South Block is one of my favorite spots for acai bowls around the area. I can always expect to get the freshest ingredients. I usually visit one of their other locations in Falls Church and this location is definitely a lot bigger. Inside is very clean and quiet. On a weekday around 11am we were the only customers dining in. Ordering is convenient at their self service kiosk. The bowl I usually get is the Warrior Nutella Bowl. Also pictured is my cousin eating the Warrior bowl in a mini size which I realized after I got my order that I should've gotten mine in a mini because the regular size is plenty! They are very generous with their toppings but I do have to say that on this visit the berries were on the sour side and while there were a lot of toppings we both couldn't finish our bowls. read more

First time trying south block & i will admit that the pictures on other reviews had me question whether the portions were good enough but the smoothie proved to be filling. I really liked the interiors appearance. The mural on the wall adds a nice touch to the inside. Came here to pick up a protein shake. I got the cave monkey with whey protein. The shake has 20g of protein. You have a choice of whey, plant protein, or collagen for your protein 20g option. This is the absolute best smoothie bowl spot in Northern Virginia! I've been coming here for years now and it's always my go-to spot for an acai bowl or smoothie! This time I ordered one of their seasonal bowls, the Aloha Bowl. It was acai topped with pineapple, strawberries, coconut, and my absolute favorite, their homemade granola. Their granola never disappoints! It's always the perfect addition to any of their smoothie bowls, adding a subtle sweet crunch on top. The service was super fast! They have the option to order either online, on a kiosk, or with a person. Since I wanted to substitute an ingredient in the acai, I just ordered with the person, and they were easily able to do that for me at no extra charge. The only downside to the experience is the parking. The store's located in a busy spot with a few others stores and a small parking lot in front so it's pretty difficult to find a parking spot nearby. But it's not their fault it's always poppin! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to cool off from a hot summer day! So what it's been freezing the past couple of weeks. Today it's 40 degrees - a veritable heat wave!!! Time for a healthy mid-afternoon snack while running errands. This is my first visit to this store since it left Jammin' Java, and I have to say, I like it so much more. I had a chance to stop by South Block with my fiancé as her ring was getting resized from a jeweler close by. I tried the banana toast for the first time and it was immaculate. It took them a while to make. I think the restaurant was going a lot of orders at the time. There are a couple seats inside the venue so you can sit inside but they had more seating outside. I came in here for a healthy breakfast before my 12 hour work shift. They were pretty busy with three workers behind the bar mixing and pouring coffee. It took a few minutes to order. Ordering process was pretty easy with a HUGE chalk board of menu items above the cashier area that displays all the ingredients. They are a Cash ONLY shop, which makes checkout super fast! They also have options where you can order ahead; about half of the orders that came in were ordered that way. I decided to go with the Acai Warrior Bowl. It sounded great with acai berries, bananas, strawberries, and pineapple underneath. Then it was topped with bananas, strawberries, blue berries and hand made granola on the top. I added some of the chai seeds to help keep me energized! They were really busy with online orders. It took me about 20 minutes from placing my order to receiving my order. Luckily I was 1 mile from work and clocked in with 1 min to spare. I really appreciated the barista noticed I had an extended wait and she offered me an apology and a 1/2 of a smoothie promo card when she called my name to grab the order. I was shocked that she noticed me with how many orders they were all fulfilling. I will definitely be coming back to this location before my weekend shifts. The Warrior Bowl was AMAZING! Glad they decided to open a South Block a little bit closer to me (not much closer but a little). Tried my usual things like the PB&J Bowl, the Cave Monkey Smoothie, or the breakfast sandwiches. Pretty consistent with all the other South Blocks i've been too. Pickup has been pretty easy with the app so no complaints or missing orders/items. I'll definitely be back soon since its probably the best place in the area to get a smoothie/acai bowl. Also the pickup parking spots make things much easier with the pandemic going on. read more

There is a small six seat bar (I think there were 6 stools, maybe 4), first come first serve of course and a few large upscale wooden picnic style tables. There for love thy neighbor is necessary for the community style seating. Today they happened to had the place rockin with the live jams coming from the stage in Jammin Java. The staff was super friendly which matched the atmosphere. At times it was hard to hear whose name was being called over the music, the sound of the blender and the conversations taking place. The wait is a little lengthy so you have to pay attention to hear your name. If you plan on taking it to go, make sure you grab a lid, the bowl does not come with the lid on it. Make sure you sign up for their rewards program via your phone number and enter your email address once you get the text message to get email offers as well. Only down side, which is not a reflection of South Block is the parking lot on a Saturday is suck worthy. Do yourself a favor and if the lot looks full, park at Walgreen's and walk over. My friend tried the one with almond butter mixed in to it with almond milk and it was creamy and rich. I got as The Warrior which is apparently the best seller. I can see why!
