Neighboring a local insurance office, Picnic is the perfect place to have a delicious breakfast or brunch away from the crowds of Jackson. The counter staff here are warm and welcoming, and the food was a fantastic way to start off our trip to the National Parks. We had amazing peach pop tarts from a local bakery and a light, airy egg souffle, the restaurant's signature way of preparing eggs. We could tell from the conversations around us that this was a local hangout: for brunch, the ambiance of a town favorite was just perfect and much calmer than the tourist traps downtown. read more

Don't you hate when you're on vacation and fall in love with a restaurant? Knowing it's your first and last meal there is such a bummer. So locals, visitors - get on it! Picnic is away from the town square, so you'll be away from the hustle of tourists. If you manage to find it, there's a small parking lot in the back. You'll notice the small patio seating. I loved the modern hipster design throughout the restaurant. It's very casual - some were just nursing coffee cups over their laptops while others were out to lunch with friends. In case it's not apparent, Picnic is in the Persephone Bakery family. I realized this when I saw all their pastries and immediately started pulsing. (I thought I might leave Jackson Hole without one last Persephone cookie) So it was kind of a dream getting an amazing sandwich (the chicken salad is clutch) and a Persephone cookie on the side. The sandwich was one of my favorite things I had in Jackson Hole, but next time I'd like to try one of their yummy looking salads. (They come with fresh baked baguette) Come for a great breakfast, lunch or brunch ~ there are lots of adult beverages to be had as well. Stay for the ambience and baked goods! read more

Absolutely no complaints about this place. Five for five all day long. I know they're related to Persephone down the street and another in Wilson, but this places is the crown location as far as food and drink go. Trad. cap. was A-1. Not too wet, not too dry. Good beans. The barista actually knew how to properly steam milk (none of that idiotic big-bubbled milk puke that so many places flop atop watery espresso and try to pass it off as a good drink). Not at all. Rich espresso with a bold crema head and silky milk danced in that cup and made some magic happen. We ordered a breakfast burrito along with the coffee. Wow. I was happy I did. It wasn't some week-old corpse pulled from the case and thrown on a panini press or something akin to that. It was fresh-to-order with fluffy egg, spicy chorizo, sour cream, black beans, and a killer salsa verde... ...Yes, just, yes. My only complaint was that the tortilla could have been warmed a little bit longer- those folded edges still had a slight chill to them. Service was pleasant and quick. Despite it being busy when we ordered, that wasn't a problem. Establishment was clean and well-appointed. There were no instances of piles of dirty dishes and crumbs from exited guests loitering up the joint and blocking off seating while waiting for staff to come bus it. It was 28 degrees outside when I popped into Picnic for some breakfast. I ordered the avocado toast and some green tea and sat down at one of the small tables. My name was called and I picked up my pot of tea and cup and saucer from the counter. A cozy place to have a cuppa, tempting croissants, muffins and loaves of freshly baked bread. Locals were meeting up while others gazed at their laptops. My toast was fabulous! Layers of avocado, boiled egg, sprouts with thinly sliced watermelon radishes perfectly salted. Yum. Visited many times in early Aug, 2017. Picnic is a quieter version of Persephone that I suspect locals visit instead of waiting in line and finding parking for Persephone. Comfortable chairs and covered tables outside make this a great destination in any season. WiFi works better here at Picnic, and I was able to do multiple conference calls without dropped connections. Just like Persephone, everything here at Picnic is incredible. - Avocado & Tomato Toast: Even though the bread is toasted and thick cut, it really worked as it was still soft to bite though. Great quality tomatoes and nice avocado. Cheese on top finishes it. - "Basic" Breakfast: Nothing basic about this - egg soufflé was soft, creamy, and delicious, potatoes were crispy and amazing, bacon was nicely smoked, biscuit was soft and crispy, and the roasted tomato butter was over the top. Amazing. - Caprese Salad: Probably the best Caprese I've had. Incredibly fresh tomatoes and basil, and great quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Actually saves well for later if you get it to go. - Blue Pig: Incredible croissant - soft, flaky, and perfectly buttery. Has the same egg soufflé from the basic breakfast, and finished off with really nice aioli. Oh, and there's bacon and blue cheese, not that you need it. - Biscuit Board: Same stuff as with the basic breakfast, but you get a really nice pimento cheese spread and prosciutto instead of bacon. - Cobb Salad: Tender and flavorful chicken, and really nice dressing. - Ham and cheese croissant: Excellent quality ham and cheese. Saved well for the next morning too. The sandwiches were excellent, but personally I preferred the sandwiches at Persephone instead. It's like comparing Ferraris to Lamborghinis at this point, but just my opinion. The chips that came with the sandwiches were excellent. Chai Latte, London Fog were excellent! read more

