to go back. The Italian tuna crispy rice is unlike anything I have eaten before. It is very similar to the flavor profile of arancini- the rice compliments the Italian seasonings to give it a profound taste without being too overwhelming. The tuna is topped with an olive tapenade, adding great contrast with its acidity! I would come here again just to eat this dish. The chicken parm is also excellent here. It is very flat and has a nice crisp. Very nice change of pace that it comes with vodka pasta on the side instead of marinara! I would pass on the tiramisu next time. It was yummy, but didn't really taste of tiramisu. Just mascarpone cheese with some flavor. I recommend trying a different dessert item but if you love pudding, this is still a solid choice! Just not nearly as impressive as the other dishes I ate.

Intimate neighborhood Italian spot with amazing hospitality! Well thought out menu that has a nice variety of options ranging from classic Italian dishes to more modern. Crispy rice with the tuna was outstanding, vodka pizza a must, chicken parm taken to next level, and a cocktail game on point with the best of them! Reservations are tough to come by but worth the wait. Pro Tip: Tiramisu out of this world!

Sausage pizza and cheese pizza

The cracker crust pizza is an absolute must! It blew me away. I was stuck between four and five stars but I think the pizzas themselves are a 5-star experience. The service wait staff are attentive and give great recommendations. The decor is trendy, polished, and yet still homey somehow. I didn't love the chicken Parmesan, but it was good. The cocktails were unique, but not my favorite in the city. They have a unique vodka sauce as well. If you want to walk in, lunch is a great time to do so!

Came on a Thursday during lunch time and there was no wait at all. The food was hot and delicious. The Caesar was super tasty - briny and lemony.

Still thinking about this pizza... I could probably eat an entire pizza from here by myself. I think I ate half in like 5 minutes because it's so thin I was just popping a whole slice into my mouth. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks and the spicy vodka stuffed shells, which were both delicious. For drinks, I tried the hazelnut espresso martini and dimmi spritz! Both were really good. The dimmi spritz was super refreshing and lemony. We also got the tiramisu for dessert and it was so creamy. Their chocolate cake looked great too, so I'll have to get that next time. We came on a Friday around 5pm, but it was a little rainy so we were able to be seated right away outside. Although, we were sat at a table that was being rained on, but we moved to another table. Our server was really friendly and helpful in recommending what to get! Food came out fast and paced well so we didn't get the pizza and shells at the same time.

Aperol spritz, honey spritz

Finally managed to try the hot table in town! Now that the patio is open, which is first come first served, it's much easier to dine here. Relieving I know! The inside is very small so the patio truly doubles the seating capacity. Our server Lily was wonderful, and added to the relaxed and welcoming vibe. We started with spritzes, because how could we not. Truly can't think of anything better than a patio spritz on a warm summer day. Now for the food. Oh man, I was seeing stars. I'm so glad a friend told me to order the Mediterranean crispy rice because WOW it's an A+ bite. I hadn't read hardly any reviews of this dish, so y'all are sleeping on it. The pepperoni pizza was perfect, with a cracker thin tavern crust and high quality ingredients. Makes great leftovers too! And the pièce de résistance - the chicken parm. Wowza, this is what I want from this dish. No notes. And it comes with pasta. And it's good pasta. Check, check! I can't wait to come back to try more of the dishes (gnudi I'm looking at you), and have more spritzes on the lovely patio. I can confidently say that Dimmi Dimmi does everything well and is worth the hype.

We originally came to Ghost Donkey as paranormal investigators, after being hired to locate the…read moremissing ghost donkey belonging to a local agave farmer. The case had gone cold--or perhaps mezcal-hot--until we received a clue pointing us toward River North. Ghost Donkey is spacious, colorful, and full of energy, with plenty of bar seating and tables. The music can get loud, but it fits the atmosphere perfectly. The bartenders were constantly interacting with guests, swinging the lights, encouraging the crowd, and turning the entire room into a neon-lit fiesta. They do have a food menu featuring items such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and guacamole, but we mostly came for the drinks. Many of the cocktails are tequila- or mezcal-based, which is exactly what we enjoy. The menu is creative, the drinks are strong, and the bar does an excellent job making agave spirits approachable--even for guests who may not consider themselves mezcal experts. After two drinks and an argument with a decorative donkey, we finally found the missing spirit hiding behind the bar. He was translucent, smelled faintly of roasted agave, and appeared to be carrying a tiny map. We followed him through a glowing hallway, down a staircase, and into a secret chamber where he revealed the legendary piñata of Quetzalcoatl, the ancient feathered serpent god. Naturally, we attempted to break it open. Instead of candy, it released a cloud of mystical dust, three lime wedges, and a receipt for nachos. The ghost donkey brayed with laughter, the lights began swinging, and the entire bar erupted in applause. The bartender handed us another drink and told us this happened all the time. Ghost Donkey is a fantastic place to hang out, pregame, and enjoy inventive tequila and mezcal cocktails in a lively setting. Just be warned: you may arrive looking for a ghost donkey and leave having helped recover an ancient Mexican god's piñata. That's simply the sort of evening this place encourages.

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

I reached out to the restaurant and was assisted with a reservation for 14 people. Our table was set and ready to go as soon as we arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday. Overall customer was excellent. Thank you to the hostess for making my sister, the bride, feel special. She complimented her and hyped her up for the night, which was really sweet. Our server was awesome too. He was friendly and highly attentive. Loved that our food and drinks also came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed everything I ate. I had a few bites of the appetizers including the scallops, fried paneer, and 2 kinds of empanadas (corn and chicken). We also got lumpia and a mixed bread platter for the table. Though I didn't have any of the latter, they were a hit at our table. I got the burger as my entree, and it was such a redemption from a crappy burger I got elsewhere earlier in my trip. The double smashed patties were juicy and flavorful. I devoured the burger and loved the thin cut fries. All-in-all, we had a lovely dinner at Ila's for my sister's bachelorette party.
