great service and amazing food. the restaurant it self was very clean and had amazing music. definitely a great place to meet with friends, relax, and have a good meal.

Location was super clean and friendly and bustling. Staff was so great! All very.friendly and helpful as menu was large and varied. Pho broth was not very strong flavoured but still tasty, not fatty and portions were good. The condiments on the table were varied but the razor sliced pickled raw garlic was NEXT LEVEL delicious! We got the fish cake sides, 4 pieces for 6.99...a little steep for the size but flavours very good, along with house special pho. The Coconut ,pandan, sago and jelly dessert REALLY delicious. Not too sweet, refreshing and satisfying

Food was great, fast friendly service with excellent effort with English for the newer to the language. The downtown location is very busy and packed so expect less elbow room. We were here as a family and really enjoyed. I had their special on broken rice while the four guys had various pho. We shared eggrolls and chicken wings. All the food was fully devoured and enjoyed. Of note, they were very receptive to food allergies and sensitivity - I requested less sauce on my grilled meats and they delivered (I have to be careful with blood sugar spikes).

The broth is rich and full of flavor. They give you plenty of herbs and toppings. If you like a bit of spice, try the bun bo hue -- it's bold and satisfying. Service is fast, the place is clean and nice. Definitely one of the better pho spots around.

I don't quite get the fuss. May be a matter of personal taste, as the portion sizes are pretty good, the kitchen is quick and the space is beautiful. I mean, there is a reason why this place is always full. But went for dinner and was underwhelmed. We got the beef pho, fish vermicelli and shrimp rolls. The broth was bland, the noodles weren't as firm as expected, there was ok to good amount of protein, and the wrap on the roll was tough in some parts. Overall taste was just ok with the exception of the beef which was tender and flavourful. Don't quite get the hype. But looks like I'm in the minority here so check it out.

Delicious Vietnamese foods, caters more to the southern Vietnamese taste profile. Beautiful interior, though cramped. Quick service, though be mindful they try to move people in and out quickly too so it can feel tiny bit rushed.

This very popular Vietnamese restaurant specializes in pho and has 10 locations across Canada, with this location being the newest, opening mid-Dec 2024. We ordered the following: 22. Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($23.95). 34. Grilled Chicken and Fried Egg on Broken Rice ($17.95). 49. Grilled Pork, Spring Rolls, Spring Rolls on Sugarcane, with Vermicelli Noodles ($22.95). The Beef Rib shocked us. The menu photo showed one bowl with two bones, but ours came in two bowls! One of the bowls had this huge bone with a huge amount of cartilage and tendon. We had to ask for scissors to cut off the tendon. The other bowls had a bone with a good amount of meat on it. The broth was really good, as were the noodles. Be warned: Some dishes are huge! The ones we ordered were huge. The Grilled Chicken was tasty. The Grilled Pork was good, as were the Spring Rolls. The Sugar Cane was especially delicious. The customer service was good. Each table has a full set of condiments. There is adequate indoor seating. They can be very busy, so there is a bench for people waiting. The inside is decorated with fake plants and a cheery blossom tree. There is easy listening music playing in the background, which can be drowned by loud conversations. They only accept cash or debit. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2024-274

Vermicelli with pork and spring roll

Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3.5 Stars Fill Factor: Filling I think this place is fairly new as this is the first time I've seen it. I was recently denied a Vietnamese lunch because the place I went to was full so obviously I was going to give this place a try. This place had a big cash or debit sign at the front door so once I checked that I had one of the above I proceeded inside. The first thing I noticed as we were being seated was the size of the rice dish that the couple next to us had in front of them. It was massive compared to other places so I immediately crossed that off my list as I was not that hungry this visit. Both my partner and I ended up with the vermicelli with pork and spring roll (my partner's had the cane shrimp as well). The food was solid and the portions were generous with the cane shrimp version being bigger. Like most places there was a bit of shredded cabbage and bean sprouts to pad the dish and make it look more full but nothing out of the ordinary. The pork was cut into slices and was of the dry variety. The spring roll I believe is vegetarian and tasted ok. They give you a bowl of fish sauce but I found that insufficient and asked for more as the vermicelli was bland without it. The additional sauce helped but being a fish sauce snob I found the sauce to not be as flavourful as fish sauce from other restaurants. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a fake cherry blossom tree at the entrance and some nice lanterns hanging near the kitchen. They packed in as many seats in the restaurant as they could so it felt a bit tight and if you come by yourself or in pairs you may have to share tables if it is busy. It was also very busy the night we went so it was quite loud with the crowd and music so keep that in mind if you prefer a quiet meal. All in all a good first experience at Pho Anh Vu. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice. Will likely be back next time I am looking for food in the area.

