    Onion Rings

A Vail staple. Be prepared to wait a little for a table but it's worth it. Prices are a lot better than everywhere else and it has a great vibe. Depending on when you're in there, they'll have live music going as well! Such a fun atmosphere to apre ski at!

Summertime patio dining in Vail is a must. Take in the mountain slope view and the bursting flowers while you people watch those strolling through Vail Village! The Red Lion is perfectly positioned to take it all in! The food was good, especially the Ruben. The Bleu Sky Burger was really good! Skip the onion rings. The service was ok. Somewhat slow and they forgot one of our plates.

Have always loved this spot in any season! With friends or for a family group dinner. Best chicken tenders. The sandwiches are also great, and my family likes the spinach artichoke dip (you can get it in a bread bowl!) Apres ski or for a Sunday game viewing at the bar

It's Christmas time! Looks like the employees get money as a bonus because their stockings are so tiny.

The Red Chili Soup on the menu hit the spot. We had a trainee as our waitress and she was great. This was the perfect place for us, our adult kids and our grandkids.

Great spot for a bite, drinks and some music after the mountain. This place has great energy and a prime location. Despite how busy it is, the servers are very attentive. We enjoyed our time here!

Summary: do not come here. Rude and racist staff, mediocre drinks, and dirty. Staff checked my party's IDs upon arrival at the entrance on a Saturday evening at 10pm. We waited patiently for a table and was guided to a dirty table. We waited again for a long time for the table to be cleaned. During this time no staff helped us or asked for our order. We went to the bar to order as the staff was not helping us. After getting our drinks the table was finally cleaned. The waiter, John, asked us why we did not order at the table because in order to keep the table we must order through him. We could not order at the table because we were not helped at all. We did place future orders through him and were asked for our IDs 3 additional times even though we were checked at the door. They did not do this to any other people at the establishment. My friend tried to order a whiskey sour ($8) and the waiter, John, stated that they taste terrible and recommended an Aperol spritz ($15). We had tried the whiskey sour and it was fine. It was a clear dishonest tactic to pressure us to order more expensive drinks. After our drinks were served, the staff constantly pestered us to order more and check our IDs. The staff kept making up different excuses to shoo us away from the table and eventually used a fake dress code to kick us out. If the dress code was real, it should've been informed/enforced at the door. Overall, this bar is a scam. They use cheap immoral business practices to upsell their drinks and kick you out if you are a person of color. They treated other non-poc with respect, but constantly harassed my party with ID checks and ordering more drinks. We had a terrible experience and I would not support this business.

It's awesome! A great experience every single time I have been here - this time it was late on. Sun night ~815 pm. First time I have been here where it wasn't packed . Maybe 10 people total, and we sat at the bar. Awesome service (always here - even when packed after skiing) and delicious food. My son loved the burger & I had the brisket (wonderful w excellent barbecue sauce) and a couple of Vodoos. Happy, full and tired = good times & better food!

Just noticed not all of my pics posted in my last review so updating this. I think the shotski picture needs to be seen! We look forward to cold beers on the warm sunny patio this season. Can't wait!

First day in Vail. Snowing like a - - - -'er outside and we were already tired of the snow in our faces. It looked busy inside, but warmer where they were watching all of the games on the TVs. A couple of cold beers and some of the famous, and very good, stack of nachos that seemed to be on almost every table. They were very good. We even took the leftovers home to make chilaquiles the next morning since there was cheese stuck underneath every chip. The onion rings were unquestionably house made as the uncommonly thin, but very tasty batter coated the large slices of onion and made something for the house-made ranch to stick. Good stuff! Their beer list worked hard as did our Argentinian server. We forgot his name, but his characteristic accent was obvious to the wife and I (she's Argentinian), so I ordered anything with Chimichurri. He said, "no sorry, we don't have anything with that", but made for a light and pleasant conversation. Somehow, a large mouse appears in a blue costume behind me. WTF? I think the beer was kicking in. What do these people in Vail do? Stop in for a cocktail and beer. Dicks

Came here for lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon after hiking Booth Falls. We got a seat in the outside patio and it was so nice with the sun shining on us and the slight breeze. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We both got burgers and it was made just right. I asked mine for medium rare. I got the sweet potato fries and it was crunchy but still moist inner fry so it was made just right. Price was a little expensive for a burger, but not bad considering you're in Vail.

Hey, this is a good solid bar and restaurant in downtown Vail. I enjoyed the BBQ ribs, friends had a Sierra Madre burger and another beef Stew, appetizer Chips, and Queso. service was good. Most of the people working were from Argentina, which I thought was interesting. Restrooms are down a long narrow flight of stairs, not accessible. Plenty of food. Not the best ribs ever, the fries were good, the coleslaw so so. Friend loved the burger. Beef stew was rated 7/10, Vail prices, but could be worse.

We chose the Red Lion for lunch because it was more low-key and less expensive than most of the restaurants in Vail Village. The chicken ceasar and nachos were pretty good but the game creek bowl salads were nothing super special. Service was also friendly but quite slow. The ambiance was great sitting on the porch in the summer and listening to live music!

Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. It was clean and inviting. They offered an array of choices, so there would be something for everyone if you decide to dine here. The food was good, preparation and display were done carefully, but the taste was overall just ok. The appetizers we chose were Warm Pimento Cheese, which was mildly flavorful, but good, and Prime Beef Carne Apache, which had no flavor at all. The main courses we chose included a pork dish and a chicken dish. The chicken had great flavor, but was placed on a bed of potato wedges which were not all completely cooked through. We felt this took away from the overall dish. The accompanied sauce made with yogurt and poppyseed did not add any flavor to the dish. The pork dish had great flavor. The drinks accompanying the food were made well and tasty. The kids menu has an array of choices as well, and our choice of macaroni and cheese was a hit! We ended with a frozen snicker bar dessert that tasted exactly like a frozen snickers bar. Overall, we had a very nice evening and would definitely visit again.

As anticipated, the place was gorgeous...with a slightly formal air. Given that it was in the Vail Village (near the ski slope), my husband was able to enter the place in his rugged ski suit. Despite the ambiance, it was a bit dead. I was disappointed with the lack of French music overhead...though maybe it was on so low, I didn't hear it? There were plenty of breakfast-brunch options, but on the menu, some items were noted as taking 20 minutes (which we didn't have time for!), so I was a tad bummed about that. In any case, my husband chose this Huckleberry Bacon French Toast, and I ordered the Maryland Crab Benedict. For drinks, we both just ordered plain coffee. As expected, the foods were good. I was more impressed with my husband's choice, this super-fancy french toast. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted spectacular! Mine was good, but disappointing at the same time. I really liked the Crab Benedict, but I only half-liked the side salad (basically just Arugula with a few Walnuts and Figs). The total bill for these items ran over 100 bucks... which, was to be expected in Vail. However, for such a pricey breakfast, I felt that I should have absolutely loved it...but it felt short of that. Overall, I just expected a bit more from this breakfast experience. Again, the decor was gorgeous, but the ambiance wasn't fully there (because of the lack of music?). Service felt a bit short-skimpy as well. Foods were good, but mine especially (Crab Benedict) felt a bit lacking. Let's just say that I've had Crab Benedicts as just as good for half the price...and with better sides.
