I was only moving an apartment with maybe 7 large pieces of furniture, so this was considered a "small" move. However, not only did the movers put dents in my dry wall, scratch up walls, put rips in my couches, beat up all my furniture (dresser, tables, etc.), but when I reported the damage, the owner mentioned I have waived certain coverage when I NEVER even saw a contract.. I even confirmed with one of their employees that I was never sent a contract, and he said that one isnt typically needed with a "small" move. Boy, was he wrong. This was frustrating as we were moving into our first home, and now we have quite a bit of repair we need to do. If you don't mind getting your furniture and house beat up, lying from their employees, and incorrect and improper responses from the owner in a bad attempt to remedy the situation, feel free to hire them. read more

I used Campbell Moving for a local move and I couldn't be happier with the results. The four guys that were sent over (apologies if I'm butchering these names Chily, Jose, Migel? Youany?) were awesome!! They were professional, worked their rears off the entire time, took care of our possessions, and were accommodating of any instructions given. I'm a manager at a local storage facility and one of things I do is watch the cameras. I want to make sure our tenants get the best possible service not only from us, but the moving companies too, so if I see a mover not treating a tenants belongings with respect, I let the tenant and the movers team leader what witnessed. What seen from Campbells Moving was beyond great it was absolutely wonderful not only did they do a superb job for our tenant they actually picked up a broom and swept our entry way were they were working. Matt and team were hired to move a 2 bedroom apartment to another. They failed to put my year old daughter's twin size bed together and just left boards pieces on the floor without even notifying me. They claimed they "could not put it back together" when the bed has been moved previously 3 times perfectly fine before! They also had no tools and has to borrow tools from the maintenance department. Trying to support a Veteran owned company as a Veteran myself. I am highly disappointed in the customer service that was received and the lack of concern for my personal items. They clearly did not finish the job and when I called and asked what happened he hung up on me twice. I highly recommend NOT using them for any service and you will be disappointed and will be waiting your money! read more

