Venue is awesome. Lack of booking guidance and very rude door person. When you book - when it asks if you'd like to go another round... say yes! If not, you'll pay for only one course of 9 holes, and may not get to play the other courses. Once we finished the course, there wasn't anymore reservations or availability for any other courses - it was opening weekend - so they were booked. Although it was raining and the courses weren't full..at all.. due to weather.. they still wouldn't allow us another round. Parked in the Houston Center garage and couldn't get back in the building. Ironically there's one way in and out of Puttshack - Through an exterior door on the first floor. So although it's on the 3rd floor.. you actually have to go down to the first floor.. go outside to their door, and take a bunch of stairs or elevator back to the third floor. Why wouldn't you have a mall/building access??! So anyway.. we parked in the garage to the building.. and couldn't get back to the garage once we exited the building to get to the entrance of puttshack. Had to walk around the outside of the building, in the rain, to get back to the car. FIRE THE DOORPERSON. Whomever was on the door the evening of 4/28. He was extremely rude. Wouldn't let anyone in the lobby unless they stood in the rain while he checked ids. Very rude tone. Yelling at people to display their ids. He assumed people knew he was checking ids. He finally started letting people out of the rain.. and he watch a couple walk right passed him and didn't ask them for their id, then after they walked passed him unknowingly.. he yelled at them to display it. He rushed people out there door, shooed people away. He treated everyone like CRAP. He had curly hair and acted like he was door security if the world. His attitude did not fit the vibe of the establishment and was an instant mood killer. Remove this man from your business immediately!!! Aside from that.. it's new.. they're still working out the kinks, and the staff aren't fully trained and aware of how things work. I was surprised at a few things since they just opened Wednesday.. how is the logo and ball markings wiped off the balls already? A screw was missing from one of the holes on the course, one course with the air hockey theme.. the hockey pucks were supposed to move and they were broken. The system glitched and wouldn't pick up our ball and assigned it the wrong score on the last hole. Everything should be in peak shape and operation opening weekend. The venue was fantastic. Very big.. nice bar area, (we didn't eat, but heard the food was good!), we also heard the drinks were good too! (We only had beer because we'd had dinner and drinks before we arrived.) Came here on opening day for date night. If you sign up for their email membership perks, you get one free game which is a $14 value. Cost of games-- $14 per game per person. Game consist of one course with 9 holes. There are a total of 4 courses to choose from. Each course has different obstacles and games, so you can play all 4 courses and have different holes each time. They had way more staff than necessary but it was because we went on opening day and they didn't know how much foot traffic would be present. Recommend booking online so it saves you the traffic and hassle of waiting in line. Staff was helpful to guide you thru the process of making your gamer name, assigning you a ball, getting your clubs, and explaining the rules of the game and how to progress thru each hole. The games go by quickly but they're so fun and cool to see how best to strategize. The scoring is point based and not only by # of strokes. It automatically keeps track of the scores for you and your party. Very fun experience but slightly overpriced IMO. But understandable they have a large overhead with maintenance, staffing, and lighting. It's like a mini carnival inside. I've been to Puttery and thoroughly enjoy Puttshack games and courses more. After all, it's from the same people that bring you Top Golf and Flight Club. I will be back to play more courses, and to try their food and drinks. read more

