Listening to R.E.S.P.E.C.T and eating this amazingly good Reuben sandwich just took me back to my experiences at the diners in New Jersey. My kids are bopping to their heads to the songs and telling me how much they enjoy eating here. Surprisingly this is my first time eating at this diner. They have had multiple awards through the years of having the best waffles, breakfast and burgers. Not only is this place great for families.. but kids eat free with every adult only for dining in. "One free kids meal off of kid's menu per $7.99 spent on adult entree for kids 10 and under. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.. The menu can be scanned with the QR code at your table. They also serve paper menu to abide by covid cleanliness regulations. They all are wearing masks and they close some tables due to social distancing. Honestly as far as food goes, my children ate all their food and I killed my Reuben Sandwich. They have real corned beef that has been shredded thick along with thousand island dressing and sauerkraut. They did not skimp on the corned beef.. and luckily I'm so happy it wasn't the corned beef sandwich slices. It was surely filling and delicious!! My sons got the potato and egg kids meal and the hamburger meal. For $5.00 kids meal.. I wouldn't mind getting them meals here again knowing it isn't breaking the bank. Ventured here with the family for Sunday breakfast. Pretty popular place there were people pulling up and waiting. There was a wait of about 30 minutes for a party of 4. We added our name to the list and had to wait in the car due to social distancing. They took our phone number and gave us a call when we were seated. Our server never gave us her name but she was very friendly. Kids eat free for each adult entree. The Hubbs and I had the French toast combo with an added side of home fries. I love potatoes. If you are looking for home fries(the cubed kind) these aren't it. The kids both had silver dollar pancakes and I added a side of bacon. Came in for breakfast. Ordered the hangover skillet and it was kind of disappointing. You hear skillet you have expectations of a hot plate. The food was bland. Service was solid. We went here for breakfast. It was very good breakfast fare. I had the southwest omelette. Both eggs were fluffy and there were plenty of fillings including the sausage. It was slightly spicy as you would expect. Generally it was a very good omelette. I also had a side of bacon which was also very good. I skip the toast and potato side because I stay low carb. They gave me fruit instead. I was pleasantly surprised because they gave me strawberries instead of the dreaded melon that most places serve as fruit. My sons both got pancakes. They were very good according to them and came with powdered sugar. My 7 year old ate for free which was a nice bonus. Went for dinner. This is old style diner food. Its ok and you can get a beer, or breakfast cocktail. We got chicken fried steak mashed potatoes and onion rings. Mmm... diner. Generally, the best options for breakfast and as it was 7:30 in the morning, breakfast is what it was going to be. I chose the corned beef hash and eggs, which arrived with a very big portion of corned beef hash that was more corned beef than hash. Poached eggs that were perfectly soft after I carefully scooped them from the bowls so as to avoid spilling water on my home fries. Service was great. I sat there for a good half hour poking away on my laptop (writing Yelp reviews, if you must know) while my waitress refilled my coffee cup to the point where I couldn't type from too much caffeine. First time here. An extensive breakfast and lunch type menu. Fabulous service from Natalie. Good sized portions with all of our food being served at proper temperatures. The she crab soup was very good. The Alabama Chicken Sammich was fantastic. My husband enjoyed his burger and fries as well. Finishing off with a freshly made coffee and blueberry bread pudding made us believers and we plan to return with friends and family. We happened upon this diner and we couldn't have been happier. I noshed of a very well made chicken salad sammy that contained lots of white meat chicken chunks, red grapes and pecans. The French fries were cooked just right for shoestrings. The were nicely salted and hot. It was a good meal, but nothing that made more of a memory. read more

Came here on a whim with some friends after a car meet. It's located in the Greenibrier part of Chesapeake, so there's plenty of other choices for food in and around the area. We didn't wait too long to be seated which is a great surprise since it was during a holiday weekend. We ended up here for our brunch since the original place we wanted to try out was closed due to a death in a family and it was a small Mom and Pop place in Chesapeake. Oh well, next time. The chicken biscuit looked like it was homemade, Son ordered the Pop's waffle combo with scrambled eggs and he enjoyed his meal. Pops Diner is known for there good breakfast and sandwiches. This restaurant is conveniently located to everything, close to the interstate, hotels, banks, shopping center, and even a mall. Whenever I'm in the mood of having breakfast in the morning before work, I come here. I usually give them a call and put an order in for pick up, which takes a good 10-15 minutes to fix up. I order the Pop's Special which comes with either two strips of Applewood smoked bacon, two sausage links, or two turkey patties with two eggs (cooked your way), toast (white or wheat), and a choice of Pop's Home Fries, Grits or Fruits... I have tried their bacon and sausage links which were delicious, and their Pop's Home Fries are bomb (greasy but oh so good.) $7.49 Overall, portions are huge that sometimes I still have left overs for lunch haha.
