I made a reservation for 12:00 PM, and from the moment we arrived, I was impressed. The restaurant is in a beautiful, tall building with a gorgeous interior. Everything feels elegant and upscale, and the elevators are really nice too. Finding the restaurant was easy--we parked in the garage and walked over without any trouble. Also, don't worry about paying for parking because the restaurant gives you a QR code for complimentary parking. Once we were seated, the service was a little slow. There was only one waiter, and although it wasn't very busy (only about 2-4 other tables while we were there on a Friday), our drinks weren't refilled and no one checked in on us very often. It honestly didn't bother me much, but it's something to be aware of. We started with the homemade sourdough and butter, and it was delicious. The bread was fresh, and the butter had a slight sweetness that paired perfectly with it. I ordered the burger, and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. I asked for it medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The bun is made locally by a fresh bakery, and you can really taste the quality. Everything tasted fresh, the bun was perfectly toasted, the burger was incredibly juicy, and the cheese was amazing. The French fries were also fantastic! My mom and sister ordered the fish and chips, which was the day's special. They said the fish was light, delicate, and absolutely delicious with a crispy beer batter. For dessert, my sister and cousin shared the pistachio mousse cake. They both loved it and said it melted in your mouth, although they mentioned the portion was on the smaller side. The views are absolutely stunning and are worth visiting for on their own. We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday, and it made the occasion feel extra special. The bathrooms were very clean, and there's also a nice outdoor area where you can take pictures and enjoy the incredible views of Houston. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. You'll need to navigate to the building elevators to get to Strato, but this spot does reward you with an interesting view of the rest of downtown. There's something mesmerizing about being high up and looking at tall buildings. The view is doing all the heavy lifting for this space however. From carpeted floors, to chrome finishes, and a lack of ambient music or sound on my visit, the atmosphere was very lackluster. It gave the unsettling feeling of being in an empty office where the loudest noise is the air conditioning. Service was handled well by the sole employee we saw, aside from the cook when he waddled to the bathroom. As mentioned, she took care of hostess and waitress duties for the 5-7 tables sat during lunch hour and that's respectable for me. There needs to be at least 2 people staffed, cmon now. The food is just about a average or a notch above. Hummus appetizer was pleasantly spicy and had a crudite sprinkled on the use that played well to dip with. My Caesar wasn't the worst Caesar I've had, which was nice, and I thought the lamb chops were cooked to a delightful medium. The preparation and delivery of everything is what you'd hope to get at a business lunch $36-$46/ plate at a minimum. This is a "rooftop" (top floor of a downtown building) restaurant. It's a bit difficult to find except it's just in the top floor of a very nondescript office building. Parking would need to be paid street or garage parking. The feel inside is a very old school downtown restaurant feel. The restaurant also had conference rooms next door on the same floor, so it's a fairly interesting in terms of layout. The food we had was very okay. The chicken soup was very similar to canned chicken soup. The burger was also very okay; buns are premade and the meat patty is cooked but not spectacular. Super cute spot for lunch. I visited during a date, but it's very business oriented. There were groups of people on their lunch breaks, so the service was pretty fast. I think we were the only ones that had a cocktail during this time lol! They have drink specials, so on this particular day (Tuesday) they had $10 margaritas. So good and refreshing! I am wanting to go back on a Wednesday to try the $10 old fashioned. I was confused as to where the lounge is, unless that's the bar area. It's a small restaurant, but it has plenty of tables and space. They have a few conference rooms in the back where you can have meetings, etc. They also have an outdoor terrace, but unfortunately, it was closed when I visited because there was a hurricane in the gulf. I will definitely be going back to try the drink specials and check out the terrace. I want to visit during their lounge hours to see what's up with that. It was not crowded at all during lunch. It's almost like a hidden gem. I don't even remember how I found out about this place, but I have been wanting to visit since the beginning of the year and finally got the chance to go. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the ribeye & brisket burger. He couldn't stop talking about the burger literally all day. I'm going to try it next time, or at least the third time because I actually plan on getting the salmon again because it was delicious. They have the salmon included with a business lunch combo that comes with a salad and I'll give that a try next time. I made reservations for a window seat, but I don't think it was necessary on this day. I wouldn't chance it, though. There's a possibility of business groups or parties, so I would book ahead. Staff was laid back and they all assisted with seating, taking our order, bringing our meal, etc. The bartender even came over and introduced himself and I later saw him help with clearing tables. Very attentive service. I'll be able to give 5 stars after a full experience next time. Chef's kiss, so far. Parking is validated from a nearby garage with an attached tunnel to the building. I was able to just score street parking right outside of the main door for like $1 an hour. I didn't mind paying for convenience on this day. Was celebrating a colleague's retirement. We enjoyed everything, the food, service and atmosphere. For an appetizer we had the red pepper hummus and pita bread. It was uniquely made and absolutely delicious. Will definitely come back. read more

