BEWARE!!! My family and I have used mg moving four times in the past 5 years or so. This would be our last move with them. Misquoted by about double the price, the first crew lead person was rude and damaged our furniture, their insurance policy is trash- you have to copay and has a damage minimum so if your small things get damaged- no luck. The misquoting was off by about $5000, this included the misquote on storage prices. The poc for the moves was non communicative and hard to reach. MG Moving Services did a great job with my move from Northern Virginia to Chicago. They did a scheduled and timely pick up and dropped off just 5 days later. Both the pick up and drop off crews were very professional, careful with my belongings and efficient in their performance. My belongings arrived without a scratch and all items that required protection were well taken care of - e.g., wooden book shelf, TV, glass coffee table. They did a thorough inventory and nothing was missing. I had a small misunderstanding with my coordinator regarding how my load would be handled - e.g. shuttle service vs direct shipment - but MG provided me with an accommodation which I was comfortable with. I would encourage further training and having all questions and answers regarding the service documented via email or in the contract itself. Moving is expensive, so I'm not going to speak on price, as most competitors were within $500-$800, but for the quality of the service and the speed of the shipment MG was worth the added expense. I give MG 4.5 stars and I'd gladly use them again. read more

Moving is stressful! After searching everywhere for quality movers to move me across several states after 26 years in my home, I'm so glad I met Manny and his team with MG Moving. These guys were absolutely incredible. They were super efficient and careful with all my items. They were also very positive and helped me finalize wrapping some items I wasn't sure how to move carefully. At one point Manny even gave me a pep talk about handling the stress! A couple days later the team met me at my arrival location (this was so helpful to have the same crew). I decided to work with MG because I was fooled by reviews and recommendations. I started by having my fragile items packed first and put into storage as I was preparing to sell my house. I paid extra for insurance that was supposed to cover this first stage of my move as well as the second stage. I was told everything would arrive at my new home at the same time. The reality is much of the packing done by the company was careless. My furniture was damaged and not everything arrived the same day. The first things packed and put into storage arrived about a week after everything else. When I tried to file the insurance claim the website did not work. I submitted pictures of damages, the error messages I received from the website, and an explanation of the damaged items. I was told to resubmit on the website without the pictures and when it was received they would ask me for pictures. When I followed their instructions, what they did was tell me they would not cover any damages because by then I was too late. If you trust your valuable belongings to this company be aware many many things are likely to come back damaged and they don't honor the insurance they sell. read more

If you need a moving company, this is not the one! Here's my story. They quoted us a price from the beginning. When they started off going to my mother-in-law's house to pick up some furniture before coming to our house, they are two hours late. It is only a 15 minute drive from her house to ours. They were an hour half late when I called they were having lunch and I don't know what else they did, but they were late so, more or less we were paying for them to have lunch. Once they got to our house, they were supposed to be two trucks. One truck showed up with two people. They were just lollygagging until the Next truck came I said. y'all need to get started and they said yeah but they didn't get started so here comes the other truck that was late. Then they all started goofing off, so there is more time Be wasted. They were doing drugs and they kept going into the front of the truck then coming back out smelling like weed and it was very strong so they're bringing that smell into our old house house. This is probably why they were late because they were doing drugs and they were probably stoned. One of the guys smoked a cigarette.Some of the guys were banging the dolly against our wood steps. They were lollygagging so much that my husband and I started helping them load the truck. We have to pay a fortune for them sitting on their tail.So the drive from my old house to the new house is one hour they were very very late getting to our new house. They said they got lost so when they got there , they're bringing all the furniture into our house and one guy broke our kitchen table. We had two friends helping total of four of us helping the so we're not wasting time and get this job done. The job was supposed to be like eight but it ended up being 12 hours. I'm exhausted my husband's exhausted. It is 11:30 pm. They showed me a new price which was like over $2000. I said I don't have that that's not what was quoted to me. They said they were there longer. So the person I spoke with on the phone said we will take care of this on Monday. We spoke to the person on Monday where they took a little bit of money off but it was still over $2000 over. So we had to pay an extra four hours for them getting lost and We filed a claim on our table. The table was a very nice table and they only wanted to give us $90 with $100 deductible. They waived the hundred dollar deductible. When they finally came up with a price it was still over than what was quoted to us. My husband and I didn't want to pay until they took care of our table, but they said they can't move forward unless they get payment so we ended up sending them a cashiers check. We are very disappointed in this company. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Despite having the estimator at my home twice to evaluate my weight, and being assured that packing materials were included in the price, I was charged nearly 20% more for "additional" for materials! Prices were already well above market average due to a promise of "White Glove" service. -Once they have your household goods you must pay in order to accept delivery. -When I pointed out damage to the crew chief he stated that "the damage was there at pickup" despite him not being there at pickup. Yes, the damage was indicated on the documents; documents he completed and provided a copy after delivery! I filed a claim and this is what their response was. Dear Ms. Bacot, We have completed our investigation of your claim for the damaged items. You selected the limited liability valuation for your relocation, and with this option, your coverage is limited to .60 per pound, per article and no more than $50.00 per article. Loss or damage claims under this option are settled based on the weight (in pounds) of the article. There is a $100.00 deductible for this coverage. Based on the contractual agreement under which your move took place, we would usually find that we are unable to offer any compensation, as the weighted cost of these items is less than the deductible. Sideboards of Bed:         $48.00 (Estimated weight 80lbs) Rug:                      $27.00 (Estimated weight 45lbs) However, as a goodwill gesture, I will waive the deductible for this coverage. We find our liability to be $75.00 We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing us to handle your relocation and we apologize that the relocation of household goods seemed to not take place without incident. We used MG Moving and Storage for a move from Alexandria, VA to just outside of Richmond, VA. It always feels like somewhat of a crapshoot choosing a moving company, but we were 100% pleased with MG! The 5-person crew arrived at 8:30am, added floor and wall protection and started moving everything. We were told that the crew can work a maximum of 14 hours in a day, so we weren't sure if this might turn into a 2-day move. After packing everything up, they grabbed some lunch and headed south. The condo we moved into is on the 3rd and 4th floor of a 4 level unit, and although we have a (very!) small elevator which was helpful with some boxes, the crew carried probably 75% of our stuff up the stairs. Amazingly, they finished unloading by 8:30pm and headed back to Alexandria. These guys worked so hard, were pleasant and worked together well. read more

