According to the advice of my friend, the quality of the food (especially the potatoes) widely varies based on who is working there. Sometimes, the potatoes are expertly cooked, well seasoned, and definitely not watery. Sometimes, that is not the case. Today, it was not the case. The potatoes were somehow watery and they were also mushy on the outside, but when you bite into the center, it's hard (which probably means the potatoes were boiled on high head but not for long enough). That made the grains a bit mushy and less appetizing. The scallions were pretty good, crispy, and has a strong onion taste. Overall, you should definitely come here when you want a wholesome meal made with organic ingredient, but don't expect the food to blow your mind. A couple of years ago, I would've rated Naked Lunch 5 stars. However, the inconsistency in quality and portion size depending on the day/workers nowadays makes me lower my rating. The restaurant is designed for carryout, but there is counter space to sit, which is quite nice. If you're shopping at Mom's Organic Market or in the area, this is the best buy in town for lunch. This time, I went with the black bean burger and got the vegan cashew cheese. That sounds frightening, but it's actually really good and creamy! You get to choose between a side of pretzels or greens. The greens are a kale/spinach mix with your choice of dressing. I hate giving negative feedback, but you earned it. In 2022, immediately after eating Naked Lunch kale I suffered intense diarrhea (from Giardia bacteria). Luckily, I keep anti-parasitic herbs in my possession, so the bacteria was eradicated in a few hours. Last week (December 2023), I ate your monk fruit tacos and the sweet potato bowl at which point I contracted h.pylori, which caused me to suffer horrible gastritis and heartburn. Luckily, I'm educated and I know how to eradicate h. pylori, so I have it under control via self-administering a plethora of medicinal treatments. I rarely eat at restaurants anymore and this is why. Most humans can't be trusted to behave ethically. Shame to you and your subpar existence. According to NIH journal articles, "H. pylori infection can cause other disorders, including liver diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and hepatic carcinoma. The importance of other Helicobacter species in the development of hepatobiliary diseases is also considered." and "Based on the currently available data, we confirm that H. pylori infection can increase the incidence of pancreatic cancer in general." Therefore, 1.) stop eating at Naked Lunch 2.) strongly consider boycotting all restaurants 3.) learn how to self-administer naturopathic remedies. read more

Love me some Naked Lunch. Big bowls of fresh and organic ingredients topped with flavorful sauces create my favorite meals. My favorite meals are the roasted and well marinated cauliflower steak, the jammed yam with southwest ingredients of black beans, jalapeño and cilantro, and the lin bowl with asian ingredients of tofu, seaweed, kimchi, and sesame oil. I also love their muffins that I save for breakfast the following day, and their soups. Their cashew cream and creamed corn soup makes me a soup lover. And the fact that all the ingredients are clean and organic is the best part. I can't say I love everyone that work here. A few can be a bit rude, and depending on who makes your bowl, they overdress it sometimes where my sweet potato and quinoa in my jammed yam is swimming in dressing. Super delicious healthy food!! We got the Madhya bowl, Jammed yam and the Black bean burger. Jammed yam and Madhya bowl were very tasty especially the turmeric ginger dressing on Madhya bowl. My husband thought the burger was ok, they could probably switch out the burger buns for something more flavorful as it also comes with lots of kale on the side. This review will be the most accurate review of Naked Lunch. I've been here 50 or more times. The Food, The Process, The Service - Go! Food: Amazing! Everything in the restaurant is 100% organic, so we can order freely without any concern of low quality ingredients. They have a robust variety of superfood creations - my favorites are black bean burger and jammed yam! Amazing! All the food is so delicious and healthy. Prices are very reasonable too. Overall, no complaints! In fact, accolades! Process : The process and service always leave me wanting to not return.... but there's no competition so I have to, if I want delicious, organic eats. I will elaborate: Naked Lunch does "fast casual" style like Chipotle. But they haven't quite figured it out. Chipotle can bang-through literally 15 customers in under 6 minutes. If 4-6 people are in line in front of you at Naked Lunch, you're going to be standing there, awkwardly (I'll explain why awkwardly) for 15+ minutes before you order. It's very slow. Service: (this explains awkwardness) I'm not sure why, but the staff usually creates your meal with a resentful demeanor. There's just no other way to describe it. It's as if they loathe your business. There's consistently no pleasantries or smiles, or any indication that they value our business. They kind of just plainly look up and say, "what would you like?"... if you ask for modifications or substitutions, you can literally FEEL the resent. Usually if you do, they don't acknowledge your request verbally, they just begrudgingly throw your extra tofu on the salad or whatever - try it. Literally there's no pleasantries and it feels like your a guest in a house that doesn't want you. One or two of their staff tries - you can see it. Thy try to be nice to customers, and smile, etc... but the majority have room for improvement. I normally wouldn't review this, but it's so blatant here, that it literally, truly depresses the entire experience. When it's lunch time, I find myself saying, "I'd love a black bean burger, but I do NOT want to go stand awkwardly in line for 15 minutes and get served by people who hate me." I suggest management study successful fast casual style places and try and create a more streamlined process. And coach staff on pleasantries and customer service. Food is bomb! read more

