Ordered UberEats and my order arrived in less than an hour! Menu had a good variety of sandwiches, cakes, and drinks. Pricing was pricey. Most of the cakes cost $9+ and the sandwiches were $10+! Got the Egg Heaven Sandwich ($13) and it was pretty much an egg salad sandwich. The bread didn't taste fresh and was quite dry. I was expecting the bread to be soft and fluffy but that wasn't the texture at all. The egg salad was quite heavy on mayonnaise and had too much pepper for my preference. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the sandwich unfortunately. The Sunny Side Up (Coconut Mango Mousse Cake) - $9.50 - was delicious! Love how it was nicely packaged in a cute tin! The mango mousse was so creamy and I could tell it was made with sweet mangos! The cake was so moist and fresh. The coconut cream on top made it even more delicious! Definitely recommend! The Tiramisu ($9.50) was so good! It was so creamy and every bite was nicely layered with mascarpone mousse/coffee jelly and topped with cocoa powder. It wasn't too sweet and the cream didn't feel too heavy. The cake was very fresh and soft! Overall, I didn't enjoy the sandwich but the cakes were incredible and definitely worth getting!
We have been hearing a lot about Pillow Talk so we finally gave it a try and ordered their popular egg sandwich, Egg Heaven, to go. First off, it actually traveled really well, which I honestly did not expect. Nothing was soggy and it still held together nicely by the time we ate it. We went to Japan recently and got a little obsessed with their egg sandwiches, so I could not help but compare. Pillow Talk's version was good and scratched the itch, though I would say Japan still wins for me, how could it not, lol ;) One thing I really appreciated was that it was not overloaded with mayo. A lot of places here tend to go overboard, but this one felt more balanced and let the egg flavor come through. The only downside was the portion size. It was a bit small for the price, so it did not feel like the best value. Still, it is a solid option if you are craving that style of egg sandwich without hopping on a plane.
This place was such a great cafe. They have so much quality things to offer, and it all looks so good!! I ordered a Honeycomb Latte and it came with actual sweet honeycombs. I also ordered these mini cakes which were layered and just flavored to perfection. Lastly, I got the egg sandwich which was perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough of it. Will be coming back soon.
Came here after checking out Descanso Gardens and was worried they'd sell out so I placed an online order. Picking up was smooth and easy but parking was awful. We had to circle the area a few times to find street parking. It would be nice if they had a designated parking lot in addition to street parking because some of the businesses around there had that. There was seating inside despite the store being pretty small, so my bf and I just ate inside. The cakes were pretty good! I got the Matcha Yuzu and he got the Kinako Chestnut. I couldn't really taste the yuzu until I tried only the first layer of cream. The matcha overpowers the yuzu a lot because there was two layers of matcha cream and one layer of matcha cake. Still really good and can taste that the matcha is high quality! As for the kinako chestnut, we couldn't taste the chestnut much but there were some chestnut pieces hidden in the cake! I would love to try the peach one as well but this place is quite far. Hopefully I'm in the area when they have the peach seasonal again.
Cute little place in Pasadena! They do sell sandwiches and drinks but I was interested in the mini cakes so that's all I got. First off, it's $9!!! For a little cake!!! But part of me justifies that price because it comes in a nice metal tin. Have I found use for the tin yet? No. But it's a nice tin so I'm keeping it anyways. Pink Lover ($9)--Has raspberry jelly, lychee mousse, and rose mousse. When eating I didn't really know what the layers were besides the jelly, so had to search it up. I don't know if I'd be able to pinpoint lychee and rose but as a whole the flavor was really good!! The jelly was like... a slab of cold jelly very texturally different from mousse/chiffon but I guess it's made like that on purpose? The chiffon was soft, kind of dry if I'm being picky, but not noticeable enough to make me stop eating. Overall I liked it! The flavor was really good! It's light and not too sweet. I'll be back if I'm in the area! Curious about their other flavors!!
We have been dreaming about the egg sandwiches ever since we came back to the states. We had the egg sando almost everyday while on our trip to Tokyo, so when I came across Pillow Talk, I had to try it obvi! Located on Lake Ave, across from Erewhon, parking can be difficult like people have mentioned. I ordered ahead and picked up. The " Egg Heaven" Sandwich ($11) was good... filling was nice, but the bread was not great. I also tried some of the Chiffon cakes. The ube one was the best one we tried, but all were very nice and not too sweet. Service was good.
Came here for the first time and I'd definitely make the drive to come again. The barista was so nice and helpful. I got the spanish latte and it was so delicous! There's plenty of seating and they don't charge for milk alternatives. It's so cute and clean with lots of cute plants! Would love to study here