Move happened in October of 2024- Movers were complaining the entire time, even tried to talk me out of putting boxes where I wanted them. For instance if it went upstairs, they would try to talk me into leaving it in garage or in hallway. One mover would ask me to come inside to look at something, another mover got mad at me for leaving the garage and came and confronted me over it. It was discussed prior to move, that movers would move washer and dyer to basement in new house, when movers were there that day, they refused and said it was too heavy and they didn't want to take it down steps. Custom table was scratched, movers placed packaging tape on all surfaces, which ended up ruining several items. Office desk is cracked and falling apart now, multiple missing items: cooler, 4 ft tall nut cracker(passed down), boxes of Christmas decor. Filed a claim, was told I could receive $250 on a $6,000 move. Would not recommend, worst experience with "professional" movers. read more

My Guys did a terrific job moving us from a three story house in Manassas to an apartment in Woodleigh Chase in Fairfax. Four crew members arrived with a truck on time around 8am and the lead walked throughout the house with us to see everything they would be moving while the crew laid down prote lion on the floors and stairs. All furniture was encased in blankets and delicate items got special protection. Clothes on hangers went in wardrobe boxes, so no need for us to pack them. The crew worked quickly but safely and took into account all special instuctions we gave them. The liading was completed faster than estimated so they were able to request an earlier move in window with the elevators a our new apartment. They quickly moved furniture and boxes into the locations we directed and immediately set out of re erect furniture like beds and table legs an even put together for us a computer desk we had purchased that was a box of parts when they moved it! MG movers proce was very reasonable for all the work they did and nothing was damaged or lost in the process. They are highly recommended by me. read more

Thought with reviews this moving company would be a good choice. The move was only 4 bldgs down in the same complex. I had no living room or dining room furniture, only a bedroom set, office furniture and boxes. The quote was fair and thought the job would not take long as I hired 3 guys. They arrived at 8:15 figured they be done by 12noon. For some reason, they didn't finish until after 2:00pm. I was charged $400 more than quoted and probably would have been more if I didn't have to get firm with to speed this up! They reaked of weed which may have caused a timing issue . They unnecessarily took apart furniture they couldn't put back together. A week later, I have dresser drawers sitting on my bedroom floor. Previous movers never removed dresser drawers. They literally took apart the lamps and bookshelves they did not put back together. I am left to hire (at more cost) a handyman to repair and put back together the items they destroyed. They broke pieces off the slider track trying to force the dresser drawers in and out. Mind you I was only moving 4 buildings down in the same community and this move cost me $1400+! We had Gary, Orlando and Raymond on the unloading crew and they fast, polite, thorough and efficient. They were very careful with our wood floors and all entry ways were padded. Also, I look for little signs that most people wouldn't notice. The driver of the 57' truck had more than 30 years' experience and is a CDL instructor. The tires on the truck all looked brand new and had full treads. I not only feel comfortable having My Guys as my movers but also having them next to me on the highway.
