This spot is so spacious! I was intrigued by the corn milk on the menu, so I came in on my lunch break to grab a little pick me up. I ordered a matcha latte with corn milk, but the man working the counter kindly let me know the corn milk doesn't really taste like corn. I was a bit bummed out by that, and I added a strawberry syrup to my matcha. My matcha latte was pretty milky, with a hint of that grassy flavor from the matcha. I do wish the matcha flavor was a little stronger.
Quick service and nice barista/cashier! I got the oat milk brew since it was my first time here and it's their namesake signature (so gotta try it right)? Very tasty and I didn't do any syrups or flavors. I probably would next time since I like a bit more sweetness. But the coffee flavor still comes through well even when brewed with milk overnight! Would come again as the cafe was spacious and had room for a few more people to co-work. The space was light, airy, and contemporary.
Popular in Japan & Korea, Milk Brew is made by steeping coarse coffee grounds directly in cold milk instead of water. It's stored in the fridge for 7 to 24 hours before being strained. The result is a smooth & creamy, naturally sweetened beverage. I had no idea about this process. I just heard this place was fairly new to Pasadena and wanted to check it out. The café is clean and spacious with plenty of areas to sit with your laptop. Their menu is simplistic featuring classic espresso-based drinks, matcha lattes, and Milk Brew (Whole, Oat, Corn, or Banana). Small bites are available too and their beans are from Black and White Roasters. Since Milk Brew is their specialty, that is what I ordered. Adrian assisted me. He was very friendly and helpful. I requested the Banana Milk Brew with Strawberry Syrup. Adrian informed me that the banana milk is sweeter and suggested a low sweetness level with the syrup. I took a sip and was pleasantly surprised. The banana flavor was subtle, the sweetness level was just right, the coffee was distinct but not overwhelming, and the beverage had a smooth texture with a creamy consistency. Incredibly smooth cold brew! I got the cold brew with cream top and it was perfect. My friends ordered the milk brew with banana milk and different syrups and I was able to take a few sips of theirs. The milk brew is less acidic as it's steeped in milk, it's creamy and delicious yet not too sweet. They have such a unique menu (with many syrup options, banana & corn milk). Id love to come back and try their other drinks and their breakfast burritos! The interior is quite spacious and minimalist with plenty of tables. Seems like a great study spot. The service was fast and servers were very kind! A new gem discovered for sure.
Milk Brew was a really cool place to get some remote work done for a couple hours. The banana milk brew was kinda sweet with a nice coffee flavor. I also got a cappuccino to go, since I have to get a classic to really judge a place. John crafted a great one: no bitter aftertaste, gorgeous latte art, rock solid. Grabbed a banana milk brew for my wife too. Oh and all their syrups are homemade! Super rare nowadays! So much natural light in here, I loved it. I sat at the coffee bar and chatted with the baristas, John and Antonio. Super swell guys. The only headache was PARKING. Ugh. Why does Pasadena hate building community in its beautiful downtown? Definitely coming back. Pro tip: sit at the bar and talk to the homies. John and Antonio, I hope you guys do bring some coffee craft drinks!
MILK BREW is a giant coffee shop right there on prime real estate on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. Lots and lots of indoor seating. Large beautiful space. Friendly and very good baristas. CORTADO was delicious! Not sour/tart. I am loving that I am getting a lot of creamy coffees lately. Within walking distance to a lot of the places you probably need to go to here in Pasadena.
Had a great experience here! There is 1 hour street parking right outside, otherwise some nearby paid parking ramps. The place is quite spacious where I feel like there could be some additional tables if they wanted to, but otherwise clean, simple decor with a beautiful tree inside and the space really boasts all the natural lighting from the windows. I got a matcha latte with oat milk, no additional flavoring and it was very smooth. Will definitely be back to try their other offerings. We ended up working there until they closed at 4PM and staff was incredibly friendly.
Although, I had a really awesome experience and the owner was incredibly kind, I expected more out of the coffee. I really thought the concept of brewing coffee in milk rather than water was very interesting. The coffee created a creamy like texture in each sip. I was excited to try the banana milk brew, but the banana taste was not as present as I would have liked it to be. Before finalizing our purchase, we were given a sample to try the popular banana brew. I got the regular iced latte with corn milk. Again, just a basic iced latte made with a different milk alternative. They grind a measured amount of coffee beans in their fancy grinders and brew it using their fancy espresso machines. I do have to say, the layout and technology they have in this shop is very cool. I was impressed at how long the line got and busy this new cafe got. I went on Labor Day and spent a few hours from opening time until about 10:30 am. Parking is available for a limited time, or metered parking in front of the shop.
The "renowned" Milk Brew, specifically the banana version, left much to be desired. The subtle coffee flavor was quickly lost beneath a strange taste, mouthfeel, and conflicting flavors. It was a weird macchiato of sorts--in the most literal sense: coffee-stained milk. But here's where things got interesting. I asked the barista if my daughter could sample some of the banana milk on its own. He kindly obliged, and I watched him grab a container of Mooala Banana Milk and pour her sample straight from it--the same brand you can pick up at Whole Foods. At the time, I assumed the banana milk was a house-made component of the drink, so seeing that admittedly surprised me and took away a bit of the allure. Regardless, it didn't change the bigger issue for me: I just didn't think the Milk Brew tasted very good. EDIT: The owner responded below and clarified that they have never claimed the banana milk is house-made and that they use Mooala, including a barista edition specifically for their Milk Brew. Fair enough. My assumption that the banana milk was house-made was exactly that--my assumption. That clarification doesn't change my opinion of the drink itself, though. The coffee was too subtle, the banana milk had a strange flavor, and the combination just didn't work for me. For something I'd heard so much about and was genuinely looking forward to trying, it was a big disappointment.