Set up on the 43rd floor in the Wedge Tower is this skyline restaurant with magnificent views. I really think this would be great to watch the sunsets. I really enjoyed this bright and airy, modern restaurant with a mediterranean inspired menu. During this visit was a working team lunch so no alcohol was involved but the menu items I tried out from the first course list were the Grilled Lamb Meatballs herb yogurt, artichoke, cucumber, & tomato salad. I'd probably give this dish 3 stars. The meatballs were overcooked. I had also ordered the Grilled Shrimp, tabouli, harissa, marinated olives, cherry tomato, & avocado. Probably closer to 4 stars on this menu item. Service was a bit slow and lackadaisical. Overall I would come back again and for sure during a sunset. read more

Just wow. Best hidden gem of a bar/restaurant anywhere in Houston. Seriously come here for the view of downtown, it's literally perfection on the 43rd flr. Lily recommended their Trinidad Sour and it was phenomenal! She was telling us this drink was actually created by accident, but in my opinion, that's how the best drinks are created. It's a great balance of sweet, sour, and bitter. We also tried their Pimms cup, classic cocktail made well. I can't wait to come back soon to try more of their cocktails. They also have a good looking food menu I want to try, specifically their crispy brussel sprouts, HTX burger, and their lamb ragu. Conference rooms are also available here to host meetings. Strato 550 specializes in luncheons and conference meetings. However, I had a very intimate and romantic birthday dinner at this restaurant. We visited on a Tuesday evening and we practically had the entire place to ourselves. For the best experience, I would recommend visiting right before sunset for a beautiful scenic view and for those perfect golden hour photos. Plan to come dressed in business casual as they do state on their website that dress code is enforced. It may have been because of the time of day (6pm) but the lounge menu was small; it mainly consisted of drinks, a small selection of appetizers, and a couple entrees. While the food was tasty and affordable (I was pleasantly surprised by the menu prices), I did wish they had more food options. Additionally, Strato closes pretty early, 8pm. We were informed by the bartender that the kitchen closes at 7pm and alcohol is served until 7:30pm. According to their website, they are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Parking is validated from the 1415 Garage at the corner of Louisiana & Clay. Bring your ticket to the staff to receive your validation. If the garage is full, you can find nearby street parking available for free after 5pm. I will definitely be back in the future to show off the Houston skyline to family and friends who visit me while also sipping on a cocktail. I visited for lunch and thought Strato 550 was good. Frankly, I'd probably give them 3.5 stars because the service was rather slow for a place that advertises itself as a business lunch spot, but, because they just recently opened and the food was good, let's round up to four stars. We tried the Houston Restaurant Week lunch menu, and it was a good deal--we each got an appetizer and entree for $20. I had the artichoke appetizer--the combination of flavors was great, and I especially liked the kalamata sauce on top. For the entree, I had the market fish (which was scallops), served with a pasta. All in all, the food was good--even the pre-meal bread was good. Strato 550 advertises itself as a business lunch spot, and the restaurant even offers private conference rooms with A/V equipment. So, as a business lunch spot, I'd expect quicker service, but our appetizers took about 15-20 minutes to come out after we ordered. But I'm sure they'll work out the kinks soon! read more

I love this place, one of my new favorite spots in Houston. Very good quality and good ingredients, healthy too, you can tell the chef cares a lot . The saffron risotto with the salmon was amazing, it's hard to find that perfect yellow paella rice without it being too salty or greasy etc..perfect texture. Only open for lunch on weekdays and free parking. Great views of Houston, feels like you are in LA. The chicken dish and hummus are also really good. One of the best views of Houston is from this restaurant. Their happy hour is great, all happy hour drinks are priced at $5.50. Also a great place for lunch for people who work downtown. They provide parking validations to the parking lot across the street from the building. The drinks are excellent and the food is tasteful.
