Have utilized this complex two times. For what it is worth, I like it. Whether moving or dealing with a divorce, it served its purpose well. I was able to store stuff here for a reasonable cost. The first month is a marketing thing, but I will admit that it is quite clever. Every encounter I had with employees was good. Overall I'm satisfied. Are there fancier ones? Sure. Some of them have high tech surveillance capabilities. Since I'm not storing the Hops Diamond, or millions of dollars, this one works for me. Getting in and out of the unit was quite simple. My only concern is be wary of traffic, and even more so if taking a left. People drive Guinea road as if in some sports car competition. This is a place to consider though, as I find it a decent value. read more

Public Storage on Guinea Road is clean and practically across the street from where I have lived for 19 years. Used them once for a tenant's belongings in March 2020 when she left GMU due to Covid and did not take her stuff. She had no car to drive to Texas and couldn't take her stuff on the airplane. Don't know what they charged her, but I needed to do this or put her stuff on the street for the trash man to take away or neighbors to take her stuff bc I needed to clean and find a new tenant, but did not have the heart to throw all her stuff away. Fast forward to May 2021. I am de-cluttering my home and considering whether to sell, move, continue to share and rent, etc. and am fixing up my home myself as well as paying people to help me do so. Robert, the manager, seems very nice but nervous. He works alone and has no help and it's a big place.I think he may live on the premises bc I saw a door that says private residence. From what I can tell, upper management and corporate giants making everything mechanized and self serve so they have very little labor costs and can rake in big profits. I bought a cheap 5 dollar lock from Target. It jammed. Robert refused to help me get it open, so I had to ask another customer for help! Luckily that worked and I did not have to use a hack saw from Home Depot to break my lock or call an expensive locksmith. They force you to buy insurance at $15 a month, but don't take pictures of your belongings or tell you how much the insurance is worth. Then to cancel is a big mystery that involves high tech computer skills, if it works at all. They don't tell you upfront what they are going to charge. It was $81 total for May 21-31, only 10 days, which I consider price gouging bc of the time of year, then $26 for June and then $72 for July. My stuff is not worth random pricing and I am on a budget. I only had a 4 by 8 foot storage bin. I wanted to have a yard sale, but had no help for that and would only make pennies on the dollar, so decided it's too hot and the wrong time of year. They also put my account on Auto Pay which I did not sign up for. This should be illegal. I found out late on July 3rd. So I felt compelled to spend my 4th of July holiday cleaning out my bin. I put my stuff in a public area outside, but still inside the gate. People came and took the best stuff: mirrors, pictures, a TV, Korean mink blanket in a nice hamper, etc. Then this morning, July 5, I went and put the rest by the street so people would take the rest. Not a good experience. People would be better off to donate their gently used items to a charity such as Vietnam Veterans, Goodwill or Salvation Army, or put their stuff on the curb for neighbors or passersby to take or have a yard sale if it's fall for spring. Using Public Storage just did not meet my needs at all. Best not to pay with a credit card, bc then they can force you to do Auto Pay, force you to buy insurance, etc. Pay cash, make a deal in writing, or do not use them at all! Enough said. If they make some kind of financial concession or apologize, I will let everyone know as well. read more

While the facility itself is clean and secure, my 1- star review is focused on the Public Storage company as a whole. I rented a storage unit in late December 2018 using an online promotion price that was being offered for this particular location. In late April, I was notified via a postcard in the mail and via email my monthly fee would be INCREASED 33% per month. You read that right.... 33% monthly increase after just 4 months. Unbelievable. When I signed all of the paperwork to rent this unit, I was told that there be a small increase (I was told 5%) after a year or so... so I didn't think much of it. So, with that math formula, I should expect a 132% monthly increase by year's end?? I emailed the company and received a call back from a manager from the Guinea Road facility apologizing and said her district manager said that even with the 33% increase, I was still getting a better rate than the deal that was currently being offered. Are you kidding me? That is horrible customer service -- you are actually going to mock the customer for questioning such an absurd price hike? As a customer, I feel I am between a rock and a hard place. The company will price gouge a paying customer....simply because they can. Shame on you, Public Storage. read more

The problem: storage unit light is not working. This is part of the basic service they should be providing as part of what you're paying for - utilities. The real problem: light is still not working for over the last year and a half. But public storage will be glad to continue to take your monthly payment and increase the rent in the process. Numerous efforts have been made talking with the property manager who has given every excuse as to why the light is not working - from bulb to socket to the latest - city govt is not providing electricity to our units. Problem with permit etc etc Calling customer service is also an exercise in futility as it seems the only thing they can do is pass a message along to district and regional managers. (Did this on multiple occasions) And this ends up in a black hole somewhere. No advanced notice that there would be any kind of service outage. No follow up to let you know what's being done to resolve or when items will be fixed. Basically they don't care. Expect no service other than here's a unit to put your stuff. Future and current tenets beware. read more

Their location was close, their staff professional (both when I made my reservation and when I checked in) and their facility was clean and well-kept. Their pricing is reasonable compared to other facilities. I would recommend Public Storage. read more

Unfair pricing. Beware! Once you are in they raise your rent every year even if that puts you above their market price for the same unit at the same location. Their customer service rep even admitted that unless the customer complains they keep raising rent even above their published price. If you are looking for storage rental stay away from this company. If you already rent from them check their website to see if they are ripping you off. We rented here for many years before we found this out. read more

The service was wonderful when I set up the account and moved in. I had no issues for the 3 years I had 2 units. However, I had a horrific time when I moved out and wanted to settle my account. I moved out and attempted to settle account - both times, I ended up erroneously sent to a collection agency. When I worked with the account manager, she reversed the erroneous charges, but told me the letter to the collection agency was an automatic part of the process that she could not stop. Use Public Storage with the understanding that you will probably have additional headaches and paperwork to get your account settled in a positive manner. read more

Pro: Unit was Clean. Pricing is reasonable if you can get the online rates. Con: 1. Arrived early but during open office hours to facility and office attendant was not there. Waited 45 mins with the movers I was paying by the hour until he arrived. Lost over $100 due to this wait. 2. Unit's light did not work and was given a non-committal answer on when it would be fixed. 3. Hidden service fees (lock, service activation, insurance) turned $1 advertised first month to $66. 3. Sent an email to the Regional Manager who had left his card at the front desk to be contacted and have not received a reply in over two weeks. Dont think I'd choose them again if I had the option. read more
