We ordered it for takeout, and the only reason I removed a star is because it wasn't as crispy as I enjoy it, so put it into the home oven to finish, but once out it was perfect and while pricey, I'll be back the next time I have a pepperoni pie craving. read more

Probably the best pizza in the Herndon/Reston area! We can't get enough of it. 5-star (or more) for the pizza. Just be careful of recent menu changes. All salads are now "side" salad size at "full size" prices. 2 side salads now cost more than the pizza. 3-star (or less) for the salad. read more

We came to Pupatella to on National Pizza Day to try out their version of Neapolitan Style Pizza. Walking in, the atmosphere is very bright and lively with street art and color pop. Bringing a warm and inviting welcome. We were greeted immediately and asked if we wanted to dine in or take to-go. We choose to dine in. We ordered the Chorizo and the Buffalo Bianca - sub with pepperoni instead of prosciutto. My bf also ordered the Pupatella pilsner on tap. The pizza came out quick! The aroma was enticing. Very light crust with a top layer of crisp but not chewy. The center of the pie was thin and weighed down with the toppings - so you were really able to taste the flavors that you choose. I really enjoyed the White pizza Buffalo Bianca. I was not in the mood for Prosciutto, so I was really happy they were able to switch it out. My bf enjoyed the Chorizo but the fire roasted tomatoes and peppers was something he had never tried on a pizza before. We finished up the night with a pint of the stracciatella. I was biking with my family along the W&OD trail and happened to notice that Pupatella had taken over this long time vacant spot. We were hungry, and I had heard great things about their pizza from their Arlington location. They had a good space setup for outdoor seating, so we decided to eat outside. They aren't currently running full service right now, so we went inside to order our food, and then their staff graciously brought our food out to us when it was ready. We decided to go with their Margherita DOC, Mushroom White, Meatball pizzas and their Frittura sampler (basically deep fried goodness!) I enjoyed all of the pizzas, especially the meatball one. The limited service was great, although, the one pizza I wanted that has roasted corn on it was unavailable. The prices were also reasonable based on the quality of ingredients. So..tried to order a pizza via the web...but was unable to due to the website stating. That the restaurant was closed..major bummer however was able to order in the restaurant. I asked someone if they stopped taking online orders and they told me it really depends on the day. This is because they are concentrating on quality which I appreciate. I decided on the divolo which is spicy salami and mozzarella cheese with basil and tomato sauce. It took maybe about 20Mins or so.. They were doing a curbside service deal gave me a number I placed it on my windshield and then they brought it out to me. Nice and hot, cheese still gooey and melty enough for a cheese pull. Overall flavor was great nice chewy dough Salami was spicy but a bit salty, red sauce was fresh and bright. Delicious I mean definitely less soggy then my last few pizzas from Pupatella at least this one still had structure that it wasn't flopping over. I know the reston location just recently opened but I'm glad they are working out kinks I hope to frequent this location again soon since it so close by my work. I had not been here in over 6 months. What a wonderful surprise! New additions to the menu, a charming "happy hour" menu (food and drink) from 3pm-6pm, and an incredible selection from the bar. Our server (Isaiah) was delightful. He was attentive but not annoying...and a first for us: he reviewed the bill, line by line at the end of our meal. I had the meatball pizza and it was superb. My dining companion had the spinach pizza. We didn't talk while eating! The side salad is huge, share it. I noticed a chalkboard listing Lottery Bourbon offerings. The choice was mind blowing and the prices extremely reasonable. The bartender was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. We ended our meal with a shot of Pumpkincello... so flipping good... I think it would be great in a cup of hot coffee. If you are looking for a great place for superior pizza, a friendly staff and a terrific bar, please try the Reston location. Do not be put off by a previous experience you may have had. This was our first time trying the Reston location of Pupatella and we had a great time! The food was piping hot and fresh, their zucchini fries are to die for, and we enjoyed our pizzas with plenty left over to take home. I would say I'd skip the mozzarella bites (balls?) next time, they were a bit bland and forgettable, but the zucchini fries are amazing. Right off the W&OD trail- just a bike ride away! We got the chorizo, meatball and pesto. I enjoyed the crunchiness of the walnuts on the pesto pizza, but I really wish there was another (veggie?) topping to add variety to each bite. The meatball pizza had good flavor, but the ricotta overwhelmed the mozzarella. It got a bit soggy. We've tried the diavola in the past and it was too spicy to finish. Pupatella is in the former Pizza Hut location which is by the McDonalds and Taco Bell off Whiele Avenue and across from the fire station. This was our first visit. We ordered one "onion tart" and one "Caivaro" (i.e., meat lovers) pizza. With tax the bill with just over $38, plus tip. The pizza is thin crust and the topping are good, but in small pieces. My wife said it was the best pizza she had ever had. Pupatella serves Neapolitan Pizza and seems to be certified by a Neapolitan Pizza association. It was great pizza. We order 3 different types and my favorite was the artichoke and tomato although it was hard to pick a favorite. We also ordered the mozzarella balls. The mozzarella balls were a must! BLUF: tasty pies in a lively setting. Much improved food and service This restaurant came Under New Management and the new manager invited me to come back to reassess them. I'm happy to say that I found both the food and service much improved. The sauce was more flavorful and not a scant on the pizzas, and unlike the last time the crust had that nice Char on the bottom. The service was friendlier and quicker and the restaurant appeared to be more orderly and neat than it was the last time. I understand they've just opened another branch closer to me in Springfield and I'm hoping that the food there will be as good as here read more

