I really enjoyed this bar. Best I can describe it is a honky-tonk bar with a diverse clientele. They have a big backyard with a stage area and dirt dance floor and they also have outdoor games and seating. Kind of reminds me of an Austin style bar. It's a much better place to hang out at than one street over where it's a frat house crowd. Parking is unfortunately challenging so you should probably consider ubering but it's not impossible. I went to the Shady Acres Saloon last night to support my Friend Natalie, Owner of Truvie's 5th was in there frying up chicken, fries, boudin balls and eggrolls and let me not forget the RERE sauce. Everything was cooked to order and HOT (to the touch) A nice kick place, A place where you get know everyone there. The ambience was like a backyard saloon. They had a jukebox; pool table and you can go sit on the patio in the backyard. The drinks were good and not pricey. I was informed that they have live music some nights, trivia on Monday, Bocce Ball Thursdays, and Bingo on Sundays. Normally they have food trucks to set up and as I stated previously Truvie's 5th is there on Tuesday's. I will be going back on a Tuesday of course but also for Bingo on Sunday's. Shady Acres is located in an awesome area of The Heights surrounded by a bunch of bars and restaurants. I started off at another bar in the area on my Friday evening and eventually made my way to Shady Acres with part of the group later on in the night. Shady Acres is a dive bar. That means you can get drinks for cheap, and cheaper than the other bars in the area. They also have a games area where you can play darts, pool, arcade games, and more. You can't tell from the outside but they have a large patio. There's a stage so I'm sure they bring in live music even though there wasn't any when I stopped by. I have to say we used to enjoy this place. The bartenders are great as well as the bouncers, but at the end, there are these incels employed to patrol and yell at people while they call their Uber. I watched this poor blonde girl go grab her phone charger from the stage. While she was on the stage, this worker from Shady acres approached her and began berating her. It was hard to watch. I've been a loyal customer for years. I have probably spent thousands there. I went there tonight with my wife and Great Dane. We were there for about 4 hours without incident, other than small pups barking at my dog. Then the moment my dog barks back at a fairly large Weimaraner, we get kicked out. If you're going to pretend to be dog friendly, understand that they bark and play occasionally. We were singled out because our dog is big. There was no aggression, just barking. I absolutely love this bar. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is laid-back. The bar is a cross between a dive bar and a local watering hole. It's dog-friendly and has a great outdoor space with a make-shift outdoor stage (which is actually the front porch of a shotgun shack/home that remains on the property) where live music is played on the weekends. Inside there is a pool table and a jukebox filled with a great selection of classic rock, country, Red Dirt & blues. In the space where the outhouses are (aka the bathrooms) there are old-school arcade games & a dart machine. (The only thing missing is Big Buck Hunter; hopefully they will get it soon.) read more

This is a great dive bar. Inside is dark, wood paneled, pool table, great jukebox, interesting breweriana, and really welcoming bartenders. The inside is a real throwback and everything you could want in a corner/dive bar. Then you walk outside...the deck is fantastic with a big yard behind that. Complete with cats and roosters roaming around...oh and a legit BBQ truck, yeah, can't forget about that. Willows Texas BBQ sets up shop here, and is excellent. OK...the dive like nostalgia aesthetic is perfect. Bartenders unpretentious, but knowledgeable on everything they serve. From Celis White or Saint Arnold Art Car, or the rest of the 15 taps. To cans of Lone Star, gin & tonics or a whiskey. The bartenders will also remember you and your preferences. I haven't even mentioned the music yet, great jukebox from Zepp, Lou Reed, to Hank Williams, or Patsy Cline along with plenty of live acts when available. There's not many spots similar to it in the heights, its a laid back, casual dive bar, with cheap drinks and a good selection of beer and ample sitting area out back. It feels more like hanging out at a friends back yard than a bar, which is great. This spot is great! The ambiance is fantastic, with antique signs on the walls and old country songs on the radio. We went on a Friday night, so we got to try the barbecue - brisket with potato salad and creamed corn. The creamed corn was a little spicier than I personally like, but it tasted really good, as did the potato salad and the brisket. The prices are a little too high for the saloon feel, but they said they're starting a happy hour soon. Hopefully those prices match the ambiance a bit better. First time I was introduced to Shady Acres Saloon was 4 months ago... I met a girl from Turkey , the Country ...mind you ... I immediately thought she was referring too Acre Homes because I'm a native Houtonian ..so I thought she's had her Demographics wrong so I Google it and sure enough it's in the Heights where I live and believe me I Support the Bar Association and the Restaurant Association very much ....so the first time I went there I met Greg and Amy and then I went back and I met Law and Nick and Gabby,Tom and the Cool thing about this place....is the People who go there ....it's all walks of Life who come here and no Judgment there ....I've been coming here @ least twice a week since then and the Staff has been Outstanding especially Law ,Nick and the rest of the Crew of course...but it's a Great place if you want to meet cool People and be yourself ....I Highly recommend this place who enjoys meeting people and the women are Cool and Hot but not Pretentious...like the other Bars around that area and the Backyard is the Best thing about this place ....I appreciate the Hospitality Nick and The Law ....
