Two weeks ago, I ordered two bowls and paid extra to add peanut butter and banana to both. The bananas were missing from both bowls. Yes, I called and asked for my $2 back. It wasn't about the money--it was the principle of paying for something that wasn't included. I did get a full refund on one bowl. Which was greatly appreciated. Today, June 9, I ordered the same two bowls. I tipped 20% (the default option), and the bowls themselves were made correctly. Unfortunately, the customer service was disappointing. The employee behind the counter never greeted me, never thanked me, and seemed far more interested in her personal phone call than helping customers. When I walked in, she briefly put her phone down, handed me my order without saying a word, then immediately picked her phone back up and walked to the back to continue her conversation. I'll definitely continue coming here because I genuinely like the product, but based on these experiences, I won't be tipping going forward. During my most recent visit to purchase a Playa Bowl, the customer service was extremely disappointing. I was the only customer in the store, yet the two employees on duty didn't acknowledge me when I walked in. Instead, they were loudly chatting and laughing among themselves. When I was ready to order, both of them walked to the back without saying a word. Eventually, one of the employees returned to take my order, but she was clearly uninterested--unfriendly, impatient, and distracted by her ongoing conversation with the other employee. The lack of professionalism made me feel disrespected. This isn't the first time I've noticed a lack of proper management. It often feels like the store is being run entirely by unsupervised teenagers. There needs to be serious attention given to staff training and store oversight. People return not just for the food, but for the overall experience--and right now, that experience is seriously lacking due to poor customer service. What a shame. I absolutely loved this franchise, and had been coming for years. With my family of eight, we were regulars until my daughter accidentally made an error on her order. Instead of fixing the order still in progress , the staff member told me to pay to remake all of them rather then just adding the coconut base to the bowl. It was empty & could have been resolved easily. The rudeness, tension & unwillingness to make us happy was disappointing given how frequently we come. Im so disappointed. The blueberries were wrinkly. I spent time picking out moldy strawberries (see pic) and the bathroom was falling apart. The açaí was SUPER sweet, as was the granola. Literally, the faucet came off when I turned it on. No toilet paper and the floor was filthy, sticky and had weird hair balls on it. The paper towel dispenser was hanging open and the paper towels fell onto the floor. I wasn't told about the rewards program, but that's ok. Went to Playa Bowls for the first time.. took it to go to eat in my car with my boyfriend. I open the lid, I see a lengthy hair immediately after opening the lid on top of the strawberries. I'll be honest, I try to not complain.. My boyfriend picks around where the first hair was... and after a couple scoops we find ANOTHER HAIR IN OUR FOOD. My boyfriend was already 5 minutes up the road at this point, and I didn't want to have to turn back around and complain. All the while just laughing off the fact that our order isn't ready let alone having been started. We watched at least 10 customers walk into the place whose orders they prioritized after they knew we were waiting for our order. No apology, no remorse, and naturally the smoothie was below par. Would venture to say we've spent 100 bucks here over the past few months and live within a walk of this place. Going to lose a long term customer over incompetence and lack of empathy.
