Spicy chicken sandwich

This place has my vote! The restaurant was quite large, with a lot of lively events going on both in the restaurant and at the surrounding outdoor activities, like pickleball. For food, my girlfriend and I split firecracker shrimp and the chicken sandwich during restaurant week and WOW was it delicious! The chicken was crispy and spicy, and the portions were massive for the price. Finally, our staff was wonderful. Very attentive and prompt to refill drinks, as well as continuous check-ins and quick to bring the check when we were finished. We will be back!

My Fiance and I were staying in Houston just outside the IAH airport for 1 night before headed to gavelston for a cruise and really didn't want to have to worry about going directly into downtown so we found this place. Actual hidden gem and will be back. Food: 10/10- highly recommend the firecracker shrimp if you like spicy / hot food. Service : 10/10. Attentive, friendly, and easy to talk to Ambiance: 10/10 SUCH a fun ambiance. They have pickleball, bags, a golf course and separate golf range, ping pong, and a huge tv outside to watch games with a bunch of chairs set up, etc. location: 8/10 - we personally LOVED the location but I only gave it an 8 because it's in kinda a run down area until you arrive. Also if you want to go into downtown , don't go here but if you are okay being a little outside the downtown and want a gorgeous view of the DT, this place is for you. Plenty of parking too. About 20 minutes from IAH airport and maybe 10 from Downtown Houston

Ok. Here goes. The place is beautiful. Huge open space. Lots of open air patio. Golf green and pickle ball. Awesome establishment. But the atmosphere sucked. The service was horrible. The hostess was to busy on her phone to acknowledge people, the bar tender lacked any if all hospitality manners and my food was a total lack luster. I was hoping for a good review but I was wrong. Sorry but I will pass next time. Till we eat again

Riverhouse Houston is the first eatery to open along the new East River development. For me, our first experience on a slow day was a-ok. Nothing too amazing, but we know they just opened and there's plenty of room for improvement. We started with chips and queso; queso was room temp and wasn't the best. Thankfully, when my pipin' hot fries arrived, along with a turkey sandwich and the beau's premium street tacos (steak), the fries paired nicely with the queso. And let me say, the serving dish that the fries came in kept those fries hot and crispy our entire lunch. Like, boyfriend kept trying to steal my fries. #rude The place is incredibly spacious and has all the outdoor seating you'd appreciate on a beautiful Houston day. Take advantage of the patio while you can before hot as Hades htown summer. Aside from the room temp queso, $18 "street tacos," and ok sandwich, another area they have room for improvement is the menu. There aren't any vegan options; just about everything has meat or cheese/dairy. Even a few sides that are just vegetables (like charred brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, etc) would be nice. Live music is from 5 - 7 PM every Saturday. Also onsite is the East River 9: nine-hole, par-3 golf course, driving range, pickleball courts; Book tea times or pickleball court directly through their website.

This place was very nice, open and spacious. My server was excellent and offered great advice. This place sits back from the main road, which provides an excellent atmosphere. My lunch consisted of gumbo and half a sandwich. Everything was excellent and I would recommend this place for a meal or golf.

New spot alert! Stopped by for their soft opening just in time for game 1 of the 2022 World Series (Go Astros!). Located in East River, River House is a open concept indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant located by East River 9 (a 9 hole, par 3 golf course). I ordered a margarita and some wings. Wings are huge, great flavor, the drawback was they were a little underdone. Drinks were well made. Definitely will return and add more to my review!

Come here to play Pickleball and often eat afterward. Their food menu hasn't changed much but their recipes definitely have. The fries come in smaller portion size now and the spicy hot bird looked a lot different. It was still good but posting this new photo for comparison!

Listen...this is a nice new spot in the community I grew up in!!! My friend had her birthday brunch here and I'm hooked to it. I have already told my Sassy Squad (6 friends since high school) that we will be having a brunch here soon. It is only about 8 minutes from my job, so I've added this to my lunch list. Everyone had something different and I heard so many positive sayings from the group such as: "this is so good", "I'm ready to try something else" , "I can't wait to come back", "I'm going to celebrate my birthday here." They have various places to sit. Inside, outside patio, open tables outside, two laid-back chairs with a small table in the middle near the golf course and a square gazebo where you can see Downtown. Great new spot in 5th Ward!!!

Had an opportunity to checkout Riverhouse / East River 9. Pretty cool concept in a developing side of Houston, TX. You have the restaurant part which is Riverhouse. Tacos are OK. But the chicken wings are huge and have great flavor. Can't go wrong with the buffaloe sauce. A bit on the pricey side as one canned beer was already $6. And bottled water was $4. Like the golf part of East River 9. You can play 9 holes during the day or even at night. They have lights that light up the whole course to play. Only thing that sucks, is you have to carry your bags and walk the whole course. So be ready for a workout!

We ate here for the first time today after playing the par 3 and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I wasn't expecting much for a restaurant at a par 3 and pickleball place but I'm glad we decided to eat there after all. Chips and queso, fajita and shrimp tacos were all good so I really don't think you can go wrong with anything here!

The Pickle Lab is the newest addition to the lineup of pickleball courts in town. Located in the Ion innovation area near Wheeler station, it's conveniently located for midtown/med center residents. You can reserve online - pricing is cheaper compared to most places in town. Parking is free in the adjacent lot for the first three hours. They have four outdoor courts and two indoor courts that are smaller. We chose to play outside and it was just our group and one other group playing. The nice girl who works there said most of their clientele are employees at the ion building and Rice students - both get 20% off. I think they're also super new that no one really knows they're there. The courts outside are nice and well lit at night. Only downside is they don't offer food. I wish they had at least a vending machine for snacks, however I believe they allow you to bring snacks in. They have free filtered water inside also. I guess you could also grab food across the street at one of the restaurants after playing. Overall as far as pickleball courts go it's a nice spot if you're strictly there to just play with friends without having to wait for your turn at a park. If you're looking for a court/restaurant/bar situation this is not it unfortunately. That being said we will be back for a few rounds of good old pickleball for sure!

If you're considering joining The Downtown Met in Houston, do yourself a favor and don't. This…read moreplace is a complete disaster, hiding behind a nice location and slick marketing while delivering some of the worst customer service and member experience you'll find in the city. The communication is abysmal, particularly from Sarah and Alicia, who are repeatedly unresponsive and unhelpful. Emails go ignored, questions are dodged, and if you do finally get a reply, it's vague and often inaccurate. They don't follow up, they don't follow through, and unless you ask five or six times, you will not get any clear answers or confirmations. You are constantly left chasing them down just to get the most basic information. To make matters worse, they will charge you whatever they want, whenever they want, without warning, explanation, or approval. You won't be notified of fees or changes unless you hunt them down to ask. If you're offered a credit, promo, or adjustment, take a screenshot and save every email, because they certainly won't help you figure anything out after the fact. Once you've signed up, you're on your own. Bijan is somewhat more communicative, but not enough to make up for the chaos. There's clearly no leadership or accountability here -- it feels like a group project where no one knows what their role is, and no one really cares. Facility-wise, it's barely above average. Courts are often overbooked, the gym space is mediocre, and amenities are inconsistently maintained. You're paying premium rates for a second-rate experience across the board. Bottom line: The Downtown Met is a textbook case of mismanagement and indifference. For a place that calls itself a "premier fitness and tennis club," it operates more like a poorly run pop-up gym with no structure or respect for its members. Look elsewhere, literally anywhere else would be a better use of your time and money.