Customer service: Fantastic Drinks + Desserts: very flavorful and awesome! Sandwiches: delicate and the bread was so soft! I saw an Instagram Reel and had a friend that lives in the area who has never been. So, we both went. Everything was so good.
Cute little local spot. I've heard good things about the tin cakes. There's some seats and it's pretty quiet it would be great to study/work. Pink lover and strawberry shortcake were light and had a well balanced cream/cake ratio. This cake will not weigh you down instead you'll want to keep eating more. We also really enjoyed our drinks as well. The matcha is very high quality and with the ube foam it was fantastic. My friend also loved her coffee drink and said it was pretty strong!
My second time at pillow talk and I was a bit disappointed by their mango matcha and the strawberry shortcake. The strawberry shortcake was very dry even paired with the cream but the taste was good. A very strawberry syrup taste. But for 9 dollars it's expensive for how small it is. It's definitely more for the looks than the taste. They originally forgot our drink but I can't blame them because it seemed like only one person was working and making everything. We got the mango matcha which barely had any mango flavor. The matcha part was good though. Overall still a great place to chat, study, or work since it's not super busy and has outlets! I loved the natural lighting in the cafe too!
Pillow Talk is a cute little cafe for Japanese themed snacks, matcha, and coffee. The beans here are lightly sweet, nutty, and just subtly bold. Finding parking isn't the hardest on the street, but it is limited to 1 hour (but thankfully only $1) The items here are fairly well priced and not overly expensive, and the atmosphere is cute, warm, and earthy. Need a drink with a milk substitute? There's thankfully no extra charge for those. Overall, it's an amazing place to work. The only area of improvement would be Wi-Fi - these speeds are abysmally slow, too slow to even browse the web. Other than that, everything about this cafe provided a relaxing atmosphere, a good step away from the busy streets of Pasadena. Best time to visit? Around noon, sit by the window, and there's just just the right amount of sunlight to brighten your day!
It was such a joy finding this place! The decor is very inviting, it's an intimate space where you can easily see yourself doing schoolwork or catching up with a friend. The main reason for my visit was to feed my Egg sando addiction so I ordered an Egg Heaven. It was definitely tasty, it seemed to be on regular white bread not milk bread but they toasted it which gave it a nice texture. The egg yolk in the egg halves were not as gooey as I would like but really the flavor was just amazing so I didn't mind! The matcha was one of the best I've ever had! They were very heavy handed with the matcha powder and it tastes like a very good quality matcha. On a whim I also grabbed a black sesame cake because it sounded amazing. It wasn't life changing but it was enjoyable for sure, good black sesame flavor and it wasn't overly sweet which I very much appreciated. The lady helping me was also incredibly sweet and welcoming which just adds to the inviting atmosphere of the place. Highly recommend checking them out!
First off, just know that the parking situation is typical of this end of Lake Avenue-- it sucks. There's no lot and there's only metered street parking. The shop is cute in that clean, well-kept, minimalist Asian sort of way. We were there for egg sandwiches. We got both their standard egg salad sandwich and a tamagoyaki sandwich We liked everything we had. The tamago-yaki is the dashi-flavored type. It was neither overly, nor cloyingly sweet. Their egg salad was fresh and nicely seasoned. (my wife actually makes my favorite egg salad, TBH -- her secret is Colman's mustard powder haha) There is one weird non-complaint critique from the both of us-- There was too much good stuff between the bread. I know it sounds weird, but we thought the egg to bread ration was off, as the bread they use was also very good! Other than the sucky parking and the over-generosity in the fillings department, the place is awesome. The workers there are also super nice and helpful. The beverages we ordered were both really good, especially my espresso yuzu tonic-like concoction. All and all a great place to enjoy Asian inspired egg-wiches and fizzy beverages if you can find a parking spot.
I've had this spot saved on my Yelp bookmark forever because who can resist those pretty cakes in tin cans?! Finally went after a birthday lunch & it was just okay. The shop is small, but clean and cute. Had no issues with the service. I got the yuzu matcha, grape earl grey, chocolate crunch, and taro tin cakes plus the dirty sesame latte. The flavor profiles were interesting. It was super creative, but none of them blew my mind. All the cakes were gorgeous in color despite minor imperfections but I think the problem is that I got overhyped by how gram-able they are. Perhaps it's because they're premade so ahead of time that it's lost flavor or freshness. The latte was needed after the long walk here, but not that memorable either. There's a roasted black sesame milk tea in a shop in Arcadia that can't be beat. So overall taste was average for me, but there's a chance I'll give it a second chance one day since the creme brulee flavor I really wanted to try was out of stock. read more

