OOH LA-LA LA PHO 04/05/2024 I was starving after my flight back home to Houston from Chicago. Although I was delighted to see my son again after ten long weeks of Navy Bootcamp and not being able to see him or talk to to him, I was tired and exhausted from the trip. I knew right away that some good 'ol shrimp Pho would make me feel better. Since this place is within close proximity to where I live and I've had it bookmarked forever, I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to see what they're working with. When I arrived, the place was not crowded, but there were a few diners dining inside. The first thing I noticed was how clean and spotless it was, which is something that I can live with. I love a clean establishment because it makes my dining experience comfortable and it also puts me at ease knowing that I'm ordering food from owners who believe in cleanliness. The ambiance and overall atmosphere of the place was nice and quiet and the lights were very bright. Customer service was great which was provided by a young lady that greeted me as I entered. She was very sweet and kind. I placed a to-go order for a large sized shrimp pho which cost about $14. She informed me that it would be about a five minute wait which surprised me because I was thinking to myself, "that's kind of fast." However, as promised, no sooner than I took a seat in the waiting area, a young gentleman emerged from the back with my order within five minutes. I was really impressed with his kindness as he handed me my order. He presented great customer service skills and professionalism. It's scary sometimes when you're trying a new restaurant for the first time and you're not sure what to expect. In my many past experiences, I have encountered rudeness and disrespectfulness from workers and owners which leaves one feeling a bit skeptical about trying something new. However, my experience at La Pho was such a nice and comfortable one. Furthermore, not only was this establishment squeaky clean with great customer service, but the shrimp pho was Ooh La La La-Mazing! First off, I noticed right away after opening my bag and checking my food before leaving the restaurant that the shrimps were slit down their outermost curvature and deveined. I was highly impressed because just about every Pho restaurant that I've visited does not devein their shrimp, which is very annoying to me. Moreover, when I got home and was finally able to sit down and relax, I was highly satisfied as I began to taste my shrimp pho. It was full of fresh vegetables and boasted of a flavorful beef broth. I especially appreciated that it wasn't overly salty. I've had some pho broth in the past that was just a bit too salty for my health, but not this establishment. The pho was accompanied by fresh cilantro, basil, green onions, red onions, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and a slice of lime. It was nice and hot, and soothing to my tummy, and my soul. I simply enjoyed it and cannot find any complaints about it. Overall, La Pho is an exceptionally clean establishment with great customer service that serves delicious and flavorful tasting shrimp pho. I will definitely be paying them a future visit to try some of their fried calamari next. I'm thinking I will dine in to get a feel of what the dining experience is like. Hopefully, they will continue to exercise great customer service skills while providing delicious and fresh cuisine. I highly recommend this place for all pho lovers. You will not be disappointed. I've been here a few times and the food is consistently amazing. It pictured is the 2 pounds of crawfish that we got when we ate there yesterday they were a little on the small side, but I have been eating them from this restaurant all season and they have a really good flavor for the house special a few times I've tasted some that were slightly off that seem like maybe they weren't kept at the temperatures before being cooked or maybe they had been cooked before earlier and that day, but nothing bad enough to make me not return here again.. This place is very clean and has lots of available parking. It used to be under a different name. I thought the previous place was really good, so I was surprised it changed. We were immediately welcomed. The restaurant has booths and regular chair/table options. It's a very open style concept. We started with ice tea and an appetizer of eggrolls. Very tasty! Next, we ordered our meal. We love vermicelli bowls, so this was one of the reasons we chose this place to eat today. It was really good, but the pork was a little burned and needed a little better flavor. Aside from that, it was good and very well presented. I thought the presentation was pretty and definitely appetizing. The service was impeccable. We were both impressed. We will definitely return to try other items on the menu. New OWNERS and new Restaurant name now La Pho!!! Tried a new restaurant spot last night and it was so good . We ordered a few appetizers calamari and chicken wings. The crawfish was BIG and delicious . The flavor was great with A LOT of garlic . I got the medium which was packed with tons of flavors and not hot. Next time, I'm going to do SPICY. Restaurant is clean and bright. Great for family dinners and large parties. Definitely a must try if you are in the Cypress area. Plenty of parking. The pho doesn't have the beef bone taste in the broth from the Togo container. This place is only for other menu items , I will only want to return to try other items but not for Pho , the meat that is called Pho Tai with meatballs could only bring memories on the meat not the broth, meatballs, noodles or broth. I don't know the price is a little too high for a large size pho noodle soup. There are many stores, but I cannot think of this one standing out only if you are working nearby or in the area only come if you have the craves for other items. read more

