We ordered a Margherita DOC, Chorizo, and Caivano. They were able to bring the pizza out to the car quickly even though there were about 4727 cars waiting in the lot. First observation: super wet. As soon as you pick up a slice it kind of just flops over and some of the toppings slide off. Not sure if it's because of how soggy or thin the pizza is. Really makes for an exciting surprise. The Chorizo one was a bit burnt, but we just ate around that. The basil on the Margherita pizza was fresh and the cheese was good. Still wet though. I did like the distinct taste of the crust on all three pizzas. I asked my Alexa what Neapolitan pizza is to see if maybe this is just how it's supposed to be, but she didn't use "wet" or "thin" in her explanation. I'd describe it as a damp crepe. We're keeping in mind that this Pupatella is new so we'll try it again in a couple months. read more

Just as good as the Arlington locations! Location - tucked right across the metro. A lot of parking and a huge patio, you can tell this place will be packed in the summer! Pizza: oh so yummy! We got the meatball margherita - the meat is so soft. This pizza is pretty much a margherita except it has ricotta and hints of garlic. By the way, we tried to order online and it said a 45 min wait. The other option is to walk in and order. When we called, they said it was an hour wait..however we decided to walk in and the pizza came out in 10 mins lol so don't listen to the lies! read more

So...........I've been waiting for this place to open. Menu looks amazing, customer reviews are great. They had a soft opening this week so I stopped by Sunday evening. I picked up the Mushroom pizza, sausage & onion pizza, and sausage and pea Arancini. The ingredients including the crust are definitely higher quality (when compared to everyday pizza place). The Arancini was awesome but I wish they gave you a little red sauce to dip it in. I'm not sure if that's traditional or not but I think it would be good. The flavor of both pizzas was very good but both pizzas were a little soggy. I'm sure they will get that kink worked out soon. Long and short this place good and I predict it will be even better in a month or so. Happy to have them so close to my house! read more

Though Pupatella remains open only for takeout or outdoor dining, we had an amazing experience eating outside! The pizzas are juicy and delicious-- the crust is authentic Neopolitan and so so fresh. It's an open kitchen concept, so you can look at the pizzas being created by the talented and hardworking chefs. Their risotto ball appetizers are also a must-try, and so is the gelato (with flavors like pistachio, straciatella, etc). Definitely coming back!! A wonderful upgrade from the Pizza Hut that previously occupied the building. read more

Sometimes you need a business to mess up to find out how good they are. I knew their pizza was good but on my second pickup here, I was told my order had been lost. How do you lose a digital, online order? The hosts and managers were very apologetic as several employees asked if I needed help while another was on a search mission. Eventually, I returned to my car and waited 30 minutes for my pizzas to be made. I kept my cool because no one does thus on purpose. Good sized pizza with simple tasty ingredients. The margarita pizza is definitely a highlight, although unassuming at first glance, each bite had a good depth of flavor that I surely missed after finishing the pizza. I also recommend their panini, especially the vegetable one which was surprising considering I am a meat lover kind of guy. The menu recommends one pizza per person however one pizza is definitely enough to feed two. This place is a breath of fresh air compared to the inauthentic lab-based pizza that is found everywhere. The service was great, although one of our orders was wrong it was promptly corrected. The inside is very cozy, but some tables should be larger as fitting multiple pizzas in the small area that is given is quite the puzzle. read more

I first want to preface this by saying that I have not been to any of their other locations. However I had heard great things about their pizza and I was very excited that they are now in Reston. I believe the store may still be under a soft opening and on a Sat night they were getting a fair amount of carry out orders. The online website is super easy and the carry out process was very seamless. We had to wait a few min for our order, they gave us a number to put on our car and the staff brought out our orders. Very mindful of covid guidelines! I had the Margherita DOC pizza (added prosciutto) and the Sausage & Onion pizza. Both were very tasty, not sure which one I liked better. The Sausage & Onion pizza actually had caramelized onions and lots of sausage. It was delicious, the saltiness from the sausage is great with the sweetness on the onion. Also wanted to comment that they don't skimp on toppings here. And the red sauce on the Margherita Pizza is amazing! Very balanced and fresh tasting does not taste like the bland canned stuff. However my one gripe is that the pizza while nicely charred (and burnt in some areas) was a bit wet and floppy. The crust is thin, but it flopped over in my hand when I held a slice. I wonder if the pizzas just didn't travel well. I def plan to return, but will have to try again when I can eat at the restaurant maybe when the weather is warmer. read more