I went there this weekend and ordered a pizza and salad. I have been to the other Pupatella locations, and the Neopolitan pizza they are famous for, which I ordered for the sit-down dinner, has been decent. However, something went very wrong on this visit. The service was mediocre at best (it was not crowded), and the pizza was completely off base--the slices tasted like cardboard and had no flavor whatsoever including the cheese and the pizza sauce Can only hope they had an off day but not planning to go back there again. read more

I said I wouldn't go back to this location, but I did since the new GM reached out to me. I was offered a free meal with some friends or family, and to let him know when I was coming in. I didn't let him know, and didn't want a free meal, I wanted to see if the customer service had improved. I went on September 2nd and can say the customer service was much improved. The young kid was very diligent. If you like Neopolitan Pizza it is good. I got two Classic, ate one there and brought one home.I don't live in Reston, but I would go again, I liked the pizza. read more

Shocked this isn't rated higher, although most complaints seem to be about delivery which I've never done. We used to live right next to a pizza place that did really good neapolitan pizzas, just moved to Reston, and the only question was whether Pupatella would be good enough to have us not drive an hour to the old place. But when we ate at Pupatella for the first time, it amazed us and we found it even better, a pretty high bar. I've had a decent number of pizzas around the DMV and Pupatella is right up there, probably top 3 in my book. Service has also been good every time we've went, staff are friendly and attentive, and I always leave super happy, it's honestly become our go-to place when we have a tough day and need some food to cheer us up, super delicious every time. read more

Based on our most recent experience, this location has improved and is on par with other Pupatellas, which have the best Neopolitan pizza in the area. I ordered fig and pig (a seasonal pizza available in the summer), which I've been waiting for since I became obsessed last summer. I'm not even going to try to make an excuse for how bad this pizza was. Despite it being ordered well in advance I had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the pizza to come out. The drive home was 8 minutes and when I opened the box the pizza was completely soggy and was not good. It literally looked like someone threw the toppings on the pizza, they weren't even scattered around to provide a good mouthful of flavor. The crust was just too much and was so soggy and thin it ripped in half. Even if you rolled the pizza up (couldn't fold it) it was mushy and gross. I rarely give 1 star reviews, but this pizza was so disappointing it blew my mind. I had heard good things about Pupatella Pizzeria from friends who went to other locations, but apparently the Reston location can use some work. read more

I've tried Pupatella from the Arlington location and when I saw they opened one up in Reston I decided to check it out. I ordered online and was given an estimated time of about 20-25 minutes. However when I got there my order wasn't ready and I still had to wait another five extra minutes. The worker gave me a number to place on my car so they could bring out my order. The employee was really nice and apologetic. +Diavola: The pizza was piping hot and fresh when I received it. I was able to enjoy the pizza shortly after picking it up but I noticed there were reheating instructions on the box. The salami was nice and salty and had a little kick to it. I was able to enjoy it on every bite. The salami was a bit *too* salty for me but husband thought it was perfect. He actually likened the thin chewy fire-crusted dough to pizza dough from Naples (although the toppings are *very* minimal there). I actually appreciate how thin the dough is but it still retains that chewy gluten-like texture, along with the slightly charred dough from the hot oven. Honestly for being a chain with "gourmet-like" pizzas, I would rate it a 4.5. Is it the best pizza out there? That's debatable. But for what it is, I would give it a solid 5. read more

I am so glad I don't have to venture to Falls Church to taste these delicious and authentic neopolitan pies! They definitely limit people inside, even when picking up or placing orders. Since we were picking up and placed our order online, they give you a number to place on the outside of your car on the windshield and they bring out your order for you! Everyone is also wearing a mask and I was pleasantly greeted at the door! For Valentine's day weekend, my husband and I got the the Meatball pizza, Diavola pizza and the Frittura sampler! I have been a big fan of pupatella! This was his first time, and obviously, he was NOT DISAPPOINTED. Just as I remember it, the crust, toppings and the oh so fresh mozzarella they use is unbeatable, buying into each slice makes me think of the next time I will be ordering from then again! The toppings are fresh, perfectly cooked, can't get over that crust, the chewy, the crunchy in all the right places. The marinara is dynamite! The beloved Neapolitan pizzeria in Arlington, VA is now open in Reston! Ordered their classic Margherita DOC and the caramelized onion tart and both were delicious! The caramelized onion tart is my new favorite. There is saltiness from the bacon bits and sweetness from the onions. Mozzarella cheese was creamy and quality. The crust is thin, soft, and chewy, just the way I like pizza crust. The website wasn't working on the day we ordered. We had to go inside, order, and return within 25 mins. The line was long but it moved quickly. Staff was friendly and efficient. Got our pizzas in no time and went home. They have outdoor seating and a fire pit which would be nice for warmer weather. This restaurant took over a taco bell and still seems to be going through some early teething problems. Firstly it's pretty cramped inside, and there isn't a lot of indoor dining space particularly when it gets busy. As you walk in the 2 restrooms are right near the front door, so now there is a queue waiting for the restrooms, a queue of people waiting to be seated/pick up orders, and staff coming and going to take orders and food to the patio, it's clearly too busy and they really need to figure out a different solution. The restrooms are dirty with no toilet paper or napkins, staff are also using these same restrooms, one staff member even jumped the queue while we were waiting, soo irritating. Food took a while to come out, we ordered 2 pizzas, margarita for the kids and a white pizza for us adults, we also ordered the capris salad which was limp and a waste of time, for $10 you get a small green salad with limp apple slices and 2 thin slices of grapefruit. We were going to order dessert but we realized we would probably be disappointed at the offering and opted to go elsewhere for dessert.