Inside is very spacious. Looks like the building used to be a bank with high ceilings and nice details. On a Wednesday afternoon, it was a full house, even though there were many tables. Several were taken by just one person on a laptop. Luckily, a guy left and freed up a place for us. The owner seemed passionate about his business. Very friendly and energetic when talking about coffee. My usual is a cappuccino, but this time, I tried something different; a cortado with banana milk. It's bold and had citrus notes. I'm not sure what type of beans were used but it's not my favorite, and I could barely taste any banana flavor. However, I really liked his passion and attention to details, even getting the exact weight to produce the perfect coffee drink. Perhaps I'll come back when they're a bit slower and chat about other kinds of coffee he offers. Though my cortado wasn't the best I've had, it gave me the caffeine buzz I desperately needed at the time.
Just come here for the banana milk coffee - just go. Thank me later. I am sure there other stuff are just as good but the banana milk coffee is creamy perfection. Friendly staff. Big open space. Bonus points for being dog friendly! Parking is street.
Milk Brew, located in Pasadena is across the street from Paseo Del Colorado. The interior is open and airy. There are nice big windows that bring in good lighting, As a baseline order for comparisons, I always get the iced oatmilk latte so I can fairly compare the drink from shop to shop. I got the iced oat milk latte without syrup, and it was solid. I also got the butter croissant and it was large, crispy and just the right amount of butter for me. I was not disappointed. Their pastries are from Out of Thin Air. There is metered parking nearby. I recommend downloading the parking app so you don't need to run out to feed the meter. The barista was friendly. It's a great addition to Pasadena's coffee scene!
They allow samples of the different milk brews which was nice. Spacious inside with lots of seating and WiFi. The milk brew with whole milk unsweetened was nice, had a bit of chocolate flavor

I was super impressed by this place. I knew when I saw the detailed flavor notes on the pour over selection board that I was in the right place. It's open and light filled. Easy free WiFi and plenty of tables. I need to make this part of my remote work rotation. I loved the presentation of the pour too. read more
New place my friend and I decided to try out. The new special edition latte with a bunch of yummy ingredients (on the left) was ofc tasty and sweet. My vanilla matcha latte (on the right) was ok Inside is nice and cool. Pretty minimalistic and modern. Bfast bacon burrito was ok. I probably wouldn't order it again I was just really hungry when I was ordering. It was too cheesy or beany for me. It was like a mushy cheesy burrito but dry and normal burrito looking on the outside. read more
I was looking for a cafe to study at for a few hours, and I'm so glad I found Milk Brew! It's such a huge space (or atleast huge compared to the tiny cafes in LA), with many tables, free wifi, outlets, great service, and delicious coffee. Their concept is unique: cold brew that is brewed in milk rather than water. The result is a very rich and creamy cold brew. It almost feels thick, in a good way. They offer plenty of non-dairy alternatives. We tried the banana milk brew (with added salted cream) and the oat milk brew with vanilla syrup. Very great coffee shop, and will definitely be back the next time I'm in Pasadena! read more

