We hired Lamont based on a recommendation from a more reputable moving company. Unfortunately, they did not live up to their reputation. We had boxes that were clearly marked to be placed in the bedroom that were only placed in the downstairs. Thus, we ended up having to move all these boxes ourselves. We asked them to assemble our relatively simple bed frame. They told us that it was "too complicated". All said, they did half of a job in an hour and charged us for the full two hour minimum. When we asked for a 50 percent refund, they declined to provide it, although they claimed "they stand by their work". read more

Outstanding!! From start to finish, Lamont was active and involved with my move plans. I will use him again and have already recommended him to several people and will continue to do so. He showed up on time, introduced me to his guys and we got started. Since this was a move from one condo to another in the same building, I first showed them where we were moving to and then my unit where the furniture and rest of the boxes were. They then got to work immediately. They completed my entire move in just under 2 hours. I was moving from a 2 bedroom unit to the same, but with much more space. Lamont small moves is the perfect, affordable solution for smaller moves. I had to move from one unit to another in the same building and they helped to get the job done. From the start I corresponded directly with the owner over email and he was very responsive and answered all my questions. On the day of the move the owner himself and an assistant showed up on time, were professional, and took care to place items exactly where I wanted. As a bonus, the owner agreed to come back another day to help mount my tv to the wall, again for a very affordable rate. Great movers! I hired a 2 man crew for 2 hours and they were quick and efficient. You must hire at at least a 2 hour minimum with an additional cost for any time over 2 hours. That being said, Lamont and his crew completed loading my vehicle in under 2 hours. The team was efficient and knew their stuff! I recommend. He has an amazing spatial sense and was highly efficient moving our furniture within our house when some of our floors were being redone (and then moved it all back). I've moved 7 times in the last 10 years, and have hired movers for 5 of those moves, often with different crews doing the loading and unloading. As a consequence, I have a fair bit of experience with crews. While many outfits have 5 star reviews, it is rare that they actually provide five star service. Lamont did, from start to finish: -communication from the jump was very good. From the initial contact (which we did all via email), Lamont was responsive and answered all of my many questions. He was very pleasant to deal with, and confirmed the move the day before. -day of: movers arrived on time, ready to go. No complaining, from any of them. They were extremely polite and Covid-compliant (masking the whole time, despite the heat). And they listened carefully, making sure to place items where I requested in the house. -a separate word about care: Lamont and his crew took the utmost care with my things. They were extremely careful unloading the truck, and with every single item that went into the house--whether the item was heavy or light. I was initially worried because we have a few heavy items, including a large, unwieldy antique chest and a large, heavy, motorized sit/stand desk. They had no problems navigating both items up the stairs. They also took care going down some very narrow basement steps. I have never felt more comfortable with a moving crew handling my things. -payment was a breeze, and they were very transparent about both payment methods and accurate with respect to the quote. Lamont and his team are the best moving crew you can ever have. They were punctual, diligent and experienced in moving things around ensuring your stuff is given the best care. He had been busy with customers but stayed responsive even when I contacted him about the potential snow at 11PM before the moving day. I heard from friends that many moving companies would act slowly so that they can charge you more based on hours spent. But Lamont's team was so efficient and was working non-stop as soon as they arrived. I found Lamont through Yelp because we needed help moving a sofa up one level and a loveseat down one level. Lamont responded very quickly to my inquiry and made himself available the next day! I'm very indecisive, about everything, including moving services apparently. I had been getting quotes for weeks and found Lamont literally 4 days before I was set to move out of my apartment. Lamont and his associate Matt - - were wonderful. If you are ready for them (packed - boxes ready) - they will deliver a great and timely service. We used Lamont's Small Moves for indeed that "a small move from one apartment to another within the same complex" - -however it is still a move. We were responsible for renting the truck (we selected Uhaul) but they provided the assistance where we needed it most; the big, akward pieces (and sometimes heavy). The service was a two hour minium - -we did it in three - but my back is all the better for it. Plus we were ready for them. (They explained they can help you pack - but you will pay more for the labor.) They were also happy for my brother-in-law and I to help carry back/forth from the truck - but we let them orchestra the effective packing. Since it was not a distance move we could be a little more flexible and took two trips. We originally selected Lamont's based on relative location to us - but are happy to share this review with you - - you will not be disappointed.
