I've been here many times for pho but this was the first time I tried the vermicelli bowl. It was absolutely delicious. Really nice grilled prawns, well-seasoned shrimp paste, and perfectly grilled chicken. The tables are a little close together, but they do have partitions in between to separate the different parties. So good though. Definitely give them a try! read more

I was a little worried when entering the place, because there were 4 or 5 tables occupied in a spot with 40-50 tables, but I was wrong. The food and service were both excellent. We had a Vietnamese tofu salad and fried rice. Be warned, the salad is nothing like a western salad. Mostly cabbage and shredded carrots as a base. But the dressing was excellent and applied with a light touch. Fried rice was a little more pedestrian, but if you have a pickier eater it is a safe bet. I will definitely return! read more

Came here on a weeknight with the SO. I was craving good pho and so we made the drive to Dorchester. We found street parking pretty easily. The inside of the restaurant is pretty big. Decor was humble but clean. We tried the summer roll with grilled pork, beef skewers, and each got our usual pho order (pho dac biet for me and pho tai for the SO). Everything was really tasty! I honestly have no complaints. The rolls were fresh. The beef skewers were tender and flavorful. The pho broth was lovely and did not need any flavor adjustments. We did wish that the pho toppings came with jalapeños but that wasn't a huge deal (we did get everything else including plenty of basil, bean sprouts, and lime). As someone that is part Hue, the bun bo hue here is authentic as it gets. I loved how lemongrass was the highlight of the broth and how it wasn't overly spicy. The dish will definitely keep you warm in the winter time. In addition, I got the durian smoothie and it was the perfect blend between ice + durian + Vietnamese milk. The prior reviewers wrote about how hands off the service was, and I agree that they're not extremely attentive. However, the food is way too good for me not to come here. This review is for take out. I ordered the pork vermicelli dish as well as the combination pho (paid extra for a regular size) and both were 5/5. Probably one of the best Vietnamese deliveries I've had since living in CA. The pho broth was rich and not watered down like some places and also not too salty. The portions of meat given in the regular size was more than I expected and I was very pleasantly surprised. I did eat it all oops :). The delivery came quickly thru Grubhub and my broth was actually hot for once and I didn't have to microwave it! The pork vermicelli was very flavorful and authentic. It's not easy finding a restaurant with both great service and high quality authentic food in Boston but I think this is it if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food. The phở is amazing but they also have many other great options if you're not feeling noodle soup. I get something different every time and has never been disappointed. Worst experience ever here at pho Le. They sat us. No menus. Then ask what do we want to order. I asked him for a menu. Then gives me this card with a QR code. Great no problem. Then I ordered a pho special large and my fiancé got bun bo hue. They gave me a dirty spoon and I ask the waiter for a new spoon. He then points at her spoon and said there's another spoon right there. No, we both need a spoon, why would I take hers. He then take my spoon and brings me another one. This place is dirty. Understand this kind of business is based off of customer service. Your pay is based off of tips. I don't understand what's going on. Sorry, I did not tip! Will never come back here again. Review #1055 Last name I was at Pho Hua across the street, and this time I thought I should try its competitor on this side. Food is fresh, hot, and served fast (normally what you'd expect). The restaurant is spacious enough for booth seating or group visit. I like the variety of the dishes offered for appetizers, regular pho, special pho, or rice dishes. They only have smoothies and regular soda, no bubble tea. I wish the staffing of this place could be more organized. They have lots of people working here. However, somehow it seems like patrons are always waiting for someone to serve them. It is likely a family run business, so everybody does everything (from greeting to cleaning the tables), but perhaps it would be better if they have a staffing system down. read more

I would not recommend getting banh xeo from here. It has too much turmeric and the flavor is off for me. The pork vermicelli was good. Oh, I also enjoyed their grilled ham roll and spring roll. New to the Vietnamese food. A friend of mines who lives in Boston always eat here and recommend this place. I walked in and it was packed! But the food smelt so good when walking in. We sat ourselves, someone came to offer us water and provided a menu. My friend order the food so not sure what the name of the items were. Looked like yellow lo mein with veggies and then we had chicken soup with different type of herbs but it was sooooo good with noodles. I also added some spices not that they were needed but add more flavors. See pics for what we had. Food is bomb and made to my liking. This is my second visit there and will go back. The crispy chicken is soooo good. I also got the mango smoothie, tea and my favorite Pho with tripe and beef. It was amazing and I will be full for hours. One thing I would like to mention is that they are not as detailed oriented with their table condiments and plates. We had to send back a few plates due to food particles being on the plate when they came to the table, condiments look like they could use a wipe down a few times and the table top had some sticky residue on it when he sat us down. Authentic Vietnamese comfort food! They have parking off Dorchester Ave in a private lot so it's worth driving out to get your Vietnamese food fix. You would need a car to get out to this part of town. I would highly recommend this place over any pho in the city (esp those in Chinatown). You are seated promptly and they have plenty of space. Easily can accommodate large parties and children or just a couple and even singles. They give you a menu with plenty of options. The fresh spring rolls are good for an appetizer as are the savory crepes and banh beo. Easily enough to share between two people. Pho is good. The bun bo hue is decent though needs some more spice. Rice dishes are good and prices are very reasonable. Service is quick and friendly and they also speak Vietnamese. They accept amex (a rare thing for Vietnamese restaurants). Amazing pho - specifically the dac biet is top notch with amazing cuts of meat and flavorful broth. It tastes so authentic and comforting! One of my favorite bowls in the state. Vietnamese coffee is tasty although the portion is small. A tad short in coffee flavor but still so much better than that a majority of Vietnamese restaurants outside of Dorchester. Smoothies are tasty but can be too icy in texture and sweet in taste. I docked a star for some less-than-stellar delivery orders where my coffee is spilled due to poor packaging and I have some missing ingredients for my pho. The bowl came with a generous amount of tofu (the spongy kind, not the usual fried soft tofu), broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper. We came maybe an hour before closing and while they were nice. they were not the most attentive during this time. Beef Pho: The broth was pretty great at this location! Ordered the mixed meat selection (included tripe, tendon, brisket, rare steak slic, etc.) and the texture of some of the meats were a bit different than the other places I've tried, but not bad. Once upon a time I had an Uber driver who was fixated on my being Vietnamese. He was like "oh your people are in Dorchester." Oh, okay, well thanks but I'm not too interested in finding other Viet folk but I guess I'll make the trek out to Dorchester in search for some good Viet eats. Alas, a family friend we were visiting in Boston brought us Dallas-folk to Pho Le. I ordered some pho bo vien (meatball beef noodle soup) and was actually quite impressed. I love adding a hefty amount of sriracha sauce and some hoisin sauce to my pho even though that's always frowned upon by Vietnamese people because you're "changing the taste" and it's disrespectin' the chef. BUT, this place didn't really need any hoisin OR sriracha added to their pho. I mean, I added it anyways because I love the spice, but I'm just saying the broth alone was delicious. The pho broth was so flavorful. The meatballs were solid. The rice noodles were cooked well. All elements of a great bowl of pho. I also got to try the goi ngo sen (lotus root salad), goi vit (duck salad), banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe) and nem nuong nha trang (grilled pork spring rolls). Really decent dishes. The goi ngo sen was really refreshing and sweet and I loved the pieces of pork belly that were mixed in with the salad. Overall a solid Vietnamese joint! read more