Nice quiet spot with cute snacks! So many different desserts that you can try (there's a mango cake/jelly dessert that looks like a sunnyside up egg ) - plus the little cakes come in a mini metal tin that you can keep. We ordered: - iced honeycomb latte: typical iced latte with honeycomb bits on top, either can each the crunchy bits on their own or wait for it to melt into the drink. Definitely needed a caffeine fix but it wasn't outstanding - matchamisu: good amount of matcha and layers of texture was interesting - cake was a little dry but considering how its $9-$9.50 probably best to split with a friend - white chocolate muffin top: shaped like a cookie but tastes like a muffin, it was nice of them to heat it up for us but I found it a bit sweet read more

A quaint yet delightful cafe in the heart of S Lake Ave (narrowly escaping the influence of the recent Eaton fires), my experience at this family-bred establishment was excellent to say the least. The cafe is quiet and allows one to fully enjoy their individual experience in comfort. The Honey-comb latte was the perfect sweetness level, which is hard for me to say with my picky, non-sugary minded Asian palette! The Ube and raspberry cakes in a cute tin can were flavorful and just the perfect size for individual consumption. The egg sandwich had a nice fluffy texture in both the bread and toppings. Service was extremely quick and friendly. Would highly recommend supporting this fantastic local business! read more

I'd seen this recommend by others on the Facebook group SGV Eats and decided to give it a try. I got an Egg Heaven sandwich for myself and my bf, a taro ube cake and an earl grey grape cake. First I'll say the place itself is small but cute. The ladies working there was wonderful! I had a lovely conversation with Jacklyn (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) and it made the wait fly by. The sandwich was very tasty, but massively overpriced for the small portion. The taro ube cake...near flavorless and very dry. But the earl grey cake was unique and tasty. But neither were worth the price either. It's the pricing that's made this lose stars for me. I'd give it 3.5 if I could. But really that's because I enjoyed the conversation and the food was decent. But way too expensive to return. read more

Pillow Talk Cafe is located on Main Street of Lake Avenue with convenient street parking. It's my go-to spot for egg sandwiches and desserts! The Mentaiyaki Egg Sandwich is my favorite, egg is cooked perfectly, it's best to eat it fresh and piping hot as it doesn't quite taste the same when you takeout. The desserts are equally impressive, with the Pink Lover Lychee dessert being my favorite with its light and refreshing flavors. The Strawberry and Oreo Lollipop Cake is also a fun, easy-to-eat treat, while options like Salted Oreo and Matcha Yuzu offer bold, creative flavors. The sandwiches and desserts keeps me craving to eat it again. Definitely will be back soon! read more
A family member brought 6 sandwiches and 4 desserts, all in different flavors. Overall, the flavors were okay, but they are a bit pricy. Sandwiches: My favorite was the Mentaiko. Not much mentaiko there but enough to know that you are eating mentaiko without the sandwich being too salty. Egg Heaven and Tamagoyaki were also delicious, but not much creativity in flavor. But this is fine; sometimes you want that classic flavor. Musubi, Okonomiyaki, and Pork Floss were too salty. However, I appreciated the Asian flavors mixed into the traditional egg sandwich; gave me ideas for my next egg salad sandwich. Dessert: We had Oreo, Black Sesame, Matcha, and Taro. They come in tin cans, which I assume is reusuable, but seemed unnecessary. It probably contributed to the price which I thought was a bit high. Overall, the flavors were not strong enough. And if you don't like mousse-based desserts, this is not for you. They have a layer of sheet cake, but most of it is mousse. While I enjoyed trying the different flavors, I was not impressed. The concept is great and the food is Instagrammable. But I would work on the flavor balance and consider switching the tin can to something less permanent and sustainable. read more

