It's not my first time coming here, but this is my first time leaving a review. The owners have always been very nice every time I've gone in. I like to rotate between different egg sandwiches depending on my mood. I have enjoyed the tiramisu latte before and this time I tried the honeycomb latte, which comes with honeycomb on top, milk, and a couple shots of espresso. There are a variety of different mini cakes. So far my mom's favorite is the black sesame. It passes the Asian mom test of it not being too sweet. I asked like to reuse their tins at home for other purposes. They also have 6 inch cakes that you can pre-order for special occasions. I came across their booth at the Venice Flea & Artist market. I got to sample their taro/taro, earl grey, and pork floss/salted egg mini-cakes. Their pork floss was my fav because it was such a unique flavor combo for a cake! The earl grey was also delicious and a close second. The Ube/taro was also good but the flavor wasn't as strong as the other ones. I wish I could've sampled all their flavors, but didn't want to be greedy :) they should do a sampler set where you can try 4 half size mini cakes or something! I kept seeing Pillow Talk on my TikTok FYP and finally felt that it was time to drive out to Pasadena to give it a shot. The dining area is has fairly small tables but a decent amount of seats. They have free Wi-Fi and outlets, and I saw several customers doing work--I think it'd be a nice study spot. The ambiance is very cute for hanging out with friends as well. The employees were all super sweet and attentive; they were really helpful with suggesting items to try and bringing out water and whatnot. The service was 10/10. The star of the show is definitely the dessert display, which features all the different little cake options. The cakes do run out as the day goes on, so I would recommend stopping by earlier in the morning if there's a specific flavor you want. I ended up getting the Taro cake and an Okonomiyaki sandwich. I thought the cake was was so yummy; the ube chiffon cake was really fluffy, and the taro mousse was perfectly not too sweet (an elite compliment coming from my Asian mother). The sandwich came out really warm, but I felt that it was lacking a little in the ingredients. Several bites didn't really have any bacon or cabbage which was a little unfortunate given the $13 price, but it was still worth trying. The drinks looked good as well, but I unfortunately didn't get to try any this time. In terms of parking, there's only street parking in the front; when I went on a Sunday afternoon, I found a spot really easily, but I'm not sure how it would be other times. As a whole, I thought Pillow Talk was an awesome cafe, and there are still a lot of the things on the menu that I hope to eat--I'll be back for sure. read more

If I had one word to describe this place, it would be "disappointing". I doubt any of the patrons or even the staff have been to Japan because these egg sandos are absolutely nothing like what you find there. These are as basic as any American egg salad or omelette sandwich. I am fine rating this for 2 stars as the two girls working on my visit were super kind and helpful with any questions I had. The food also wasn't bad, it was just very bland and boring. Starting off I ordered the Tiramisu frappe. It was probably the most boring blended coffee I've ever had and tasted nothing like tiramisu. All it was - coffee and milk blended together with ice. As for the sandwiches, I ordered the "egg heaven" and "okonomiyaki". Quite frankly, these are over priced for what you get. The omelette in the okonomiyaki had no seasoning whatsoever while the bacon was extremely salty and the bonito flakes were so overly fishy I've never had bonito flakes as pungent as these. The flavors were so off-balanced and did not work, and I'm not sure how adding American bacon and bonito flakes to an omelette qualifies this as an "okonomiyaki" sandwich. The egg salad was also very bland, and there was so much mayonnaise, if the soft boiled eggs weren't in the middle I would think this was just a chunky mayo sandwich. Although the bread was soft, the sandwich pieces fell apart when taking them out so all the egg salad was left in the container. Overall, these just aren't worth it. read more