Lenette Campbell, the owner, should be in prison. She quoted me in text message a fee 4 weeks prior to the move after spending a hour in my home that included packing, uploading, transporting and deliver all items m to my new home 10 minutes away. Sge also claimed it would take 1 day to life. She pretended she was bringing me a contract many times but never did. The first time she ever even gave me a contract was at 9pm after she uploaded my belongings in her truck (although she left all the 1st floor furniture in my old home) and she said she won't deliver them unless I agree to a higher price that was 35.% more that her original. Anyways, I called her bluff and told her the items are replaceable and I didn't need them so she dumped them on driveway threatening to take me to court, calling me a "stupid bitch" and using other abusive language to the point where I told her I'd call the police to have her removed from my property for trespassing. Lenette Campbell us a total con and scammer. DO NOT CONTACT Lenette Campbell Moving unless you want the most traumatic moving experience if your life. She has a bipolar personality. When you meet her she pretends to be easy going and accommodating, promises she doesn't upcharge like other companies and underestimates the project. We have used Campbell Moving twice now, and both times the men were kind, polite, helpful, understanding, quick, and cared with our items. The first time we moved out of our home to storage, an apartment, and our elderly parents home. They were INCREDIBLY accommodating and facilitated every aspect to the three destinations we were moving. This time, we needed something brought from our storage to one of those destinations and then to reorganize our storage unit for better access to the items that needed to be accessible seasonally. Con artist. Paul gave us an estimate via FaceTime. The truck wasn't even big enough to haul everything. We had to use our own vehicle to move a few things. My wife labeled where all boxes should go. They didn't put the boxes in the right rooms. On top of that, he ended up charging me almost $1000 more than the original estimate because it took longer than estimated. Guess what? That's not my problem. Don't do estimates via FaceTime. That was Paul's fault. I shouldn't have had to pay a penny extra. The workers did work very hard and I gave them a very generous tip despite the additional charge. I could tell it was more than they usually get. They were very appreciative. It's been almost 7 months since my review and I recall what happened because it made me quite upset. The items that were called cheap were my couch and the lamps I was going to take myself - all items we kept. The items that were asked to be thrown out were a broken down dresser, an old toy kitchen and a mattress. I asked if they could throw those items out at the dumpster located on my street and I more than appreciated that they did so. Having the one person I said I liked call me after I left my initial review wasn't going to change what happened. The crew leader may be highly reviewed by customers that weren't talked about in their homes. We just moved from Herndon VA to Pittsburgh PA and our experience with Campbell Moving in Fairfax County was definitely praise-worthy. I was impressed with each and every person with whom I interacted. These guys are real pros! I decided to hire Bill Campbell and his moving crew after hearing a recommendation about their services from a friend who had just worked with them for her move. She said that they worked fast, took charge of her move, and that their cost was very reasonable. I did a bit of research, called the company and decided to get an estimate. Bill came over a few weeks before the move with a folder that included a moving day checklist and a line by line estimate showing how the estimate was calculated. We walked through my previous home room by room to discuss my move and Bill gave his opinion on what I ought to move myself (for example my son has hanging airplanes in his room that are fragile and would break easily) and what the movers would move (boxed items and our furniture). Bill also gave me tips on how to save money on this move: pack as much as we could ourselves and to move picture frames and lamps ourselves. I took his advice and set out to pack and set aside what I would need to move on our moving day. On the day of our move, our crew arrived fifteen minutes early and got to work. They laid down protective fabric over our hardwood floors and got to work hauling boxes and furniture. Three and a half hours later we were on our way out to our new home. Junior, my crew's foreman, asked me to give the crew a tour of the house to find out where boxes and furniture would go. I had numbered and labeled my boxes. I have to say that when I started unpacking, almost every box and item of furniture was placed in the right spot. I also liked that the crew took special care moving our furniture and boxes into our new house on our brand new hardwood floors. Not a single scratch. When it came time to make our final payment, I was extremely happy that all of our preparation and hard work with packing had paid off. The fee was very reasonable and because my husband and I were so happy with how competent and friendly the crew was I tipped big. I am so glad my friend recommended Campbell Moving. I found Campbell Moving at the last minute through Yelp for my move to a new apartment. Campbell was prompt in their response, professional, and offered a very reasonable rate compared to others. The two movers that showed up were on time (actually arrived 10 mins early), and completed our move within the established timeframe. I just completed what is now my *FIFTH* move with Campbell since 1999 today (8/3/2011), and these guys are a class act. They charged me $150 an hour for a team of three guys. It was obvious to me from the minute they arrived that these guys were absolute pros. The office team called me before the move to make sure everything was ok and to make sure I would be aware that they had wardrobe boxes that I could use. This morning, the truck arrived early, even calling me 15 minutes before they arrived to let me know they were coming and then promptly got to work. I was moving from a 4-story townhouse in Herndon to a single family in Sterling. During the entirety of the move, they constantly asked me if the way they were doing things was acceptable, where things would be going in the new house, and kept me fully in the loop with everything they were doing. They immediately brought any pre-existing damages to my attention (I had a lamp that was broken, for instance) to make sure we were in agreement about them and then packed everything in a manner that would've been suitable for a cross-country move. These guys never slowed down during the entire move, even with the extreme heat and humidity, never complained once and even managed to get a massive steel-framed bed that weighs nearly 300 pounds up a very tight set up stairs. Not a single item was damaged, not a single wall was scuffed, and I genuinely cannot find a complaint to offer up about the experience. I would use these guys again in a HEARTBEAT. I really have to question some of the other reviews on here about these guys - I've literally been using Bill and his guys for over a decade - I can't comprehend the vitriol of them at all. As for the anonymous reviewer - 17 of 21 reviews this person has posted have 1 star. Anyone who posts THAT many nasty reviews behind an anonymous account completely makes me wonder what their motives are. I for one have no problems standing behind my reviews. read more

