They do shady business here. I have never used public storage for anything until about a year ago, so here's my experience so far... I store a small boat here. Originally, the monthly rate was $168 - reasonable. Within the past year, it increased to $220, then recently it increased to $306. When I contacted customer service they stated it will likely continue to increase every 6 months indefinitely. Additionally, I have had several items stolen from the boat. Each time I approached management, I was informed that the security cameras were down and was offered zero in compensation for over $1,000 in stolen items. In short, this place sucks. We have a had a unit here for 8 years. We moved to a bigger size unit in 2021. It started at $191 and is now at $433 a month ! Crazy how high it went. We decided to move out this weekend! No longer wanting to pay this ridiculous rate. When my husband and son went this morning to start taking our things out at about 7 AM. They found that someone was living in one of the units on the third floor! They said that it smelled really bad. This person was in there the entire time they were doing move out and when they went back later he was still there. My husband went to the front office when he was done moving out and let them know we are ending our time with them. He then told them that there was somebody living in a unit on the 3rd floor. Their reaction was "yes ,we know we're keeping an eye on him! He has fallen on some hard times!" It is my understanding that these are storage units, not living units. If I had gone alone by myself, I would not have appreciated finding some person living there near my unit. We will be contacting corporate about this. I made a partial payment on time leaving $40 left to pay 1 week later they nailed me to the wall with a late fee and lein fee making my minimum due 192 and informing me if i didnt pay today my unit would go to auction within 2 weeks and i would accur more fees. read more

Public Storage is a scam and they treat long time customers the worst. The longer you stay, the more they rip you off. They offer low prices in the beginning to entice customers to use their service. After six months, they keep increasing rates by around 30-45%. I started at $210 about two years ago for a 10'X15' and now my rate is $376/mo. Only solution is to rent another unit and waste a weekend moving your stuff from your old unit to your new one. Rinse and repeat every 2 years. I've been trying to contact the district manager for 7months now. About a refund that I was told I'd be getting, but ultimately the DM has control over the refund amount and is the only person within the company that can actually issue the refund. I have called the customer service number every week asking them to internal message her (since they can't give me her email policy I guess) and get her to reach out to me. 7 months!!!!! and she still hasn't made the phone call to me. At this point it's not even about the refund it's about having someone contact me to handle this issue. I'll be cancelling my contract and going else where with better customer service. Public Storage abuses good customers by jacking up their rates over two times the going rate- just because they can. - I used to like Public Storage. We've been storing some items here for a reasonable price for a few years since a family member died. We have about two more years and we should be all done with storage. We've been good customers and not caused any issues. Suddenly within the last couple of years they started to increase the rent as a rate higher than usual. It was starting to become too much. Then in March/April they increased my then $200ish a month rent to over $300. It was finally too much for us so I started looking around for other options. We have two toddlers and it's not easy for us to move everything, but it looked like we were going to have to. In searching for new locations- I found that Public Storage- my same location - was renting the same size storage unit for $200 for anyone who just walks in. No special deal. I called and asked why they raised my rent if the going rate was still $200. They told me that's just what they do and my options where to schlep my kids down there and move everything to a new unit to save $100 or to apply for a discount. So I applied for a discount and was given $91 dollars off. Still paying more than the going rate but at least we didn't have to move everything. I had a 6 month guarantee for the discount and I had a family member that was going to take some of the stuff within 6 months and I figured we could downsize after that. Well they kept messing up and charging me the higher rate and they won't refund you- you have to wait for them to credit it to the next month- but the credit doesn't actually show until your next charge so you have to "trust" them... So I was advised by their own call center staff to turn off autopay in case this happens again. Then two months later I pop on to pay my storage for July and I see suddenly my charge is well over $300 again. I thought they had just mis charged me again, but it turns out they actually raised my rent again a little more than the discount that they gave me! My unit now costs over $400!!! But the going price for my size unit has actually come down- it's now $155!! Also fun fact, you can no longer reach the call center help on the phone. You can chat or wait for a call back from someone on property. I tried for days to contact someone and ended with a late fee trying to get this fixed. As it turns out it's not a mistake and they're not going to help. They just want me to go through all the trouble of moving my stuff to another unit to receive that cheaper rate- and hey no guarantees they don't raise it the next month.... This is abusive. I'm a good customer, pay my rent, and they're just doubling my rate because they know they have me in a bad place because it's hard for us to get the time and funds to secure childcare on our few days off together each month - plus find friends or pay people to help us move to another unit. We are going to move from our unit, but to someplace else. Even staff on site couldn't understand why our rate had been doubled in just 4 months. They tried to help us but corporate wouldn't reconsider, so points for Howard who works there- he seems like a good guy he can't help it if corporate is evil. Hopefully the next place we go won't be as bad. Otherwise the place is nicely maintained and feels safe. It's too bad I no longer trust them. read more

