Ended up here after a recommendation from someone on a late night when everything else was closed. Make sure to bring your ID because they do check it when entering. We sat ourselves, and a waiter came over to greet and bring us menus. There were tons of different versions of French dip, and lots of their menu items seemed to have Asian influence. we ordered the Karaage, the Saigon, and crispy potatoes. Everything came out super hot and fresh. The Karaage was like thin chicken strips with a batter with subtle Asian flavors (ginger/garlic). The crispy potatoes were VERY crispy- to the point that they were a bit overdone. The Saigon had flavors of a banh mi but with beef. It was an odd combination and I felt like the potion of meat was lacking but the Sandwich still tasted great. The jalapeños added a pretty spicy kick so keep that in mind if you don't like that hotness. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and the ambiance was very laid back and chill.

We stopped here after our concert to wait for the uber prices to go down and grabbed a bite to eat. It was relatively busy but they still got us sat. I had the gluten free mushroom dip sandwich (vegetarian option of a beef dip) . It was sooooo tasty and since I can't eat red meat I was so happy to finally have something comparable! The cocktails had fun names as well. There was a Photo Booth too which was a pleasant surprise. Even though they were very busy the service didn't suffer at all. They were on top of it and very friendly.

My group of friends decided to try Pony Up after a Friday afternoon Pilates class and I'm so glad we do. When it was originally explained as a French dip restaurant, I'll admit I was skeptical but I'm very happy to say that I was wrong. This place is truly great. I ordered the alameda street and I feel confident saying I've never had a better French dip. The bread was perfectly fluffy and the flavors were seriously surprising. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and just thinking about them again is making my mouth water. The interior of the space was super vibey with disco balls and fun art. Def downtown vibes. Parking was not ideal, but it never is downtown. I ended up at a meter a couple blocks down which was totally fine. I love how meters allow you to pay by phone now and text you when your time is almost up.

Nice spot in Denver that hits a good combo of: good food, good cocktail selection, and good beer list. A jack of all trades that pulls it off! We came here after a big event and it was festive around the holidays. A gigantic Christmas tree set the vibe, and it wasn't too loud in here on what was apparently angsty 90's music night. The chips and queso were money. I wasn't super hungry but it paired well with some late night drinks. Others in the group got pickle beer, negronis, and I had some kind of fancy cocktail that I can't remember what was in it, only that it tasted good. Good spot overall!

Going to event at Summit and stopped by for early bite in the evening. Quiet given early hour and middle of the week - subtle ambiance with easy seats looking both outside or at the many large screens situated throughout. Wonderful French dips - frenchie and Saigon, as well as veggie wrap with fries a signature component. Excellent tastes with a large selection of alcohol and mocktails. Won't go wrong here.

Happy hour menu

Pony Up is a new find for me in Denver. Their happy hour is great - the Boulevardier for only $8 is an absolute steal, and they make it really well. The chips and queso blanco on the HH menu are super tasty too, perfect for snacking while you work through the cocktail list. But the standout for me is their lineup of French Dip sandwiches. They have several different takes on the classic, and although I've only tried one, they all look interesting and seriously delicious. It's fun to have a place that treats a simple sandwich with that much creativity. Great drinks, great food, great vibe - Pony Up nails it. Highly recommend!

I ate dinner before a Rockies Game and wanted to eat something besides ball game food. The Saigon had good reviews and it was good as advertised. Service was pretty quick. The sandwich was spicy but the dip counter balanced it. Good stuff!

Ajou and bourbon

AJOU!!! the ajou at this place is incredible!!! I was recommend this spot for a bourbon with ajou backs so it was top on my list while I visited Denver! We didn't eat but I would love to come back and get a French dip, I imagine they are delicious! We came on a Sunday mid day and it was pretty empty. I was so excited to be there and the bartenders unfortunately didn't seem interested in us or the excitement I had for this "famous" Ajou. Hopefully that will be different next time we come!

Good dive bar option downtown. I think it wasn't the best choice for our 5-person group. We had to huddle around a 4-top table because the larger tables were reserved for groups of 6+ (but then we saw groups of 2-3 sitting at those tables, so that was annoying). I think service was as expected for a dive bar, nothing overly outgoing, probably understaffed. The food and beer selection were both great. Most of us got a sandwich. I got the mushroom sandwich with mushroom broth, which was a really great vegetarian option. I'd go again with a group of 4 or less

I was last here almost 3 years ago. They have added more NA beverages and kept their prices the same. They still use QR codes, so no printed menus. Kevin M served me at the bar. I started with the Blossom NA. Very good Spritz type drink. Next was The Frenchie, a classic French Dip sandwich with lots of roast beef and gruyere cheese with au jus. I added the Crispy Potatoes tossed with parmesan cheese. I took a portion of the crispy potatoes home. They still charge a 1.5% kitchen appreciation fee. I saw a promotional sign for a French Dip Showdown on March 23 featuring Manny Barella of Riot BBQ and Erasmo Casino of Xiquita/Lucina with Rosaluna Mezcal.

Tasty cocktails, some affordable beer and shot options, and delicious food! Great spot for a bite and drink downtown at night. Happy hour looked enticing as well.

