Back in Jackson, WY and no longer have young children. Years ago, we waited in line here only to be told an hour later that children were not allowed in a bar. New Day - New Page. This bar is legendary and a staple in Wyoming. The Silver Dollar Bar was country prior to instagram and everyone wearing jeans and boots pretending they lived and worked on a ranch. The decor is nice working ranchers. Boots are working clothes, not a fashion statement. We sat at a window table to enjoy the sun on a blustery, snow showery and passing sun day. Watching tourists here is a kick in the pants as they are glued to catching moments of "living western" on their phones. The three elk smashed sliders with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were accompanied with PERFECT, CRUNCHY, PIPING HOT RINGS. As an aside, an additional order on rings were added because once in a while you must indulge. The sliders were fine and dense but that is elk. The rings were EPIC! Today was about simple food amongst the locals. We were able to ignore the 8 bachelorettes from back east documenting every drink at the bar. Drove into town around 9pm on a Thursday night and thought we could find someplace to eat. Struck out at three different places but a quick Yelp search fixed that. Not a lot of options and we chose the busiest place. If you like live music, this IS the place. Great cover band that was awesome. Busy with lots of people at the bars and dance floor. We were here for food and asked the waitress what the favorites were. She said the burger, so, the burger it was. The back bar has tables for dining and a separate bar with lots of TV's with sports on. Decent cocktails but nothing fancy or special. Good wine list and you can buy a bottle and take it out. Burger was ok but I chose Gouda cheese which made a difference. I'm normally not a "bun" guy (cough, cough) but the bun was absolutely delish. Was looking for a nice bar for a few cocktails and came across The Silver Dollar. We walked in and took a seat at the bar. The other option of seating were table but it's always more fun seating at the bar and meeting new people. The bartender was very friendly and delivered our drinks with a smile. I ordered a mule and my husband a draft beer. Both were very tasty. The bar top is decorated in sliver dollars thus the name of the bar. A few televisions were playing baseball and soccer games. We decided to order chips and dip. The guac was perfectly made, and the salsa was delicious. The dish was filled with chips so many that we were unable to finish them. First off, we didn't eat here. We only came for the vibes and live music. Did not disappoint! These folks are serious about the cowboy shuffle and let me tell you, they are a sight to see. You talk about intimidated! These folks get down, in the country world. They know what they're doing so don't get in their way. The bartender from Turkey was amazing. Cute restaurant bar in the cuter Wort Hotel. Made early reservations and sat in a booth. The bar area was fully packed. Had a burger and a gyro, which were average. Oh my god. Their bison chili with smoked garlic. YUM! The depth of different flavors and the way they combine is simply mouthwatering. The cheese on top helps tone it down but it is also a fantastic addition. We only stopped by for the small soup because it was one of the winners in the chili contest in the past few years and we wanted to give it a try. I'm glad we did. We got a small cup to go, went to the park and relished (read: inhaled) this wonderfully made soup. Would 10/10 recommend the bison chili and I wouldn't say no to the recipe! Terrible service for dinner - the waitress could not explain the menu and had to keep going back to The kitchen to find out the answers. It took a long time to get our food and they forgot to bring us the dinner salad first. So they took our meal back and by the time we got it we had cold mashed potatoes and gravy . The signature silver dollars make this bar special. My husband was particularly impressed with the NY Mets game playing on all the televisions. We're eating our way through Jackson Hole. We shared Wildgame meatballs here made with ground bison and elk with balsamic barbecue sauce and white cheddar, delicious! We washed them down with Wind River Blonde local craft beer. This was an ABSOLUTE surprise of the trip for us. We did not know this place existed and the goal was to get bison steaks while we're in Wyoming. The bison steak was about $59 and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The elk sliders , the bun was a bit crispy and the elk was tender and juicy. Mac and cheese was delighful. The cheeseboard was way more than we expected. We loved all the cheese there. The whole meal was just delighful and cost each of us about $94 each but it was well worth it. Service was great, we walked around for around 15 mins to find a restaurants but all the ones that are around were booked up and we were so glad to have found this little gem. Server sat us at the table quickly and food was brought out in 10 mins. The bathrooms are super clean. They had the live band playing the whole time we were there so it was a show and a dinner and and everything was amazing. We will deff come back here. read more

I don't usually like to write bad reviews because I'm not trying to hurt small businesses or anything. But rather I hope the owner can improve training the staff for a better customer experience because what happened to us was so unprofessional on so many levels when we were nothing but respectful the whole time. My friends and I came here looking for food because we had just flown in and not many places were open late. When we arrived, they needed to check ID even though we weren't planning on drinking, we just wanted food. One of my friends forgot her ID back at our lodging but luckily it was nearby. So we went to grab it and came back. The guy at the front said last call for food was right now so we would have to order now which we were fine with but apparently we couldn't place a food orders through him. He said we needed to find a table and have a waitress come to us. Already it was weird that we had to find a table and even when we did, it wasn't enough chairs so we had to find the chairs. It would've been nice if he had at least helped us. We sat for about 10minutes just waiting for a waitress. We had flagged down a few but each time, they said they would come back. Finally a waitress came to us but told us the kitchen is closed and we couldn't get food. Which was so annoying because it wasn't our fault they took forever to come get our order. We would've preferred that they told us originally kitchen was closed but instead we went through this whole ordeal of thinking we would get food only not to get food. Casual spot downtown Jackson - the food is reasonably priced (compared to most of the city) and the bar service was great. I thought there was live music but the band was only on for about 5 min while I was there. The bar tender was attentive and friendly and the drink pours were great. I got the Buffalo burger and was disappointed- what was supposed to be medium cook was more like well done and it tasted greasy/had a strong aftertaste of being overly cooked. I'm trying to figure out the best way to convey my experience, but I'm just going to tell it like it is. Our friend recommended this restaurant for breakfast, so we walked over from the farmers market. When we arrived two hosts were helping a man put in his to-go order. We weren't greeted and acknowledged. After what felt like 10 minutes, we walked outside to see if any other restaurants were in the vicinity, and saw none. We decided to go back in and luckily they had concluded their to-go order saga and we were sat. Our server was nice, but we rarely saw her. We had to ask the expo guy for refills and the bill. They sat another couple half way through our meal and it took so long for anyone to acknowledge them, they just got up and left. I ordered the skillet with elk, which tasted flavorless and "irony" on top of soggy potatoes, peppers, and onions. We also ordered a Benedict, which wasn't bad. We noticed everyone's order took a long time to come out, so it wasn't just us. In my opinion your restaurant employees should work together, not in a silo. There were only 6 tables occupied, so 80% of the tables were empty. 2 servers, so 3 tables each (and two were at the end stages of their meals), it's not that hard. I've had to wait on 10 tables, which is not ideal but I did it and worked my butt off. If you have a bartender and no guests at the bar, maybe help with the tables. If you're going to have two hosts during a slow breakfast period, have them assist with refills or checking on guests. Instead they stuck to their roles and let everyone's experience in the restaurant suffer. Even what appeared to be the owner/manager of the restaurant was present, and obviously was clueless to what was going on around them. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I ordered the chicken tenders with a side of buffalo sauce. Halfway through, as I dipped my chicken in the sauce a nasty short black crimped hair came out and thank god I saw it. I literally spit out my chicken and let the server know immediately. She was very nice and didn't charge us but are the kitchen workers not wearing hair nets???