I was intrigued by their milk brew concept since I've never heard of it before! I tried the banana milk brew, and I thought it was ok. It was actually a little grainy, but the coffee was smooth. It was worth satisfying my curiosity, but I wouldn't crave it. The space itself is really minimalistic and calming. I went on a Thursday morning and there were no seats inside since there were a lot of people studying or working. Parking is metered street parking, which can get tough. read more

Milk Brew is a cool caffeinated spot for me and you. But hey! If you wanna bring someone else then that's cool too. The space is spacious and super clean kinda like my shoe. So if you're new? Then let me tell ya what to do if I was you and your crew. Definitely, I would get one of their pour overs and one of the specialties too. As for me, I went with the One on One which was definitely caffeinated fun. My second drink was a pour over that was called the Lica Torres which was a blend of or should I say taste of cocktail cherry with port wine of some sort. This was a light and refreshing drink on ice. I was impressed with the service from start to finish and they brought both my drinks and came to check on me and chat a little bit. I was looking for a cafe in Pasadena to get work done and came across Milk Brew! I visited on a Friday morning around 9am and there were a few people working on their laptops. The space is spacious with outlets and free WiFi. The cashier was really kind and asked how my day was going. I ordered an iced matcha latte and it was good! They also have breakfast burritos including a vegan option. read more
Don't sleep on this spot. I've been eyeing Milk Brew for a minute but haven't had the chance to get here. On a nice easy Sunday morning, this was the day. The wife got an oat milk brew with strawberry. I grabbed a banana milk brew. The flavor is perfect. Not overly sweet (although the banana milk is sweeter than a regular milk). The process for their signature drink gives a uniquely bold flavor that I can't quite describe. The aesthetics in this spot are cool, minimalist, modern. Lots of wood accents. There's a decent amount of seating but the space is large and it doesn't feel overly crowded. Parking is tricky but manageable. Although don't do what I did and park in the lot on the side. It's open to park in on weekends but only has a flat rate price of $13. You'd be better off parking at Paseo and walking across or hoping for a street spot. read more

Ordered the matcha with vanilla syrup and oat milk as well as the pesto danish. The matcha was overpowered by the oat milk and there was a faint matcha taste. There was no hint of sweetness and would've tasted better if there was more matcha flavor and slightly sweet. The danish however was quite delicious, warm, and very flaky. Good pesto flavor and definitely shined over the matcha. Overall, spacious cafe which is great to get some work done and chat with friends. Service was fast as well and easy for a quick grab and go. read more

Amazing service, unique drinks, and one hell of a banana coffee. I came to Milk Brew a few weeks ago as I was in the area. Parking can be tough but it's a great area to walk around. The space itself is really nice, I would def work here if I needed to get out of the house. As for the drinks let's get into it: - Iced Banana Coffee (8.3/10) The way they brew/made this was super smooth. The banana milk doesn't overpower the espresso, was a perfect pairing. I had this drink a second time, it wasn't as good but I'd still order again. - Iced Vanilla Coffee (7/10) My gf got this one. She really liked it, but I just thought it was okay. Probably bc I prefer sweeter drinks. Overall great experiences the two times I came. I think what stood out the most besides the drinks was the service, the owners really care about their business and the quality of the drinks. Would I go again? Yes! read more

Amazing! Let's talk about the aesthetic. It's very clean, spacious, and rather big for a coffee place. There are tables you can work, inside and outside. I can't say if it gets crowded (I did go pretty early, like 9 am), but it was quiet and the plenty of seating available. The staff were super professional, nice, and gracious! I ordered the lavender milk brew with whole milk. Let me tell you it was straight-up perfection! Not too sweet at all (and I'm sure they can adjust sweetness based on request!). I loved every sip of it. My only request is that they have bigger sizes. Like I downed my coffee in no time! I know coffee places in Pasadena are a dime a dozen but I really love Milk Brew and I think you might like it, too. Come check it out! read more