I ordered the black bean burger and it was delicious! The service was incredible and they made the burger pretty quickly, making this an ideal lunch break spot. The burger used whole wheat bread, a generous serving of mayo and a chunky black bean patty. I got a side of pretzels, but you can also get a side of greens if you want to be super healthy. My main qualm about the burger had to do with the fact that it tasted too dry. I wish they had a spicy mango chutney, or a spicy herbed mayo. A vegan coworker raved about this place and on a quest to make good decisions for lunch, we headed over to Naked Lunch and I have NOT stopped thinking about that damn Jammed Yam ever since. Naked Lunch is connected to Mom's Organic Market, but they have a separate entrance. There are only a handful of seats inside, so be warned. The folks at the counter were friendly and helpful and they were not at all stingy with the scoops of superfood. My Jammed Yam starts with a humongous half of a baked yam with crazy big spoonfuls of quinoa, black beans, sautéed mixed peppers, pineapple, an entire half of an avocado, cilantro and this amazing lime jalapeño dressing for a slight kick. It comes with jalapeños too, but skipped this and the young man behind the counter suggested feta cheese instead- BOMB. I would not get it any other way. Everything on the menu sounds too healthy to be delicious, but if the rest are anything like the Jammed Yam, then I am a lifelong fan. They also have made-to-order juice that I was lucky enough to taste - just as good. Decent price for ridiculously large portions. You can't beat that. read more

First time here and came here to grab lunch, part of MOMs organic, so it's healthy, organic and pretty good! They have various types of bowls that you can get as is or customize to your liking. This is a grab and go kinda place. There are a couple of bar seats available. I got the Lin bowl as is which was good! Since this was my first time here, I wasn't sure and confident about what to get so stuck with it as is. This is the most spacious Naked Lunch that I have been to- ok, maybe not, but it feels spacious because they have a lot of room with open space not filled with chairs and tables. The chairs are high plush/ fabric covered comfort at its best- cool! The food is what you expect- a whole bunch of vegetarian goodness. Organic veggies, fruits and grains, as well as fresh pressed juices. It's the same menu as all other NL's, but no complaint from me about that! I still prefer the make my own option- pick your base and add 5 toppings with a dressing. Love love love it! Kale and cabbage and green onions and pineapple and mushrooms and carrots and cauliflower and bell peppers- too many fabulous organic choices! They have cauliflower 'steaks' and smashed sweet potatoes for bases, too, as well as rice and quinoa. A daily soup and muffin are offered as well- yum. The dressings are so tasty- the extra virgin olive oil makes them even tastier. We all have our preferences, but I think the chimichurri and herb vinaigrette are the best. I'm speaking as a crunchy granola, Boulder, Colorado born-and-raised NoVA transplant who knows her way around a natural/co-op market and enjoys both grass-fed free-range beef as much as she enjoys quinoa, flax, and liquid aminos. Conveniently housed inside and next to MOM's Organic Market in the back of the massive Herndon Kmart Shopping Centre, Naked Lunch really is absolutely as good as it gets, and it's the real deal. Best part? The price tag is a lot lower than I was expecting, especially for the quantity and quality of the food. It's a simple menu full of clean, organic, whole, and fresh ingredients, and everything is made, chopped, diced, and prepped on-site and right in front of you. It's order-at-counter made-to-order style, so you watch your food being prepped and then pay immediately at the register. Choose from a large selection of Organic Bowls, which are easily gluten-free, vegan, or soy-free, depending on your needs. They have everything from fluffy brown rice to quinoa to rice pilaf, plus plenty of vegetarian protein options. Veggies and toppings are super-fresh (they definitely pleased my palate with their fresh, seed-ful jalapenos!) and dressings are made on-site with simple ingredients. The organic bowls are only about $8, and it easily provided both lunch and dinner for me. PHENOMENAL!!! The Jammin Yam was so good, I was so sad when my plate was empty... I was worried the Jalapeño dressing would make it too spicy but it was perfect! I love how eco-friendly the place was and their commitment to the environment. The staff was ok, I didn't feel very welcome when I arrived and a couple employees made eye contact with me a couple times before finally acknowledging or helping me.
