Decided to try Papa Kanafa yesterday and the kanafa was amazing! It wasn't overly sweet, and they give you attar on the side if you prefer a little extra sweetness. The kanafa was about $30 and comes as either 8 smaller pieces or 4 large pieces. Service was great! Someone ahead of us in line even went out of their way to say how much they loved it, which was reassuring. The shop is located in Falls Church, in the Trader Joe's shopping center. Went for their grand opening and the Dubai Chocolate Covered strawberries were delicious. Seeing them on the menu for almost $15 is pricey though. I also ordered a medium Royal Kunafa since their mini sizes are dine in only and medium is the minimum size for takeout. It was my first time trying Kunafa and it was good! The Kaitifi was crunchy and the cheese was perfectly melted. I did think the wait time was a little long (25 minutes) but as I understand it the Kunafa has to be made fresh. I wonder if there it a way to par melt the cheese to speed it up. Also I felt the Kunafa was pretty pricey at almost $30 for a personal pizza sized pan. It reminds me of baklava but with cheese filling instead of sweet nuts. I think this new restaurant has potential and is offering a lot of authentic middle eastern sweets, but the price point could be a little lower and they could have better descriptions for their food options and what the differences are between them for those that are less familiar with Arab and Middle Eastern food. read more

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all, which is good since I was expecting long lines. They have about 6 small round tables with chairs, but it gets very crowded inside. The tables are by where the line for ordering forms so it's not very convenient. The menu is pretty big but the "Dubai chocolate" options are not too many, maybe 6 different ones. I was surprised that some of the Dubai options were made with Nutella and not milk chocolate, that was extremely disappointing. We ordered de Dubai ice cream (soft serve) and it had Nutella instead of milk chcocolate. It was good but I was disappointed about the chocolate. We then ordered the Dubai "pancakes", sorry I can't remember the exact name, and I specifically asked for these to have milk chocolate and not Nutella. I was charged $1 extra for this even though they didn't tell me that when ordering. The pancakes were underwhelming, small portion for the price and could have used more chocolate and pistachio topping. Overall it was an average experience, pricing was too high for the portions and considering they were using Nutella which was not what I was expecting. It wasn't busy when we went at all! Only downside the parking lot is packed with Trader Joe folks, this is just a fair warning that parking can be a bit challenging to find. The location itself looks like any other trendy restaurant, so nothing to write home about but they do have decent amount of seating in my opinion. Also, we tried a drink (heart attack), it was really good! I hope to come back and try another drink as well! We got a small, which I really enjoyed since it was actually small.. I also order a Kunafa Lotus... it's quite sweet!!! Also, they didn't have it in any other sizes except one size, which I did think was a bit of a bummer considering how big it is. Now onto the flavor portion.. it was really tasty, but I couldn't and my partner eat all of it as it's incredibly sweet. The warm gooey inside was nice as I was prepared for it to be cold I guess? They get you with all the options and it looks creative and that everything would be good it's all garbage, hate to be harsh but here to tell the truth.