This was our first time eating here. I called ahead to confirm crawfish stock and price. There are booths on either side of the dining area which was nice for privacy. Staff was very nice and attentive. All tables got service really quick and were checked on in good time. When you order crawfish, you get a table cover which is great cause I don't like making a mess. Crawfish was really good. Firm, not overcooked, and you can really taste the ingredients. It's cooked with orange and corn which I could taste very subtly. Really nice experience with this one. Softshell crabs were a hit with our son. Nice light batter on them, and they went perfect with the sweet chili sauce on the side. It isn't spicy, so toddler approved. The body of the crab still had the egg (roe) which was an awesome bite. We also got a Large Pho with Tai and Nam beef. I dug into it before I could get a picture. The broth is really nice and balanced. Tai was filet mignon beef which was good and the nam was not overly fatty cuts. Everyone dug into this. Overall everything was really great. The flavor profile is really balanced, for lack of better descriptors. We're going to go back again today to try more flavors. Glad we tried it, cause this will probably be our spot. read more

I believe this place used to be a Chinese restaurant but now it has changed to Vietnamese. I took a chance one day as I saw this place on Google. I didn't see an updated menu but I assumed they had pho so I ordered 3 pho tai bo vien to try at home (1 small and 2 large). When I went to pick up my order, I was pretty lost when trying to find the building. They are tucked away behind the main strip off the street and in the corner. I never knew this spot even existed. When I walked in, the space is huge and completely renovated with all white marble counters and white walls it looked very fancy. I went to pay (not knowing how much anything was) and it was in my opinion, way overpriced for what we got. The employees were very nice and still figuring out the POS system when taking my order but that's okay. As soon as I got home I opened the bag and I was really disappointed. The large pho had the exact same amount as the small pho. Even though it was $2 more for the large. Overall, I think this place is just okay. I still ate my pho but definitely not worth $12, maybe $5 at most. I feel really bad because I want to support them especially when they're in a bad location but I don't think I can. The meat also tasted funny with a weird texture (almost gummy) so I couldn't eat it all. Same with the meatballs- they had too much cartilage in it?? I am used to small pieces of cartilage but most of the meatballs were half cartilage and that was really unappetizing for me. I don't think I will be back anytime soon. I was very pleased with the food, the service and the decor of the newly remodeled restaurant. My wife had spicy crawfish and she loved the taste and felt that the spiciness was right up her alley - the hotter, the better! They did a very nice job with the crawfish. I had a banh mi sandwich - crispy bread, delicious filling with that lovely Viet mayonnaise. I enjoyed it. The staff checked on us several times throughout dinner and made it clear that they wanted us to enjoy our dinner. We did enjoy it and appreciated the attentiveness and friendliness of our host and server. Overall, dinner was a terrific experience. I plan to go again. It was our first time here. I accidentally found it when I got lost and turn down the street where the Tasty Treat ice cream cone place is. I the restaurant was surprisingly very clean and my kids and I enjoyed the fact that they had their air conditioner on. Seems like many Vietnamese places are not as clean and they do not turn on the air conditioning. The entire staff that we interacted with Were all very pleasant. The petite Vietnamese waitress we had was especially attentive, and very prompt with service. They have a crawfish special buy five lbs and get one lb free @ $8 lb. The thit nuong (bbq chargrilled pork) had good flavor. I really appreciate the generous amount of pickled cabbage and carrots the gave with the rice plate. My family and I enjoy (com tam )broken rice over regular steam rice) they did not have broken rice. I wish more places outside of Southwest Houston had broken rice plates with (cha and bi) egg cake and shredded pork). The Pho had a decent flavor. My kids and I don't like fatty proteins and the meat inside the pho and the pork in the rice plate did not have fatty meat. This was a HUGE plus. 4/5 pork rice place. Missing a few true proteins that maybe could be added? Bi and Cha? 3/5 broth I tried was decent. It was beefy flavor. 