It is undeniable how adorable this place is. The decor is on point (just like at the owners other spot, Persephone's) and features work by local artists! It's much more spacious, though. It's the perfect spot on the edge of town to plop down with an laptop... Butttt I'm not sure they have wifi. Great, strong coffee with 75 cent refills. Massive portions of donned, inches-thick pieces of toast. My salmon was plentiful, the cream cheese proportional, and I could tell the oven dried tomatoes were fresh. My friends got the lentil mushroom toast which was creamy and dense, and the avocado toast. If I lived here, I'd be a regular and if you like this, stop by Persephone's and get a croissant sandwich. I've been here twice now. Both times the food tasted good, however both times I ate here I got the runs. Not sure if someone is not washing their hands or what. First time I ate here I ordered the Jackson Hippie. It tasted good but the portion was small. Then in an hour I was speeding through town trying to find somewhere that I could pee out of my butt. Today I had the breakfast burrito. Good portion and it tasted really good. I live about an hour out of town and was speeding to get home to release the meat-piss that was brewing inside. Enjoyed eating here for breakfast, lunch as well as a lunch take-out. Just couldn't get enough of the tasty offerings and decadent baked goods. There's indoor and outdoor seating and while usually quite busy was never over-run by tourists. Portions are a little on the small side, but ingredients are quality fresh and tasty. I wasn't really sure how to tip since you order at the counter and have to get your own napkins, silverware, water and then bus everything yourself at the end. They do however bring the food to your table. Works for me! read more

I ordered the basic breakfast. This is what I've usually ordered whenever I eat at picnic. The egg soufflé is divine! It was a great serving size and it was cooked to perfection! The bacon was well done, as I like it. A few items have changed, however within the last year: the bread, while delicious, is not toasted. There is no butter or jam to put on your bread unless you order that separately and pay an additional fee. Also, the half grapefruit is no longer cut for you. Nor do you have a serrated spoon to dig it out with. Still delicious, but a lot of work! I did order a café latte, which was delicious! All total, the bill came to about $15. While their bakery items looked delicious, I didn't order any this time. Perhaps next time! read more

If you're a large lumberjack hungry for a great big delicious breakfast thennnnn..... THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! If you're a petite, pretentious, pantywaist, lolly pop sucking, fragile, tree hugger that doesn't require more than water and lemongrass to keep your body running then this place is perfect for you.... I arrived and the signage was so small you would never be able to find the place without a map. When walking up there is a door to the entrance but lock it was with a sign stathing (yes I did that on purpose) to use the back door. (how appropriate) okay okay it's called the Lobby door. I arrived and the dining area was completely full which was a good sign but it was a cluster to find a seat as the design was poor. When I tried to order I asked if there was anything that resemble "biscuits and gravy" & I received a snotty response "just read the menu"! So to my stupidity I order a "crispy hippie"... ooopps it was $10 f@$&£ dollars and the sizes of a small biscuit. Four bites and done and the coffee was drip but charge .75 for a GD refill. So if you like being treated poorly and tiny portions of snotty food then congratulations you've found your place. If you want a meal to fuel your day of hard work then I suggest elsewhere. Reducing this review from 5 stars to 3 stars because of the service and staff. There were 3 women working, and not one was friendly or welcoming. The lay out is a little awkward so we didn't know where to order (do they take my order at the table? Which counter do I order from, etc). The barista I asked gave me helpful information, but not without seeming annoyed I interrupted her 'flow'. Then, when my husband and I made it to the counter where we were supposed to order, the woman taking our order seemed like she was in a huge rush to get us out of there - and there was no one in line behind us! My husband ordered first but when he wasn't sure what he wanted to drink she was annoyed and made me order while waiting for his decision. I even had to ask for a fork bc they were out of clean silverware and the barista after first making me repeat myself quickly dismissed me saying someone should be cleaning some, perturbed I asked and unapologetic that they had no forks to offer. Once we were done eating we weren't sure what to do - do we bus our plates or leave them here. My husband and I both made separate trips to get up and see if we could figure anything out through observing other people or the area but came up dry. I finally interrupted a woman having her meal who was seeing I was lost and asked and she said they like to have us bring our plates to the counter inside. We were met awkwardly outside with the woman who rung us up, who took our plates away - making a joke that 'it's not that she didn't want us to come back inside' - which would have been funny if we weren't already so vibed out of the place. In my husband's words, 'they were snarky'. Other than the unfriendly service, the (non employee) atmosphere was cool - and the food was good. Overall, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I don't think it takes much to put an authentic smile on your face and show a little kindness. We felt like they were not interested in having additional customers. Maybe this place is meant to stay off the beaten path and only service 'locals' - as clearly there was no patience for out of towners like us! read more
