I had a great experience in the first half of my process with CityStash when my things were collected for storage. They weren't the most professional team, they bumbled around and were rushing, apologizing for knocking things into walls but never stopped rushing. That said, they were good, kind people and I was happy to look past a little damage-free klutziness. When it came time to have my things delivered, the situation went south quickly. At the very end, I think possibly even after my delivery window, I got a call saying they were running late and hadn't even picked up my things from the warehouse to be delivered. I had been calling the main line for updates but didn't get a call back for hours, long after they would have known they wouldn't make it within the delivery window. Again, while it was annoying and could have been handled better, these things happen and I was willing to look past it. The delivery was finally made about 7pm and the movers again arrived flustered and rushed through the process, again banging into things and dinging walls. I assured them it was no big deal and not to worry, I understood sometimes life goes wrong. Once they had finished putting everything in the house, they let me know they had misplaced the specific hardware to reassemble a major piece of bedroom furniture - dresser with attachable mirror. I was told they would collect new screws from Home Depot and see me "first thing in the morning," calling me about an hour before they arrived. The next day I waited until 11 before I began calling, again waiting hours for a callback. This is when I began to get frustrated. When the owner finally called me back around 4pm, he said to me: "I don't know who told you that or why, but that was never going to happen." After exercising a healthy dose of patience and understanding through this, I had now taken not one but two unnecessary days off of work and a snarky remark from he business owner was the last thing I wanted to hear. Two full days later, the job was complete beginning on Tuesday and ending on Friday. The owner will likely be surprised by this review, though I'm not sure why. I clearly communicated my frustrations and he took little to no responsibility for the issues, blaming everything largely on the team he had sent in. When he wasn't blaming his team, he was all but shrugging his shoulders at me. While they certainly were part of the problem, my real grievance rests with him, who handled the situation with the grace and professionalism of a kindergartner in a boardroom. I was refunded $35 for the over half of a week of inconvenience, which perhaps was more insulting than no acknowledgement at all.

A few days ago, I received a detailed email from Robert that there had been a water leak in the hallway by my unit and that I would need to come down and open it to check it out, in case of potential damage. I also needed to come to the office anyway to update some contact information. I had not talked to Robert prior to meeting him this morning but he was also very professional, courteous, informed, friendly, and attentive. I was able to get my information updated quickly and we went to check out the potential issue. Though there was no damage to my things, we did discover some pooling of water in the ceiling inside the unit. Robert suggested we relocate my unit so that my items were not damaged in case of a leak. I agreed, so he managed to find an empty unit only two over from my previous unit! We quickly finalized the paperwork and I moved the items over without any hassle. The entire process was smooth and I was in and out in an hour and a half. Even though it was unexpected, the whole situation was handled very well and I am happy. My items are in good shape and I feel secure storing my valuables at Self Storage Plus La Plata because I know they are on top of things there. Thank you all!

They had to send me a $40 check after I called them out on it. Their boss wouldn't believe me and defended them, almost to the point of scolding me for accusing them of stealing... only for their lead mover to apologize to me with a weak ass lie. Edited to elaborate, since Susan continues to be in disbelief and refuses to think it's possible her employees would do such a thing and to make all of you potential customers aware of my experience: I counted out my cash out loud maybe 3x. The lead mover saw that I had multiple $20 bills amounting to hundreds of dollars. I laid some of the $20s in piles on my vehicle dashboard and counted out the cash to the amount that I owed, rounded to the nearest $20. When I gave him the money to count, he gave a fake sigh and shook his head and said I was $40 short. I didn't believe him and asked him to count again. He said I owed $40 more. So, I gave it, but I felt lied to. After that, I still tipped them smh. I shouldn't have. He left and I recounted all my money. Now I was short $40, meaning if we subtracted what I owed to them from what I withdrew from the ATM and also subtracted the tip, I should not be missing extra $40. That's why he asked for $40 more. That doesn't make sense? When he counted the money in front of me, he never put any money in his sock. He just counted the money and looked me dead in the eyes and said I owed $40 more. I also didn't include tip until AFTER he said I owed $40 more and we settled what I owed first. Nightmare pricing scheme. Moved our furniture into storage in 2021, really affordable price for 3…read moremen, a truck, 5 hours of packing and transporting to their warehouse $1100. We only stored our large furniture, no small items. Year and half of storage we finally found a house. Decided not to pay $5,500 to move the items a few hours away. Choose to pick up our items from the warehouse and use a uhaul. Owner wanted to charge $1,800 for what would take only an hour to accomplish. This was $1,000 for them to retrieve the five crates and put them at the warehouse door, and $145 an hour for 2 of their guys to unwrap the furniture with a minimum of 5 hours charged regardless of how long it took. Picked up items, owner finally agreed to only charge for the time it actually took them to unwrap items (we loaded the trucks). Total for about 45mins of work was $1,225. Be careful about storing your items in the warehouse once they have your personal belongings you will pay 2x-5x to get them back.

Here is a summary of my experience. * The initial monthly rate for a 10x15 storage unit (2nd floor and away from the elevator) was $298.92 (January 2022). The rate when I terminated my contract - November 15, 2025 - was $435.00. CubeSmart increases their rates on a yearly basis and the increases are significant and non-negotiable. * During the recent Federal government shutdown, I contacted CubeSmart to request a deferment of a payment and they refused to cooperate. I spoke with the manager of the location where my unit was located; as well as customer service (several times); and a District Manager by the name of Michael Jones. * Payment for my unit was due on November 8th. Despite my request for the company to defer the payment due until the Federal government shutdown was resolved, I received a notice on November 14, indicating that my payment was late; a late fee had been applied to my account; my entry code was disabled and my unit was locked until I made full the payment due, in full. I terminated my contract and emptied my storage unit on November 14th and moved my belongings to one of CubeSmart's competitors. CubeSmart lost me as customer who was in good standing because they were so unbelievably unfriendly and unwilling to negotiate deferment of one monthly payment.