4/5 crawfish lacked more garlic butter sauce. The bottom few soaked up more flavor than the top ones. They were fresh cooked crawfish and were good mixed size. They use fresh garlic. I wish there was more sauce so it soaked up more flavor. 5/5 The bbq grilled beef spring rolls were flavorful and a generous size. $5 for 2. 3/5 peanut sauce was a little watery and lacked hoisin sauce flavor. We discovered this place off of Fry Road and 529 a month ago and oh boy..... We have placed at least 3 to- go orders so far. My favorite is the general tso's chicken but the orange chicken is a close 2nd. The chicken dished are cooked with the right flavor and comes with white rice. GT has bell peppers, and jalapeños. The orange chicken has small pieces of orange peels which enhances the flavor. We have also tried the shrimp lo mein and the shrimp fried rice. Both are very tasty but I think I prefer the rice. Either selection will be a good choice. The veggie egg roles are a bit small but tasted good. I think 4 came in the order. Their egg drop soup is really good. The soup order comes with the crispy noodles without having to ask for them. Lastly, we tried the crawfish and the spicy ones definitely had a kick to them. They were seasoned well with garlic and butter. We live in Copperfield but this drive down 529 to get to Fry Road is definitely worth it. read more

Stopped in for the crab legs and ended up ordering other food! The steak bites came out on a sizzling hot platter, with a fried egg on top and a bunch of caramel delicious onions. That dish also comes with a side of white or fried rice. The steak was soooo tender and juicy! Now onto the crab legs, they were cooked in a spicy sort of sauce, served with an option of corn and potatoes. The taste was phenomenal. The only down side is that they were a tad over cooked (hard to get out of the shell). The service is impeccable! It's tucked away in a strip center off Fry/529 so it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention! I'd def go back! read more

It's a mixed review for this one. This place is a nice quaint place with interesting decor with low chinese music in the background. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The good - The R10 sizzling beef plate was good. Alot better than most places. The bad - I was fiending for crawfish so I ordered 5 lbs of spicy garlic butter for myself and 2 lb mild garlic butter for my daughter. Neither one had any flavor and was real bland. Mine neither had flavor nor was spicy at all. The ugly - got charged a $9 surcharge for butter flavor. If I ordered the garlic butter, why would I get charged for butter flavor? Worst of all, it was still bland. So $6.99 lb for crawfish, but with the butter surcharge, it puts it over $8 a lb. Definitely not worth it. There were a few dead ones in there as well that ruined my appetite. So all in all, I probably would stop by again to try the other items on the menu if I was in the area. As for the crawfish, I'll have to get it elsewhere. **update** Review revised to 1 star even though I was being very generous with my initial review. Card was charged in full and no refund for the butter was received as promised by owner in their response. The food came way earlier than expected which was a plus, but that's the most props I can give this time. I ordered a shrimp fried rice and a house fried rice this time. It was pretty bland to say the least. Most places add white pepper and garlic to their rice, but I don't think they add anything other than soy sauce and oil to the rice. The rices came with the usual vegetables, peas, carrots, white onions, green onions, and egg. It wasn't bad it just didn't have any flavor really so the extra soy sauce helped. However, I stumbled upon this place and decided to give them a try. I called to ask about their pricing ( the guy on the phone was super friendly)and ended up getting the Combo for 2 which has a 1lb of crawfish, 1lb of shrimp, and 1lb of crab. I added extra seasoning and butter ( totally worth it) and they told me it would be 30~ min for it to arrive. I was anxiously watching Netflix because I couldn't wait for it to arrive. My first dealings with this place was via Grubhub. I ordered the general tso chicken (Xtra spicy), along with a few other items. With much anticipation, I decided to visit with the family last Sunday. We arrived right when they opened and we were the only people there for the first 45 mins. The waiter was very friendly and patient. We ordered the salt n pepper calamari and it was wonderful. We ate that down to the very last bite! I love when the wait staff is knowledgeable of the menu and are not afraid to interact. When we were ordering drinks, the waiter asked if we wanted to try the Thai tea. She described it and expressed how she really liked it. I ordered a dish that consisted of my usual general tso chicken with some kind of shrimp (sorry, I forgot). For some reason my food wasn't as flavorful as it was when it was delivered. I think I probably should have requested extra spicy, like I did when it was delivered... Maybe that's the problem.