Got pretty astonished by how huge the space was, looking like a sizable office space converted into a minimalistic coffee shop. The signature drinks they offered were literally what they called out in their name. It's apparently a Japanese coffee-making technique by brewing the coffee directly with milk instead of water. As the process took quite plenty of time, it let the coffee taste stayed strong yet smooth. What made it fun was they offered different options of milk including corn and banana! Thanks to the barista who warned me that the banana milk came sweet within the default mode so I opted for no extra syrup. When you went for other milk, you typically would want to add the housemade syrup. I felt it was right balance between being creamy yet still allowed the coffee flavor leading. read more

Visited on Saturday, June 13 around 10:55 AM. Unfortunately, the milk brew was already sold out, so I'll have to come back and try that next time. My partner ordered a strawberry latte, and I ordered a cappuccino. Total came to $12.60, and payment was quick and easy and surprisingly they didn't ask for tip. Since this is still a newer shop, there are a few areas that could improve. Our drinks took about 15-20 minutes to come out, and my cappuccino was initially made as a latte. The barista caught the mistake, remade it, and kindly let me keep both drinks. Both were served a bit cooler than I expected. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the espresso. It had a floral, slightly funky flavor profile that stood out from the typical coffee shop roast. My partner felt the strawberry latte was just okay, as the flavor seemed to come mostly from syrup. The space is a highlight: spacious, minimalist, and cozy, with several large tables and plenty of outlets for working or studying. Parking can be a bit challenging. Most nearby street parking is limited to 30 minutes, though Paseo Colorado is an option if you don't mind a short walk. Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential. The espresso was promising, and I'm looking forward to coming back for the milk brew. As they continue to refine their workflow, I think the overall experience will improve as well. read more

Beautiful new coffee place near Paseo, the inside is so aesthetic. Staff is so nice and welcoming, and man the coffee is amazing! Finally a place that sells great coffee that isn't a watered down coffee flavored milk. The milk brew has such a strong pleasant coffee payoff and so smooth. Highly recommend and SO worth all the hype!! read more
Stopped by yesterday after lunch to try the milk brew coffee. I got the milk brew with whole milk and lavender syrup. I thought the coffee was delicious. However, I couldn't really tell the difference between this and just a regular latte. The milk taste was a bit stronger with the milk brew, but the difference wasn't extraordinarily noticeable. The space is quite beautiful though, and the staff were all very friendly and awesome. Parking can be a bit of a hassle; they have a small lot thats pay-by-space, but if you can't find anything there, you may have to look for street parking in the area, or opt to park at one of the $1 for first 90 minutes parking lots and walk on over. I heard good things about the banana milk and plan on trying that next when I go there next time! read more
Milk brew just opened up in Pasadena and after just one drink, I was sold. The coffee is brewed with milk and they have a few different options. Their banana milk is vegan and made with water and oats, this was my favorite! They also have oat milk and whole milk and then diff options for flavors. I met the owner George who told me how he came up with the idea of this coffee shop and I just love family owned businesses! This is a decent size space to meet friends or just a place to work! What a cool new spot! I came in to try out the milk brew after hearing some friends talk about it and it was absolutely worth the hype. I tried the corn milk version and it has such a lush mouth feel from the milk but the coffee flavor still pulls through. The space inside is minimalist with quite a bit of open room so I hope they add some more tables, such chill vibes. Sadly, I was very underwhelmed with my drink. I got a banana milk latte, and the banana tasted more on the artificial side and I couldn't really taste the espresso at all. I tried really hard to taste it, but all I could taste was banana flavoring and oat milk flavor? Disappointing since I had high hopes for Milk Brew. I would give 3 stars for the drink but the customer service from the guy who helped me was really good so I would feel bad giving 3 stars. The space itself is beautiful. Very nice! I saw lots of people working, I don't think there were any open tables, but there were open benches. If I return, I wouldn't get the banana milk but I'd try something else. read more