Pillow Talk in Pasadena is a great place to stop by for lunch. It specializes in Japanese-style sandos and layer cakes. The Okonomiyaki sando, made to order and served warm, is delicious and also surprisingly filling. The layer cakes are made I n cute reusable silver tins. The earl grey grape stole the show for me! They also have artisan bakery items like cookies and matcha muffin tops. I got one of each and really enjoyed them. Service is friendly and helpful, but the cafe itself is a little odd. It was empty when I came and seemed to not get a ton of traffic. I also thought it was a little weird that a cafe wouldn't have a public restroom, but I asked nicely and staff let me use it. Sanitation could be improved. There's a vent on the ceiling that's pretty filthy. I noticed when a spider dangled down on a thread from the vent as I was eating. Overall, I'll be back for the food, but it's not the most atmospheric cafe around. read more

A MUST-TRY !! Would I come back? YES. Don't underestimate these 4-inch cakes! They are PACKED with flavor & are the perfect 'Asian Sweet' if you know what I mean ;) Here's What I Got: Iced Honeycomb Latte: - 9/10 - Super aesthetic - Strong coffee flavor - Not overly sweet Matcha Mango Latte: - 9/10 - SURPRISINGLY REALLY GOOD - Matcha & mango flow rly well--don't overpower each other Okonomiyaki Sandwich: - 9/10 - Bacon, egg, cabbage, mayonnaise, dashi - TASTES VERY SIMILAR TO THE REAL OKONOMIYAKI - Bread was FLUFFY - Egg was cooked perfectly - Good amount !! Egg salad itself was good but the execution of the sandwich was a bit lacking. Because the sandwich is cut into third the size of each piece is on the small size which makes the egg salad want to fall out. I was also expecting an egg salad sandwich similar to the ones in Japan and other places in the US which are not toasted. This is the first one I ever had that was toasted. It was ok but not what I expected. Place was nice looking and service was efficient. Price is a tad high at $11 for an egg sandwich. read more
Such a cute little place! I actually drove down here from Antelope Valley when visiting there from the Central Valley and it did not disappoint!! I got so much food to bring back on the drive and the lady was so sweet, she offered to pack it up with ice packs and keep it in the freezer until we were ready to leave! She even came over and chatted with us while we were seated and we were fortunate enough to hear the origin of the place and many other delightful stories from her business. I got several cakes: the Grape Earl Grey, Taro Ube, Black Sesame, and Kinako Chestnut. I also got the Egg Heaven and Mentaikoyaki sandwiches (we loved both!) along with the Strawberry Fruit sandwich (last one) and a Raspberry Lemon Muffin Top like the clip from Seinfeld! My company got a Cappuccino and then wanted to try the Dirty Matcha, but the lady was so sweet to warn her about the caffiene content and offer her a cup of water in the meantime as my company had divulged that caffiene does sometimes make her jittery. We got the Matcha Mango instead of the Dirty Matcha and it was exquisite! We got a Yuzu Fruit Refresher for the drive back and it was sparkling in the best way, and I say this as someone not normally fond of carbonated beverages. I'm super excited to re-use the cake tins and I'll update this review with a picture when I do. I am in love with their environmentally-friendly conscious effort to have containers that can be upcycled. I plan to return as soon as possible, and I strongly recommend that you seek this place out because it is worth any distance! read more

Really cute yet unassuming place, about the size of half a typical store, sandwiched between two larger stores along Lake Ave. It would be easy to miss if you weren't paying attention! But walk in, and you are immediately greeted by the loveliest, warmest lady (who I presume to be the owner) that is just bursting with smiles and sunshine. She told us all about their delectable sandwiches, amazingly creative (and gorgeously presented) cakes and incredible blended drinks. We sampled two of their blended drinks, a savory Japanese-style sandwich and the "Sunnyside Up" (mango and coconut) and Tiramisu cakes, both served in very aesthetically pleasing steel tins that you can take home to keep. A joyful little spot that is perfect for a casual pick-me-up or afternoon snack. Neighborhood gems like these are what make Pasadena the best place in LA. read more

Leaving review here as well since there are two dif listings. Stopped in with my boyfriend for a tamagoyaki, Japanese egg sandwich, delicious fluffy folded omelettes with kewpie mayonnaise and lightly sweet bread tucked neatly into its tray. It was the perfect lunch to take out and eat at the park on a sunny day. It was so filling we probably could have shared one sandwich. Fast friendly service too. We also grabbed an Ube latte, and we couldn't stop remarking on how good it was, not too sweet with just the right intensity of yam, a great warm cup for this cozy season. We will be back! read more