Yelp is nothing but people giving praise in doing it with enthusiasm and being sincere and cheerful about it. Therefore I must say that my experience with the gentleman and one woman who heads up this operation his name is Lizanne of course it's a woman, was nothing but stellar professional, knowledgeable and polite. I was first greeted by a gentleman named Abdul who treated me with respect and he had been there the first time I rented a space there. As Abdul was busy on the computer assisting another customer I was referred to his associate Chad. This made me very happy because I thought Chad was the new boss man. Imagine my surprise when I found out he had only been working there just a couple of weeks. This is The quality of personnel that public storage facilities higher. People that are intelligent mature respectful and at the top of their game right when they begin the job . They know what they're doing right when they're on the floor. He assisted me with all of my needs accurately and efficiently. He showed me up to the storage unit and it was exactly what I wanted. Now keep in mind this is the third time I have been to this facility because every time I go I am treated exactly this way by every single employee. They are all knowledgeable they are all respectful they are all intelligent and they all treat people as they would treat themselves. In closing I would like to mention all of the men and women that help me that are stellar employees again Lizanne the one who leads the group she is phenomenal. Chad you don't find them any better then Chad he needs a raise please give him a raise. He will do anything for you even if he gets in trouble for it Give Abdul a very big raise and then give Chad a bigger one just kidding Abdul. Daniel was soooo helpful and friendly! I love that this location is not on a super busy street and that they offer great rates for their units (I got a climate controlled one using a special "internet" rate). Note that insurance is *required* and starts at about $11/month. The buildings are really quite secure, too. People with units in the second floor cannot access the third floor and vice/versa. Of course all of the buildings are behind a gate which requires a unique code to enter and the elevators use a code too. They also let you borrow big metal dollies on the property for free, if you let them hold your driver's license while you use it. (They're kind of like the dollies you'd see at Home Depot). The hours are reasonable too; you can access your stuff until 9pm and staff is available 7 days a week, although not quite that late. Both of the guys I talked to were great, but it was Daniel who got me all set up and answered my 1,001 questions. read more

The place I moved into doesn't have a whole lot of room for my collections of "stuff" so before moving in, I decided to shop around for a storage unit. I don't have a whole lot with no furniture to be stored. There are multiple places located near my new place so it was easy to shop around and I found that Public Storage had the best deal for the 5 X 5 unit I needed. I reserved the unit online and within the hour, I got the confirmation call from the location manager and made my appointment for 2. I got there almost an hour early but Ava, the woman who greeted me, didn't hesitate to help me. She was courteous and friendly and showed me the unit before I had to give her my payment. The unit had enough space for the items I was going to store so we headed back to the office to finish the deal. While I don't find this as a negative because I was expecting it, I am going to mention it just in case this is the first time you are renting out a storage unit... The price you are quoted online is not the price you are going to pay. There are several fees that are not mentioned initially like the lock fee and the insurance fee. Be prepared to spend more than what you are quoted if you make the reservation online. My original online quote did not include either fee and ti ended up costing me about $40 more at the location. These fees are unavoidable so be prepared. Also the insurance fee is something that is added on monthly. That being said though, the storage unit availability hours are great. Plenty of lighting everywhere, including inside the smaller unit building. Security is good with the need for a code to get to the floor of your unit along with the key. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this facility to anyone in the area. *EDIT - I am changing the rating to 3 stars because I was asked to answer a survey, write a review on Yelp, as well another site called Trustpilot. I didn't have an account for that last site but one was created for me when I submitted what I thought was just another survey. Now I have an account for some site I am never going to visit but sure as **ll will be getting emails from until the end of time because their emails don't have an unsubscribed option. Rented a top floor "climate-controlled" space. Went in late July 2018 in the middle of a heat wave, the top floor was at least 80 degrees. Either they're running the AC less to save $$, or the building's system can't handle heat. If protection from heat is your priority, look elsewhere. We're moving. BTW, all you insurance complainers: Got homeowner's/renter's insurance? Then you don't need **AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE** PS's insurance, not matter how hard they try to cram it down your throat.
