This location is finally open!! I've been driving by the area for over a year now and kept wondering if it was actually another location because I LOVE Phoebe's Diner and think it's one of the best brunch spots in Austin. It's classic, and their menu is superb. I always have a difficult time choosing what I want to order here. My friend and I came around 12PM on a Thursday, and there was no wait. Our server was so nice and kept checking in on us. She recommended I add gravy to my chicken biscuit, which was such a good call. I ordered a Viet coffee, which I was also surprised Phoebe's Diner had! It was very delicious, and I like their ratio of condensed milk to coffee. My friend and I split the Cheeky Monkey, which is a must order if you come here. He got the patty melt, which was actually so good. I was judging him a bit for ordering a burger at a brunch spot, but I loved how filling and slightly sweet it was. My chicken biscuit was awesome--I replaced the side with fruit, but it was very filling and I only ate about half. I'm so excited Phoebe's Diner has finally come up north because the only reason why I haven't frequented it as much is because I'd have to go all the way downtown for the next closest location. read more

We were long time customers of the south location, and were thrilled when we were finally a little closer to Taylor! This location has the same great food, staff and vibe. This was our first time to try Phoebe's Diner and the menu looked promising so, as foodies we gave it a go! They have a lot of, eye-catching food and drinks on the menu, and the vide is very relaxing with a kind of like a casual Whiskey Cakes feel. Today we ordered the biscuits with sage sausage gravy, and the Phoebe's egg Benedict as well as 2 hot drip coffees. The food sounded delicious on the menu, but unfortunately for us it was just subpar. Biscuits are more like buttermilk cake biscuits, so square semi-sweet cake consistency. Not a fan when you're pairing it with sausage gravy or hollandaise sauce. The sausage gravy had good flavor, but literally NO sausage, unless you count the tiny tiny pepper like specks throughout. Pretty disappointing as we were so excited for real biscuits and sausage gravy. The Eggs Benedict were on a cake like biscuit (which I guess was "Phoebe's" version). It was topped with a fried (not poached) egg and the ham was actually more like a pork cutlet with hollandaise sauce and hashbrown casserole on the side. This dish did not mesh well together. The biscuits were sweet and the thicker slice of pork was not very pleasant together. The hashbrown casserole was flavorful, though. The drip coffee was good. I was surprised that they didn't offer any syrup flavorings as they had a good size drink menu. The staff was nice and friendly. Maybe we just didn't order the right kind things... you would think for $50 for breakfast and 2 drip coffees it should have been spectacular. read more

I love Phoebe's and am so happy that recently they opened a location closer to where I live. This location is bright and open, with 2 walls of windows. Lots of seating options, including booths for 2 up to 6. My server was very friendly and attentive, and I love that they offer almond milk in a cute little creamer cup. The coffee is smooth and delicious, and they offer to go cups if you want more. The biscuits and gravy are hot and fluffy. The biscuits are square cut and incredibly good. I ordered a full order, and that was too much for me to finish. I will definitely be back to this location soon. read more

It is a diner but does not have a typical diner vibe or menu. Very relaxed with a comfortable feel and amazing food selection! We were seated quickly and our server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the Pulled Pork Benny. It was so delicious!!! I would have never put the pulled pork over sweet cornbread at home but, WOW!! So flavorful. I'm already planning my next trip to try some of their other dishes. My co-workers had the taquito salad and fried chicken sandwich. Had breakfast here today [Saturday morning]. The food was good, with mostly high points and a few small mis-steps. The Bad Ass Bacon & Eggs - the bacon, a piece of slab bacon, and eggs were perfectly prepared and delicious. The smoked tomato salsa was exceptional - flavor & texture perfect. The hash brown casserole was texture-free mush: not a fan and didn't finish. Baked Eggs - The sauce is excellent - a tomato salsa with mushrooms, basil, creme fraiche. Very flavorful, very filling. The two eggs were under-done, with visible uncooked whites. The coffee is excellent. The service was excellent. I'll try to post the photos. Look at the thickness of that bacon - I've never had that quality in the US before, but have in the British Isles. Very good choice by the executive chef. Very thing went well from the time we walked in to the diner till we walked out. Great experience! We had an early breakfast; we had 4 adults and my two grand daughters; a one yr old and almost 3 yr old. They have high chairs and coloring sheets and crayons for the kids. On their menu they offer many sides for little ones and kids menu too. Sliced bananas and pancakes were perfect for my granddaughters. My husband had the omelette, my son had the brisket burrito; they said they were excellent. My daughter n law and I had the French toast with berries with a slab of crispy bacon. Our French toast was amazing! Super delicious! It is HUGE; we could have shared. Next time I will share with someone and I was not a fan of the slab of bacon; next time I will ask for regular sliced or thin sliced bacon. The slab of bacon was not bad; just very different than I'm used to. Over all the food was great and the service was excellent! Definitely would highly recommend Phoebe's Diner. read more

