Gluten-free egg soufflé sandwich
Alan R.

this is a great spot for sort of Nuvo breakfast. It's a little crowded and not great on gluten-free but food is decent most of the year. They have outdoor seating easy parking.

After a week in a tent and camping our way through Yellowstone and Tetons, we did an overnight at a local cabin and enjoyed the town of Jackson, Wy! We made our way to Picnic as our first stop for brunch. It was a clean, inviting space with great aesthetic for coffee and amazing tasteful food. We enjoyed a vanilla latte and flat white, the salmon toast (not pictured), the sunrise bowl, and French toast for our boys. We split the three dishes between 5 (two adults and three boys ). The staff was friendly from behind the counter and had quick service. You order from the counter and take number to your seat. Food is brought out hot and fresh. Clean your own spot! Enjoy!

"Basic Breakfast"

This place sits in a quiet, non touristy area which we appreciated. It's a small spot but they were super busy when we visited mid week. We were looking for a "basic breakfast " of eggs bacon and toast which we saw they had on the menu. The eggs were an egg soufflé. Which was ok with us. However, this soufflé was more like a thick egg custard and lacked any seasoning. The bacon was cooked nicely. The fresh sourdough was nice as was the house strawberry rhubarb jam. If you want standard breakfast food, give this place a miss. However if you are looking for a trendy bakery/coffee shop, you'll enjoy this place.

Herbed Egg Sandwich, Avocado Toast, side chicken, pumpkin spiced latte, Cafe Au Lait - 12oz.

Stoped in just before noon on a Friday. There was a long line, but it moved quickly and food arrived within 10 minutes or so. Super delish--the bread on the egg sandwich was super light and fluffy like a biscuit.

A perfect choice about a mile west of the town square, Picnic sits on a quiet street with a brightly lit interior that you can't miss on a cold winter morning when snowflakes are circling about. The interior is cozy with natural materials and comfortable chairs to sit and ruminate with a hot beverage. My delicious herbed egg sandwich was surprisingly tall and hefty. I won't need to eat again until dinner.

Almond croissant

Popped in because I wanted a melt in your mouth croissant and the photos seem to point me in the direction of Picnic. Unfortunately, the almond croissant was not only small for the price but meh. Almost tasted like it was a day old and I won't let myself believe that's the case. The inside is super casual and it looks like a lot of people enjoy it on a Sunday morning. There are only a couple of tables outside the door so I wouldn't recommend this place for outside dining. Even though my line was long it did move and everything in the display case looked delicious. Maybe I just chose wrong.

Breakfast Burrito and seasonal latte (honey lavender)

Yum. Coffee and food, everything is wonderful. I am partial to the breakfast burrito.

Sunrise bowl

100% 5 star! The food is full of flavor, worth every penny! Perfect blend of flavors! Everyone was friends and service was fast for a busy as it was! Such a cute little gem in a business area!

Rachel O.

It's always a little bizarre when the food doesn't taste as good as it looks. To be clear - the food was still decent. It just wasn't mind-blowingly good. I enjoyed taking photos of it & admiring it more than I did eating it. Staff was wicked friendly & the vibes inside were nice, although a bit chilly. I would return for the matcha.

Highly recommend all the things we ordered, which were: French Toast, yogurt and granola, spinach feta, ham and cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, lemon lavender scone, kouign amann, lavender honey latte (which was a seasonal item) and drip coffee! I would have taken pics but ugh we couldn't wait. That's how good they were! How this bakery got 2nd place for the James Beard award but we thought they deserved FIRST!

We were very surprised to find the line already went out the door! The line moved fast and boy you better be ready to order when you step up, because it is a fast moving, no messing around system. In addition there were at least three employees taking orders at the counter so the pastry case is extremely crowded and it's difficult to view what the options are. The employees weren't un-kind, but they there were no niceties like "good morning". They wanted to move you through the line quickly, so we didn't feel we could really peruse the pastries and so we skipped it and we just ordered a hot coffee and a large hot almond milk latte. People were already more than crowded inside waiting for their items so we stepped onto the patio. It was a chilly morning so the small fire pit was welcomed. For the giant crowd waiting we received our drinks within a reasonable time frame. They call names from inside behind the counter, so if you are not within 4 feet of the counter you will not hear them. We sat on the patio near the garden and the view was beautiful. My "large" latte was the same small size of my husband's drip coffee and both appeared to be around 12-14oz. Disappointing. The drip coffee was okay, but not worth returning for and my almond milk latte was also just okay. We maybe would have given Persephone another try, but in the end we chose to try the many other coffee/bakery shops in downtown. I'm not saying 'stay away', I'm just saying it's not as amazing as the hype. Other tips -look at the menu BEFORE you get in line, especially if it is buys -if you happen to snag an indoor seat realize there will be little to no privacy as the line will form right next to your table. -the birds outside are cute, friendly and will absolutely eat your food if you leave it unattended for even a moment - we saw a pack of small birds try to fly off with an entire egg croissant sandwich in the 1min the owner stepped inside for napkins. *don't worry, we stopped them

Meal prices are about what you would expect for Jackson... overpriced for eggs and pastries. People rave about the "pig candy" which is 4 pieces of candied bacon they give you for $16. A bowl of fruit was ordered with fresh blueberries and ripe strawberries. Again, a generous amount. Cafe Genevieve has a staff that hustles. The food is done well and the portion sizes are large. The costs are a bit high with an average spend of $25 to $35 pp not including a morning cocktail for a basic breakfast. If you are hungry, stop by Cafe Genevieve for a solid breakfast.

I also ordered a sweet bagel with mountain berry cream cheese. I was excited to try something sweet, but was immediately let down. The bagel even looked different. It was small, kinda burnt, and seemed to not be baked well. The cream cheese also had no flavor. We both tried bites of it, but felt it was bad enough to throw away. What a let down. The inside is not too big but enough spots for a group to sit if you get 2 tables, just keep a look out people come in and out pretty quickly. They were out of their Lox Bagel with actual salmon and we accidentally ordered the bagel with salmon but just in the cream cheese. Make sure to clarify when ordering this as we were confused and never heard of it before. The salmon cream didn't have a strong flavor, maybe the cream cheese was pretty overpowering. I did prefer the sandwiches over the cream cheese bagels. There is a thick layer of meat but not much sauce on either sandwich so I would recommend asking for either extra or on the side. The bagels itself were a little on the thicker side, they were toasted but not much as seen from the pictures. They were pretty doughy, not a personal favorite. The workers were nice and gave recommendations for favorites. They also were pretty fast so it didn't take long to go in and out.

Dressed up and on reservation, we arrived a tad early and were promptly greeted. Maybe hospitality isn't Wyoming's forte, but all of the staff did not seem happy to see nor serve us from the beginning. The booking site only offered high top tables, so that's what I selected. When the hostess asked if we'd like to switch to a table, she was sternly corrected in front of us that it "wouldn't be possible" by another staff member. The interaction felt unprofessional in front of guests, and as if they weren't willing to accommodate us. On top of that fiasco came plenty of glares and stares from staff throughout our visit. It's a carrot salad with a bite of meat and maybe 5 ravioli. Bar Steak - One came overcooked and one under. Sides were mediocre. Uninteresting mashed potatoes. Our waitress tried to take our order almost immediately after being seated. She visited few times after ordering. With a 5:30 reservation, we left by 5:57 thanks to the small portions and staff seeming to rush us out. In a tourist destination, I would imagine better hospitality and warmth from local workers.