If you like French dips this is your place! I was excited to find a restaurant that had a vegetarian French dip since this isn't a dish I've seen elsewhere. We had the Smoked Mushroom dip, the Saigon, and a side of crispy potatoes. The Mushroom dip was delicious- the bread was fluffy and fresh, mushroom was flavorful, with gooey swiss cheese and a wonderful Porcini broth au jus. I would absolutely come back for this! The Saigon was a unique take on a French dip with Asian flavors. Flavorful pork and spicy aioli were the stars of the sandwich. The crispy potatoes were exactly as advertised-- crispy, salty, and covered with Parmesan- I would absolutely recommend these! I also had an espresso martini which was a great execution of a classic. Overall would definitely come back!

hot dawg

10/10 one of my favorite bites the entire trip. So so glad I made the decision to walk into this establishment. You go in and seat yourself and the menu is a QR code. However the water is NOT self serve just an fyi LOL. We were so thirsty we went straight to the water, but was nicely told to sit down so they can bring it to us. Good value for the food. Actually incredible value, I'm pretty sure it was the cheapest meal we had on the trip. And it was one of the best. I got the hot dawg which is essentially a chicken sandwhich but long. It is a tad bit greasy but omg the chicken is so flavorful and juicy. There's a slight spice that's addicting and the marination of the ginger in the chicken really peaks through. I will have to also get the kaarage if I come back simply because of how delicious the hot dawg was. The pickle also is so fresh and crunchy, it tastes like it's made in house. I also got the buffalo wings extra crispy and they were solid. Service was very friendly and the decor is super neat. I don't go back to a place very often because I like to try new things but this place?? Has my heart for sure.

Ask the Community - Pony Up

Is this more of a bar/club late night? We're traveling to Denver with a teenager so curious if this becomes a 21+ or if still able to come with all ages?

We are 21+ from 9pm to close Friday and Saturday but will accommodate families when we can!

What are the daily 4-7 happy hour specials?

Half off champagne every night at 11pm and all day Sunday

Also the fact that from what I could tell the speciality here for drinks is their espresso martinis which I am a huge fan of. The overall vibes and decor did not disappoint! First night we came here we snagged some bar seats and received stellar service from all the bartenders but Michelle in particular made us feel like regulars and we had a great time chatting with her. We ended up booking a reservation and revisiting a second time because the drinks and service were so great! With the spot being busy during both our visits the bartenders expertly handled the chaos like it was nothing, very impressive. They had so many good sounding special espresso martinis it was tough to pick. My wife loved the red velvet the most and also enjoyed a pumpkin spice too. I sampled a variety including Tiramisu, Peanut Butter Cup, Cookies & Cream, and a S'mores version. All of them had incredible flavor and I don't think I could pick a favorite honestly. That's when I came across Dearly Departed and I'm so glad I did. We arrived right when they opened at 5pm and were able to walk in and be seated immediately. The speakeasy is tucked into the underground portion of the restaurant, which adds to the charm. The space is beautifully decorated, moody, intimate, and effortlessly upscale. It truly sets the tone the moment you walk down. We ordered two spritzes and a charcuterie board, and both exceeded expectations. The drinks were refreshing, perfectly balanced, and felt elevated without being overcomplicated. But the real star was the charcuterie board. For $20, it was an incredible value, stacked with a variety of meats, cheeses, fresh veggies, nuts, and peppers. The freshly grilled bread was a standout touch, and the portions were more than generous. Every bite felt thoughtfully curated, and there was something new and delicious in every corner of the board. Between the ambiance, the quality of the drinks, and the impressive food, Dearly Departed delivered an experience that felt both cozy and refined. I'd absolutely recommend checking it out for the atmosphere alone. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more from their menu.

My mother and I had booked a reservation for two. We walked in and waited a good 5 minutes till anyone even noticed we walked in. After finally seeing us we were seated at a table in the corner. Right as we were about to order the hostess (a brunette with glasses) walked up asking if we would move tables so she could seat a walk-in party of 8. We accommodate despite being confused as to why a walk-in had priority over our prior made reservation. This is when things got bad. We were seated in a middle table between two other parties. We could not hear each other whatsoever. After 10 minutes, we realized no one was sitting at our original table. My mom asked why we had to move and she said the party of eight decided not to come in. We asked to be moved back to our original table so we could hear each other better in converse. This was met with an eye roll and hostility, saying she had other people she wanted to seat there but if we were so insistent, we could move back. We moved back to the other table. My mom had her drink brought to her and as soon as they arrived at the table, the woman with locks in a bun (Savana) asked to see my ID. Mind you I had not ordered a drink. I handed over my ID and she looked at it then said I'm taking this into the back. No explanation at all. I was astonished. I've never had a bartender remove my ID from my hand and take it all the way to the back. This made me extremely uncomfortable as it has personal information on it. Who knows what they were even doing with my ID in the back. When the host came back to our table, I simply asked why they took my ID into the back. She immediately got ridiculously defensive. She began to state this was common protocol to remove someone's ID completely and take it to the back. I questioned why that would ever happen and why they didn't bring the manager out to look at my ID. My mom called them out for it being coincidental that they started treating us bad after we complained about our table being moved. This is when the hostess told us we were "being rude and being disrespectful". The host then continued to escalate the conversation by overly saying how "rude" we had been. We repeatedly tried to shut the conversation down, but she continued over and over again. After, the host eventually left our table of the women seated next to us leaned over to say they were also in shock at the hostess's behavior. We paid our $20 check and left. Overall, the staff were horrible. I will never be coming back here and will warn every one of the horrible service. I'm disgusted and in complete shock I even spent $20 on a drink just to be treated like trash.