My wife and I are very, very happy with our recent experience with Campbell Moving and Storage! Having lived in the same home in Springfield, VA for the past 20+ years, we were really "out of touch" as to what moving our household goods entailed -- although we had done eight (8) military moves from 1978 to 1995. I'd have to say that Campbell Moving exceeded our expectations in every way! The total price was the lowest of the three competitors from whom we had received an estimate. The packing crew was professional, polite, thankful (we provided lunch and beverages), and efficient; and the moving crew (who came the next day) was equally so. We'd particularly note how well they protected our home floors (on both ends of the move) with rubberized matting, and how carefully they wrapped our furniture with padding and plastic wrap -- none of which left any residue. Also, we [emphasis] forgot to post a sign on a large oak desk (that we had sold to our new homeowners) that it should NOT be moved -- and when we discovered that it had been packed onto the van, the foreman (José) cheerfully had the desk "retrieved" without complaining (even though he and the crew needed to substantially unload the crate in which it had been placed). Upon moving from Springfield on 22 June, our household goods (which had been packed into wooden crates) was moved into a local (Northern Virginia), climate-controlled facility for exactly one month -- with delivery to Chesapeake (180 miles south) on 21 July. The foreman (José) and several of the hard-working packing-crew members were the same ones who moved us from Springfield -- and the move-in process was smooth and efficient. We unhesitatingly recommend Campbell Moving and Storage for those in the National Capital Region -- including those (like us) who are venturing to South Hampton Roads! read more

Slow, difficult, expensive. The first error they made was doing the estimate over the phone. The plan was that they would show up on Friday, allowing a holiday weekend to do the move. So, 9 AM Friday, they show up. The first thing they say is that the cost will be double what they said. Not seeing any other option, I agree to pay double. They start. By three PM, they have carried one load with one truck. Another half load remained. They then decide that they've earned enough money for one day, and quit for the day. They were unclear as to when they would return. It was the following Tuesday. They tried to charge triple their original estimate, but settled on double. Needless to say, my plan to unpack over the weekend was not in sync with the business practices of this firm. I'd estimate they took 110 hours from starting on Friday to finishing on Tuesday. I've moved twice, since. I did not entertain any bid from this firm. Instead, I rented a truck, a better truck than any of theirs, and hired labor directly at the local labor pool. The cost was much less, probably a quarter of what Bill C. charges, and the result much more under my control. My impression of the business is that it was one guy who owned three old trucks. He was nice over the phone, then changed his tune on move day, leaving you with an unsupervised crew of street labor, working at their leisure. read more