This place is an amazing concept that needs a few more weeks to work out some kinks. The specialty cocktails are wonderful but pricey. This is not a budget-friendly place, but I can definitely say the expensive drinks are expensive for a reason. They're quite potent, there's a good list of unique specialty cocktails, and everyone in my group was happy with our drinks. The service was slow sometimes, and we were there on a weekday evening in the middle of the week, so the place wasn't crowded. The employees were all really friendly and helpful though, so it definitely came off that they were headed in the right direction and just hadn't quite gotten the rhythm down yet of how to keep everything moving smoothly. The food was also expensive, and kind of hit-or-miss. They were out of what I originally wanted, so I got another item instead, but it was gross - tasted like it wasn't quite bad but wasn't quite fresh either. However, I was able to order a different item instead - the mushroom dumplings - and they were so good. The golf course itself is a nostalgic wonderland, with each hole being themed after a classic retro video game, arcade game, party game, etc. One of the color-coded courses was conspicuously named Ruby/Sapphire, which was a hilarious Easter egg. Unfortunately, the Pokemon reference was appropriate due to the glitchiness of the mechanisms in the golf course itself. It uses GPS or some type of computer system to track the ball assigned to each player, and it's really easy for it to inaccurately measure how many swings you took, or even whether you hit the ball at all. There was one hole where I got it in three swings, but it didn't even register that I'd hit the ball, so I had to re-do the hole. Then it gave me credit for a hole-in-one, which I didn't get. To try and re-balance the game, I deliberately tried to penalize myself on the next hole so I wouldn't have an unfair advantage over my group. So I took a few extra swings, but it didn't register them if the ball hadn't been holding completely still for long enough. Basically, the mechanics of the system need some fine-tuning, or a way for players to correct/override a computer error as easily as it is to scratch out a number on a piece of paper with a golf pencil. This place is such a neat setup, and I'd like to come back. It was just sort of disruptive to the experience to fall victim to computer errors on the first hole, and then more errors when I tried to manually correct for the first errors. In its current state, this place could be best described as a mostly-stable beta release of a really cool thing that'll be truly awesome once it's perfected. Give 'em a few weeks to debug if you want a super smooth experience, but as long as you're aware the place is brand new and they're still working the system out, it's totally worth a visit. As we waited at the bar one of the employees was clearly in a bad mood ignoring everyone and throwing away glass cups smashing them in the trash, the one who took our order asked me 3 times what drink i wanted and still messed up the order ( worst margarita I had). So after waiting almost 20 minutes for our drinks we get in line to play. While in line i go to the restroom to find a guy in the fetal position THROWING UP ALL OVER HIMSELF, so i informed the staff and got back in line just to stand in the same spot for 40 minutes. At this point i went to the front and tried to get a refund and they said they couldn't offer me one. WOULD NOT COME BACK!!!! read more

After visiting Popstroke, Andretti, and Puttery, i'd say Puttshack has been the best place for mini golf in Houston. Their tech-infused courses are really creative and interactive. For example they had a beer pong hole, true/false trivia etc.. For food and drinks our group ordered some flatbreads, appetizers, desserts, and cocktails. Our favorites (that i would definitely get again) were the Beignets, Cookie Skillet, Pepperoni Buzz (loved the hot honey), Margarita Extra, and Pittmaster. As for drinks we really liked the Porn Star Martini and the Very Berry Mule. Customer Service was 10/10 everyone was super nice and helpful. They really hyped us up on the course and would check up on us to make sure everything was going smoothly. Overall we had a great time!! Already planning to come back next week :) read more

Had a good time, lots of the playing holes were broken so we couldn't get the full experience which was frustrating. Also we had a reservation and it was so busy that the hostess of each hole kept trying to send us to a "less busy" hole even though they were all packed. So we ran around for a while before we finally had to say that nowhere had a better line. The food and drinks were very good and the bartenders were super nice! Nice atmosphere and great concept; however, the customer service is terrible. There were 5 employees working the check-in desk but they were socializing with one another and struggling with acknowledging and helping guests. The ONE hostess working noticed my husband and I just standing there without being acknowledged and she even mentioned "none of them have helped or welcomed you?" My husband and I were then added to the wait list to be seated to the restaurant area after waiting to be acknowledged several minutes. The hostess told us to sit anywhere as we waited on our table. We found and sat at an empty table (close to check-in area) and was told to get up AFTER a "reserved" sign was placed on the table where we waited. We patiently complied and stood closer to the check-in table to wait for our table. Fast forward, our table was ready after waiting approximately 20 minutes. We were seated but a waiter never showed up after we were seated 10-15 minutes. WE LEFT! We will try this place at a later date, maybe after they are more established. A great place to spend a hour. The place is very organized and efficient, right when you walk in you check in on the keyos and you then select your course. You then wait for a spot by watching the "status chart" ( Basically like a flight status chart). We got our drinks and then got assigned a course. We all got assigned balls and were told the basic rules. We played through the nine holes which was really cool. The whole course is automated, meaning it keeps track of the score and everything. After we finished the winner was announced. Great place for a fun family summer outing. Definitely pay a visit. read more