Food was excellent and service was accommodating. I had beef rib pho and complimentary warm tea. The sauce to go with the beef rib was quite good. I got the rest of the pho to go, as it was a huge serving. It was a bit of a challenge trying to put the contents of the huge bowl into the takeout containers and I imagine other people have this same issue. Will definitely be back. They specialize in meat platters where you can create DIY fresh rolls. The platters come with lettuce, mints, vermicelli, rice paper and house special sauce. They also have pho, rice, and vermicelli dishes as well. Washrooms are located downstairs which are not accessible. They only accept cash (with a 10% cash discount) or debit. I previously have had Anh Dao for take out before - their pork sausages (nem nuong) are delicious and perfect when you wrap them with vermicelli and fresh herbs. Even when I got take out, the restaurant gives you plenty of fresh ingredients to create your own fresh rolls. I recently went to Anh Dao for lunch to dine in at the restaurant on a Friday around 12:30pm. The place was pretty quiet as it seemed like I was their first customer that day. During my time there, there was another party of 2 that also came in to eat lunch. I opted for the house special soup pho ($19.95). Service was friendly and my food came at a reasonable time after I ordered. The house special pho included slice rare beef, beef brisket, beef balls, and tripe. The soup was slightly sweet with a nuttier flavour. The noodles were unfortunately not the fresh kind but there were ample beef ingredients in the bowl of pho for the price you are paying. I love how in addition to siracha and hoisin sauce, there is also ground up chili sauce as well as a pickled sliced garlic and jalapeno pepper mixture at the table. Moreover, you get bean spouts, a red chili pepper, fresh herbs, and lime that you can add to your pho broth. Overall, a tasty bowl of pho where the quality of the beef was good. Anh Dao is a tasty option for Vietnamese food in the College and Spadina area. Definitely do try their meat platters as they are quite delicious!

I tried to finish the broth because it was so good. I would have given that first bowl 4 stars! Today was terrible! It just felt like a super water-downed broth that I didn't want to drink. Everything was just boiled and dumped in a water-downed soup base. The least they can do is use broth and dump it in the seafood tomato based soup. This was a 9pm dinner. They had their own family visiting to close up shop at 11. I tried asking them what happened to the broth today but they didn't speak English or just decided not to. It was disappointing for a bowl of $21 + tax noodle that was just pretty bland tonight even though it looked the part.... Sigh 2 stars today but couldn't average it out to 3 because now I remembered the spring rolls from the first visit were soggy Yes they are friendly but don't know if it's a place you should come before 7pm to catch the good broth?

The dry noodle dishes under the green column use egg noodles & those under the brown use rice noodles but the toppings & sauce are the same. The most pricey rice noodles are Japanese but otherwise the difference is width. Got the thin egg noodle version in large. It's recommended to add pickled garlic & red vinegar. The soup was pretty tasty with a natural sweetness, 2 springy half fishballs & a large, very fresh shrimp. The sauce was basically oyster sauce but pickled garlic, red vinegar, hoi sin & chili sauce were available to add complexity. The noodles weren't wet but were not dry either. Large was a very big bowl it came with minced pork, thin sliced pork beansprouts & greens. The pickled garlic was good. Also got a shrimp fritter on the side for $2.50. It was big with one tiny shrimp. The juxtaposition was comical but it was cheap. It was not warm but the fritter was crispy & tasty. Unfortunately the shrimp itself was dry & brittle.