Other than speedy and friendly service, along with cute ambiance, the food was not worth coming back to. Items that I got: - tamagoyaki sandwich: LOTS of egg, that was lacking that umami flavor. In my opinion, it could've have just a little bit less egg, and making it fluffier -okonomiyaki sandwich: I was most excited about this one. It had a nice okonomiyaki flavor with a balance of the mayo, sweetness and fluffiness. This was good, I'd get this again - matcha dessert: beautiful presentation and delicious! The staff was super friendly and very patient while we asked questions about the flavors and decided on the menu. They were very helpful to describe what was inside each flavor. This was a plus because I'm all about customer service and they get 100! All of them were really good and not overly sweet. They each had a good flavor and wasn't too bold. I loved the black sesame and ube basque cheesecake the best. My cousins liked the tiramisu and peach. There's definitely something for everyone, no matter what you are in the mood for. WHEN: Friday @12pm PARKING: There's a parking lot a block away that gives you 90 minutes for free. I had lunch plans and thought I pick up some desserts. It was not busy at all. If I didn't have lunch I would have totally bought some sandwiches too. The cakes looked really yummy and fun, and there's what I picked: MATCHA RED BEAN - $8.50 Matcha, Chiffon Cake, Red Bean Paste, Topped with Pistachio. This is a great one for those who love Red Beans cuz there's plenty of it and its sweet. The Matcha flavor was nice too. PINK LOVER - $8.50 Raspberry Jelly, Lychee Mousse, Rose Mousse, Chiffon Cake. Didn't taste the lychee but definitely the raspberry because of the jelly. The rose was subtle. The chiffon cake was dry so having the mousse and jelly compensated for that. So make sure every bite has that mouse. SUNNY SIDE UP - $8.50 Mango Jelly, Coconut Mousse, Chiffon Cake. This looked so fun since the jelly and mousse looks like a fried egg. I enjoyed this combination of flavors. Also, the cake part was dry but luckily the cake only takes up like 1/4 of the entire dessert. These were fun treats and its nice that it comes in a tin casing with a lid so you don't feel pressured finishing it in one sitting. They're all still good the next day. My only complaint is how dry the chiffon cake parts are. Honestly just by itself reminded me of a dish washing sponge. But I love how creative these treats are. read more

I love their Kinako Chestnut dessert! It's a subtle sweetness to it that doesn't make it overly sweet! I got the honeycomb latte and it was delicious! Before mixing in the honeycomb it's a little more bitter however after the honeycomb dissolves it makes sweet. This coffee is on the sweeter side. Okay Pasadena, I see you. Pillow Talk is FUN. I've had this place bookmarked for what felt like forever and after a work day of travel I was finally able to give this spot a try and WOW was it fabulous! Pillow Talk is a social media influencers dream. The food and drinks are fun, whimsical, and eye catching. And if your not an influencer or "it girl" I promise this spot is still for you. The food, service, and prices make this restaurant an easy 10/10 must try. Located on Lake this restaurant is easy to spot. I parked on the street out front of this establishment. I paid the electronic meter $1 for 90 minutes, super easy peasy. I could have hunted for free parking but it was easy to just park out front. The restaurant inside is more small cafe like, very white & not super "cute" just meaning it doesn't prepare you for all of the wonderfulness that is inside. They've got about 7 tables inside & I was thankful this place seems super clean and health conscious as they had wipes on all tables. Anyways, a sweet girl rang me up from the counter. She was quick and efficient. The food came out within about five minutes but again they weren't super busy. Here's what I ordered (and what you should try too). Iced Matcha Mango Latte (4/5). This latte hit the spot. Wasn't overly sweet and presentation was cute. The matcha was some of the better I've had but I did hope the mango would have been a little more powerful of a flavor. It was still good though. Egg Heaven Sandwich (5/5). The presentation of this beautiful sandwich is everything! It was the most perfect egg salad sandwich but I definitely loved how in the middle they also had a medium hard boiled egg. It's an egg salad sandwich so In theory there isn't much to it but it was tasty and beautifully crafted. Definitely an Instagram worthy sandwich. Pillow Talk Deserts (5/5). You MUST try the pink lover dessert cake here. As a dessert I am not 100% sure what it is LoL. It's like a cake but lighter, also the pink lover had some type of lychee jelly that made it insanely good. I'm doing a terrible job at describing this but trust me you just have to try their desserts. They are delicious and again, beautiful. I also tried their Taro Pillow Talk - it was prettier then it was flavorful but again, it's all about the authentic sometimes. However flavor wise definitely go with the Pink Lover dessert. Their desserts are just so visually stunning that I had to grab a couple to take home for family as gifts. This cafe is beyond adorable and the vibes are right. It's more of a niche spot but I promise you the finger foods and drinks are good, I would highly recommend if your in the mood for something new. read more