tldr; All in all it was a fun outing. It was only about $30 for two people for one go. I'd recommend playing twice (on separate courses) unless you're in a bigger group. Otherwise you're in & out pretty quickly. ~So we came here on a Sat night as an alternative to Puttery. My first thought was, "I'm not sure why it has all the low star ratings." It was a bit confusing getting there but I blame google maps and my frustration at driving in downtown. When found, parking is fairly easy. We parked in the Houston center garage off of Caroline st ($25) and walked around the building to the front. There's a desk & an attendant downstairs but all she does is tell you to check in upstairs? & a guy checks id's (21+ after a certain time.) My biggest gripe was lack of communication. There's 4 courses & once you check in on the iPad, you have to go to the tv screen in front of the bar & wait til it tells you which course you're in. Easy enough but none of that was communicated to us until we specifically asked. Once we got to our course everything went fairly smoothly. The balls are connected via Bluetooth? Or something so it registers your name once you set the ball on the hole. A couple holes were malfunctioning but they had attendants hanging around & things were fixed quickly. My second biggest gripe is the overall space of this place is lacking. The 2 courses in front are spaced apart but not the 2 in the back, they're basically right on top of each other. The holes themselves are also pretty close together, so there isn't much space for hanging around or waiting. Bumping into someone is to be expected. The good thing is that you didn't have to play in order so you had the choice to move around to empty or less packed holes. It also wasn't timed so we were able to go to the bar, get drinks & chill then come back to the course. We didn't try the food so I can't speak on that but the drinks were good. Despite the hiccups, we both enjoyed our time & would come back. I enjoyed the actual holes at Puttery more but I'd recommend here as well. read more

To start, when we first walked in it was super cute and the lady at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. However, when we went upstairs and had to check in, no one was helpful and didn't seem to be happy to help either. Everyone just huddled around the host stand and talked. The golf course here was fun. It automatically counts your strokes and has different themes for different holes which was super fun/cool. However, you only get to do 9 holes. There were two people in my party and it took over an hour to do because there was a family of 6 in front of us. There was also no way to go in front of them because it all goes in order. You also don't get to play on all holes showed in google photos. They split up different holes and your group is assigned to one of the courses without choice. We ordered drinks at the bar when we were at hole 2 and didn't get our drinks until hole 8. The 2 drinks were cokes which we payed $12 at the bar for and then when we went to sit at a table it said the price of a coke was 3.75 so we got ripped off. We ordered 2 cali chicken sandwiches and the bread was so tough we couldn't bite through it. The fries were delicious and the buffalo chicken dip was also very good. Our server was nice but wasn't very attentive. Only came over to take our orders and give us a refill but never came back to ask if we needed anything, how our food was, or for the check for a long time. read more