First off, i was not all the way packed and did't have it all together but the movers continued to move as i was able to finish my pack and made sure I was moved and everything before my estimate amount was completed.I actually saved money!! BEWARE - Dishonest and Harassing Moving Company! Move from Alexandria to Centreville I called Campbell Moving on November 6th and spoke to Paul Hawkins - Moving consultant. I asked them to give me a quote on moving our household goods on November 17th. I requested that someone from Campbell Moving come out to our residence and give us a quote to move our household goods. I told him I had another quote from Interstate Moving but would like to get an estimate from Campbell as well. Mr. Hawkins asked me to give him the moving list from Interstate. I sent him the list and again requested that they come out to ensure they could confidently move our belongs for the price quoted. Mr. Hawkins stated that the list from Interstate was all he needed to confidently give me a quote. Campbell's quote was $1,300 less than Interstate's quote. When I received the quote from Mr. Hawkins, I questioned how Campbell Moving could do the move for so much less and once again implored him to physically come look at our belongs, stressing that we do have many large, antique pieces and a lot of outdoor furniture and planters. I wanted to be 100% sure that his company could move us for the quote of $2,100 in one day, with 2 trucks and 4 men. Again, Mr. Hawkins assured me they had done moves like this many times, all his men were full time employees, and he guaranteed me there would be no issues with our move. I then asked him for a binding quote for the move. He said they only gave nonbinding quotes for moves. I called him and for the 4th time asked that he, or another representative from Campbell Moving, come by the house to double check our goods and ensure the quote, number of trucks, men and timing were absolutely doable. He stated he was out of town but was 100% confident in his company's ability to move our belongs at the quoted price, with the number of trucks and men in one day. I should have backed out of the move with Campbell Moving company at this point! Moving Day - turned into 2 moving day(s): One truck showed up with 2 men at first, then a smaller truck showed up later. When the movers entered the house, they began discussing how they didn't feel like this move could be done in the allotted time, with allotted trucks and men. I questioned them after over hearing them. They stopped talking within earshot. I called Mr. Hawkins and expressed my concerns. He said there would not be an issue. The trucks were soon filled to their maximum capacity and we still had plenty of furniture that would not fit. We were told that Campbell Moving would send a big moving truck back to the house on Saturday morning and pick everything else up. The 2 trucks got to the new house in Centreville around 7:30pm. The move on Friday, Nov 17th lasted until 1am the following morning. We had the majority of the boxes labeled with numbers that corresponded to a map/layout of the new house. We explained to the movers how the numbers corresponded to the map. They all said they understood the map and how it corresponded to the numbers on the boxes and furniture. Furniture and boxes were shoved in the wrong rooms or in the garage. We had several pieces that were missing or damaged. A glass table was broken, and the glass was then stashed behind several large picture frames in the basement to hide it. We didn't find it until a few weeks later. One of our antique hall trees pieces was broken at the top. Our Master Bedroom dresser has been damaged on the top from the mover's tape. Nothing was said by the movers about the damage to any items. We wrote a check for $3,470.00 Friday night - the guy in charge said he had to collect the payment, or he could not release our goods that were sitting on the truck. He was holding our household goods hostage! The guys who showed up on Saturday were not full time Campbell employees - they were literally "3 guys with a pickup truck and a horse trailer". Much of our outdoor furniture/planters did not get moved. We paid the guy with the pickup and horse trailer $975.00 on Saturday. The total ($4,445.00) was more the twice what I was quoted by Mr. Hawkins ($2,100). I called Mr. Campbell directly on Monday and explained the debacle over the weekend. Mr. Campbell then began using verbally abusive language telling me that our house had not been packed up properly and there was a lot more items than what was listed on the Interstate moving quote. I again stated that this is precisely why I asked Mr. Hawkins on 4 occasions to come see for himself so we didn't end up in this situation. He again started yelling that his movers did a decent job and that I should just pay because he was a veteran owned business that was barely getting by and his guys had to be paid. I told him I AM also a Veteran and own a reputable Woman-owned service disabled veteran business. However, I don't lie and cheat my clients. The estimate to move us was 3000 dollars less ( and we ended up moving some stuff that was originally meant to move with them at time of estimate) than we ended up paying. And never a follow up call to check on service. We budgeted 7300 for our move and we payed 10500. That is not a walk in the park! And not one follow up call. read more

Beware buyers!!! I moved all over the United States and beyond and have never had a move like this one. I have had designers handbags removed from boxes my husband and I packed. We took pictures of all of the handbags so I not only know they were stolen but I know which ones were stolen. I called immediately and spoke to Matt Campbell he asked that I send him the pictures which I did. Gold flateware was gone out of boxes that my husband and I packed. My Schonbek chandelier crystals are also gone. This chandelier is a numbered piece. I packed those myself with bubble wrap, very carefully. I had silk scarves bought overseas - gone. I filed a police report. Because Campbell has never acted on my calls. I am xploring other options. They sent me an unsigned draft letter offering $500.00 asking us to settle. They acted as if to say this is what you get in a move - they were not at all apologeti or helpful. I know the name of the driver and he had my personal goods on the truck overnight. Even Matt Campbell said he never trusted this driver, he was sleazy. That was said by the owners son. Do your homework and please listen as I am warning you so this doesn't happen to you. read more

BEST MOVE EXPERIENCE EVER. They showed up on time, and the guys were mighty men! Unbelievably strong and careful. They filled the 42' truck, but there was still stuff left.... SO, 2 days later, I had them send out another truck. 36' this time. They didn't get to fill it, but simply ran out of time. A different set of VERY HARD WORKERS. AWESOME. The care they took was wonderful. NOTHING was broken, scratched, dented, etc in either move. I just wish I'd gotten them to come back for the 3rd time, as the movers I had come in today were awful...