I really wanted to try the Sunny Side Up, but decided to get their most popular cake, the Pink Lovers. Mother was thirsty and decided to try one of their new drink items, the Mango Matcha! The egg heaven sandwich was good but it wasn't anything special. It tasted similar to the ones I make at home. I absolutely love the cakes at Pillow Talk. Finally had time to stop by this cute little cafe on South Lake in Pasadena and had a wonderful time trying a bunch of different cake flavors! The store is spacious and bright and there's even wet wipes available at each individual table which is perfect for their sandos, which I unfortunately did not get to try this time. We had the matcha yuzu, black sesame, sunny side up (mango coconut), chocoberry, and strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was surprisingly my favorite because it reminds me of the milk and berries from Portos. The cake inside is moist (matcha was a little on the dry side that day) and the cream is smooth and not overly sweet, just perfect creaminess. For drinks, we had the mango matcha and the honeycomb latte. My husband didn't like the honeycomb latte but I thought it was fine, although not outstanding. Love, love, LOVE this place! We went here on a Friday last week around 1:20pm and there was no wait! Maybe there was no wait since it was a weekday, but the day and time I went had no wait. We ordered the Mentaikoyaki, Egg Heaven, and the Okonomiyaki for our sandwiches and also the Strawberry Shortcake and the Oreo for our desserts. First, I sampled all of the sandwiches and my favorite was the Mentaikoyaki because it was flavorful, unique, and didn't get too messy. If I were to rank my favorite to least favorite sandwich, it would be Mentaikoyaki (favorite), then the Egg Heaven, then the Okonomiyaki sandwich as my least favorite. The Okonomiyaki sandwich got very messy and soggy, which was why it was my least favorite. All of the sandwiches tasted good though and they all came into a very close tie! Now, about the desserts! Both desserts tasted good, but my favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake since it was sweet, but not too sweet. The Oreo dessert eventually got too sweet for me, so I had to alternate between both flavors. I did love how chocolatey the Oreo dessert was though! I'd recommend this place! I really excited to finally try this place since I love Japanese sandwiches but these were pretty lackluster. The bread did not taste or feel fresh, it wasn't soft and fluffy. Found this spot in Pasadena last weekend as I needed a place to study. Pillow Talk has such a nice and quiet interior for anyone to come in and study. They offer a plethora of delicious cakes, lattes and these mini sandwiches. They have outlets next to each table which is really convenient for studying. Tried this place for their lattes. They offer great drinks to spice up your afternoon and get you through the day. Both drinks we got 50% less sweet which ended up being perfect. The matcha was of good quality, as well as the coffee was. Both foams added a little sweetness, which we liked. Solid sandwich that is pretty filling. Ordered the Egg Heaven and the Tamago Pork Floss sandwich. The Egg heaven had both chopped boiled eggs and halved boiled eggs which gave it an interesting texture. The black pepper tasted like it was freshly cracked which made it extra delicious. I would definitely recommend if you are in the mood for a cold sandwich. The Tamago Pork Floss is a warm sandwich. I would say that I liked this one better between the two (but both were really good). The pork floss gave it a nice umami taste and the egg was done over easy. I parked in the macys parking structure (free) and walked over since Pasadena is notorious for no parking sometimes. I ordered my egg Heaven sandwich ahead of time through the Yelp app for pick up. It didn't take long! The place is small, very clean, and very cute. The lady who helped me was kind and recommended the two cakes I also purchased. The basque cheesecakes are limited time only. I got the pink lover cake and the grape earl grey cake. The sando was delicious. I was expecting it to taste like the egg salad sandos from Japan but these did not. So if you're looking for that, sorry the egg Heaven didn't taste like it. BUT IT WAS really good, stuffed with egg salad and sprinkled with pepper, it was finger licking good. I bought the cakes to give to my mom and grandparents, I will let you know if they like them! They were sooo beautiful.