I continue to return to puttshack for John Michael's customer service because it is excellent and he goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and fun environment. I do however want to mention that the recent food menu change was a bad call. I ordered the octopus and got 3 small skewers of octopus on top of a plethora of some type of salad that was not listed on the menu. They had huge attitudes for no reason because we were being polite. Then we paid 60$ for 4 people to do 9 holes. Initially we were thinking it was going to be bigger games but it was small, they put us in the corner and there wasn't many cool aesthetic things in the course. It was boring and was very short. I'm not a review person but I feel I would be doing a disservice not only to future guests but also the management at Puttshack by not saying something. We came in last night at around 8:30 and the door man was incredibly rude. There are bad days(we all have them) and then there is just being a condescending, uninviting, entitled person. I wish I could tell you what triggered this man but I don't think I was able to even get a word off. He didn't even let the people in front of us go in because they had a paper id I think? Which is a perfectly valid ID. We left. It was a shocker honestly and I had been looking forward to checking Puttshack out, I mean it looks awesome online! A door man's primary job is to obtain identification and monitor guests coming in and out for safety. Aside from those two things his job is hospitality. He is the first person your guest sees and holds the first impression for the business in its entirety. I want to retry Puttshack but I also don't want to get talked down to and pushed to feel unwelcome. The golf was rushed and felt crowded and overbooked - it was actually very hard to find the place with google maps and took some significant walking from the garage. My daughter and I visited this place for a mommy daughter date night. We had a great time. My daughter is 17 and she truly enjoyed trying to beat me, of course I won lol. I had a great time visiting Puttshack for the first time! I went on a Saturday night, and it was really crowded and the bar service was pretty slow. I think they should hire more bartenders on a Saturday night. We also had to wait about 15 minutes to start our game because they were out of adult putters, so we had to wait for other groups to finish up before we could start. Despite all of that, it was a blast! I love the technology of it all, how their screens keep track of your score. Pretty fun and challenging holes to try out. I've tried Puttery before as well, and in comparison, I prefer Puttshack. Great for a date night, out with friends, or even a company team building opportunity. read more

I got to this location at 5 in the afternoon and already had to make a reservation for 8 PM. We came back at 10 with reservation and played mini golf first. The course itself was very fun but it was very packed. After we went to the restaurant side with our 10:45 reservations. The server took 15 minutes to just greet us and get us our drinks. It took her 10 more minutes to come get our order. The margarita pizza was very delicious as well as the s'mores flatbread. Overall it was a very nice experience except for the wait on the service. read more

The concept of puttshack was really cool, you get a ball tagged to your name and it tracks the scores for you! It had an array of different tracks which made they variety fun! It was also easy to book a slot online and get started once you're there. However, parking was a pain and extremely expensive around the area. Furthermore, I think an additional item was added to my charge later, and it was almost impossible to get the manager to send me a receipt. It took at least 6 calls on different days to finally get it (even though they said they would have it to me during the second call). Cool space but just make sure you get a receipt at the end of it. read more

Honestly this place did not meet expectations , the employees really have nothing to do...then when you ask them to help they kinda are useless tbh. We walk in and the lady says do you have a reservation. We say no it's our first time . She says "well it's online reservation online. Sign up and then you can go up" so employees can help basically. Gotta go online and sign up so we did then we they charged my card they said website was down and it didn't go through so I tried again then it went through then we walk up and find out I was double charged , I ask the manager upstairs and she says your going to have to go online and dispute it....so we just say f it and let's just start . Then she said oh to start use the iPads and sign up first....so we fill out our info on the iPad and don't know what to do then she says walk to the screen and you can start. Then all that work and it was 9 tiny holes which we completed in about 5-7 mins...lol will never go back tbh. Also got food at the end and it looked nothing like the websites pictures size wise but was not bad I guess. But I just didn't like how they had like 10 employees just standing there but they can't help anyone they just say use the technology lol place was a headache. I was looking for something to do with a 5 year old. He had a lot of fun playing the mini golf. The technology wasn't as perfect as they advertise as we had some issues getting it to keep score, but no big deal. For an adult and small child it was $23 for about 25 minutes of fun. I could see myself having more fun if I were having drinks and playing with adults, but still, the fast pace of it is kind of a buzz kill. Also it was really hard for me to find. They have a LOT of signs around the area, because I'm sure they have had a lot of problems getting people to find it. They partially validated my ticket. I think I had to pay $8 for parking instead of maybe twice that. I would definitely recommend that you consider going here if you are staying in a hotel near there area. read more