This restaurant took over a taco bell and still seems to be going through some early teething problems. Firstly it's pretty cramped inside, and there isn't a lot of indoor dining space particularly when it gets busy. As you walk in the 2 restrooms are right near the front door, so now there is a queue waiting for the restrooms, a queue of people waiting to be seated/pick up orders, and staff coming and going to take orders and food to the patio, it's clearly too busy and they really need to figure out a different solution. The restrooms are dirty with no toilet paper or napkins, staff are also using these same restrooms, one staff member even jumped the queue while we were waiting, soo irritating. Food took a while to come out, we ordered 2 pizzas, margarita for the kids and a white pizza for us adults, we also ordered the capris salad which was limp and a waste of time, for $10 you get a small green salad with limp apple slices and 2 thin slices of grapefruit. We were going to order dessert but we realized we would probably be disappointed at the offering and opted to go elsewhere for dessert. Recently joined some old friends at Pupatella in Reston. It was only a short walk from the Metro so it was convenient for all of us.. We ended up being a group of 7 and were welcomed cheerfully and quickly seated. Great bartender fixed a variety of drinks. We started out sharing a a bunch of appetizers, which were all very good. However, the pizza was the star of the show. It was thin crust baked quickly in a very hot oven and with fresh toppings was delicious. One of our friends grew up in Italy and said it was the most authentic Neapolitan pizza he has had since moving to the U.S. We lingered around talking for a good while and no one made us feel rushed. Needless to say, we will all be back! In fact, we noticed that they have a really nice outdoor area that will be great when the weather warms up. read more

Came here with the family after wanting to try them for a while. Glad we had dinner here. The pizzas were great, as were the mozzarella balls. We read that Neapolitan pizzas are moist, tender, and light. Well they all hit the mark. Customer service here is great as well. Nicholas, our server is kind and courteous, always checking to see how we were doing. Def will be returning to try their other pizzas. Anybody who doesn't give Pupatella 5 stars needs to think about what they are looking for in terms of pizza. This is wood fired Neapolitan pizza at its finest. It isn't New York thin crust or Chicago deep dish or whatever Domino's is. The food here is top notch and the service has always been fast. I love they opened the Reston location in an old Pizza Hut building too for the delicious irony. If you want really good hand crafted pizza go there. The flavors and the ingredients are all there and are amazing, but the pizza "mouth feel" is not as good as the Arlington shop in our opinion. The base crust is consistently soggy and cannot hold up to eat it by hand. It's always chewy but seems to have a better crispness at Arlington. The sides are all consistently delicious and pretty perfect. Parking and wait is a lot easier in Reston and that makes it our go to now - despite the soggy crust issue. Would also good if they were able to deal with the small fruit fly issue. Arlington staff seems more passionate, knowledgeable and professional. It's still delicious and the best pizza you're going to find in and around Reston! read more

Last time we will order or dine with Pupatella in Reston. Yesterday we got an email saying delivery now to our location. I ordered a LOT on line THEN I got a text from the driver saying he couldn't find us pls call, so I called him and he said no I haven't left the restaurant yet. He said he'd be to our house in fifteen. We waited and in twenty minutes when the doorbell hadn't rung I went to our front door and sitting outside were three completely cold pizzas along with other appetizers. I called the restaurant to say he never rang the bell and the order was ruined. the hostess said she'd check with the mgr. then came back and said once the order leaves their restaurant it's not their responsibility??????? Ok I am presently surprised, I had the privilege to be welcomed back to Pupatella and was treated to another meal. I got to say the difference is night and day. The atmosphere was brighter and more inviting, I was immediately greeted with a smile and asked if my wife and I would like a table. We were seated and I ordered 2 house salads and a pepperoni pizza with a Margherita pizza. Appetizers were on the table in less than 4 minutes and the pizzas soon followed about 5 minutes later. This place has completely turned around, the service and the food were fantastic. I am absolutely returning for more. My family and I lived in Naples, Italy (the actual birthplace of pizza) for 6 years. We are as picky as can be when it comes to pizza. Pupatella is definitely the real deal. Take it from me, I have the pizza-eating experience throughout Italy. Go, order, enjoy...repeat. Pizza Margherita is to many the true Italian flag. According to popular tradition, in 1889, 28 years after the unification of Italy, during a visit to Naples of Queen Margherita of Savoy, wife of King Umberto I, chef Raffaele Esposito of Pizzeria Brandi and his wife created a pizza resembling the colors of the Italian flag, red (tomato), white (mozzarella) and green (basil). They named it after the Queen - Pizza Margherita. My pizza was very good and the service there was great. I was disappointed however with my to go order of a Caprese Salad. I did not open my salad in the restaurant like I usually do. Once I got to my friends home down the street I opened the salad and realized I had three little squiggles of basil and a little handful of sliced tomatoes. This salad was definitely not worth $13. I would not have complained unless I had seen the in house version of this salad while waiting for my pizza order.
