Tropical Smoothie Café has a really nice range of fruity (and non fruity) choices. We opted for the Mango Monsoon and the Paradise Point. Both were size small but they were big and full of flavor. We would share and after one, I would think, this is my favorite and then I would have the other and think, no, this one is my favorite. In other words, both were really good. As someone who regularly visits this location, I will say that the consistency and quality are likely close to what the franchise standard is set as. There are times here and there where service might not be the most friendly or punctual but, given the tendency to be spot on more often than not, solicits favorable designation. Good for a healthy meal after exercising or if you're trying to watch your weight. They cycle their Uber Eats deals way too rapidly for my liking but if you should catch one at a good time, definitely make the most of it. read more

TSC smoothies have been my go-to over the years - a flavor treat. The Reston location serves up smoothies (note: TSC serves up one size only for smoothies) in the same consistent TSC style and taste as their other chain locations I've been to. I'm pressed to think of another place in Reston that serves up smoothies (not frappes like Sbux but true smoothies) for the same price, size, taste and value as TSC. Plus: since covid, they have put in precautions like requiring masks, offering hand sani, they have installed plexiglass screens at the counter and have limited the front customer area (no inside seating). Our MO has been to call in an order for pick up (they also do curbside delivery orders) right before we jump in the car to head over and our smoothies are always ready when we get there. We always order the same thing: the Jetty Punch (basically a strawberry banana smoothie) and the Tropicolada (basically a pina colada smoothie which curiously is not listed on their menu but all of the TSCs know how to make it so I just keep ordering it lol). Order mid-afternoon during their Happy Hour and get a discount on your smoothie/s (be sure to ask!). Every penny saved helps! They have some other food-smoothie combo specials posted at the ordering counter as well. Worth checking out or calling to ask. Love their Thai Chicken Wrap (prefer it not heated/warmed) - try it, so good! Since covid, the place has never been crowded, the wait in line has been minimal if any and the service is fast and efficient by friendly staff. I believe they weathered the restaurant shutdown storm so the worst seems to be over for them (fingers crossed). Bottom line: tasty smoothies, not overly priced, quick efficient service (call to order in advance!) and taking covid precautions. Checks all the boxes for me. read more

9/25/19 Returned back to Tropical Cafe Smoothie to find it pretty quiet. Saw a new face and said hello. The lady looked nervous, but it was because her English language is very limited. This is not a problem because she will master the English language and become bilingual. This will put her ahead of the game. I don't know her name, but she took my order. I forgot the word for blueberries in Spanish, but now I have all the time in the world. Next time I order I will remember the word arándanos (blueberries). I will return Friday September 27th. As I left the store with a delicious Peches N Silk with blueberries instead of bananas, I noticed the ladies preparing a large order for lunch time. Their $10 lunch menu is really a steal. And it's not available at every chain location. You basically get to choose any options from the sandwich/wrap menu, one smoothie, and any bag of chips. For smoothie I highly recommend the island green ginger detox smoothie. It's super refreshing and they sweeten it with the ginger instead of adding additional sugar. I was so happy to see that they deliver via Yelp24 with no minimum order!!! That is such a HUGE! bonus. I ordered delivery because The office was in total chaos. I'm sure you know that kind of day I'm talking about. When lunch is just not happening. It usually always happens on a day that you don't bring your lunch OF COURSE!!! Usually when in this position I opt to either starve, or order lunch for everyone because, yes I'm one of those people. (Sucka!) Most places in my area want a 25.00 min delivery order- so instead of ordering myself 25.00 worth of food- I end up ordering my team a big pizza lunch- just so I can eat. Which completely sucks because I hate eating unhealthy like that. I ordered their Avocado smoothie and some chicken flatbread sandwich, both were absolutely delish! My only slightly whiny gripe is that I wanted a salad but they all came with cheese or beans- they did not have anything on the menus besides the smoothie that was dairy free, gluten free and legume free. I'm supposed to be on a special diet and it would be nice, if they had some paleo, gluten free and dairy free options!!! If they did that would make then the total BOMB!!! I've been hesitant to try any Tropical Smoothie Cafe since their little "strawberries giving people Hepatitis A" PR nightmare. But then I just really wanted a smoothie, so I rationalized it by telling myself I'd get one that didn't have strawberries in it. So I go in and I order the peaches 'n silk smoothie, because peaches aren't strawberries and I wasn't really paying attention. But alas, this did indeed have strawberries in it, which I only realized when I looked up to read the ingredients again once it was already in my hands. I quickly freaked out and ordered a second smoothie, this time opting for the mango magic with the vitamin C immune complex boost. While the second smoothie was being made, I googled the status of the Hepatitis A thing, and the general consensus seems to be that the issue has blown over. The strawberries are safe now. So, after all was said and done, I had two smoothies to share with my fiance. They are a little expensive at almost $7 each, but they're very large, so I guess it works. The taste didn't blow me away, though. They were both pretty bitter - I get that it's supposedly all natural ingredients, but peaches/strawberries/mangoes aren't naturally bitter fruits, so I'm not sure what happened. The mango magic one was a bit more enjoyable with the creamier texture from the frozen yogurt. A friendly young man took our order ... then forgot to process it. While already 10 minutes into waiting for our smoothies a manager or owner came in. I watched him get a sandwich, make his own smoothie and then start to leave. I was with a friend I had just brought from a medical visit, who was really in need of a refreshment. Here's what got me: When I asked the other cashier where our smoothies were, the manager​ (who was leaving with his food) said, "Are you still waiting?" And then glared at the cashier ... BEFORE LEAVING! We weren't looking to be comped or anything but that told me all I needed to know about this particular franchise. How are summer workers going to care about service if managers/owners​ are too busy to work with customers? I have been here a couple times. I usually get the smoothie and 1/2 salad combo which comes with a side order of a fruit, chips, or cookie. Their salads are use fresh ingredients and taste good and my coworkers tell me that their sandwiches and flat breads are good too. The main attractions are their smoothies, which are excellent. Used the restroom while the smoothie was being prepared. Restroom was clean and plenty of both toilet paper and paper towels. No issues with the restroom at this location. I'll give it more than one star because I like the franchise, but this location's employees are clueless about what customer service means. How about a smile? How about greeting people when they walk in? I stood in front of the counter watching three employees mutter to each other...it took a good couple minutes for anyone to acknowledge me and I was the ONLY person there. I've come here before and felt almost as uncomfortable as the employees seem to be in their own skin (this wasn't the only time). I think I'll just stop even considering this location. My watermelon Mojito experience... I ordered one for the first time on 8/01 at 2pm and it was delicious!!! Just how they had described, flavorful and fresh.. I liked it so much that I asked my daughter to get me one for dinner, she went at 8:15, I got it and was hoping for the same delicious flavor but it was NOTHING like it. The watermelon smoothie didn't taste like Watermelon at all!! I'm back this morning 8/02 getting one again to see if it was the night crew, and yes, the morning smoothie is DELICIOUS!! I don't usually post negative reviews and I usually love tropical smoothie, but afraid to say that the customer service I've received at this location specifically is awful. The workers don't ask what you'd like to order, they just look at you silently and wait for you to start. If you order a meal and don't realize it comes with side(apple/chips/etc), they won't ask you what you want, but will instead throw a random item in the bag when they hand it to you. No "please", no "thank you", they just print out a receipt and hand it to you silently. Lastly, there have been multiple instances where I could tell the food wasn't prepared with fresh ingredients. If there were another tropical smoothie around I could drive an extra 5 minutes to I'd do it every time. read more
