BE CAREFUL HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I wasn't feeling too well and was craving for something light to soothe my stomach without aggravating it. I immediately thought about some delicious Pho soup because it's soothing to the soul when one is sick with the flu or cold, or when one is just having some plain old stomach complications like myself. I have this weird stomach condition where certain foods upset my stomach like tomatoes, nuts, spicy foods, raw jalapeños, oranges, pineapples, etc, which are all foods that I enjoy. Bomber! Firstly, I had never visited this establishment until today. I knew of other Pho establishments where I could get some great tasting Pho, but I've always wanted to give this place a try. So, I thought to myself, "Hey, today is the perfect day to give this place a try." Secondly, upon entering, I was not greeted properly, but instead I was gawked at like a foreigner in an unknown land or time. Finally, after an uncomfortable thirty seconds or so of undesirable gawking, I was confronted by a male gentleman who was toting a menu in his hands. I greeted him, "Hello. How are you?" He immediately handed me the menu without so much as a, "hello," or "how are you?" I thanked him for the menu and asked him if they serve vegetable pho. He said yes and so I proceeded to order the vegetable pho soup with beef broth to go. After I paid my tab, I took a seat at one of the many available tables in the dining area. The dining area is spacious with clean tables, chairs, and floors. Kudos to them for that because I love cleanliness. Next, while I waited for my order, I thumbed through the menu that the gentleman handed me when I walked in. I took the liberty to take some photos of certain items such as their soups and their lunch menu specials. I also snapped a few shots of their golden Buddhas, which I'm obsessed with. As I was taking photos, I noticed the workers staring at me with confused looks on their faces, wondering why I was taking photos. Therefore, I ended my photo shoot, because I felt uncomfortable. Furthermore, when the gentleman that served me brought my order out to me, I thanked him and he mumbled something that I could not understand and then walked away. I proceeded to open the bag and check my order before leaving the restaurant just to verify it was correct. After checking it and seeing that everything was good to go, I began to close the bag and re-tie it. As I was doing this, the gentleman that served me walked up behind me and asked me if everything was correct. I told him yes that everything was correct and that it looks delicious and that I could not wait to get home to try it. I took this opportunity to also let him know that it was my first time at their restaurant, I am a Yelper, and that I do reviews on Yelp. When I said these words to him, his entire demeanor and attitude instantly changed. He perked up and smiled at me. Can you believe it? He smiled at me. Next, he said, "Oh you do review on Yelp! Yes, please give us a good review!" Lol hilarious! Overall, I enjoyed the vegetable Pho! It was absolutely delicious and soothing to my stomach. The beef broth was full of marinated robust flavors! Because of bad experiences at other Vietnamese establishments that don't peel the tail off the shrimp or devein the shrimp, I added my own shrimp to it when I got home. Therefore, I can't confirm how this establishment serves their shrimp pho. Would I return? I certainly would! However, I don't think I would dine-in because of the customer service. It's not too great. This review could have been five stars if the customer service would have been friendly and welcoming. It didn't sit well with my spirit how the man perked up and started to be nice to me after I told him I was taking photos for Yelp for my review that I planned on doing. As a result of this, I am giving three stars.

#17. BÚN TÔM THỊT NƯỚNG | Rice vermicelli with grilled sliced pork & shrimp #14. Phở Gà | Rice Noodle Chicken Soup (dark or white meat)

It may look like your average neighborhood Phở restaurant, but Phở Tau Bay is anything but! My friend told me about this place, it's her favorite. We ordered Bún Gà Nướng Sả (Rice vermicelli with grilled chicken), BÚN TÔM THỊT NƯỚNG (Rice vermicelli with grilled sliced pork & shrimp), and Phở Gà (Rice noodle chicken soup). I cannot describe how delicious all three dishes were. The broth in the Phở Gà has this sweet / savory taste and it's perfect! Both rice vermicelli bowls are not only pleasing to the eye with its variety of colors but they're also very full of delightful flavors! Don't let appearances fool you-- the restaurant may not seem like a lot from the outside but the interior is cozy and the dishes are fantastic. You will not be disappointed! Phở Tau Bay is perfect if you are craving comfort food.

    Beef Pho and Spring rolls

This is the place for Pho when it's calling your name. Pho tau bay has become my go to spot any and every time I'm wanting the best Pho on this side of town. I've had every beef combination and can't go wrong with any of them. The spring rolls are always fresh, but the egg rolls are the best I've had in Houston thus far. The service is always nice and food is always fresh. I'll always be coming back here when I get the urge for Pho.

    Bún thịt nớng chả giò
    Thao L.

Wanted to give their bún thịt nớng chả giò a try instead of my usual phở here which has an okay broth and good meats. The bowl had half veggies and half noodles w/ meat and the one piece of egg roll in it didn't had any carrots inside but pork and taro in it. Throughout eating this w/ the nớc mắm poured over and mixed along w/ the veggies, noodles, meat, and egg roll, I didn't tasted a whole lot until I was almost finished eating the noodles and some of the veggies. I noticed this time for the peanut sauce that came w/ the gỏi cuốn my parents ordered is that they added more chili garlic sauce than they used to but whenever I get that when ordering phở there I tell them to not add it since it's a bit too spicy for my liking. But they have really bomb gỏi cuốn here along w/ the sauce though and I'll still get my usual phở and gỏi cuốn here and occasionally their bún thịt nớng chả giò if I'm in a mood for it! :)

I've been going to this place recently for the past 6 months and I have enjoyed the food they really put a lot of meat in the meal . The spring rolls are so compact and stuffed with so much shrimp and chicken. There peanut sauce is so good with the crushed up peanuts. This place is my go to place after the gym

The got nice wall art too, depicting the popular dishes from the north so I had my expectation and hopes up. Service is ordinary, she speaks little English but can get by ordering, we order first at the counter the sit anywhere. Braised egg is 2 for $3.50, salty but expected since it's marinated. Came out steaming hot, and yolk was not overly cooked and dry, not bad. Starting with the Chinese hamburger I felt sad and know not to expect too much from the other dishes we ordered. First the meat look different than what others have posted before, and it was kinda dry and too salty to eat. There was no other spice, only the meat juice flavor. The bun they use was stale to eat. Traditional way of making this should be the flaky oily pancake, or at least make the buns softer to eat. The mutton stew was clear and very heartwarming to drink on a cold day. But the portion is super small for the price. The glass noodles were gone in literally two bites. I had none to share with my boyfriend. This dish come with the burger bun too that you can soak them in the soup so I guess this is the extra carb make up for the less noodles. Oil splash noodle is their specialty? It was good but didn't wowed me. Noodles are chewy and well cooked, came with lots of bean sprouts. The sauce is flavorful and actually not too oily which I enjoyed more. You can add the beef for an extra charge, it's the regular braised beef, was just ok. I find it funny that their all food arts on the wall look nothing like the actual way they serve it.

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

She immediately asked what we wanted in a rude tone, which set an uncomfortable atmosphere from the start. There was a sign on the table advertising a "free appetizer" if you take a photo and tag the restaurant on social media. I followed the instructions exactly as stated, but when I mentioned it, the server initially refused to honor the promotion. After I pointed out the sign, she appeared upset and walked away. I saw she went to speak to another employee and cracked a smiled and looked over. She later returned and offered a small discount instead. The issue wasn't about the money or the discount, it was the principle. The promotion was clearly advertised, and I simply followed the restaurant's own policy. It was disappointing to feel like the restaurant was reluctant to honor something they were actively promoting. I hope management addresses this because customer service and consistency with advertised promotions make a big difference in the overall dining experience.