I like the new location, it finally opened which I was greatly looking forward to. Horrible service! When we arrived, they just pointed us to the table to sit down, and after 10 minutes, someone came to leave the menus. When we asked for water, they told us they only delivered the menus and that we had to wait for a waiter. Another 10 minutes passed before someone came to take our drink order. The waiter then left us unattended for a long time, and we had to go look for him to bring the drinks. On top of that, they tried to charge a "service fee." When we spoke to the manager, she got upset with us, excusing the waiter by saying he was attending to other tables (even though the waiter spent most of his time chatting with someone at the bar, leaving the tables unattended). The food was terrible! Bland, poorly prepared, and they just threw the dishes onto the table. When the food arrived, the waiter didn't even come by to check if everything was okay. This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had at a restaurant, especially considering the place wasn't even busy when we arrived. read more

Granddaughter had the kids choc chip pancakes that had spices added to the mix. Children just want plain pancakes no extra spice. Absolutely fantastic meal! I figured since they just opened there might be some loose ends here and there but everything was perfect. Even though they were busy, we got seated right away with no wait. Service was prompt and the waitress checked on us at good intervals. We ordered the migas with masa cakes, fried green tomatoes, and the chile relleno - everything was so tasty. The masa cakes were my favorite. The chile relleno had a really delicious red batter that we both loved. The fried green tomatoes were freshly made and crisp and the ranch was delicious and made in house. My girlfriend and I both thought Phoebe's Diner tasted better than First Watch. I also might add that Phoebe's Diner is better than Another Broken Egg Cafe and Kerbey Lane. My girlfriend usually doesn't finish all of her food wherever we go to brunch, but this time she gobbled her entire entree! I ordered the Bacon Spinach Tomato Omelet plus cheddar cheese and finished it all in one sitting as well. My only wish is that the garlic aioli wasn't spicy. I was sad when Mangia Pizza left this spot and then replaced with a Cajun place, but seeing, what looked to be, an old school diner, I was excited. It looked really busy. Upon getting a table, my friend pointed out they didn't have fountain drinks. While not a deal breaker, but confusing for a diner in the middle of the city. Neither of us drink coffee anymore and it seemed to punish soda drinkers. The worst part is they wanted $2.50 per can. That is music festival prices... Probably higher! No reason for a can of soda to be over a dollar. We thought okay fine whatever we can get juice, but looking over the pretentious menu, just getting pancakes and eggs and bacon was near impossible. I could pay $10 for pancakes only, which is terrible, then $6 for bacon?? That isn't even bringing in the eggs. So if we each got two cans of soda, pancakes, and eggs, the bill would be over $50. Might as well get a full Italian meal at Maggianos. When we told the server our issues with the drinks he just said that's how they are and didn't offer alternatives. So we left. I'm not spending over $50 for pancakes, eggs, and bacon. read more

Another local find! Came in for breakfast and had the Badass Bacon & Eggs. Now...what could be bad about that? The eggs were eggs.. and the red roasted potatoes were over the top. As for the bacon, it was only one piece, but I wanna see that pig! One slice was perfect and very tasty. Super surprised by this lil gem! Really interesting "Diner menu" creative interpretation of Breakfast was served. I ordered a simple pancake a side of bacon and an egg. Sounds like a normal kinda boring breakfast. Well the pancake was made with ricotta cheese, the side of Bacon......it was truly a side of pork belly and super succulent....it was huge! My egg??? Well can't really get creative with over hard egg....it was fine. Great adult beverage menu and the service was fantastic. I'm gonna go back and try lunch...it looked equally fantastic!