I googled this cute and cozy cafe awhile back, and finally came in today. It was clean, great lighting and the employees were very informative and helpful. It has been around since 2019, definitely check them out when or if your in the Pasadena area; it's worth it! They have a cute display of amazing looking treats and a wide spread of yummy drinks. I originally saw the matcha strawberry online but when I went in I got their special. Iced matcha with mango. Trust me when I say it was to die for! The matcha drink was so creamy and not overpowering. It was the best part of my morning. She did say I would love the matcha. Along with my drink I also got one raspberry lemon muffin top, and a Japanese strawberry cake. It tasted like heaven light, fluffy and lightly sweet. I will be back again thank you ! read more

We stumbled across this adorable find while getting boba next door. It was such a nice treat for a Sunday afternoon. We tried a few of the desserts- Matcha yuzu- good blend of the matcha with the citrus Black sesame Sunny side up- good fruity blend of mango and coconut. As if you were eating a smoothie Pink lover- a little tart, a little spongy and not too sweet Chocoberry- richer than the others and heavy on the chocolate. The desserts weren't too sweet, which was much appreciated considering how dense some of them were. They were served in adorable reusable tin cans. Great for an individual dessert or you can get a few to share. This is a cozy spot to stop in for a quick dessert or snack. Small tables offer intimate seating. We didn't get a chance to try the sandwiches but looking forward to coming back for those. read more

Pillow Talk is just right there in quaint downtown Pasadena. My friend and I made our way here almost on accident as we tried to churn through another rough week of school. I ordered the ube latte and he got the honeycomb latte. They were pretty standard, I would say -- pretty good, but not extremely memorable. I think the star of their show is the desserts, but we weren't really in a dessert kind of mood when we went, so we didn't try them. There's enough seating for most people because it's not super busy, and the tables are well sized. The storefront does face west, so if you're getting there in the afternoon, keep the lighting in mind as the sun starts to set. read more

Omg what a cute hidden gem!! The space itself looks small on the outside but once you go in you'll see there are plenty of tables to sit at. Such a great study spot (with outlets!!). I ordered the dirty sesame latte which I LOVED!! There is sesame in the drink and as a cold foam which pairs nicely with the latte, there's a smooth balance between the two. I've had this place bookmarked for a while now, and I am so glad I tried this place! My friend and I got the Okonomiyaki Sandwich, Mentaikoyaki Sandwich, and the "Sunny Side Up" and tiramisu cakes. Everything was exceptional! I loved how fluffy the eggs were in the sandwiches. I loved the okonomiyaki sandwich more, as it had bacon and cabbage! The mentaikoyaki was good too. Both sandwiches were incredibly filling, savory, and delicious! The sandwiches are ENORMOUS too. I would definitely recommend getting these as a quick, on-the-go meal! As a huge mango lover, the "Sunny Side Up" cake was heavenly! The cake had a super fluffy and light consistency and a strong mango taste. It wasn't too sweet either! I loved the tiramisu as well. Amazing how a simple egg sandwich can be so elegant! The tamagoyaki is like a layered soufflé of savory egg with just the right amount of zesty tang from the mustard. It's made to order so it was still warm and moist. The black sesame dessert was also a winner but I am a sucker for anything black sesame. It's layered black sesame airy cake and mousse. I'm so sad I haven't been here any earlier! I've had this bookmarked for the longest and finally decided to come here with a friend. Everything they offer is delicious and absolutely worth it!!!! My friend and I ordered the okonomiyaki and mentaikoyaki. The salted pollock roe was barely there so if that was the case I would have just ordered the original. The okonomiyaki is really good though. I've also never tried a matcha latte with mango and now I'm obsessed. I had their matcha yuzu cake which was a nice balance between the two flavors-- light and not overbearing. The cafe is quite small but was never busy when I went. During the beginning of my time there, only one person was working which meant service was slow. Would love to come here again! read more

I'm from Arizona and I hope and pray they open a location here because traveling to Pasadena is a bit of a way but SOSOSO worth it! The sandwich was delectable. The matcha Yuzu was so yummy! The grape earl grey was as I thought it would be, fabulous. Pink lover was not mine but my friend said it was sooooo good.
